Office 2013 runs configuration process every time it starts
When I start Word, Excel, Outlook, or Powerpoint, but not OneNote, a window opens called Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013 and runs the Configuration Process which takes several minutes. This only happens on one computer. I have tried suggestions
from other threads for both Office 2010 and 2013, see my post in:
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/officeitpro/thread/8ddd4809-9529-48f0-85a8-ea03598bd83a#0b6ba57c-6509-42e6-b0a5-7657a8ff7334
I added the NoReReg key for all prior versions of Office: 11, 12, 14, and the current 15 (this might have reduced the time the configuration takes - it seems like the progress bar used to run through 3 times, and now only once, but I am not 100% certain).
It appears that priority support doesn't look at posts in other threads, but only original questions, hence, I am posting this.
I tried using Process Monitor to find where the configuration information is stored that prompts Office to rerun this process every time, but there were so many similar events that I gave up after trying to filter it down for several hours.
Hi Brick,
Not sure if you have tried to repair your Office, if no, please try to repair your Office as a quick fix.
If that doesn't work, try to fix it with the following methods:
Method 1:
Open an elevated Command Prompt, type the following command, and then press
ENTER:
secedit /configure /cfg %windir%\inf\defltbase.inf /db defltbase.sdb /verbose
Method 2:
Try start Office in safe mode, see if this problem will still persists. (Press and hold the CTRL key, and then click the Office program to start it in safe mode.)
If the problem does not occur in safe mode, this issue might be related to third-party add-ins. Disable the add-ins and start Office to see whether the problem continues to occur.
If the problem continues to occur in safe mode, we recommend that you uninstall Office and then install it. To do this, read the following Microsoft knowledge base article:

Why do I have to repeat the installation process every time I turn on my PC?

Why do I have to repeat the installation process every time I turn on my PC?
Because you never run the install of whatever program you are referring to with sufficient user privileges and it thus never "sticks". Run as admin, turn of security tools, let the install finish properly. If you need more guidance, provide system info and tell us what program you actualyl mean.

Every time I start iTunes I get the message: "iTunes exec has been set to run in compatability mode for an older version of Windows. Turn off compatability mode for iTunes before you open it." How do I turn off the compatability mode? Particularly when I have to do it before I turn on iTunes.
Try the following document, only be sure that none of the boxes in the compatibility mode tab are checked (not just the compatibility mode box itself):

ITunes Setup Assistant runs every time I start iTunes 7.3.1.3
The past 2 iterations of iTunes have had the same problem for me - even though the program is installed already, it doesn't save my settings and runs the setup assistant every time I start the application. I've gone through the assistant twice and put everything as I had it previously but, once I close the program and restart, the assistant pops up again and my settings are gone. I never had this problem until 7.3 or 7.3.1 and it's very frustrating... (>_<)
IBM T43 Windows XP Pro 2.0 ghz Pentium M, 1 gig ramWell, iTunes appears to finally work correctly. I don't know exactly why this is but it's due to one of three possible things. First, I uninstalled the 2 programs that I had installed to monitor what music I played for their services. These programs were Last.fm for Windows Version 1.3.1.1 iTunes plugin version 2.0.11.0 and Virb.com iTunes Plugin Version 1.0.0.5. Finally, instead of using the Apple Software Update on my computer as I had previously, this time I went directly to Apple's website, downloaded the entire iTunes + Quicktime install package, and reinstalled from that. After doing so, the Setup Assistant ran again but finally remembered my altered settings upon program restart. Now that iTunes was working properly, I have reinstalled both plugins and they now appear to function properly without negatively affecting iTunes. I hope this helps people who have also installed plugins to monitor their music listening patterns and had problems with the latest iTunes update.

How can I get adobe flash player to run without asking every time?
Every time I go to a site that needs adobe flash player it asks if its ok to let it run. How do I make it run without asking every time?
A possible cause is that you do not have the latest version of the Shockwave Flash player (16.0.0.305).
You can check that in "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Plugins" ("Ask to Activate" or "Always Activate").
You can find the latest Flash player versions for Firefox on this page:

Element 12 runs updating every time it starts why?
element 12 runs updating every time it starts why?
The problem is that I have 35,000 photos and every time I start it runs for a long time and most time does not add any thing
Can some help explain is there a way to stop or control this ?
Thanks ..Check that you do not run Firefox as Administrator.
Right-click the Firefox desktop shortcut and choose "Properties".
In the Compatibility tab, make sure that Privilege Level: "Run this program as Administrator" is not selected.
You also need to check the Properties of the firefox.exe program in the Firefox program directory.
If you can't make the changes then you need to start Windows Explorer as Administrator.
-
Neither my shortcuts nor my firefox.exe have Run As Administrator checked. And yet I get this prompt every time I start Firefox on my new laptop with Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.
unchecking "Run this program as an administrator" under the Compatibility tab in the properties of the program was my first guess....darn.
Ok I understand that this is only happening in Firefox. If you start it in safe mode does this still happen? This will tell you if its an add on or a changed configuration:[[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]] -
I get a nimax.exe- Application Error every time I start labview
every time I start a vi either by double clicking or by opening labview first I get an application error... "the instruction at "0x1ca12b96" referenced at "0x00000000", The memory could not be "read", click ok to terminate the program". when I click ok the program does not terminate and as long as I don't close labview completely I can close it and reopen the vi. I am unsure if the program malfuncions after that point but it is certainly an annoyance. Have you seen this problem before? Is there something that I should do to the vi to correct the problem? Thanks,
David Long
K.H. ControlsI talked to NI about this issue, and tried the following WITH success (note that I am running W2k and Labview 6.0.2):
1. Uninstall all NI components in the reverse order you installed them. For me, this was Ni-Daq, Ni-488.2, and finally Labview 6.0. If you have to, look at the modified or created dates of the folders to see what order you did it in.
2. After this, I decided to go a bit further and delete the registry key for Ni-Daq under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\National Instruments\NI-DAQ. Make sure you Export your registry key beforehand in case something goes wrong.
3. Install Labview 6.0, custom installation. For this installation, DO NOT INSTALL the drivers, just Labview.
4. After that, I installed the upgrade patch for Labview 6i -> 6.0.2, downloaded at ni.com.
5. Next I downloaded the 2 files for NI-DAQ 6.9.3, uncompressed the files, and ran the setup. When the installation was done, I chose to not reboot now, but let me do it later. At one of these points, you can also Mass compile the VI's. I don't think it's necessary at this point, but I did it anyway.
6. Finally, I downloaded NI-488.2 version 2.2 (which has a new version of MAX than NI-DAQ 6.9.3), uncompressed it and installed it.
7. After this last step, I rebooted the computer and was able to finally get into MAX to configure my DAQ card.
So far, this method has worked. Perhaps it can work for you. -
Itunes reconfigures every time i startit
I updated to itunes 11 and now every time I start itunes it is like a brand-new account, like using itunes for the first time, music gone, movies gone, playlists gone. I keep all my media on a supplemental hard drive, which I had configured on itunes 10 to find it there, and never had a problem since updating to itunes 11. I have over 30,000 songs and I have had to reload my itunes now 5 times. also, since updating, every time i try to sync my ipod it says it is not synced to this computer, would I like to wipe it clean and start over? Is there a known fix for this? Why is this happening?
hmmmm. could you post your CD/DVD diagnostics for us, steph?
in itunes 7.0.x, go "help > run diagnostics", select DVD/CD diagnostics and then hit Next.
in itunes 6.0.x or earlier, go "help > run CD diagnostics"
paste the complete results into a reply here. -
My iPhoto crashes every time I start the program.
Hi
My iPhoto crashes every time I start the program.
I've just updated to iPhoto 11
I have OS X 10.7.2
I do not have the 3ivxVideoCodec stuff on my MacMe again. Well, spoke too soon. Got iPhoto back up and tried the Photostream again and it crashed again.
Here is the entire crash report on that. Now I really am thinking it has to be something with the iCloud.

Macbook boots twice every time it starts
I have the latest Macbook 13' bought in 2013. I noticed that recently every time I start or restart my Mac, it boots twice. I would be prompted to enter the password after the launch sound and then after I enter my password, a bar appears and when it loads to full, my Mac would restart and repeat the process, asking me to enter my password again. This time without the launch sound.
Is this normal?Found this one: http://www.reddit.com/r/mac/comments/2afahr/have_to_login_twice_for_macbook_pro/
Is FileVault enabled? If so, you have to login once to unlock the encrypted disc followed by your standard account login.
Edit: To check if FileVault is enabled open System Preferences -> Security & Privacy -> FileVault -
How do I tell photoshop to stop opening the same document every time I start Photoshop CS6?
Hi all,
Each and every time I start up Photoshop CS6 (running the latest version I think....13.0.1 x64) on my Mac Running 10.7.5
the same document opens up. As if it thinks it crashed and needs to recover it. Im a member of Creative Cloud in case that matters.
I have saved the document and closed it properly and yet - it returns every time I start up the program. Can anyone help?
Its not a killer issue but extremely annoying.
thank you.
-wendy-Yeah - literally can't find anything remotely similar. If anyone knows where I might find the thread to a fix I'd be mightly helpful.
Haven't a clue how to word to it any differently to try to find the answer. -
Why is my library being repaired every time I start Aperature?
Hi,
A while back, I suddenly started to get a wraning everytime I started Aperture 3, telling me that my library needs repairing. This happens now every time I start Aperture, and the rapair process takes ages (10-15 mins). Anyone know WHY? and how to solve this issue?
Kind Regards
ArneAnyone?
Arne,
are you holding down cmd-option while starting the Aperture Application or while double clicking the Library? Try double clicking the Library, while holding down cmd-option.
If possible, turn on the "Activity Window" after you launch Aperture (Window -> Show Activity). With luck you can spot what Aperture is trying so desparately to repair. You may have one single corrupted image in the Library that Aperture is trying to repair. Then the problem could be solved by deleting this corrupted image.
Does Aperture work well, if you create a new, empty library?
File -> Switch to Library -> New
If you even have problems with a new, empty library, try to reinstall Aperture.
But if you can create a new library, and Aperture seems to work well with this Library, and if you have enough free disk space, you could try to clone your library by importing it into a new library, either by exporting several smaller libraries from your current library and then importing successively these smaller libraries into the new, empty library, or importing all at once. -
LabVIEW 8.0.1 on Windows 8 wants to mass compile every time I start it?
My Windows 7 machine took a dump and I installed LabVIEW 8.0 on a new Windows 8 machine. I then installed the 8.0.1 upgrade and did the mass compile. I then installed NIVPM and attempted to install the openG package which some of my vis depend on. Only a few of the openG modules installed without dependency issues or somesuch. Now every time I start LabVIEW it is as if I never did the mass compile and it wants to do it all over again. I don't recall having any such issue when I installed labVIEW in Win7 (or Vista, or XP). Am I missing something? Can someone help... please???
In case it matters the machine is an HP Pavillion G7-2240US laptop, Intel Core i32370M @ 2.4 GHz, 6.00 GB RAMOK, I get it. You are irritated that you can't do something you wanted to do. I can't understand what bug you are talking about. LV8 doesn't run on Win8? That's not a bug. By your logic I should be able to dig out the old V4 disks I have laying around and run them on my Win7 computer. Or better yet, I still have an old Mac488 GPIB interface box made by IOTech. Should I be expecting NI to come out with DAQmx drivers for it? They did after all buy out the company.
I got two words for you: obsolete happens. V8 was a good version in its day, but its day was 6 years ago. Someday LV2013 will be obsolete - heck someday you will be obsolete. It just happens, so my suggestion is to go buy yourself a pair of big-boy pants and stop whining.
Mike...
PS: If you found any of what I just said offensive, please reread my last suggestion.
