Windows ODBC connections error

I have oracle installed a client machine, linking to the server. When i sign into the server using SQL+ this works fine. However when i try and edit any ODBC driver connections in windows-control panel i get an error telling me that the networking components were not found. Also when i try to open the application that runs with oracle i get two similar errors.
The error boxes are as follows :-
little: Microsoft ODBC for oracle
Message:The Oracle(tm) client and networking components were not found. These components are supplied by oracle corporation and are part of the oracle version 7.3 (or greater) client installation.
You are unable to use this driver until these components have been installed.
2.Title: Database error
Message: IM004:[Microsoft][ODBC driver manager] Drivers SQLAllocHandle on SQL_HANDLE_ENV failed.
This is strange because i have the connection in SQL plus to the same server and the other client machines i look after are working fine.
Right before the crash the machine had Nortan antivirus 7.61 and a Disk Defrag on C:
To remedy this i have un-installed and re-installed oracle client several times with no look.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have no further information about the Defrag of C: as our team did not run this, it was the IT support team we use.
Thanks in advance
Dave

I am trying to connect through ODBC to an external Oracle (Solaris) database from a Windows Server 2003 Web Edition machine. I am getting the exact same error scenario with the MS ODBC Driver for Oracle. I would love to use the Oracle ODBC driver rather than the Microsoft one, but OUI installation of it (any version) fails (with no explanation in the log) every time.
I am using Oracle9i Client 9.2.0.1.0 with Oracle 9iR2 Patch Set 9.2.0.3.0. Do I need to get rid of that and go back to an older version of the client? And, if I do, will it work with WIndows Server 2003 Web Edition? I know my attempted installation of an 8.05 client failed with no error information.
I have verified that %ORACLE_HOME%\bin is in the path and that the user has read/execute rights to %ORACLE_HOME%.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

  • OBIEE 11g ODBC connectivity error

    Hi all,
I am getting the following error when I tried to access a simple query through Answers.
"*Odbc driver returned an error (SQLExecDirectW).*

    What I did was
    1. Create a DSN 'orcl', 32 bit Oracle ODBC driver. Tested and worked against the Oracle database.
    2. Import metadata using Local, ODBC 3.5 and DSN = orcl
    3. Build a simple BMM and subject area
    4. In the phyiscal layer, right click on a table, and select view data/update row count. Error with message "The connection has failed"
    5. Hoping for the best, create a simple query in answer and got the above odbc driver error in results tab.
Interestingly, if I edit the connection pool and use OCI (my SID is also orcl), then everything works fine.
I'm new to OBIEE and hope someone can tell me if I have missed a step or make any mistakes!
    Thanks!

    Hi All,
I am able to connect SQL Server database with OBIEE 11g RPD offline and imported metadata and verified update row count/view data but when i was trying to publish the same RPD the data is not returning also "update row count/view data" is giving and error "The connection has failed."

Oracle database is working fin, where as SQL Server is giving issues.
You want me to create a ODBC connection in RHL 5 server to connect to SQL Server ? i am little bit confused here how to create !
same time i have created ODBC for oracle apps database and imported and able to view data in RPD when i am in Online mode.
When i open RPD in online mode and trying to import the data i dont have access to local machine ODBC's which is expected and if i change to "Remote Server" nothing is showing here.
Appreciate your comments on the above.

    Hi,
1.) Make sure firewall open for that server.
    2) Try to enable TCP/IP via MYSQL configuration manager.
    3) then try to connect it.
    Thanks

Is that the "full" Client, not Instant Client?
Anyway, possibly you have a 64/32 bit mismatch (based on the system error 193, bad exe format). Do you have a 64-bit version of Office? If that is the case, is the Oracle Client and odbc driver installed also 64-bit?

  • Can't create ODBC connection in Windows Server 2012R2

I just finished installing the instant client & odbc connection on Windows Server 2008R2. I then attempted to perform the same installation on a new Windows Server 2012R2 instance and encountered the following issue.
After extracting the contents of the 64bit instant client & odbc files into c:\oracle\instantclient_12_1, adding this to the path statement, and adding a TNS_ADMIN environmental variable, I successfully ran odbc_install.exe from an admin cmd window. I then opened the 64bit ODBC Data Source Administrator, clicked add, selected the Oracle in instantclient_12_1, and clicked finish. As soon as I did so, I received the following error: "The setup routines for the Oracle in instantclient_12_1 ODBC driver could not be loaded due to system error code 126: The specified module could not be found. (c:\oracle\instantclient_12_1\SQORAS32.dll)"
I uninstalled the odbc client (odbc_uninstall.exe) and attempted again with the 32bit version & 32bit odbc configuration screen. I get the exact same result with 32bit as I do with 64bit.
    Any help would be appreciated.
EDIT: Nevermind. Apparently I needed the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable Package for the correct DLLs

    Hi,
    I am running Netweaver 7 and ERP2005.
J2EE support pack is 9. The sap note that you mentioned is for NW2004 and our system is running on NW2004s.
Now I am trying to reconfigure the sld. In case if you can suggest me another solution, I will be very happy to try that out...

  • Sybase ODBC Connection Issue in Windows Server 2008 R2

    Hi ,
We have three sybase odbc connection in Windows Server 2008 R2 server . One connection is not working now, it was working fine before 30 days.
I can ping the server address successfully from BO Server through "dsedit".
i have created the same connection in a diffrent server (Win server 2003),and it is working fine.
    Sybase ASE Driver version 3.50.00.10
Please help me to overcome this issue.
    Thanks,
    Saurabh upadhyay

    Hi Saurabh,
The error message you are reporting is telling us that you are using the very old ctlibrary ODBC Driver.
That is pretty much the only way you can get that error.
Run from a command prompt,  isql -v  that will return a version string.  We can then verify the version.
However, the old ODBC driver will function with the newer client.
The old driver would read the sql.ini for the network address, and was also a translation layer between
the client application and the ASE.
Both were eliminated when Sybase released the "Native" ODBC Driver.
The ct_connect error states that the connection attempt is using ctlibrary.
In your ODBC configuration, Check to see in the ODBC Administrator and check to make
sure that the driver you are using for your DSN is the Adaptive Server Enterprise and not the
    Sybase ASE ODBC Driver.
Also  check the Drivers tab in the ODBC Admin.  See what the actual file is listed for the driver.
    sysybnt.dll
    syodase.dll  are unsupported drivers.
It would be to your advantage to open an incident with SAP for more complete support
    Thank you,
    Kevin

  • Windows 7 64 bit and ODBC connect to Sql data source

    Hi
Just porting a simple test form over to new laptop with windows 7 64 bit and my odbc connect strings are not working properly.
They seem to work with Microsoft access, but not livecycle designer.
I tried the 32 bit ODBC drivers, and at least I can see the first record, but now I get an error when I try and execute a drop down to select a different record.
Looking at the forum history, a lot of Windows 7 issues but did not see one for ODBC connections....
Anyone have ODBC working on a Win 7 64 bit system?
    Do they work?
Do the 32 bit drivers work?

I believe that the 64 bit drivers are NOT working
the 32 bit drivers are working.- have them working now!

  • Windows Blue Screen Error Message Appears As Soon As IPod Connected

Everytime I connect my IPod to my computer, I get the Windows Blue Screen error message. Thought it was the cable, so plugged cable in by itself. No problem. Uninstalled IPod and ITunes software and then plugged in IPod, still got the Blue Screen. The Blue Screen says something about "recent plugged in device problem". It is not the cable, it must be the IPod. Did not have this problem when I bought it. Tried it on labtop and get the same error message. I can't do updater or anything that requires me to plug the IPod into a computer because the Blue Screen appears immediately. When I unplug, the Blue Screen remains and locks up the computer so I have to restart each time. I have tried everything I can think of. Please help.

Hi Mike thank you for replying,
I am not able to start the computer in safe mode, safe mode with networking, last good known configuration etc, Each time it quickly blue screens and restarts about two secs into the process.
I was unable to try a clean OS install from the disk as it gave the blue screen error shown in the original post. The same thing happened when I tried to use the repair option on the XP home disc. So i can't get into the computer at all to start diagnosing the fault, the only clue I have is the error message, and after searching the internet I haven't found much enlightenment from that yet.
If you can help me out or suggest where to search it would be much appreciated.
    Thx

  • CM1312 NFP: WIndows 7: USB Error message ~"Lost Connection"

With the 1312 connected to my Windwos 7 desktop, periodically Windows gives an error message that indicates that it has lost connection to the printer.  Unplugging and replugging the USB cable fixes the problem.  Otherwise the print & scan functions work perfectly.  Symptomatically it appears as if the printer goes to sleep and stops responding to whatever "keep alive" messages Windows might be sending.  Is there a setting in the printer, in Windows or in the printer driver software that can prevent this message?
BTW, the other way to work around this problem is to just access the printer via the Ethernet but the scan funciton is not accessible via the network (an unfortunate limitation).

    aluniewski,
I am sorry, but to get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since this is a commercial printer. You can do this at http://h30499.www3.hp.com/hpeb/ .
    I hope this helps.

  • IPhone 3G 2.1 connection error with iTunes 8 on Windows Vista Enterprise

I was previously able to connect my iphone with my work computer (Windows Vista Enterprise) and it would recognize my phone. However, since I updated my iphone to version 2.1, it will not recognize the phone and gives me the following error message:
"iTunes could not connect to the iphone because an unknown error occured (0xE8000024)."
I am able to connect my phone with version 2.1 to my home computer running Windows XP SP2.
Any idea what may be causing the connection error in Windows Vista?

    Hey TranceCadet,
This could be caused by a USB connection issue.
Make sure the iPhone is directly connected to a high speed USB port on the PC and not plugged into a hub, monitor, or keyboard. Disconnect any other USB devices, other than the keyboard and mouse.
This article has some general USB troubleshooting tips: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1286
You may also want to disable or reconfigure any security software. This article will walk you through putting the PC in a selective startup mode, which will bypass most application conflicts.
