Office 14 oem -Install

My new Lenovo G560 laptop (2 weeks old)  has a folder  (1.3GB)  with  office 14 oem ready to be installed but I need a serial key and cannot find one either on the laptop or in the 'box'.  Is this a normal occurrence? Could it be trial software?, it doesn't appear to be.
I should ask Lenovo but here in the UK the support is 'shocking', and the telephone number on offer is not toll-free or even a normal rate number.
Any help would be appreciated

Thank you, I think you are correct and this has been included in the OEM version of Windows 7 by Microsoft as a 'tempter'.
quite 'pushy really and it is occupying nearly 1.5GB of my hard drive.  In due course I shall delete.

  • Acrobat XI Pro "Out of Memory" error after Office 2010 install

    Good Afternoon,
We recently pushed Office 2010 to our users and are now getting reports of previous installs of Adobe Acrobat XI Pro no longer working but throwing "Out of Memory" errors.
We are in a Windows XP environment. All machines are HP 8440p/6930p/6910 with the same Service pack level (3) and all up to date on security patches.
All machines are running Office 2010 SP1.
All machines have 2GB or 4GB of RAM (Only 3.25GB recognized as we are a 32bit OS environment).
All machines have adequate free space (ranging from 50gb to 200gb of free space).
All machines are set to 4096mb initial page file size with 8192mb maximum page file size.
All machines with Acrobat XI Pro *DO NOT* have Reader XI installed alongside. If Reader is installed, it is Reader 10.1 or higher.
The following troubleshooting steps have been taken:
    Verify page file size (4096mb - 8192mb).
Deleted local user and Windows temp files (%temp% and c:\WINDOWS\Temp both emptied).
Repair on Adobe Acrobat XI Pro install. No change.
Uninstall Acrobat Pro XI, reboot, re-install. No change.
Uninstall Acrobat Pro XI Pro along with *ALL* other Adobe applications presently installed (Flash Player, Air), delete all Adobe folders and files found in a full search of the C drive, delete all orphaned Registry entries for all Adobe products, re-empty all temp folders, reboot.
Re-install Adobe Acrobat XI Pro. No change.
Disable enhanced security in Acrobat XI Pro. No change.
    Renamed Acrobat XI's plug_ins folder to plug_ins.old.
You *can* get Acrobat to open once this is done but when you attempt to edit a file or enter data into a form, you get the message, "The "Updater" plug-in has been removed. Please re-install Acrobat to continue viewing the current file."
A repair on the Office 2010 install and re-installing Office 2010 also had no effect.
At this point, short of re-imaging the machines (which is *not* an option), we are stumped.
We have not yet tried rolling back a user to Office 2007 as the upgrade initiative is enterprise-wide and rolling back would not be considered a solution.
Anyone have any ideas beyond what has been tried so far?

As mentioned, the TEMP folder is typically the problem. MS limits the size of this folder and you have 2 choices: 1. empty it or 2. increase the size limit. I am not positive this is the issue, but it does crop up at times. It does not matter how big your harddrive is, it is a matter of the amount of space that MS has allocated for virtual memory. I am surprised that there is an issue with 64GB of RAM, but MS is real good at letting you know you can't have it all for use because you might want to open up something else. That is why a lot of big packages turn off some of the limits of Windows or use Linux.

    Hi Tatiana,
This is the know issue. I have experienced this issue with one of our client. The cause of issue as below -
    Scenario
You have 2007 Microsoft Office installed on a computer.
On the same computer, you also have a Microsoft Office 2013 application installed, such as Microsoft Lync 2013 or Microsoft Word 2013.
    SOLUTION
To work around this issue, remove the Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Support program component from the Office 2013
installation on the affected computer or computers. To do this, follow the “Install or remove individual Office program components” section of the following Microsoft Office website:
    Install or remove individual Office
    programs and components
    (http://office.microsoft.com/redir/HA010354261.aspx)
After you complete these steps, repair 2007 Office. For more information about how to repair the installation, click

    Note When
you follow these steps, set the Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Support
component within Office Tools to Not Available.
This solution doesn't apply to scenarios in which SharePoint Designer 2013 is installed on the affected computer.

  • Can you merge two user accounts on macbook? my wife has created a user on her new macbook , then inadvertently created a second one when using the migration tool. 1st ac has her office 365 install, yet 2nd has her itunes database, docs and contacts.

Can you merge two user accounts on a macbook? my wife has created a new user on her new macbook air then, inadvertently, created a second one when using the migration tool. 1st a/c has her office 365 install, while 2nd has her itunes database, docs and contacts. What is the best way forward to get everything into the one account? Not sure if the office 365 will allow another installation into the second account, otherwise would just do that and delete the first, if that is possible?

There is no merge but you can move data from one account to another via the Shared folder. Data is copied from Shared. Watch your free space when copying. These are large files.  Do one at a time if you are on a small drive. After making copy, delete from other users before you start next copy.
Office365 installs in the main Applications folder and is available for all users on the computer. Activation is tied to the drive not the User.

  • Windows 8.1 system with new Office 2013 install not pulling down any Office 2013 updates from my SCCM 2012 SP1 server

    Hi,
I've just setup a new Windows 8.1 system and added to my SCCM 2012 SP1 server and all is good and it pulled down all the correct Windows updates and pulls down automatically the FEP updates that are distributed from SCCM 2012 daily.
I just installed Office 2013 on this system and have activated it as necessary.  The problem is that the system doesn't seem to be pulling down any of the Office 2013 updates that have distributed thru SCCM.  I have other systems with
Office 2013 installed and they have pulled down Office 2013 updates in the past when I published them.
If I look at the Office 2013 updates in the SCCM console software section, I can see that for example it shows that Office 2013 SP1 (x86) is needed by one system and installed on 8 other systems and shows as downloaded and deployed.
I've restarted the new system multiple times and also tried to force a software update check from the Configuration Manager applet but nothing seems to happen.
What can I check to try and determine what the problem is?
    Thanks in advance,
    Nick

Yes, the 8.1 system is a member of collection where the update deployment is targeted.
Are there any specific logs I should check in the client?  If I check the WindowsUpdate.log I can see messages about the machine pulling down the FEP updates but that's all it appears to be doing.
in CCM\logs, focus on the updatehandler and updatedeployment, to begin with

  • Office 2004 Install and Photoshop Elements

Please forgive my total NOOB inquiry especially since I am an experienced Linux user. I have attempted to install Office 2004 onto a 1 month old MacBook. The disc mounts, I open it, and double click the Office setup assistant. The result every time is that Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0 opens, and eventually fails with a can not open the file error. Why is Photoshop elements trying to open it? I also tried copying the entire Office folder to the applications folder (just to see what happens). When then trying to launch the individual Office apps, Photoshop Elements again launches. Please advise. I have googled this to death and found no one with a similar problem. Thx
MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   2 Ghz Duo
MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   2 Ghz Duo

I have basically the same assumption on file
    associations with PhotoShop Elements. I'm
    investigating two paths right now:
    1. How to keep PhotoShop Elements from trying to
open this file type, even though it has no file
extension. I have yet to find where these file
associations are made. Time to read the manual. Is
it done through the App, or OS?
I think it would have to be the OS, but I don't know how you would make use of that info. The only way I know of is to examine thru the Get Info window. If you do a Get Info on the setup assistant, does it have the Open With section? If it knows it's an app, it doesn't even show that section. If it does have that section, it should let you change it from Elements to something else. You may also be able to uncheck the Hide Extension checkbox and see what extension it has.
    2. I'm going to borrow someone else's Office 2004
install disc to see if the installer auto-launches
after mounting and double clicking on the disc. I've
found it odd that my current install disc doesn't
launch. Maybe, just maybe, I have a damaged disc.
    Worth a shot.
Yes. I have Office v.X installed, not 2004. And I just copied it from my old Mac; it's been forever since I used an Office installer disc.

  • Checking out Pdf files to Local draft Folder option no longer works after office 2013 installed.

Checking out Pdf files to Local draft Folder option no longer works after office 2013 installed.
    Summary :
We are using SharePoint 2010 Ent edition and users were able to checkout Pdf files similar to local drafts folder like any other office file without any problem when they used office 2010.
    i.e
Unfortunately ever since their machines upgraded with office 2013 recently , this functionality completely stopped working for PDF files. This has now become a big problem for the users when it comes to check out and replace PDF files.
All browser plugins required for this functionality (i.e    SharePoint OpenDocuments Class ) are all available and active. All document libraries are configured to Checkout is required for editing files. Browser version
used at the moment is IE9 (32 bit) version with windows 7.
Can anyone please help with this issue and any help to get away with this problem is much appreciated.

    Hi,
Based on your description, my understanding is that the PDF files cannot be checked out to local drafts folder after Office 2013 is installed.
Did this issue occur with Office files?
I recommend to check if the Office files can be checked out to local drafts folder with Office 2013.
And it is recommended to use Office 2010 with SharePoint 2010 for best practice.
    Thanks,
    Victoria

  • Project Professional 2013 Installations Fails with Office 2010 installed on Windows 7 x86

When attempting to install Project Professional 2013 Pro (x86) on Windows Professional x86 PC that has Office 2010 ProSp2 installed client getting an error message at the end of the installation "Project 2013 has encountered an error during setup".
I have gotten the installer to work on x64 PC with Office 2010 installed. (Something worth noting that even thought I set the reboot to prompt its automatically reboots without warning but, appears to be working.)  I also tried using the OTC, custom XML
file and just running setup.exe and get the error no matter what. When looking in the logs I there are MSI installer error with an error: Product:
Microsoft Project Professional 2013 - Update '{A6FFA77F-C1C1-43D3-A2C7-6A5B68138D9F}' could not be installed. Error code 1603. Windows Installer can create logs to help troubleshoot issues with installing software packages. Use the following link for
instructions on turning on logging support: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=23127
Without having to uninstall Office 2010 what do I need to modify in the installer to get it to Project 2013 Pro to install on the x86 machine?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Your environment will support 32 bit of Project professional 2013 (x86) as you have Windows and Office of (X86).
You try to modify registry then you wont face issue.
The issue when you hit a "1653" is that Windows
Installer "DisableRollback" is set. Office 2013 requires that "rollback" be enabled. If you are getting a "1653"
error in your logs as Ken did then the solution is to delete the "DisableRollback" (or set to '0') at the following registry keys:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer
these are the issues I've seen:
Scheduler service was stopped. At a cmd window typing "net start schedule" resolves the problem.
CMD.exe was customized via the following registry key. Solution was to temporarily disable the customization by changing autorun value to autorun_old.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Command Processor
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Command Processor
Permission issues - seems some custom permissions affected Ingram's install which he explained in his previous post.
Environment variable "ComSpec" had been modified (semicolon added). Fix was to remove the added semicolon (there should be no semicolon).
The way to identify you are hitting this specific issue is if in the %temp%\OfficeSetup.log there is a mention of "Office64MUI.msi" failing to install with return value of 1603
If you want to enable verbose logging via the following key, rerun your failed install, and collect all the setup and MSI* logs that will give more information.
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer]
    "logging"= "voicewarmup"

  • How to open .snp files with Microsoft Office 2007 installed? It works with MS Office 2003 but not with MS Office 2007!

I have MS Office Pro Plus 2007 installed on my computer. I also have MS Office 2003 installed on another computer. Snapshot viewer is installed on both. My work snapshot files works with MS Office Access 2003 but not recognized by MS Office Access 2007. It would not allow me to save them either! Is it a problem with FireFox (3.6.8)? However, I do not have problem opening them up using IE7/8 on both computers. Any ideas? Thanks.

Are you clicking a download link from an email message on an OWA or webmail site? Do you get the open/save dialog for the .snp files? In that case, you should be able to associate them with the Snapshot viewer. If Firefox does not remember this and you have to do it each time, it usually indicates that the server is not sending a specific content type, just the generic "this is some binary content" content type.

  • Applet failed to open xls file with Firefox and Office 2010 installed (o.s: Windows 7). It works with Office 2007.

I load a signed applet in a web application.
The applet open a xls file when I press the finalize button.
It works correctly in Firefox, IE, Chrome and Safari. I have installed Office 2007.
But when I test it in a new pc with Office 2010 installed, it does not work in Firefox browser (it works in IE, Chrome and Safari)
This is the console java error:

I search in Bugzilla but not found anything about this.
I test it with Firefox Beta - Aurora and the behaviour is the same.

    Any suggestion?

  • Office 365 installed, can't choose Word 2007 as the default program for docx and doc files

I have a client who just installed Office 365 on his Windows 7 PC. He still has Office 2007 installed. He's struggling with the changes in Word 2013 and wants me to uninstall Office 365. I thought I'd just set the default program association for .docx and
.doc programs to Word 2007 but that doesn't seem possible. I can choose Default Programs, Associate a file type etc., and find the .docx extension. The current default is Word (desktop). I highlight the .docx extension and choose Change Program. The older
version of Word isn't listed so I click Browse and find Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\winword.exe. Click OK, OK, OK, etc, but .docx files still open in Word 2013. The Default Program applet evidently sees all versions of Word as the same and refuses
to change the association. How do I accomplish this ridiculously simple task?

Fixed. Used a great little app from NirSoft called
FileTypesMan. The built-in Windows utilities are getting worse by leaps and bounds.

  • Can the  microsoft office be installed on the iPad2?

can the microsoft office be installed on the iPad2?

    Fria.
So you want to view edit and even compose MS Office style documents on your iPad well there ARE ways, several in fact and you should not be put OFF by jbjoret's simple NO.
True facts are that todate Microsoft have not produced a version of MS Office suitable for ios or for that matter the other leading mobile ios (Android) either, but that's not the end of the story.
Within Apples ios you can buy and install versions of Pages and Numbers (The Apple productivity suite) and these will allow you to open edit save print email (in a choice of .doc .pdf or .pages formats).
Third party apps such as Documents to Go work near flawlessly with MS Office documents for creation, editing ....
What you probably need to consider is how you get documents on and off your iPad and here you could consider Dropbox.
For viewing PDFs Word and many other files try Goodreader.
And finally you will need helpers for effective printing (Since Airprint capability is limited to a handful of HP eprinters)
Here you could try PrintBureau combined with helper App WePrint Server (Both PC and MAC compatible) this allows you to print to almost any networked printer via WiFi using the host PC.
If you have a Mac also install Printopia to allow printing again to many networked printers. (Similar PC solutions exist as well
This is a lot of information however rest assured you really can do business with an iPad with near full MS OFFICE interoperability
I say near because you always risk hitting a few formatting and/or complex macro problems with more complex MS OFFICE documents (these happen even between differing versions of MS OFFICE as well)

See reply by Niel here in this thread
    get correct system version number
Regarding installation / removal of Office try these steps:
Find your Office 2011 install disc with the product key # and
Then remove Office according to MS instructions
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2398768
    Then Reinstall from DVD
