OEM 12c agent -  target name for oracle_home incorrect

We have a question re: the OEM agent.
Why would the target name for oracle_home be different than the hostname that the agent is running on?
In this case, the agent target name is sometimes the same as the hostname, as this:
-9 n/a oracle_home agent12c1_2_cbdn-000-002-001-018
hostname = cbdn-000-002-001-018
but we also see this:
-9 n/a oracle_home agent12c1_2_cbdn-000-00-2-002-018
but hostname is cbdn-000-002-002-018
-bash-3.2$ emcli get_targets -target=oracle_home

Please see the following doc for instructions on deinstalling an EM 12c agent. An EM 12c agent has its own Oracle home, so uninstalling it will not affect other Oracle products on the host.

    I'm trying to do a silent installation of the linux x86-64 agent software. I've done:
    %OMS_HOME%/bin/emcli login -username=sysman -password=<password>
    %OMS_HOME%/bin/emcli sync
    %OMS_HOME%/bin/emcli get_supported_platforms
    These were are successful. However I am having issues running:

    That is where I'm having the problem. I can't get the self update to work, because I keep getting timed out... I know it has something to do with my proxy server. This server doesn't have access to the internet, but has all of *oracle.com websites available to it.  So basically I was trying to find a way around using that self update...  Every time I test the https://updates.oracle.com link in the proxy settings in OEM.  It says the test succedded, but when I try to update my credentials for MOS, I keep getting timed out.

    Hi,
    I am assuming ur are trying to download 12.1.0.2 EM on linux and this can be done from OTN- http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/oem/enterprise-manager/downloads/index.html
    What error are you getting when you use unzip ? Also make sure that you use unzip6 version.
    I hope you are not trying to extract linux binaries on windows host ?
    After downloading binaries from OTN, pls verify the checksum/bytes of the zips as mentioned on the OTN

  • OEM 12c  Agent does not show down status.

    Hi, I'm testing EM 12c. I added host target to oem and then kill agent process on host.
    When open agent page (Setup-Agent-Testingagent) see error.
    Communication between the Oracle Management Service host to the Agent host is unavailable. Any functions or displayed information requiring this communication link will be unavailable. For example: deleting/configuring targets, uploading metric data, or displaying Agent home page information such as Agent to Management Service Response Time (ms).
    But status agent and host show up in EM.
    I try resync agent, But nothing has changed it.
    ./emctl status agent

    Agent is Not Running
    Other target (hosts,agent) show status correctly.
    Thanks for help.

    EM is showing Host is up makes sense. If I remember correct the OMS pings the host if the agent is down. This will succeed so the host will show up.
    Why the agent is showing up does not make sense to me. The agent sends a signal every (default) 120 seconds. If no signal is received by the OMS the OMS sends a reverse ping to the agent. If this does not succeed the agent and its monitored targets should get the state “Agent Unreachable”.

  • OEM 12c Agent Install in HP package

    resolved.

    There are no 12c plugin available till date to support your option 'b'. The only available plugins are 'HP Service Manager Connector' and 'HP Operations Manager Connector', and these two serves different purpose. The first one is for incedent management and the second one is for monitoring hp performances etc..

  • OEM 12c for Sun Solaris?

    Hello,
    I received this question from a customer:
    "It appears to me that [12c] agents are available for all the platforms we need (HP-UX Itanium, Sun Solaris, and AIX 5/6). However, the OMS/repository looks like it’s only released for Linux.
    So, questions:
    · Am I reading that correctly?
    · If I am, do you know when we could expect to have the OMS/repository released for Sun Solaris?
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/oem/grid-control/downloads/index.html"
    Can anyone tell me if 12c is FULLY available for Sun Solaris?
    Thanks!

    From what I can see on the Certifications page in Oracle Support, agents and OMS are only available for Linux for 12c. I don't know where your customer got the information regarding the other OS support.
    Go to support.oracle.com and click on the Certifications tab, then select "Enterprise Manager Base Platform - Agent" in the "Product" drop-down, 12.1.0.1.0 in the "Release" drop-down, leave the platform as "Any" and click "Search". The only 2 operating systems shown are Linux x86 and Linux x86-64.

  • Attached corresponding image in mouse without using event.target.name in actionscript 3

    Hi,

    How to get general id (or) name from xml loaded images. bcoz, i want to drag and drop that images in generic method. Now, i currently used the event.target.name for each one.

    for each loader created, create a movieclip and add your loader to the movieclip.  assign all the properties you want to retrieve later to the movieclip and assign your event listeners to the movieclip.

  • Help with event.target.name

    I am very green with actionscript and coding in general so please forgive me if I am asking something that sounds super simple.
    Is it possible to take "event.target.name" value which in my case would be something like "SW5005_mc" and change that value.
    I use that value right now to tell another clip to gotoAndStop(event.target.name); which I have frames labeled the same as the event.target.name.
    I would like to take the value of event.target.name for instance "SW5005_mc" and remove the "_mc" and put a dash in between the "SW" and the "5005"
    to get "SW-5005" which then I would pass into a text field.
    I really don't know where to begin or if this is possible.
    Thanks for any help or suggestions,
    Chris

    yes you can do it with String manipulation, check out the various String Class methods, some examples here:

    Now the IP address was changed, I can not add a new host using the new address, because em says the agent base directory is not empty...
    I just want to add a new host without removing the previous agent installation.
    Or even simpler, change the configuration of the existing host (that is name displayed in EM and host IP address).
    I am somewhat confused, it seems to be not possible, or I cannot see it after searching quite some time through the different menus and the documentation.
    Any hint, please?

    We have tested steps to re-point an existing agent to a new OMS without requiring re-push of the agent binaries. The same steps should work for what you are trying at achieve, although note you will have to remove the original targets, so target history will be lost. The only piece this avoids is re-push of the agent binaries. The steps are:
    1. Shut down the running 12c agent with the below command:
    $AGENT_INSTANCE_HOME/bin/emctl stop agent
    2. Remove the agent instance home:
    rm -rf $AGENT_INSTANCE_HOME
    3. Manually remove the targets monitored by the agent in the EM console.
    4. Create a new instance home pointing to the new oms:
    $AGENT_BASE_DIR/core/12.1.0.1.0/sysman/install/agentDeploy.sh
    AGENT_BASE_DIR=<location of the agent base dir> OMS_HOST=<oms hostname>
    EM_UPLOAD_PORT=<http/https upload port>
    @ AGENT_REGISTRATION_PASSWORD=<registration password>
    AGENT_INSTANCE_HOME=<absolute path where the instance home has to be created>
    -configOnly
    We will get these steps added to the official documentation. Let us know if you run into difficulties.
    Thanks, Mark.

  • Is it possible to monitor more than one target/Host with one agent in OEM 12c?

    Hi,
    Is it possible to monitor more than one target/Host with one agent in OEM 12c? Please assist me on this

    Since by definition a single EM agent must reside on a single database host, then, no, you can't monitor multiple hosts.
    Unless you mean that you want to monitor multiple virtual hosts from a single physical host ... but in that case, you'd still need one host per database host.
    That's just the way EM works. Always has, probably always will.

  • Get Collection Names for "emctl control agent runcollection"-command

    Hi,
    I have a really simple question, but until now I didn't find an answer by myself.
    At the moment I test a lot with provisioning software and databases with Cloud Control.
    When I install an agent on a new provisioning target machine it takes about 15 minutes (schedule of the metric collection) until cloud control knows everything about this host. (OS-version, etc.)
    The provisioning will fail before cloud control knows these information because of several checks.
    So I wanted to execute the collection of this information manually. Oracle Support told me to execute "emctl control agent runcollection <target_name>:<target_type> <collectionName>" on the target machine/agent.
    So far so good, but how to get the correct Collection name? (e.g. I want to discover the information about the host which you can see when you navigate to a host home under the section configuration on the left side. ... Operating System,  File System(GB) , Memory Size(MB) )
    Until now I was not able to find the correct collection names in MOS or in the Documenation.

    Hi,
    I think this is really difficult to find but I think the correct Collection for my problem is:
    "ll_host_config" (not tested yet if it solvs my problem but the command itself works)
    I found it here:
    1. connect to your OMS-Server (or one OMS server if you have an multi OMS environment)
    at first I tried to find default_collection directories (--> find $ORACLE_HOME -name default_collection)
    2. One directory is "$ORACLE_HOME/ccr/sysman/plugins/default/agent/default_collection"  (my OMS ORACLE_HOME is /u00/app/oracle/product/MW_EM12102/oms)
    3. I opened the file $ORACLE_HOME/ccr/sysman/plugins/default/agent/default_collection/host.xml and found the section

  • Targets down one OEM 12c console

    I have successfully installed OEM 12c on RHEL6, it is a  3-node using F5 Big IP SLB. OMS is up and running on all three nodes, however the OEM console shows three targets to be down on the first node as seen below.
    1. node1:4889_Management_service
    2. node1:4889_Management_service_CONSOLE
    3. node1:4889_Management_service_PBS
    The same three targets are reported up on node2 and node3.
    I ran ./emctl status oms -details on all three nodes and the results are the same.
    It looks like a false alarm to me. Any ideas?

    Hi Bill Wagman,
    You can remove the agents and its monitored targets as below:
    a. On the agent machine, stop the agent if running.
    b. On the OMS machine, run the following:
    1. Ensure emcli is configured:
    <12c_OMS_HOME>/bin>./emcli setup
    2. Login to emcli:
    <12c_OMS_HOME>/bin>./emcli login -username=SYSMAN
    3. Remove the problematic agents from console:
    <12c_OMS_HOME>/bin>./emcli delete_target -name="<agent machine name:port>" -type="oracle_emd" -delete_monitored_targets -async
    To delete a specific target, you can use the following command:
    <12c_OMS_HOME>/bin>./emcli delete_target -name="<target_name>" -type="<target_type>"
    Once the agent is removed from console, you can use the following note to deinstall agent software from agent machine:
    Note 1368088.1 - How to De-install the Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12c Agent
    Note: The steps in the note 454081.1 is not applicable for 12c agents. It is not recommended to update repository objects manually.

  • OEM 12c : Deployed MS SQL Server Plug-in. Getting Error When Adding Target Manually

    Hi All,
    Request your help regards to Working with Plug-ins.
    I am using a Oracle linux 5.9 VM with OEM 12c v12.1.0.3.0 Installed.
    I need to work with Non-Oracle Database - specifically MS SQL Server for which I already downloaded and deployed the MS SQL Server Plug-in.
    However when trying to add targets manually, I am getting an error saying "Target Type Microsoft SQL Server is not support on selected monitoring agents em12c.localdomain:3872:Plug-in Microsoft SQL Server Database (12.1.0.3.0) or higher is certified on Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12.1.0.3.0.
    Can you please guide as to where am i going wrong?
    Your help and guidance is highly appreciated.
    Regards.
    Nayan

    Hi Nayan,
    This seems to be a issue that a different version of MS SQL plugin was deployed on the Agent side.
    As per your description you have already downloaded and deployed the MS SQL Server Plug-in. I am assuming that the version of plugin is 12.1.0.3.
    If not you will need to deploy 12.1.0.3 MS SQL plugin on OMS first and then on the Agent which is monitoring the MS SQL targets.
    + Command to get the plugins deployed On OMS server currently,
    $ cd <OMS_HOME>/bin/
    $ ./emcli login -username=sysman
    Enter password
    Login successful
    $ ./emcli sync
    Synchronized successfully
    $./emcli list_plugins_on_server
    + Command to get the plugins deployed On Agent currently,
    $ cd <AGENT_HOME>/agent_inst/bin/
    $ ./emctl listplugins agent
    Ref: EM 12c: How to Verify the Plugins Deployed on the Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12.1.0.1 OMS and Agent (Doc ID 1431103.1)
    You can review the below link for MS SQL plugin deploy on OMS and Agent,
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24628_01/install.121/e35211/toc.htm
    Once the 12.1.0.3.0 MS SQL plugin is deployed on OMS and on Agent try to dicover the targets again from console. I hope it will help.
