Odi 11g functions and sequence

hello
what is the use of fucntions and sequence.
How do i create them in odi11g .
where in odi 11g is expression editor window available??

User Function Editor
Use to define your customized functions.
User functions enable to define customized functions that can be used in interfaces or procedures. These functions are implemented in one or more technologies. They are usable in the interfaces and procedures.
A function can be created as a global function or in a project. In the first case, it is common to all projects, and in the second, it is attached to the project in which it is defined.
goto
Home > Designer Navigator Editors > Package Editor > User Function Editor
Sequence Editor
Use to define sequences.
A sequence is a variable that increments itself each time it is used. Between two uses, the value can be stored in the repository or managed within an external RDBMS table.
Oracle Data Integrator supports three types of sequences:
Standard sequences: the last value is stored in the repository.
Specific sequences: the last value is stored in an RDBMS table cell. Oracle Data Integrator undertakes to read the value, to lock the row (for concurrent updates) and to update the row after the last increment.
Native sequences: this type of sequence to a sequence defined in and managed by a database engine.
goto
Home > Designer Navigator Editors > Package Editor > Sequence Editor
There is no expression editor component directly in any tree of the odi components.
You can find expression editor where you can write expressions.
For example writing filter expressions in a mapping, writing procedure commands etc

  • How To... Execute Planning Functions and Sequences from MS Office Ribbon

    Dear all,
    I am working with a SAP how to paper, which is called:
    How To... Execute Planning Functions and Sequences from MS Office Ribbon.
    It is working absolutely fine and I am pretty satisfied, but as you probably know "Control the visibility of a button based on the visibility of a related crosstab: the  button just disappears once the related crosstab is not located on the active sheet."
    This means, when I insert different queries in different crosstabs, only one crosstab will have my own created ribbon. Is it also possible to set another specific ribbon with other buttons for another crosstab? Can I change the macro, included in the appendix of the how to paper, regarding this issue?
    Thanks in advance!
    Kind regards
    Dominik Drebinger

    Hey Martin,
    thanks for your reply, but I solved the problem on my own. Unfortunately my colleague did not see that the crosstabs had to be defined differently.
    Like this:
    Label
    Screentip
    Msolmage name
    Crosstab name
    Copy Initial Aligned
    Copy Initial Aligned
    CacheListData
    SAPCrosstab1
    Copy Initial Aligned
    Copy Initial Aligned
    CacheListData
    SAPCrosstab3
    Copy Initial Aligned
    Copy Initial Aligned
    CacheListData
    SAPCrosstab5
    The macro, provided by the HowTo, is therefore working perfectly fine.
    Thanks though
    Dominik

  • Using PL/SQL code in ODI User Functions

    Is it possible to write PL/SQL code (with multiple in params and one out param) in ODI User Function ?
    Actually I need to use this user functions in my interface mapping.
    I know it can be done using ODI Procedures but Procedures cannot be used within interfaces when mapping columns.

    Hi Anurag Ambasta,
    You can use the ODI user functions and choose the Linked technology as 'Oracle' where you can implement and use oracle syntax .
    And the user functions can receive the multiple parameters and it returns the single value to the function cal, which use are expecting right?
    Thanks,
    Yellanki

  • Need Information of how to Consume/Execute Planning Function & Planning Sequence in Design Studio

    Dear Colleague,
    We are trying to have a PoC demonstrating BW planning function and Planning sequence in SAP Business Objects Design Studio.
    1. In the process, we have built our own Planning function and Planning sequences in our BW system and they are working as per expectation in the BW system.
    2. We added the Planning function and Planning Sequence on to the Design Studio App.
    But now how to we add these Planning function and Planning sequence on to the Dashboard.
    Is there any container to add these planning objects on to the dashboard.
    Or how to execute or Consume these Planning functions and sequences in Design Studio dashboard.
    And any Document or Information in detail would definitely help a lot.
    Please answer the question underlined.
    Thanks,
    Vijay

    Hi Mustafa,
    Thanks for replying!
    But Since this is an Internal project. We are already using Version 1.3.
    Solving double purpose of evaluating the tool and coming up with the application as well.
    As I said in my previous description, we were able to add Planning Functions and Planning Sequences on to Design Studio using menu options available.
    But not sure of how to consume or execute them in the app. To get the rows of records, change values, Save and Transfer values as we do it with the Planning function with BW backend.
    Thanks,
    Vijay

  • Problem when exporting and importing project from odi 10g to odi 11g

    Hi,
    I want to migrate my project from odi 10g to odi 11g.
    But when i am importing the interface then it is giving the error of mising references .
    I have exported the project(without its child component),models
    (including my datastore),KM's,folder (without its child component),packages(with child components),interaces(with child components),procedures(with child components),variables from odi 10g.
    After exporting all these objects i imported all the objects with import type set as "Synonym mode insert" into odi 11g but when i imported the interface it is giving the error of missing references.
    Source technolgy is Oracle and target technolgy is Postgres.
    Topologies have been made in the ODI 11g same as in ODI 10g.
    Please help.

    You dont need to migrate the complete repository. You can migrate a project at a time into ODI 11.1.1.5.x
    You have to be careful while importing. You have to follow a sequence when importing.
    Empty Project -> KMs -> Models (with DB Stores) -> Variable -> Empty Folders -> Interfaces -> Procedures -> Packages ---- All in SYNONYM mode insert (no exceptions)
    And your repository id in 11g MUST be different from the one in 10g.

  • Create sequence, function and view all at once -script or something similar

    Hi I would like to know in what way can I write a script or something like that which would define names for a sequence, function and a view in the beginning (for example TEST_SEQ, TEST_FJ, TEST_VIEW...) and after that create this sequence, function and view with definitions like
    CREATE SEQUENCE  TEST_SEQ
    MINVALUE 1 MAXVALUE 999999999999999999999999999
    INCREMENT BY 1 START WITH 1 NOCACHE  NOORDER  NOCYCLE;
    create or replace FUNCTION TEST_FJ RETURN NUMBER AS
    tmp number;
    BEGIN
    select TEST_SEQ.NEXTVAL  into tmp from dual
    RETURN tmp;
    END TEST_FJ;
    and so on...
    In the end I would also like to grant some rights on these objects I just created:
    grant select on TEST_SEQ to public;
    grant execute on TEST_FJ to public;
    So my question is how to package all these things together so I can execute them from a single file in SQL Developer, and if i need to change the names of these tables I want do it in one place in the beginning of this script (or something like a script, I'm not sure what)...
    Thanks in advance!

    hi,
    hope help you...
    this is my basic generic solution...
    create or replace procedure createSequence( psequenceName in varchar2 ) is
    begin
    execute immediate 'create sequence ' || psequenceName ;
    execute immediate 'grant select on ' || psequenceName || ' to public ';
    end ;
    create or replace function getNextVal( psequenceName in varchar2 ) return number is
    queryText varchar2(100) := 'select <sequence_name>.nextval into :next_value from DUAL' ;
    next_value number ;
    begin
    queryText := replace(queryText,'<sequence_name>',psequenceName);
    execute immediate queryText into next_value ;
    return( next_value ) ;
    end ;

  • ODI 11g SCD@ IKM is not updating End Time and Flag

    I am implementing this IKM from Oracle ODI 11g and after executing it inserts a new row/dimension [which is correct] but sets the flag indicator for old and new ros both to '1' and Ending Timestamp value is not set for old row [I was expecting the ending timestamp will be updated ot todays timestamp but not happening]. I follwed all the steps mentioend in SCD2 [in this forum] and made the column behaviour to appropirate SCD Behavior. I do not have any "Update Row on change" but all the details are "Add row on change" apart from Starting Timestamp, ending timestamp and Current Indicator flag.
    Can any one help me with this issue? Please let me know what details you need to debug or make analyze it.
    Thank you and appreciate in advance for your help

    I guess that is correct. 'historize old rows' was missing in my SCD2 [I have copied it from Oracle SCD2 and might have removed that command [??] But after your response, I checked and used the original SCD2 and it's working after fixing few issues with End Date in my data. Thanks .
    'Mav (watch TopGun?)' ofcourse Yeah!!

  • Planning function and planning sequence of Design studio new features!!

    Hi Experts
    Recently I have updated my design studio to 1.3 and happy to see many new updates. Meanwhile i saw some new features add planning function and planning sequence.
    As per my understanding, Using this features we can enter data at run time. My query is here
    Is it like we are entering data at run time and see the changes in current data(chart series)
    Ex: Add discount for product 10% and relevant data(in chart) reduced to 10%
    or
    Is it like integrated planning? Once we enter data in run time and it saves in BW planning cube?
    I am totally confused with this feature.. Can any one help me to get clear understanding on this please !
    Regards,
    Mathivanan M

    Hi,
    maybe these two article can help you:
    #1 Planning in Design Studio 1.3
    #2 Planning in DS 1.3 - Using different script methods for planning
    As i unterstand, it's only possible to write back in BW.

  • How to shutdown and start agent in ODI 11g in Linux Environment

    Hi Experts,
    Pls any one can help me on "How to shutdown and start agent in ODI 11g in Linux Environment" and where can I find Agent.sh and Agentshutdown.sh files location in ODI 11g and parallely how can I find Odiparameter.sh file location
    Thanks in Advance
    Regards
    Phani

    Phani ,
    Go to your <ODI_11g_HOME>/oracledi/agent/bin
    and you will find agent.sh , agent_<standalone_agent>.sh and odiparams.sh and other agent files.
    Step 1. Update your odiparams.sh
    Step 2. Create the Physical and Logical Agent int your Topology using the same port_number and name provide while creating the Stand alone agent during installation ( or) create accordingly the agent in Topology with name and port number as required and make the modification in agent_<stand_alone>.sh file
    Step 3. After doing so start your agent_<stand_alone>.sh
    Step 4. Repeat the process 2-3 for any number of stand alone agent created on different ports and steps 1 to 3 for different Work repository

  • ODI 11g and Weblogic Server Link

    Hi All,
    I am beginner to work on ODI. Currently installing ODI 11g. I wan to install ODI on my pc and my database is installed on another server.
    Can we Install ODI without weblogic server to work with database using connection string?
    Weblogic server is pre-requisite for ODI installation? or we can just install standalone and start it using by connecting database same like OWB.
    Please Help,
    Waqas

    If you want to have J2EE agent, then only you will need Weblogic server.
    Can we Install ODI without weblogic server to work with database using connection string?
    Yes, you can use Standalone or local agent to connect to database. Weblogic server is not mandatory. You should be good to go.
    Regards,
    Santy.

  • Load Plan and empty variables on ODI 11G

    Hi everyone,
    I am working with ODI 11g (11.1.1.7.0) and I want to setup a variable with the Load Plan, however I am not able to update and retrieve the variable value inside of a case that is always keeping the initial value. Even the operation history shows the variable value empty. Have you ever used Load plan and noticed this strange behavior?
    Regards,
    Angelo

    Okay let me try to help you on this.
    Oracle Data Integrator agents process each scenario execution instance as a session. Each session exists in the agent as a separate thread of the agent Java process.
    When a scenario is executed on an agent, the agent creates a session in the repository that corresponds to this scenario's instance. The agent reads each task of this session from the repository, processes it, and writes the result - the return code, message and tasks metrics such as the duration or number of rows processed - into the repository.
    Hence multiple session multiple thread.
    Hope you are clear now.
    Thanks.

  • DATE Format Error in ODI-11g(11.1.1.3)

    I am using ETL transformations in ODI-11g. There's a dominant issue regarding date formattings when I map an ODI variable (storing date) with a TGT column(datatype=date) mappings.
    In all the src-tgt mappings I am formatting the date by using TO_DATE() functions. But still getting the error:
    "ORA-01830: date format picture ends before converting entire input string".
    A point to Note: The same ETL in other env are ruuning fine but in my new dev env it's giving this date error.
    I had checked with the DBA folks and they confirmed they set equal DATE settings in all the env.
    The ODI Variable is defined as an "Alphanumeric".
    Tx Used: #BUSINESS_CURRENT_DT=TO_DATE('Date','YYYY-MM-DD')
    Require some urgent advice...Please let me know

    Hi,
    W store name-value pair in the Control table from where we exctract our data. Both (param name and param value) are varchars.
    Well this looks pretty strange in 11g! Here's what we found out...
    If you are trying to retrieve a date variable by using TO_DATE() in the refresh query the ODI Java driver (JDK 1.6) would call java.sql.timestamp and gracefully attach HH:MI:SS.NS along with the date (YYYY-MM-DD HH:MI:SS.NS). My target ia a date always..!
    So, when I do: TO_DATE('20101010','YYYY-MM-DD) in the refresh query ODI stores it as '2010-10-10 00:00:00.0'
    For this the Load always fails as Oracle would not be able to interpret a timestamp by suing TO_DATE()
    The Java driver does this damage. However, it may be wise to store as a timestamp rather as a date if in case u do a Data capture and want the exact time credentials.
    Unfortunately not a req, as of now for us so I had to chop-off the timestamp..!
    Let me know if you find any other details...
    Thanks.!
