Project Professional 2013 Installations Fails with Office 2010 installed on Windows 7 x86

When attempting to install Project Professional 2013 Pro (x86) on Windows Professional x86 PC that has Office 2010 ProSp2 installed client getting an error message at the end of the installation "Project 2013 has encountered an error during setup".
I have gotten the installer to work on x64 PC with Office 2010 installed. (Something worth noting that even thought I set the reboot to prompt its automatically reboots without warning but, appears to be working.)  I also tried using the OTC, custom XML
file and just running setup.exe and get the error no matter what. When looking in the logs I there are MSI installer error with an error: Product:
Microsoft Project Professional 2013 - Update '{A6FFA77F-C1C1-43D3-A2C7-6A5B68138D9F}' could not be installed. Error code 1603. Windows Installer can create logs to help troubleshoot issues with installing software packages. Use the following link for
instructions on turning on logging support: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=23127
Without having to uninstall Office 2010 what do I need to modify in the installer to get it to Project 2013 Pro to install on the x86 machine?
Thanks

Hi,
Your environment will support 32 bit of Project professional 2013 (x86) as you have Windows and Office of (X86).
You try to modify registry then you wont face issue.
The issue when you hit a "1653" is that Windows
Installer "DisableRollback" is set. Office 2013 requires that "rollback" be enabled. If you are getting a "1653"
error in your logs as Ken did then the solution is to delete the "DisableRollback" (or set to '0') at the following registry keys:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer
these are the issues I've seen:
Scheduler service was stopped. At a cmd window typing "net start schedule" resolves the problem.
CMD.exe was customized via the following registry key. Solution was to temporarily disable the customization by changing autorun value to autorun_old.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Command Processor
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Command Processor
Permission issues - seems some custom permissions affected Ingram's install which he explained in his previous post.
Environment variable "ComSpec" had been modified (semicolon added). Fix was to remove the added semicolon (there should be no semicolon).
The way to identify you are hitting this specific issue is if in the %temp%\OfficeSetup.log there is a mention of "Office64MUI.msi" failing to install with return value of 1603
If you want to enable verbose logging via the following key, rerun your failed install, and collect all the setup and MSI* logs that will give more information.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer]
"logging"= "voicewarmup"

    hello forum members,
we having issues opening a word document in a Project Server 2013 . we have Office 2010 on our computers installed.
when I click on a document link, i get a message "The webpage cannot be displayed".  the only way to open a document is to right click on link and select "Open".
Does Project Server 2013 require Office 2013 installed? If not, is there a way to open documents in Project Server 2013 without right clicking on links?

    Hi Tatiana,
This is the know issue. I have experienced this issue with one of our client. The cause of issue as below -
    Scenario
You have 2007 Microsoft Office installed on a computer.
On the same computer, you also have a Microsoft Office 2013 application installed, such as Microsoft Lync 2013 or Microsoft Word 2013.
    SOLUTION
To work around this issue, remove the Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Support program component from the Office 2013
installation on the affected computer or computers. To do this, follow the “Install or remove individual Office program components” section of the following Microsoft Office website:
    Install or remove individual Office
    programs and components
    (http://office.microsoft.com/redir/HA010354261.aspx)
After you complete these steps, repair 2007 Office. For more information about how to repair the installation, click
the following article number to go to the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
    924611
    (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/924611/ )
How to install the individual 2007 Office features or to repair the installed 2007 Office programs
    Note When
you follow these steps, set the Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Support
component within Office Tools to Not Available.
This solution doesn't apply to scenarios in which SharePoint Designer 2013 is installed on the affected computer.
You can find further details here at Microsoft support site -

    Hope this helps you.

  • Office 2013 Installer - Fails with No Errors

    Hello,
I ran into issues on two different Windows 8 (64-bit) machines today, both with Office 2013 Pro Plus (32-bit) installed. I could not get the installer to come up to add a module (or make any other changes).
On one of the PCs, I tried running the Fixit to remove Office, since the option of the "Online Repair" was not accessible, (installer would not start). Fixit removed Office, but after a reboot, it still would not run the office installer, even
    with Office 2013 completely gone.
    Things I tried:
    - Disabled anti-virus (windows defender)
    - Run with elevated privileges (I'm a domain admin and UAC is off, but just to be safe)
    - Removed skydrive
    - Cleaned out temp directory
    - Scanned for registry errors (none)
    - Re-downloaded the installer DVD
    - Made sure no pending windows update
    - Reboots (lots of times, definitely after the uninstall)
    - Checked the install log in %temp%, this is what I get:
    2013/08/12 13:51:14:263::[2848] PERF: TickCount=1295931 Name=OBootStrapper::Run Description=Begin function

This is almost identical to what I see on the other PC, except with different drive letters.
THERE ARE NO ERROR MESSAGES - no popup, no installer dialog - nothing, which makes it really hard to troubleshoot. And it's happening on both Windows 8 machines that have had Office 2013 installed. I am so frustrated right now after wasting half of today
    troubleshooting this.
    Any thoughts?

    Hi
    Let’s follow these steps:
Make sure you have end the tasks of setup.exe and integratedoffice.exe.
       1. Press the Ctrl + Alt+ Delete key -> Click on Task Manager to open.
       2. Under Processes tab -> Select setup.exe -> Click on End Process.
        3. Under Processes tab -> Select integratedoffice.exe -> Click on End Process.
Restart the computer in Clean Boot and install Office 2013. Follow the steps:
           http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
Note: After you have finished troubleshooting in clean boot, ensure you restart the computer in normal mode.

  • Project Pro 2013 client Deployment with Lync 2010 and Team Explorer Excel Issues Following

    Current machines are Office 2010 SP1 or SP2 32-bit
Just deployed Project 2013 Pro and Std to the existing machines that had Project 2010 Pro or Std.  We selected the full install since people use integration into different tools.
    Results:
lync 2010 64-bit when attending a meeting prompted user to start using and download the Lync Web Component, which breaks features such as muting, etc.
A repair sent to the workstations for Lync 2010 64-bit fixed that.
Team Explorer 2012 Export to excel from queries gives error Unable to cast COM object of type 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.ApplicationClass' to interface type 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel._Application'. This operation failed because
the QueryInterface call on the COM component for the interface with IID '{000208D5-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}' failed due to the following error: The interface is unknown. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800706B5).
Repair of Team Explorer, Office, Test Manager 2012, etc did not assist.  if we go into excel and connect to TFS, we can then retrieve the query data.  Just not from TFS exporting to excel.  Had to unload Project 2013, repair Office 2010
and rebooted with project off the machine and now it works.   It seems maybe the setup with the shared features and Office tools are breaking something?  We need the ability for VBA and .net functionality, but what could be breaking this?

  • Is Lync 2013 perfectly compatible with Office 2010?

Microsoft Office 2010 and Lync 2013 are two diferrent instances, but they use some common elements.
In our company we have over a hundred MS Office 2010 licences and we dont need/afford to change them all to 2013. Now we want to install Lync 2013 and I wonder if there could be compatibility issues or, if Lync 2013 can modifiy the common files they use,
so that certain functions in Office 2010 will not be available or not work properly.
Is there a risk of this happening or they can work together "in complete harmony"? This is very important to me and I cannot afford to make a mistake. I would appreciate any help. Thank you.

    Hi Cristi,
Checkout these Lyncs on compatibility and interoperability:
    Lync 2013 Compatibility http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg412817.aspx
    Client Interoperability http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj204672.aspx
As far as having Lync 2013 & Office 2010 on the same PC, largely it SHOULD be ok and I've not had many issues. The exception to this was on a recent Citrix deployment, where for some reason running Lync 2013 was causing the Office 2010 instance to rerun
everytime it was started. All desktops were ok though.
My suggestion is to make sure you thoroughly test with every scenario that you can think of before rolling out to the masses.

  • Project Server 2013: QueueUpdateProject2 fails with LookupTableItemInvalidLookupTable error

    Hi,
We have a strange problem here using the newly introduced QueueUpdateProject2 PSI method in WebSvcProject. The server is running version 15.0.4481.1005 (Project Server 2013, March 2013 PU). Here's the minimum repro code:
    projectService.CheckOutProject(projectUid, sessionUid, sessionDescription);
    var projectDataSet = projectService.ReadProject(projectUid, DataStoreEnum.WorkingStore);
    projectDataSet.Project[0].SetModified(); // Simplest repro
    var jobUid = Guid.NewGuid();
    projectService.QueueUpdateProject2(jobUid, sessionUid, projectDataSet, false);
Unfortunately the QueueUpdateProject2 queue job always fails with error LookupTableItemInvalidLookupTable for this project. Here's the full error information as shown in PWA:

  • Project Professional 2013 Installation Issue

Hi I have purchased MSP 2013 as part of HUP program for my personal use. I had Office 2013 with 2016 TP version installed in my PC. But when I try to install MSP from the link provided in the order mail, it said you have latest version of MS Office, hence
you cannot install an older version. So I downloaded full MSP package from Microsoft site and tried install then I got an error while installing that something went wrong, but dint mentioned what was the THING!!! Now I have uninstalled 2016 preview using the
uninstall file from preview installation package and to be surprised my entire Office 2013 vanished from PC. Even after that I tried to install MSP and got the 'something' error message. Now I have installed MS office 2013 once again. Please help me with MSP
    installtion.
    Using Windows 10 TP 10061

    Hi Jerin,
From your steps we can suppose that your publish job might not have been processed successfully. Please go to the queue and check for any error message (or on the contrary success message) for your publish job.
Just as a confirmation (since your point 2 "change lock mode to yes" is quite confusing), the "lock" value must be set to YES for EVERY task you want to lock, after inserting in a project details view the "lock" column.
    Hope this helps.

  • Advanced Calculation Options and Assignments Calculating Erratically - Project Professional 2013

I have run into something strange in Project Professional 2013 when dealing with the Advanced Calculation Options and Assignment % Work Complete, and I believe that it is a bug.
I will demonstrate in a simple example.
    Open a Brand New Project.
Create a single Auto Scheduled Task with Two Resources. (I used Tom and Jerry.) Give it a couple weeks of duration (I gave mine 10 days)
Go to the Options, Advanced Page, and Select the Move end of completed parts after status date back to status date option.
Set a status date a few days after the task start date.
Now, Go to the Task Usage View.  Add a % Work Complete Column, and an Actual Work Row.
Save that so that you can load it from scratch.
    Now for the inconsistent Part:
First, Try entering 25% for the Task's % Work Complete.
Everything is correct, right? But let's say that Jerry actually had completed 30% of his task. Change Jerry's to 30%.
This is correct also. But I was talking about assignment management, not task management.
So, lets try it that way. Click on Undo a few times or just reload the file you saved to get back to the first state. If you undo, make sure that you don't undo your status date or Advanced Calculation Setting.
This time, instead of entering a Task % Work complete, enter Assignment % Work Completes of 25% for Tom and 30% for Jerry.
Notice that the moment you enter the 25% for Tom, it has moved Jerry's start date. Also, when you enter 30% for Jerry, it ignores max units from the resource sheet and calendar for Jerry.
It should be using the calendar and backing the units for Jerry toward the start of the task. But it doesn't. What it does is move the start date for Jerry's Assignment to the day before the status date, and then, because it has zeroed the Work for the earlier
days, ignores them (and the calendar and max units) when it starts to assign the work before the status date, and assigns the actual work based on the weighted work scheduled for those days, resulting in the above.
The main problem with this is: It shouldn't be moving the starting date for the other assignment at all.  If it didn't, the outputs would be the same. I believe that what is actually happening is when a % Work Complete is changed for an assignment,
the entire task is being re-evaluated, and all assignments are being evaluated also. Note that this happens even if you have the setting Calculate project after each edit set to Off. What should be happening is that only the assignment changed should be evaluated,
and the task updated with that information.
Has anyone else had trouble with this, or no? Does anyone have an explanation for this behavior, or is the explanation that the dev team didn't implement assignment calculation correctly for these advanced calculation types? Is this a valid bug, or am I
missing something? If so, how does it get reported? We do have the work around, entering the task value first, but that seems a bit clunky. They should both be exactly the same, without moving the start date, or ignoring max units  and calendars for the
    resources.
    Any insight?

    I understand Project as follows:
The move task advanced option is in fact for users that are only going to add a % complete to a task. This at least makes sure there is no incomplete work in the past and no completed work in the future. As you know % complete on its own is a low maturity,
    poor option for updating.
If updating assignments (good on you) then don't use the move option and enter actual start, actual work and remaining work or enter actual hours in the timephased part of a usage view.

  • Lync 2013 OCT deployment on machines with Office 2010. Installation Failure

    Hi,
In our environment, we have Win7, Office 2010 x86. (no plans to upgrade all of Office to 2013 as yet)
I'm trying to deploy Lync 2013 x86, and have packaged an MSP using "setup /admin" for later deployment via SCCM.
Now I know there are no problems running Lync 2013 with Office 2010 as it works fine if you manually install.
Strange thing is, when I try running the setup with MSP for silent install, it runs silent and all looks well although all the Office Tools shortcuts are created and there are files under the Program Files folders for Office\15.0 as expected
but not Lync itself. ie: no lync.exe file or shortcuts.
Reviewing the setup log doesn't show any obvious errors that I can tell.
Also after this, if I go through the "Add/Remove Components" under Uninstall Programs\Lync 2013, and I can see in there that it DOES already show Lync as being installed, if I just click continue, it runs through the setup process and
    then Lync will be installed
I've also tried this same process using the Full "Office Pro Plus 2013" and only select Lync to install and the same thing happens.
Has anyone else come across this issue or could point me in the right direction.
For the OCT (setup.exe /admin) the only settings I've changed from defaults are:
    - Filled in the Organisation name
    - Set KMS licensing, display level to none and suppress modal
    - some regkeys for some default settings for GalDownloadInitialDelay, ShownFirstRunOptin
    - Force on Lync (Run from My Computer)
I'm running "setup.exe /adminfile Lync_x86.MSP" in my case to test this MSP.

I had the same issue. As soon as I updated to the latest Admin admx/opal files, it worked great.
    Cheers,
    JeffCSP
This issue was introduced when SP1 was released, and is detailed here:

  • Problem opening documents from SharePoint (2013) libraries with Office 2010 and 2013 components installed

    Hi
I've been encountering the problem of Office files failing to open from SharePoint 2013 libraries with the prefix of 'ms-excel:ofv|u|' etc. in the url. Following the
helpful questions and answers in the forum, I've identified the likely cause as the fact that my main Office installation is 2010, but I also have installed OneDrive for Business 2013 (which I need in order to sync document libraries with my local drive).
The solution I've seen suggested elsewhere of deactivating the SharePoint integration of Office 2013 components fails for two reasons: there is no way (or at least, I can't find one) of deactivating SharePoint integration probably because, deactivating
SharePoint integration would likely stop the syncing of libraries/folders.
One thing that I have noticed in my case that I've not seen mentioned elsewhere is that if I right-click a document and select 'open in new tab/window' the required
document opens directly in the relevant office package. I don't know if this is a useful observation, but it seems to be new information.
My question is, is there a way I can continue to sync libraries and open Office documents directly in Office 2010? My thoughts are possible changes to registry settings
(which I can do, but don't know enough to find the correct ones myself) or (re)installation of software in some appropriate order to leave the correct settings.
I have 'repaired' my Office 2010 installation without any observed affect on behavior.
    Thanks
    Ray
(I've just seen a suggestion that Office 2010 SP2 may fix this issue. I've requested to test this, but whilst this may fix my problem, rolling it out to
other users may be more problematic. In the meantime, other suggestions of solutions are welcome)

    Hi,
According to your description, it is a good way to do a test about office 2010 SP2, here is an article about this issue- limitations of using the OneDrive for Business sync app with Office 2010 applications , it may help you.

  • Does Visio 2013 work with Office 2010?

Does Visio 2013 work with Office 2010?

    Tuesday 01/06/2015
Take a look at this Microsoft KB
    KB2784668
It has one reference to Visio and the support / install order of Office.
Now with that said, regardless of 2010 vs. 2013, you can NOT mix 32-bit or 64-bit versions of Office.
For example, lets say I installed Office 2010 SP2 64-bit
(FYI... How to determine Office 2010 SP file version
    KB2121559)
I then want to install Visio 2013 32-bit, the install will not work.
You cant mix 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Office Products.
    TechNet article explains more...TechNet
(FYI...A few more people are asking the same question...)
    Forum 1
    Forum 2
(How to determine which version 32-bit or 64-bit version of Office is installed
    Stackoverflow.com)
Above article is dependent on Full Office being installed...  You can also query the DisplayName REG_SZ key as well, it will report back the Office version.
    Registry Location:
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
Look for the Office GUID in my example for 2010 64-bit SP2....
Now with the above said, below are notes from one of our desktop support techs in regards to issues we have seen internally running Office 2010 32-bit SP1 and SP2 on Win 7 x64 Enterprise with Visio 2013.....
Office interops. The ability for office and other applications to communicate with other office apps.
The first instance today: User sends corporate communications from word using the send to mail recipient feature. After visio 2013 installed, he received a message stating that word could not communicate with outlook, to either repair office or check the
server. Office was repaired, new outlook profile created. After research, discovered the office is sensitive to various versions in regards to interops. Discovered that Visio 2013 was installed around the time user experienced issues. After uninstalling visio,
when launching word it began to configure (like for a first time install), the send mail to recipient feature began working. This probably will affect anyone with visio 2013. Visio 2010 was not reinstalled afterwards, as user barely uses it and was hesitant.
Installation files are still on his machine in the event that he does need it reinstalled. Office version is 14.0.7109.5000 User is on Office 2010 SP2
The second instance today: Teammate stopped working 3 weeks ago according to user. After working through several support groups here and working with the vendor support, the vendor noted that some dll’s from the application were not registered. If that didn’t
fix it they suggested a reimage. After registering the dll’s, issue persisted. After further troubleshooting, determine that the feature that did not work for user consisted of teammate downloading information from a system, parsing it, then outputting it
to a word document. The application provided no error of any sort, it just would never get to the word document portion. Discovered that Visio 2013 was installed around the time that the issue occurred, and that the issue appeared to be related to office interops.
I uninstalled Visio 2013 and it began working as designed. In both cases Visio 2013 had been installed on 11/25/2014 (I didn’t see any corporate communication about an upgrade, but maybe one took place?). Office version is 14.0.7109.5000 User is on Office
    2010 SP2
I’m not sure if you have much experience with interops, but pretty much anytime you want to communicate with a different office application, that is how it is done. Per my reading through various Microsoft KB’s and support forums, different version interops
do not play well together always. It appears that these applications are trying to communicate to office 2010 (v 14) using 2013 (v15) interops, only after installing visio 2013 professional. Users were both Windows 7 x64. We also had a group of several users
who also ran into issues with sharepoint not working in any browser, turned out the problem was Visio 2013 was well....
Feel free to research more, but my own research comes down with having both 2010 and 2013 interops on the machine. To simplify it, the applications and office apps are being told to communicate using office 2013, and but only listen in 2010, causing problems.
Its not causing problems with every simple interop, or we would see it far more widespread, but we are going to continue to see the “ghost” issues where Visio 2013 is the root cause, but nothing is really going to scream it.

  • VS 2013 Build tools installation fails with error "Signature or catalog could not be verified"

VS 2013 ultimate - Build tools installation fails with error "Signature or catalog could not be verified" for MSBuild assemblies. Any idea what could be the problem?

By the way, since MSBuild is embed in Visual Studio why you want to install this again? Do you have any error about this Build Tool when you install Visual Studio 2013 Ultimate?
“Signature or catalog could not be verified” is always related to corrupt source
, please double check you have a healthy network and then try the web installer again.

  • Need Help ASAP with MS Project Professional 2013 - 60-day Trial Download

I followed all steps to download the 60-day trial of MS Project Professional 2013, and it doesn't work.
Once I get to the download manager and download what I think is the trial application, the file comes in as: ProjectProfessional_x86_en-us.img. I tried to launch the program once downloading was completed while Download Manager was open, and it
asks for "choose program you want to use to open this file". The file is specified as disc image file (saved on my file - downloads). An icon didn't successfully download to my deskstop.
Where can I download the actual 60-day Trial Application? I've tried link below and started steps from that point and wasn't successful as it just accepted file as .img and wouldn't save onto my computer.
Has anyone encountered the downloaded trial file as an .img file?
How can I prevent my computer from reading the file as a disc image file in my downloads?
What is the correct extension file of the trial application?
Will product key from original attempted trial download work when attempting 2nd download?
When downloaded successfully, should the file be full data application not just .img file that originally was received on 1st and 2nd attempts at downloading trial?
    Thanks for your help!
    Loren

    Helga --
Do not despair, my friend, for there is a way to install the trial software without burning a CD.  I use a tool called 7-Zip that can extract the files in an IMG or ISO file easily.  It extracts the files and folders into a folder of your choice.
You can download the 7-Zip software for free at:
    http://www.7-zip.org/
And no, I do not work for this company.  I simply user their tool and like it because it allows me to install software without needing to burn a CD or DVD of the software.  And by the way, I downloaded the same trial IMG file that you did and
7-zip was able to extract the files.  From that point, I could install the trial version of Project 2013, as needed.  Hope this helps.
