Regarding implementation

hi guru's
am being included in a new BI project which is based on SAP NW 2004s & CRM
how to start? where to start?
am new to development
can any one help me in this regard?
jeeva

Hi,
Start with Reports. What the client is using. What he is expecting.
If he got existing reports map the fields with Business Content BW Fields. Go to Business content and make a list of queries which are delivered from SAP. Explain them the KPI's. This should be good to start with. Also check the Tcodes they use.
Look for DataSources that get data from theses Tcode's.
Project Preparation (Initial stuff -- Do a conceptual review after this phase requirements gathering)
Collect requirement thru interviews with Business teams /Core users / Information Leaders.
Study & analyze KPI's (key figures) of Business process.
Identify the measurement criteria's (Characteristics).
Understand the Drill down requirements if any.
Understand the Business process data flow if any.
Identify the needs for data staging layers in BW – (i. e need for ODS if any)
Understand the system landscape.
Prepare Final Requirements Documents in the form of Functional Specifications containing:
Report Owners, Data flow, KPI's, measurement criteria's, Report format along with drilldown requirements.
Business Blue print (Functional spec-- Do a design review after this phase)
Check Business content against the requirements
Check for appropriate
Info Objects - Key figures & Characters
Check for Info cubes / ODS
Check for data sources & identify fields in source system
Identify Master data document all the information in a file – follow standard templates
Prepare final solution
Identify differences (Gaps) between Business Content & Functional specification.
Propose new solutions/Developments & changes if required at different levels such as Info Objects, Info cube, Data source etc. Document the gaps & respective solutions proposed– follow standard templates
Design & Documentation
Design the ERD & MDM diagrams for each cube & related objects
Design the primary keys/data fields for intermediate Storage in ODS
Design the Data flow charts right from data source up to Cube.
Consider the performance parameters while designing data models
Prepare High level / Low level design documents for each data model. --- Follow standard templates
Identify the Roles & Authorizations required and Document it – follow standard templates
Final review of design with core BW users.
Sign off the BBP documents
Realization ( Develop; Do a configuration review after this phase)
Check & Apply Latest Patches/Packages ...in BW & R/3 systems.
Activate/Build & enhance the cubes/ODS as per data model designs...maintain the version documents.
Identify & activate Info objects / Master data info sources / attributes, prepare update rules
Assign data sources .prepare transfer rules, prepare multi providers. Prepare Info packages.
Perform the unit testing for data loads….both for master data & transaction data.
Develop & test the end user queries.
Design the process chains, schedule & test
Create authorizations / Roles …assign to users..And test
Apply necessary patches & Notes if any freeze & release the final objects to quality systems
perform quality tests.
Re design if required. (Document changes, maintain versions)
Final Preparation ( QA and Other final stuff before moving to production, Do a performance Review after this phase)
Prepare the final check list of objects to be released .identify the dependencies & sequence of release perform Go Live checks as recommended by SAP in production system
Keep up to date Patch Levels in Production system
Test for production scenarios in a pre-production system which is a replica of production system.
Do not encourage the changes at this stage.
Freeze the objects.
Go Live and support ( to production and support)
Keep up to date Patch Levels
Release the objects to production system
Run the set ups in R/3 source system & Initialize Loads in BW
Schedule Batch jobs in R/3 system (Delta loads)
Schedule the process chains in BW.
Performance tuning – on going activity
Enhancements - if any

  • Need help regarding implementing SSAS solution using microsoft decision trees algorithm

    Hi All,
I am new to SSAS and Data Mining techniques. I dnt have a good knowledge about data mining in SSAS.  I have a requirement regarding predictive analysis and want to check whether i can implement SSAS for it.
I have two tables namely Tree and Node. The Tree table has the columns namely NodeID, ParentID and Level. The ParentID in the tree table represents a node in the node table and at the same time the nodeid in the tree table also represents the nodeid in the
    node table.
If you run the below query, it will list out all the possibilities of getting the nodename 'CTRYIMPACT - High - PRODIMPACT - Low - Question 6'
    select p.*
    from Node n, Tree t, Node p
    where n.NodeName='CTRYIMPACT - High - PRODIMPACT - Low - Question 6'
    and n.NodeId = t.NodeId
    and t.ParentId = p.NodeId
I want to predict the various nodenames that are possible by inputting a NodeID using analysis services. If this is done, then i can implement it in my project.
I went over this link to know about implementing decision tress but, they have used only a single table in the example. Since I have two tables i am struck in the middle. And also they have not specified clearly of what they need to achieve. They have just
stated that on changing the play the value changes.

Can anyone help me with this?
Below is the link for data containing the values for the Node and Tree table.

Thanks you and Kind Regards, Karthik Venkatraman

    Hi Karthink,
Acording to your description, you need to predict the various nodenames that are possible by inputting a NodeID using analysis services, right?
In your scenario, in order to make prediction in Data Mining Model, we would create a prediction query. Before we can create a prediction query, we need to build a Data Mining Model. Please refer to the links below to see the detail infomaton.

  • Regarding Implementation of  Custom Validation.

    Hi,
I have made a customize validatioin rule and a swing which used to input validation rule parameter.
    I created 3 files
    1) CustomRule.java
    2) CustomRuleBeanInfo.java
    3) CustomRuleCustomizer.java
But I am not able to pass value from swing component to CustomRule.java . it is coming as null .
Can anyone help me out in resolution .
    Thanks and Regards,
    Anoop Sharma

    Hi Uryikin,
    Thanks for your response.
Standard Retractor does not satisfy the Business requirement in full.
The RFC connection you have suggested is what we are implementing through RSPLAN function Type creation.
In the RSPLAN we are implementing a Class which will fetch the Data from the Infoobject.
This infoobject will be fed from the target Infocube. After this Class getting populated Mapping will be done b/w BI source fields and the R/3 source fields.
Now the problem arise when a Function Module needs to be created that will actually bring the data to R/3 side.
The server where  Data Load function Module is to written is still unknown to me..
The Function Module Return type is also unknown...
As this is totally customised we have to identify the return type for submission of Blueprint...
Kindly refer to this link we are implementing this same steps only on different scenario...

  • Regarding Implementation phases

What are the phases in SAP Implementation and in which phase data migration takes place?

    hi
Following are the steps involved in SAP implementation using ASAP methodology
Phase 1- Project preparation: initial planning and preparation.
Phase 2 - Business Blueprint: documentation of the business process requirements of the company.
Phase 3 - Realization: implement all business and process requirements based upon the business blueprint.
Phase 4 - Final Preparation: complete testing, user training, system management and cut-over activities.
Phase 5 - Go-Live & Support: transition from implementation to production.
Care to be taken at mapping the current business scenario into SAP system during Busines Blue Print Phase .Business users should have understanding of SAP system prior to Implementation.
These are some of the details you can look for:
    Business Goals
Know how your project will benefit the business, and make sure you communicate those benefits to the employees who will use the technology. Poorly defined goals doom a technology project; well-defined goals help keep all project personnel working together. The system with unclear business benefits is one better left unsponsored and undone.
    User Involvement
Getting user buy-in requires more than just communicating benefits. It also helps dramatically to enlist users' collaboration in designing or selecting the system.
To convince business line managers to lend their workers to the front end of a project, executives recommend talking to their wallets.
    Risk Management
Every I.T. project faces risk, whether it is technical (caused by unproven technology or integration problems) or business risk. Veterans say project sponsors should not only understand the risks but also demand that contingency plans be put in place before the first nail is hammered. But even though risk management is a project management basic, it is easy for executives with little technical knowledge to ignore it because they are intimidated by the technology. Fortunately, they also say technical risk is easier to manage than business risk. If the project hinges on a relatively new technology, it makes sense to build and test a prototype before going whole hog.
    Scope Management
Keeping requests for new features from derailing or slowing down a project is a step that should be handled by the project manager, but occasionally the executive sponsor has the clout to say no to a request the IT leaders can't refuse. Besides inflating costs, scope creep can deflate user enthusiasm as the project's benefits are pushed off. Getting the project done quickly is a good goal for the executive sponsor to champion; bells and whistles can be added later, after the initial rollout. "Vanilla is a very good flavor"
    Appropriate Accountability
No accountability, no progress--that's no surprise. The challenge in IT projects is to hold the right people accountable for the right deliverables. The IS department's job is to hand over the specified level of system functionality by the due date. After that, it's up to the business workers to get the specified business benefits out of the system. And the executive sponsor should make sure accountability is in place to enforce that division of labor.
Non-IT execs have a tendency to exaggerate the role IS workers will play after a system is rolled out. As a result, it is common to point the finger for system failure at IS. That gives the other employees less incentive to make the new system work.
IS and business line workers develop a lot more synergy when both feel an equal burden of responsibility.
    Helpful Hype
Amidst all the spreadsheets, numbers, risk analyses and so forth, remember to add a spoonful of sugar for those who will actually have to use the technology.

    hope it will help you

Depends on your experience and the technical knowledge you have. Yes, there are implementation / upgrade projects are going on. Whats on the existing company are there no implementation projects? are you willing to change the job then you need to search on the job search sites. Where are the requirements for project implementations.
If you are sound in technical and has exprience then you will get.

  • Issue regarding implementing the PM Spare Parts Scanning process

    Dear friends,
I have the following issue. It seams that the client, who want to implement the scanning procedure for the PM Spare Parts, can not do this with wireless scanners if the maintenance of the spare parts is done with Inventory Management means and has requested to implement Warehouse Management integration. The fact is that I know that IM can be use. And I know, also, that the basic needs for IM use is that the materials have activated the Batch Management and, the scanning is based on batch bar code/material bar code, together with - for GR - PO bar code and, for GI - the WO bar code. But the issue regarding the wireless baffles me. Please, can you tell me what is the way for setting the wireless connection for the scanners in IM? Thank you very much for your kindness.
    Sorin

    hi,
It basically depends how your business process is designed for producing Spare Parts before they are reworked.
rework order can be cerated without material with reference to original production order whcih is responsible for proeducing that SFG.

  • Question regarding implementation of Portal Service

    Hello,
I want to create a portal service that calls our R/3 system and comes back with customer master data. For that I have to hand over the userid to the portal service.
    The Interface looks like that:
    import com.sapportals.portal.prt.service.IService;
    import com.lgs.model.CustomerDataBean;
    public interface IR3CustDataService extends IService
        public static final String KEY = "R3CustDataService";
// returns an object with all customer master data from R/3
         public CustomerDataBean getCustomerData(String userid);
The implementation of the method in the corresponding class is:
    CustomerDataBean cdb = new CustomerDataBean();
    public CustomerDataBean getCustomerData(String userid) {
              return cdb;
Now I would implement the program logic (accessing R/3 and fill the CustomerDataBean) in the init method of the portal service class.
    public void init(IServiceContext serviceContext) {
                    mm_serviceContext = serviceContext;
implementation of program logic, usage of userid necessary
My question is now how I can use the String userid in the init method? How can I hand over the userid to the init method so that I can use it?
    Any hint is really appreciated!
    Thanks a lot.

  • Query regarding implementation of HashSet and TreeSet and AbstractSet

I have found that the treeSet and HashSet extends AbstractSet and implements Cloneable and Serializable interfaces.
What happens if AbstractSet itself implements Cloneable and Serializable interfaces, so that The HashSet and TreeSet need not to implement separately?
Is it a design concern or is there any logic behind in doing so?
    I appreciate your quick response..
    Thanks
    Shiva kumar

It would mean that anybody else such as me who extended AbstractSet would be stuck with my implementation being serializable and cloneable whether I wanted or not. No doubt the designers wanted to provide the freedom not to do so.

  • Query regarding implementing non leading ledger

    Hi friends,
I am suppose to implement the non leading ledger along with the leading ledger. Its fiscal year is from Jan - Dec. I have a query that is there any issues at the year change ( like any kind of adjustment at year end) and what are the things needed to be carried out at the beginning of the year.

    Dear Mr.Anand,
Could you please clear the below points.
    1. Are you using NewGL ?
    2. Want to add the Non-Leading ledger ?
    3.  "I am suppose to implement the non leading ledger along with the leading ledger" means want to implement both ledgers
like Leading ledger and non leading ledger
    4. You want to classic ledger to New ledger ?
If you are using classic ledger then you need to go for newgl migration.
IF you allready using the NewGL and want to add non leading leadger then useing the New GL migration scenarios 6, 7,8.

  • Regarding implementations of interfaces

In Collection framework API, all the interfaces have been provided with adapter classes, which provide most of the skeletal implementation for those interfaces. The classes which are extended from these adapter classes are again implementing all the super interfaces. Why? For what reason, the ArrayList, HashSet etc., are implementing the interfaces List, Collection & Set, Collection respectively.

Perhaps the list of interfaces isn't stored in plain text, but for a small class that extends ArrayList I see this:.......1........
    <init>...()V...C
    ode...LineNumber
    Table...main...(
    [Ljava/lang/Stri
    ng;)V...SourceFi
    le...deleteme.ja

    eteme$1CustomCla
    ss...CustomClass
    ...InnerClasses.
    ............My n

    leteme...java/ut
    il/ArrayList...(
    Ldeleteme;)V...a
    dd...(Ljava/lang
    /Object;)Z.!....
    ..............D.
    ..........Y...M.
    ..Y*...N,-...W..
.............II don't see all the interfaces listed in the class file itself. Maybe I don't know what I'm talking about, but I'm sure I don't know what you're talking about. Perhaps your decompiler is looking up the inheritence tree.
I effect, the real class ArrayList DOES implement interface List. I don't understand the problem.

  • Please advise regarding implementing pub/sub in a BPEL process.

    Hi guys,
    Requirement
The customer information comes as HTTP/SOAP message and is sent to the BPEL process as input. BPEL uses ESB and database adapters to create the customer in Oracle apps. Now, we need to send the same customer information with the Oracle apps customer number to some other systems. The number of systems is not know at this time, so we need a pub/sub mechanism where we can publish the customer creation event with the required parameters (customer name, number, etc.). Then we just create subscriptions to that event as an when required. This gives us the flexibility to add subscriptions withougt changing the initial BPEL process.
    My questions
I can think of three ways to do this, please advise.
    1. Use Oracle workflow business events and subscriptions. At the end of the BPEL process, raise the wf event and the subscriptions to that will be processed by workflow engine. My doubt here is that most of the times the subscriptions is another BPEL process, so does it make sense to go from BPEL to WF and then WF to PL/SQL to invoke a new BPEL?
    2. Use Advanced Queues (Oracle AQ). This is similar to using Oracle WF and to me the issues are also the same.
    3. Use routing rules in ESB -- I am not really sure if this can be done to replicate a pub/sub scenario, please advise and elaborate.
As a summary, we want the ability to have pub/sub within BPEL and/or ESB. Any other suggestions are also welcome.
    Thanks!

I have the same question , but could not find the releveant post in ESB forum.. is the response posted ? pls post the link to that thread...
