ODI Delete Member

Hello,
I have a level0 member in the source file that was built into Planning. Now I deleted the level0 member in the source file and run ODI to update Planning, does that member get deleted in Planning or do I have it explicitily tell ODI to delete it?
Any suggestion is appreciated.

You have to use the operation column to define what type of load you are running, by default it is set as update,
The different types of operation are -
Update – This is the default and is used if not populated, it Add, updates, moves the member being loaded.
Delete Level0 - Deletes the member being loaded if it has no children
Delete Idescendants–Deletes the member being loaded and all of its descendants.
Delete Descendants–Deletes the descendants of the member being loaded, but does not delete the member itself.
Cheers

  • Cannot Delete member in Planning

    Hi All,
I am trying to delete a member from one of my custom dimensions in Planning (v11.1.1.3). When I try to delete it in Planning I get the message:-
"Deletion of member "Total Customer Food Ingredients" failed (member might be referenced elsewhere in application)."
When I try to perform a 'show usage' on the member there are no forms listed and I have checked business rules but I cannot find any reference to the member. Does anyone have any other ideas as to what other components of planning Ineed to check ?
    Thanks,

If that is the reason then this is still a known issue at 11.1.2, you can read about it in my Oracle Support - "Bug 7225626: CANNOT DELETE MEMBER IF RECORD IN DRIVER_MEMBER TABLE" and "Unable to Delete Dimension Member [ID 605175.1]"

  • Can ODI delete a file from an FTP server

    Hi
I'm downloading a file via FTP - but I want that file removed after it's downloaded.
So I want to 'move' the file down, rather than copy it... or delete it after it has downloaded
    Is this possible with ODI?
    Many thanks

  • BPC 7.5 : Error in deleting member from dimension

    Hi All
In BPC 7.5, I have created earlier one member "F_P/L"in Flow Dimension and tested some data. Now I want to delete the member "F_P/L" from the Flow Dimension and while processing it, I am getting following error :
" Dimension member F_P/L is an invalid member ID, Error in admin module"
I had deleted the tested data from BI by running the clear data package as data was existing in BI. Consequently, now for this member "F_P/L" it is showing "0.00".
Please give advise how to fix it.
    Thanks & Regards
    Aryan

    Hi Nilanjan,
I can leave that member as unused but problem is that I am unable to create any new member in that dimension. While processing the dimension with new member I am getting same error. As Such, I am not able to use such dimension. Yes, that dimension is used in application.
I need to add new member in the that dimension but due to above error I am not able to create any new dimension. Hence, I tried to delete such member F_P/L.
    Please suggest
    Thanks & Regards

  • ODI - Delete Shared Members?

    Hello,
I load a node in a Planning dimension with Shared Members using an ODI Interface. We have a need to remove all of these Shared Members before we perform the load. Is it then possible to remove all Shared Members from specific locations using ODI? I know that we can run the Delete Shared Members utility from the server where Planning is installed, but that is not possible for admin users who do not have admin rights to the server. Version 11.1.1.2, ODI version 10.1.3.
    Thanks in advance,
    Steve

    John,
Thanks for the reply. The dimension is in a Planning Application/database. I have a parent/child/Alias txt file that I used to load the dimension node with. Are you saying that it is possible to create an ODI interface that can "Delete Level 0" members? Below is a sample of the dimension via planning/dimensions. In this example, I would want to remove all members under the "COGS" node....or all "Shared Members". Below is also a sample of the file used to load the Shared Members.
    Thanks again,
    Steve

  • ODI - Delete Level0 through Microsoft SQL Server Source?

Is it possible to use ODI to delete members through a Microsoft SQL Server Source and a Planning target? I can load the members with a MS SQL source but can't seem to get the process to work when i add an operator (no matter which one i choose Delete IDescendants or Delete level0). I am able to get it to work with a file but would rather use the table to run the delete as well.

Using a relational table should be no different than using a flat file source.
I take it no errors are being generated, have you checked the SQL that is being generated in the operator, you should be able to lift it out of the step in the operator and run against sql server to see if the correct records are being returned.

  • Member Lists Don't Match & Unable to Delete Member

In the Oracle Beehive online URL (https://beehiveonline-apex.oracle.com) there is a list of my groups. When I select one by clicking "View group members", I see a member I wish to delete. However, that member is "verified", so to delete the instructions are to use the Beehive online Admin tool (https://beehiveonline.oracle.com/BOLAdmin.html). In that location I see the group, but the group lists don't match between the two locations. The group member I want to delete is "verified" in the first web site, but does not exist in the 2nd.
How do I delete this group member?

    Hi,
The groups should match unless someone has deleted the user from the group using the previous version of the delete user - it did not propagate into the APEX app the way the new one does.
If the user is not in the group in the BOLAdmin tool and not in the associated workspaxce they have probably been removed and if you let me know the name of the user I will tidy up the APEX app.
If the 2 viewsof the group are very different send me the details of the group name offline and I will see why they are so different - [email protected]

    Hi,
    >>ORA-01624: log 2 needed for crash recovery of instance plasma (thread 1)
In this case, you must restore a backup and perform incomplete recovery up to the most recent available redo log. Do you have a backup of your database ? Your database is working in ARCHIVELOG mode ?
See if this link below can help you:

  • How to delete a member in the EAS Outline by writing a script

    Hi,
I have to delete a member from a the EAS outline. Tried deleting it manually. It throws a error stating that outline cannot be saved. Hence they restarted the services and i was able to delete the member manually. I later had a thought that may be we can write a calc script to delete that particular member. First i have to delete all the data in that member and then the member is empty after that delete the member. Not sure if we can do it. Can we do this process. If yes how do we need to go ahead with it. If there is any option pl. do let me know. I would like to avoid the manual deletion hence would like to automate.
    It is a BSO cube.
Can anyone help me regarding this?
    Regards
    Praveena

To echo Glenn, if this a pure Essbase database (and I think it is), ODI's member deletion would be through a dimension load rule. There are multiple threads on this board about "remove unspecified". If there's another way to do it, I'd love to hear it.
However, if this the back end to a Planning application, ODI can do member, children of member, descendant deletes, etc. It all depends on what the target environment provides.

  • ODI logs deleted after scenario refresh

    Hi,
I'm using a load plan which starts half a dozen scenarios.
All scenarios are packages scenarios version 001.
When I modify any package I regenerate any related scenario.
(Basically I'm not using the versioning system supplied by ODI, but I need to generate scenarios anyhow because ODI does not allow packages in load plans).
So fa so good, everything works despite an issue with the logs.
Every time I regenerate a scenario, ODI deletes all the related logs.
To me, this does not make sense.
In example I wuold like to see if the "new" scenario impacts loading times, but I have no more "old" scenario logs.
Any way to avoid logs deletion after scenarios regeneration?
    ODI 11.1.1.6
    Regards,
         Corrado

    Hi,
thank you for pointing it out, but the user parameter "Delete linked sessions with scenarios" is already set to "No".
(Also the docs seems to say this parameter only applies to manual deletion of scenarios from GUI).

  • Deleting Sparse member would clear respective  Blocks

    Hi Guru,
I have to delete historical data for past 4 years. To delete the data & also to clear the blocks associated with that (to be deleted) member, one option is to use “clearBlock" in the calc Script. However we are thinking of an easier method. Can we simply delete the Year member from the database? Since Year dimension is a Sparse dimension, by deleting a Year member (eg FY04) all data including blocks created with reference to the FY04 would also get cleared. Is our perception correct?
Thanks in advance for your suggestions..

  • Error while deleting a project

    Hello
I want to delete a project : I 'm using the "delete" command after right-cliking. ODI deletes all interfaces, variables and so on but not the project itsel :
    I get the message :
com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: L'instruction DELETE est en conflit avec la contrainte REFERENCE "FK_UFUNC_TECHNO". Le conflit s'est produit dans la base de données "MLPODI_MAINT", table "dbo.SNP_UFUNC_TECHNO", column 'I_UFUNC_IMPL'.
In inglish, it should be something like :
com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: th DELETE instruction is conflicting with REFERENCE constraint "FK_UFUNC_TECHNO". The conflict has occured in the database "MLPODI_MAINT", table "dbo.SNP_UFUNC_TECHNO", column 'I_UFUNC_IMPL'.
Does any has experienced this ? How to delete my project ?

Thank you all, HTH and Jitendra
Thanks to your advise and after reading more carefully the error message, I can now understand what's happening :
My project includes a user function that causes the issue : ODI can't delete the project because it can't delete this user function.
But I can't understand what's happening whith this function : it seems to be in a tricky situation : it has nos syntax and no description though it shoud not be possible to create a user fucntion whithout populating these fields.
When I try to enter a syntax, I have another error message talking about conflict and FK.
I can see the line related to this function in the SNP_UFUNC, SNP_UFUNC_IMPL and SNP_UFUNC_TECHNO tables. I tried unsuccessfully to delete the line (though I guess this action could be dangerous). I don't know what to do now ?

  • Best practice for deleting data

I need to clear several years' worth of data from our environment.  In addition, we have a number of categories that need to be cleared as well.  Is there any need to actually clear the data prior to making making the dimension changes?  Or is it enough to simply remove the time periods and categories in question and process those dimensions?

    Hi Pablo,
If your requirement is clearing only transactional  data you can clear via clear data manager package and if you want delete master data of time and category, first you need to clear all the trasactional data of that member and then delete master data. You can not delete directly master data without deleting trasactional data, if there is data associated to that member system will not allow to delete member.

  • Delete dimension members

    Hi,
I am trying to delete some members in a dimension, however when I process the dimension, I get an error message, saying the member is being used.
I had run the CLEAR DM package for the member in question, so I was a bit surprised but then found that the database still contained zero values for this member.
I found this thread (Delete member of a dimension) where is says to either run a light optimize or compress the cube.
I did run the light optimize, which made no difference at all, the zero values are still present.
My question is, how do I compress the cube with zero-eliminations. Is that something I can do from the BPC Admin console?
    Thanks,
    Arnold

    Hi
    The following possibilities are there:
    01. The Dimension along with its members might be used by Calling/linking it in to another Application
    02. The member access to the dimension might be given to all users in the AppSet and used it by some of the users.
(The possibilites of revoking the permissions granted to that Dimesnion prior to used by another user for another Application are remote, unless the another Application has to be deleted)
    03. Though you've tried to delete the data from the existing member forcibly from back end, it still exist with its image of Cube  as it is referring to another Application.
suggestions: Please cross verify the above possibilites
    regards
    ukraghu
