ODS Designing.

Hi Bw Experts,
Currently i am developing the report for <b>Advance Payments for Suppliers</b> according to the Project.I have identified the datasource as 0FI_AP_4.For project details i have identified the datasource as 0PROJECT_ATTR.I have a doubt While designing the ODS. I just want to know which is the Common key field for both of the datasources.
Please help on this issue.
Thanks,
Ram.

+Technical Name: 0FIAP_O03
Use
The ODS object Accounts Payable: Line Items contains all line items transferred from the source system(s) using the InfoSource Accounts Payable Line Items (0FI_AP_3). All fields in the InfoSource are transferred to the ODS object.+
+
Use
This DataSource extracts Accounts Payable Accounting line items from tables BSIK (open items) and BSAK (cleared items) in the R/3 source system.
This DataSource replaces DataSource 0FI_AP_3 (Accounts Payable: Line Items) and uses the same extraction structure. The migration of DataSource 0FI_AP_3 to new DataSource 0FI_AP_4 is described in OSS note 410797.
·         Source structure: BSIK, BSAK
·         Extractor: BWFID_GET_FIAP_ITEM
·         Extract structure OLTP: DTFIAP_3+
What is with 0PROJECT_ATTR its Master data attribute datasource for 0PROJECT.

  • Three questions about the creation of secondary indexes in ODS design mode

    1. When we right click the Indexes folder in ODS design to select Create to create the Index folder 010, a small window pops up with a check box called "Unique", do we have to check this checkbox to create folder 010?
    2. If we would like to include 3 InfoObjects into the secondary indexes, then how many folders we need to create? Need to create 3 folders like 010, 020, and 030 and place the 3 InfoObj. into the 3 folder respectively or create only one folder 010 and place all the 3 InfoObj. into this one folder 010?
    3. In SAP documentation titled "BW Performance Tuning" about the Indices, it says "If the (uncompressed) F fact table is small, it is usually faster to drop the secondary (bitmap) indices before the load and build them up after the load"
Someone here says secondary index is only for ODS other than for cubes, but from the above statement, F fact table is related to cubes, then how to explain it? Also the above statement is talking above the variant in process chain that when you bring in a variant to load data to cube, then the drop index and generate index variants will be automatically created, does it refer to this? And what's bitmap index?
Thanks in advance and we will continue to give you reward points!

    Hi Kevin,
Cube has Secondary index's. The index's that we find in the Manage of the Cube are the Secondary Index's. Please check the following link for more information.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2004/helpdata/en/80/1a6473e07211d2acb80000e829fbfe/frameset.htm
Also, to know about Unique indexes, use the following link
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2004/helpdata/en/9b/c743f5b40711d194f900a0c929b3c3/frameset.htm
"The indexes displayed are the secondary indexes of the F and E fact tables for the InfoCube. The primary indexes and those defined by the user are not displayed. " (SAP help).
    This should answer your questions.

  • Cube or Ods design datamodelling question

    Hi gurus,
I have below data coming from 2 different source in 2 different ods---
    ODS1
    INo....Lookup No.....Material....
    11.....a11..............mat1
    12....a12...............mat1
    13.....a13..............mat2
    14....a14...............mat2
another datasource is bringing data in ods2 like below:::
    INo....IdentifierParent...Unique--Identifier......Valid from................Valid to
    11......777......................771.............................1/1/2010................12/1/2010
    12......777......................772.............................1/1/2010................12/1/2010
    13......778......................773.............................1/1/2010................12/1/2010
    14......778......................774.............................1/1/2010................12/1/2010
    Q1----now if i build ODS3 which has update rules of ODS1 & ODS2, with Key = INo.
How will the data look like ?????
Q2----If i build Infocube with update rules from ODS1 & ODS2 (no ods in between) how will the data look like
Q3----also is there need of Key in Update rules from Ods to Infocube ??
just tryinng to understand the data storage techniques in cubes vs ods
    and advantages of infocubes

    Hi,
Here are the answers for your queries.
Ans 1: If your ODS 3 is having Key a IN0 then this will be the data in ODS3 after completing loadind data from 2 ODSes
    INo....Lookup No.....Material...IdentifierParent...Unique--Identifier......Valid from................Valid to
    11.....a11..............mat1..........777......................771.............................1/1/2010................12/1/2010
    12....a12...............mat1.........777......................772.............................1/1/2010................12/1/2010
    13.....a13..............mat2........778......................773.............................1/1/2010................12/1/2010
    14....a14...............mat2.........778......................774.............................1/1/2010................12/1/2010
    Ans 2:
If you do loading to Cube then all the records from the two ODSes will be added depending upon the sequence of the laod as shwon below
    INo....Lookup No.....Material...IdentifierParent...Unique--Identifier......Valid from................Valid to
    11.....a11..............mat1..........                       ...                           .......                  ..............
    12....a12...............mat1..........                       ...                           .......                  ..............
    13.....a13..............mat2..........                       ...                           .......                  ..............
    14....a14...............mat2..........                       ...                           .......                  ..............
    11...        .............      .......  777......................771.............................1/1/2010................12/1/2010
    12....        ...............     ........777......................772.............................1/1/2010................12/1/2010
    13.....        ..............     ........778......................773.............................1/1/2010................12/1/2010
    14....                            .........778......................774.............................1/1/2010................12/1/2010
You need to goo for some lookup routines if you want to fill cube in similar manner the ODS 3 has data in it..
    Hope it helps you...

In that case then you can add the indicator and status field as the key in your ODS.

  • ODS Capability of 2LIS_02_SCL

    All,
I am having an issue with the 2LIS_02_SCL (Purchasing Schedule lines extractor) that I just cannot figure out.
    Here is the situation....
I have created an ODS layer in front of a set of data targets...one data target is a cube that is modeled from the 0PUR_C01/04 design, with some enhancements, and the other is the 0PUR_DS03 with some enhancements.
Now, my ODS layer is set up like this...
2LIS_02_SCL enters first into PSA...like normal.
Then the data from the PSA is loaded into a set of ODS objects I have created. Basically, each ODS is exactly the same, with the only difference being the start routines.
In each start routine, I delete all records I do not want. For instance, I have ODS objects for the process keys...(PO's are stored seperate than GR's, same for IR's)
So, 2LIS_02_SCL goes into "N" number of ODS objects, that look the same, just each one keeps only subsets of data.
    POs/Scheduling agreements
    Goods REceipts
    Invoice Receipts
    Returns..
    etc...
The main three I am concerned with are the first Three..PO's, GR's and IR's.
The start routines only keep the proper process keys. For instance:
    PO's ODS:
DELETE DATA_PACKAGE WHERE PROCESSKEY NE '001' AND
                              PROCESSKEY NE '011' AND
                              PROCESSKEY NE '021' AND
                              PROCESSKEY NE '004' AND
                              PROCESSKEY NE '014' AND
                              PROCESSKEY NE '024'.
    GR's ODS:
DELETE DATA_PACKAGE WHERE PROCESSKEY NE '002' AND
                              PROCESSKEY NE '012' AND
                              PROCESSKEY NE '022'.
    IR's ODS:
DELETE DATA_PACKAGE WHERE PROCESSKEY NE '003' AND
                              PROCESSKEY NE '023'.
    etc...
Now, I have mapped everything correctly. (STORNO is mapped to 0RECORDMODE.)
The key of all ODS objects is the PO number, Item and Schedule line.
    Note:
Now, originally, I had thought to keep all process key types in one ODS, and to do that, I would have just needed to add another key of PROCESSKEY to the ODS. But, I wanted the flexibility to possibility to be flexible with having to process the same data over and over. Just some reasoning why I don't use just one ODS....
Now, what I am seeing is incorrect GR and IR quantities.
My Schedule line values (Scheduled Quantities) are completely correct!  But in the ODS layer I am seeing GR and IR values that don't completely match up.
Now, I understand certain conditions in R/3 make schedule lines behave interestingly. For instance, over deliveries, or under deliveries are allocated to the first open Schedule line. Meaning, if I have an open schedule line of 100 PC and I get a GR of 150 PC, then 100 PC is allocated to the 100 PC schedule line and 50 PC is allocated to the next open schedule line. But for some reason I am not getting the correct values. But SAP handles that and on the delta's allocates occordingly, and in my ODS objects, I just overright.
So, if today, I have this situation:
    PO___ITEM__LINE___SCDQTY____RECQTY
    123___10_____14______50_______25
    123___10_____15______100_______0
    123___10_____16______200_______0
    123___10_____17______200_______0
Then tomorrow, I receive 150 PC:
    PO___ITEM__LINE___SCDQTY____RECQTY
    123___10_____14______50_______50
    123___10_____15______100______100
    123___10_____16______200_______25
    123___10_____17______200_______0
*then this is what I should see....but sometimes I do not!
Now, I am certain I have mapped the data correctly from the ODS layer to the cube layer. For instance, for one process key type, a Key Figure value means one thing, and for another, that same key figure, may mean something else. For instance, CPQUAOU is both a GR qty and and IR qty, given the right Process key is determined.
Also, is there a limit on the LBWQ entries? I remember hearing something about 300,000 entries in the queue before you may lose data?
Also, is there a transaction I can look at in R/3 to see if any LBWQ (SMQ1) entries have been deleted? I used to remember this, but forgot it a while back...
I think the ODS design is correct. So, it points me back to R/3. But I want to make sure I don't have any flaws before I resort to trying to figure out what the functional teams have done on the R/3 side.
I have also investgated the PSA and it appears that on the PO Process key type (4), I have a schedule line that has both the same GR and PO qty. But in the GR ODS, I don't have teh GR...which makes we wonder what in the world SAP is doing with that schedule line?
So, I am wondering if any of you gurus have come across this and how you corrected the issue(s).
    Thanks in advance!
    Cheers!
    Steve

Stev, Am strongly suspecting on Schedule line (Infoobject)as it is been defined as a key field, per my knowledge if the schedule lines are differ then you wont get the reference values..
Why dont you remove schedule line IO for once and upload the data.
    Hope you get some clues...

  • APD : Query to ODS ?

    Dear All,
I have to push data coming from a query report on Stock to a transactional ODS using APD.My aim is to make a multicube of this ODS and another cube. In APD the structure I made
    Query-----Filter--
    ODS.
But in the query there is a keyfigure : Total Stock Issue Vol : (CK_TSIVOL) which is used many times using different conditions and exceptions e.g. it is used to find TRF out , F2b Issue Vol , Total Issues , Sales which are all different columns in the report . In my ODS I have included this key figure. But how do I link the different fields in query as shown above to 1 field(CK_TSIVOL) in ODS?
    Regards,
    Ratish

    Ratish,
APD would not work with conditions.... and the best way to check the same would be to extract the query using rscrm_report or rscrm_bapi and that is the data that will go into the transactional ODS...
As for your ODS design - create key figures in your transact ODS for the other fields and then map the query to the same...

    Hi,
    *Steps*
Start with Reports. What the client is using. What he is expecting.
If he got existing reports map the fields with Business Content BW Fields. Go to Business content and make a list of queries which are delivered from SAP. Explain them the KPI's. This should be good to start with. Also check the Tcodes they use.
Look for DataSources that get data from theses Tcode's.
Project Preparation (Initial stuff -- Do a conceptual review after this phase requirements gathering)
Collect requirement thru interviews with Business teams /Core users / Information Leaders.

    can u tell me
    1) the workflow of a sap BW end to end lifecycle.....wat cud be the answer, (kindly explain me in detail from beginning till end)

    Hi,
Start with Reports.
Study & analyze KPI's (key figures) of Business process.
    Identify the measurement criteria's (Characteristics).
Understand the Drill down requirements if any.
Understand the Business process data flow if any.
Identify the needs for data staging layers in BW – (i. e need for ODS if any)
    Understand the system landscape.
Prepare Final Requirements Documents in the form of Functional Specifications containing:
Report Owners, Data flow, KPI's, measurement criteria's, Report format along with drilldown requirements.
Business Blue print (Functional spec-- Do a design review after this phase)
Check Business content against the requirements
    Check for appropriate
Info Objects - Key figures & Characters
Check for Info cubes / ODS
Check for data sources & identify fields in source system
Identify Master data document all the information in a file – follow standard templates
    Prepare final solution
Identify differences (Gaps) between Business Content & Functional specification.
Propose new solutions/Developments & changes if required at different levels such as Info Objects, Info cube, Data source etc. Document the gaps & respective solutions proposed– follow standard templates
    Design & Documentation
Design the ERD & MDM diagrams for each cube & related objects
Design the primary keys/data fields for intermediate Storage in ODS
Design the Data flow charts right from data source up to Cube.
Consider the performance parameters while designing data models
Prepare High level / Low level design documents for each data model. --- Follow standard templates
Identify the Roles & Authorizations required and Document it – follow standard templates
Final review of design with core BW users.
    Sign off the BBP documents

Check & Apply Latest Patches/Packages ...in BW & R/3 systems.
Activate/Build & enhance the cubes/ODS as per data model designs...maintain the version documents.
Identify & activate Info objects / Master data info sources / attributes, prepare update rules
Assign data sources .prepare transfer rules, prepare multi providers. Prepare Info packages.
Perform the unit testing for data loads….both for master data & transaction data.
Develop & test the end user queries.
Design the process chains, schedule & test

  • Please  implementation help

I am new to BI7. My boss was telling me that I should be starting a Is- manufacturing project from requirements gathering and the areas involved are sd,mm,pp,fi,hr.
Also it is a greenhouse implementation, and I will have to extract data from R/3 4.6, ecc 6, oracle.
My boss asked me if I could throw some light on the issues which are of concern to me, issues like what I should be asking the company people . I myself worked as a part of team before, but now I am the only one in the project so if anyone could help me through.
The problem is I may have to visit the client and give the feedback to my boss and my team which is elsewhere(outsourced). So please tell me things which are of primary concern.
