ISW Installation problem on Solaris SPARC
We are currently running JES4 directory server version 5.2 patch 5.
We wanted to test a JES5 installation so we could install Identity
Synchronization for Windows (ISW) and see if it would resolve the
problem we have keeping our Directory Server (JES4) and Active
Directory (AD) servers synchronized.
We did a clean install of JES5 with Directory Server 6.2. Prior to the
installation of ISW, we migrated the data from our production JES4
system and loaded that data into the newly installed and configured
JES5 system. That all went fine.
Then we then tried installing ISW, but the installation failed during the
portion of the install process where the administration server is
installed.
Has anyone seen this problem, or can you tell us any gotchas?The Solaris*.bin file should have unpacked everything and installed all the JDK in a directory off of the directory where you ran the .bin file. Inside this subdirectory will be a bin subdirectory where the java executables, etc are installed.

I managed to install 9.0.4 successfully on the same server without any problem.
ZairiDo you ahve the Shared_library variable? LD_LIBRARY_PATH, SHARED_LIBRARY_PATH ?? Usually one of this have to point to where the librarias are.

9.2.0.3 patch set installation fails on Solaris 8
i've installed Oracle9iR2 (64-bit) client on a Solaris 8 system and i'm now having problems installing the 9.2.0.3 patch set. during the installation process i get the following error message from OUI:
Error in invoking target install of makefile
$ORACLE_HOME/network/lib/ins_net_client.mk
i checked the installation log and then $ORACLE_HOME/install/make.log. make.log reports that the failing command is:
/usr/ccs/bin/make -f ins_net_client.mk install ORACLE_HOME=/opt/oracle9i/u01/app/oracle/product/9.2.0
this command fails when trying to link trcroute. the link command seems to have incorrect paths as it seems to expect to find crt?.o files from $ORACLE_HOME/lib/WS6U1 while they are located in $ORACLE_HOME/lib/WS6U2/lib/v9. i modified $ORACLE_HOME/network/lib/env_network.mk (CCVER, COMPOBJ) so that crt?.o can be found.
after this change the same link command fails with this message:
ld: fatal: file $ORACLE_HOME/network/lib/s0nur.o:
wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32
ld: fatal: File processing errors. No output written to trcroute
*** Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `trcroute'
i checked the object files in network/lib and they all seem to be ELF 32-bit.
does someone know what's causing these problems with the installation and how to fix it?
best regards,
aspathat's what i started to suspect as well. it's quite likely that the patch is for 32-bit installations. i'll try it with the 64-bit patch. thanks.

It looks to be more permission issue rather than space issue. Ensure the file system where you copied the DVD has full permission.
Check the installation logs for more details on which other file system needs full permission and work accordingly.

Java installation problem on solaris sparc v2.7
Hi
Iam new born baby to solaris .I have installed
java1.2.2 on solaris by using Solaris_JDK_1.2.2
_06.bin .I dont whether java1.2 is installed on
solaris machine or not .I think Solaris*.bin is the
executable file for unix .I simply gave the command
Is there any other way to check whether it is installed
properly or not .
Please help me [email protected]
thanks in advance
balaThe Solaris*.bin file should have unpacked everything and installed all the JDK in a directory off of the directory where you ran the .bin file. Inside this subdirectory will be a bin subdirectory where the java executables, etc are installed.

Oracle 10g R2 installation on sun solaris 10 Sparc machine
Hi there,
I encountered the following problem during oracle 10g R2 installation on sun solaris 10 Sparc machine
Error encountered:
Using paramFile: /u01/Oracle/10gr2_db_sol/install/oraparam.ini
Checking installer requirements...
Checking operating system version: must be 5.8, 5.9 or 5.10. Actual 5.10

Checking swap space: must be greater than 500 MB. Actual 2335 MB Passed
Checking monitor: must be configured to display at least 256 colors Failed <<<<
>>> Could not execute auto check for display colors using command /usr/openwin/bin/xdpyinfo. Check if the DISPLAY variable is set.
Some requirement checks failed. You must fulfill these requirements before
continuing with the installation,at which time they will be rechecked.
Continue? (y/n) [n]
The following were the steps taken before encountering the above error
1. logged into a workstation
2. From its xterm terminal I logged to the oracle server via ssh oracle@ip
3. keyed in the following at the command prompt
DISPLAY=machine_name:0.0; export DISPLAY
4. executed the following from the command prompt
./runInstaller
Note: when executing the ./runInstaller, the preinstallation checking just hangs at Checking monitor: must be configured to display at least 256 colors. But the log file shows it failed during preinstallation checking as shown in Error encountered
Please help me with this problem.
Thank you
Ravindran KanniahIt is because of UNIX shell. I also faced this error during installation.
First check your shell by the following command.
$ echo $SHELL
Then select the below.
For csh shell
$ setenv DISPLAY 192.168.1.128:0.0
$ export DISPLAY
For sh,ksh and bash
$ DISPLAY=192.168.1.128:0.0
$ export DISPLAY
After you do this check the value of DISPLAY variable.
$ echo $DISPLAY
If the DISPLAY variable is set then run ./runInstaller.
One advice: Keep a complete log of your terminal session. This will help you in future :)

If any patch is required for solaris sparc 10. ThanksObviously Sun (excuse me, Oracle) does not intend to support the solaris-10/sparc/firefox-3.6 combination. Firefox 3.6 requires the NPAPI and/or NPRuntime interfaces to java, but oracle does not provide the new "libnpjp2.so" java plugin with the jre-6u18-sparc-solaris java download.
A search at www.oracle.com does not turn up any support announcement about this. You have to learn it the hard way. :(
If you want to continue to use sparc-solaris, downgrade to firefox-3.5 so you can use the old libjavaplugin_oji.so module. Otherwise run Linux or Mac OS X to stay in the unix camp. -
OEM 12c for solaris (sparc) disk2 download failed
I am trying to download OEM 12c for solaris (sparc) from below link but disk 2 download failed after 80% with a error saying connection to server closed. I tried it couple of times with different browsers even from different machine but still same error. Disk 1 downloaded successfully but disk2 always failed right at 80% after 2.4 GB downloaded. It makes me belive that it is a problem related to source file or server. Anyone has similar experience and know how to get it solved?
Appriciate for your help.
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/oem/grid-control/downloads/solsoft-094433.htmlI can't download it either, and nor can any of my colleagues, using any browser. I am in UK, I suspect there's an issue with the Oracle mirrors, and that if you are downloading from US it probably works fine. Can someone from Oracle investigate this please?
We consistently get the same result: the downloaded file is: 2,732,571,489 bytes, rather than 3,430,333,041 bytes. It will not unzip as it is not a valid archive, error message:
bash-3.2# unzip em12_solaris_sparc64_disk2of2.zip
Archive: em12_solaris_sparc64_disk2of2.zip
End-of-central-directory signature not found. Either this file is not
a zipfile, or it constitutes one disk of a multi-part archive. In the
latter case the central directory and zipfile comment will be found on
the last disk(s) of this archive.
unzip: cannot find zipfile directory in one of em12_solaris_sparc64_disk2of2.zip or
em12_solaris_sparc64_disk2of2.zip.zip, and cannot find em12_solaris_sparc64_disk2of2.zip.ZIP, period.
However, this error message is caused by an invalid / incomplete zip file.
I have also tried Oracle Edelivery site with same result.
TIA!
