Office Extend and Controller association

Hi,
Can we can mark option 43 in DHCP pool to point to the controller IP address for the OEAP, as LAPs do? or have to be it manually typed through the Web GUI in the AP?... some way to do a massive deployment of this kind without manual intervention one by
Regardsone?

Welcome,
Yes, a 5508 in the DMZ can act as both a anchor and officeextends solution. Very good cost effective solution whereby allowing you to use 1 WLC to do 2 functions.
I hope this helps. If this answered your question please kindly support the rating system.

Office Extend printers have issues with pullprint.
This only happens when using Office Extend. Some office locations have been connected using Office Extend and then moved over to subscriber line which fixes the issues. printer is connected to port 4 of  OEAP 600. Please suggest
    Manish

when the error occurs, the office temp files are owned by someone with the same uid, so office says the documents are in use even though they're not.
do your users login with network or portable homes? if so, they should all have unique uids/gids.
if they're logging in locally, then mounting afp shares with unique ids, that won't cut it.
the most efficient way to avoid this is to have your users login with network or portable homes. this may not make sense for your environment, however.
the other option is to change users' local uids, as outlined in the mvps article linked above. use dscl instead of nicl to do this.

  • Office extend 1142 and dtls keepalive failure

    Hi
I am setting up office extend with 1142 APs on a 5508 controller.  All seems ok and I see my SSIDs on the remote AP.   However when I try to connect I don't get a dhcp address and the connection fails.  When I look at logs and some debugs I see dtls keepalive failures and the AP is actually disconnecting and re-associating with the controller.
As a troubleshooting step I decided to disable Data encryption through the AP advanced tab and after the AP resets all is now working.
Would anyone have an idea why data encryption would cause the issue ?  I have opened the standard 5246 and 5247 UDP ports on my firewall.  Have I missed out some other port that may need opened ?
    Many thanks, St.

    Scott
The AP is changed from Local mode to H-REAP mode.
In the H-REAP tab we have Enable Office Extend ticked.
In the Advanced tab to get this to work the Data Encryption box is unticked and the text below says Current Dta Encryption Status is plain text.  I can't think of any other settings related to office extend other than the NAT stuff on the management interface and allowing 5246 and 5247 through the firewall.
So if these settings are being correctly reported the question is why do I then see Data and ctrl being encrypted when I do "Show dtls connections"  If I have unticked Data encryption I expect to see only ctrl connections being encrypted.
I can't see any other config issue that would allow dhcp and a connection to work with Data encryption disabled and cause it to fail with Data encryption enabled.
The AP always joins the controller no matter what the Data encryption setting is.  However with it unticked the AP retains its connection to the controller and I can get an IP and pass data normally.  With the data encryption box ticked the AP joins the controller then soon afterwards drops off reporting a DTLS keepalive issue.  No IP address and no data passed.  In fact with data encryption ticked I see a message of the form "DTLS plumbed in" or something similar.  Then soon after I get the keepalive error and the AP drops off.
    Thanks, St.

  • Will the 4404 Controller support Office Extend

According to the The Software release bulletin
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/wireless/ps6302/ps8322/ps10315/product_bulletin_c25-530367_ps10315_Products_Bulletin.html
We just purchased a 4404 controller. The document above states 4404 controllers have the capability to be upgraded to the new 6.0 software which supports Office extend. Does anyone have any idea whether it will be possible to purchase a wplus (wireless plus) license to enable office extend on a 4404 controller?
    Thanks

Regarding Office Extend is a new "feature" with the new 5508 controller running the new IOS, 6.X and Office Extend license. No one as yet knows if the Office Extend feature will be extended to the WLC200/2100, 4400 or the WiSM. I am suspecting that because Office Extend is a license feature, I have no doubt that this will be exclusive to the 5508.
Because the 5508 can AP support license can support 25, 50, 100 and 250, anticipate the End-Of-Sale announcement of the WLC 2100 and the WLC 4400.

  • Cisco Jabber for Windows in Extend and Connect mode and making outbound calls

    Hi guys,
I've set up Cisco Jabber for Windows to use Extend and Connect to control a remote PBX endpoint. I've configured the required CTI-RD device, remote destinations, associated the users to the line and added the devices to end-user controlled device. The extend and connect part is working flawlessly without any issues. I'm able to receive inbound calls on the remote PBX endpoint and control the call (hold, resume, transfer etc.) using the Jabber call window that pops up.
However, I'm unable to make any outbound calls via the Jabber client when in extend and Connect mode. Reading the Extend and Connect guide, I need to configure Dial Via Office (DVO) Reverse. So when the user initiates a Dial-Via-Office reverse call, CUCM calls and connect to the Extend and Connect device (CTI-RD). CUCM then calls and connects to the number the user dialled and finally connects the two call legs.
After attempting to configure DVO-R for Jabber for Windows in Extend and Connect mode following the CUCM feature services guide, i'm unable to get any outbound calls working. From RTMT, i am receiving the following Termination Cause Code: (27) Destination out of order. What i also notice is that there is no calling number for that trace either. I would've thought that the calling party would've been the Enterprise Feature Access (EFA) number.
Has anyone got this working or can provide some guidance?
    Thanks.

  • Extending a controller, but not sure which one to extend

    Hi Tech Gurus,
I have a task ( validate a input field say Number) and my approach is to extend a controller and write my code in the ProcessFormRequest section.
But i am unable to know which controller to extend ?
My approach is - for the particular page i have to see the Personalize page and get the Document Name out of there. The About Page  will show all the controller involved with the particular input field Number.
Then have to see that xml file in the JDev and then extend the controller.
But my problem is when i look at About Page. i find multiple Number there and so cannot track which one is the one pointing my input field and thus cannot conclude which controller and view objects are associated with it.
    Hope the question is clear.
    Thanks in Advance.

  • Redundant guest anchor/office extend 5508 controllers

    Hello,
We are looking to deploy 2 guest anchor/office extend 250 AP 5508 Controllers.
The first 5508 would be primary for both public wireless and office extend AP's.  The second 5508 would not be used unless the first controller fails.
What is best practice when it comes to the certificate for public wireless.  Should I create single certificate for both controllers or have two different certificates?
    Thanks

This makes sense.  What would I need to do so that the networks don't overlap on both controllers for guest?  Would I need to make new networks on the secondary controller:

  • Office Extend Mode

I have got a 3502 setup anf functioing in Office Extend mode. I have found one issue though. I have to set the checkbox on the my Management Interface to Enable NAT Address and put the external address in the box. Once this occurs no internal APs can join the controller.
Does anyone have any ideas on setting this up with a single controller behind a router and not having to set the NAT Address for the Management interface? Should I setup a second interface on the controller to be for external management?

Ok, well no worries. As Steve pointed out there is/was a NAT issue on earlier code. I think it was fixed in M1. but again, if you give the WLC an outside address and protect it with ACLs from the outside and allow your internal folks to hit it from the inside you should be ok. But again, I dont know how your network is designed or your specific design requirements. Please take these as suggestions as they may apply.
Perhaps Steve can add to this as well...

  • Office extend option not seen under flexconnect

I have a 2602i , registered on a virtual controller with 7.6.130.0, running in flexconnect mode, but I dont see office extend option under flexconnect, any comments ???

well I could not find an evaluation dtls lic for virtual controller, so I installed a 7500 controller dtls lic and it shows in use and data encryption is enable on AP, still i don't see office extend option.
I am not sure its because I am using a 7500 dtls licence.

  • Office Extend

I have a question about Office Extend solution.
Is there a limit on how many users can use office extend?
I know that the Aironet 600 AP only supports 15 connections.
However, office extend is supported on other APs. (3600 series for example).
If I use Office Extend with 3600 AP am I able to have 50 connections?

    Here is the config guide:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps11579/products_tech_note09186a0080b7f10e.shtml
The "yellow" port is for LAN side connectivity. The traffic sent across this specific port will be encapsulated in CAPWAP and be sent back to the controller. You will need to configure LAN configuration on the WLC for this port to work. This is also a very important topic. Your WLANs will be secured with PSK or EAP. However, this port is not, so you might want to use WEB AUTH with 802.1X or something to secure that port. Just in case the AP ever gets stolen someone cant just plug into port 4 and gain access.
If you find any of this helpful please support the rateing system! Thanks again!

  • Office Extend Question(s)

I have a couple of questions surrounding the Office Extend 600 series access points.
    Currently we have 2- WLC5508s.
    1) In the Deployment guide it mentions turning off Aironet IE and Coverage Hole Detection. Is this required, or just highly recommended? What types of issues are we expected to encounter if we have Aironet IE and Coverage Hold Detection enabled with Office Extend AP's?
    2) In a Primary, Secondary configuration of WLC controllers, I would need to setup another NAT configuration for the second controller int he event of a failover correct? Any alternatives?

Ok so I understand your oe will connect to inside controllers not a DMZ controller. Thats fine .. Here is another way to skin this cat ..
You can create the same ssid as production but name it differently under the profile name. So you can have the same WLAN ssid name.
Under the new WLAN number it above 16, same 100. Configure this one as spec'd in the oe manual.
Then create an ap group for your oe aps and include WLAN 100 in the group.
This way you can have the same ssid, different configs. Since the WLAN is above 16 they don't get broadcasted out unless you put the aps in the group.
    Make sense ?

  • Is it time yet for Microsoft to "Recall" Office 2013 and provide anyone who has a 2013 license a replacement Office 2010 license?

The interface is terrible and can't be changed.  Every application in the suite locks up/crashes nearly constantly on any machine it is used on.  The activation process is terrible and wastes hours of any support/IT dept's time.  From a 'privacy
standpoint', the software is seemingly criminally intrusive.  It is clearly a product that should never have been released and is so far from functional that it can't be repaired by any 'service pack', 'hotfix', or 'patch'.  It needs to be completely
    scrapped.
The only 'redeeming quality' of this software is that the guy who was in charge of creating it is gone from Microsoft.  (Unfortunately, he is now President Obama's appointee for running the attempt at repairing the 'healthcare.gov' website...
out of the frying pan...   )
When the software is installed using one profile (domain or machine account) and a different profile tries to use the software, it requires 're-activation' - which often fails because the software believes it has been installed multiple times. (This is particularly
frustrating because it has to be installed by an administrative user, but most of the time, the person who 'uses' the software is not the 'administrator' - so it is almost always being 'installed' using one profile and 'used' using another profile).
The necessary intrusion into privacy created by the requirement of a "Microsoft Account" to use the software is seemingly criminal.
The tracking of, and installation of licenses is absolutely ridiculous.
    An example:
Many of my clients have many users and many computers (up to 75 or so).
I could create a "Microsoft User Account" for each 'user', but these machines get moved between users, and the software license is tied to the 'machine' and not to the 'user' so as soon as that happens, the licenses and the users are no longer
in line and become impossible to track.
I could create a "Microsoft User Account" for each 'computer'... and I can't even count the ways this would be a nightmare to try to track.
I actually did that up front for one client, and created Exchange email boxes for each computer so that "prove you are really you" emails from Microsoft could be received managed, and responded to, and passed out second usernames and passwords
to all of the users so they could "log-in" to their Office 2013 software, and created a database of the 'computer usernames and passwords' so I could track this... unfortunately, this confused the users (as it rightfully should) so they would change
the passwords for their computer's 'Microsoft User Account' thus locking me out and invalidating my database, ... and... CLUSTERF#%K!!!
As a 'best - worst case', I have had to create a single 'Microsoft User Account" for each of my clients' businesses so I can install and activate Office 2013 products.  This is a whole new set of "Awesome Stupidity".
Now, I can put a new computer into a client's office and install their new license key for their oem Office 2013, and it shows up in the 'business's Microsoft User Account'.  Then when I give the machine to the user, I get to 're-activate' the software
(hoping that it doesn't tell me to piss-off - which happens about 40% of the time.  This is a process that can only be described as a "feat of engineering created by a group of monkeys whose former jobs included 'janitor at MAD magazine headquarters'
    or 'beer-pong referee').
It starts with two hours of pressing phone buttons and ultimately talking to someone who tells me "yeah, nothin' I can do about that I'm just here for product activation" (which, incidentally, is done by machine until you pass through MS's ridiculous
labyrinth of repetitious keystroking until the machine is convinced you are just too stupid to punch in the right numbers and allows you to talk to a person... who then asks you for the exact same set of numbers and repeats back the exact same responding set
of numbers and acts dumbfounded when it still doesn't work - since it didn't work the first six times you punched or said it into the phone) followed by "I need to send you to the support group... but because it's 6:30 pm (in a process you started at
3:00pm) they are gone for the day and you'll have to call back on Monday morning"
At some point in the process, you get to log into the "Microsoft user account" and 'roll the roulette wheel of stupidity' by trying to activate the right software from a list of 40 different lines that all say "Microsoft Office 2013 Home and
Business oem", but none give any indicator or differentiating factor like for instance: license key, date installed, license key last 4 digits, mother's maiden name, phase of moon when software was first activated, color or type of blood of the user's
paperboy's dog's previous owner... NOTHING... RANDOM FREAKING STAB IN THE DARK - pick one, any one, hope its the license you are trying to install onto this machine, 'cause if not, you very well may kill the product on some other machine.
So through the process, the lucky support staff person gets' to waste roughly an hour and a half on average for every Microsoft Office 2013 installation.  I have actually had to start telling my clients that they are going to likely have to pay an extra
$100 or so per machine in order to get their new Microsoft Office software which comes on their new computer activated - that number tends to work out roughly accurately - except that it is a terrible way of trying to 'please a client'.
Oh,... and did I mention... "THE SOFTWARE CONSISTANTLY FAILS"!?!
A client tries to open a document that they have been using for 8 years and Excel doesn't say "Hey, I don't know how to deal with some element of the file that you put in here using Excel 2003, or Office 2010 (both products, by the way, which worked
great) - no... instead,... it crashes.  Doesn't really do any damage to the file it choked on, but the work you'd been doing on three other files which you also had open,... yeah,... that work is gone.
Yeah,.... over time, I have developed a pretty consistent spiel for client's needing new computers that goes over how absolutely terrible Office 2013 is, and explains that our options are further limited by Microsoft's yanking of all Office 2010 or previous
products from market availability, and explaining the merits of both LibreOffice and OpenOffice, as well as their drawbacks.  I also have a strangely static response explaining how "larger companies are not burdened by these issues because they are
able to use MOPL which allows them to downgrade their productivity software to Office 2010 so they can continue to function happily, but this is really not a cost effective solution for smaller companies who primarily buy oem Office products with their replacement
    computers".
Unfortunately, many clients still decide they want to go with Office 2013 because they apparently believe "it really can't be that bad".  The value in my 'presale descriptions' are only really realized when they come back to me a week, two
weeks, or up to a month after the new machine is in place and say "wow,... you were right".  The place I am left open for any further problems is when I don't impress upon them beforehand just HOW BAD OFFICE 2013 REALLY IS.  In that case,
they still come back to me as though I have done something wrong foe selling them this piece of $#!% software and I have to remind them of our previous discussions.
Strangely, far too few heed the warnings and buy the software anyway - but the discussion has saved many clients the costs of Microsoft Project, because the discussion of LibreOffice and OpenOffice nearly always leads to at least a small philosophical conversation
about 'Open Source Software' in general, and my absolute favorite descriptive analogy in that discussion is to compare Microsoft Project at $600 v. ProjectLibre at $0 - and then further describe the costs of licensing and implementing the associated back-end
    server solutions, etc.
This is a saving grace for me, because even though the client has been saddled with Office 2013, they have also saved substantially on Project and it is a rare (but granted, not absolutely absent) occasion that ProjectLibre is lacking some feature or function
that they actually need or want to use - and on those occasions, finding out has cost them absolutely nothing in software purchases.
Its not surprising, I suppose, that clients have grown to accept Office as a required 'cost', but still choke heavily on the price-tag of Project every time they have to buy it.  The interesting thing to watch over the coming couple of years will be
'how many businesses stop accepting MS Office as a 'required cost' due to the failing of the software itself and the fact that most are being burned, at least once, by purchasing the software "against technical advice" and are learning, merely by
virtue of HOW BAD Office is, that there are other options out there that both cost less and work better... I mean,... LOTS BETTER.
How many businesses that are used to accepting the cost of Microsoft Office as a cost of doing business will be moved over to open source options and satisfied by them by the time Microsoft releases its next version - which will, presumably work - such that
they will no longer justify the cost of Microsoft's offering even if it is 'superior' to the open source offerings because the open source offerings are plenty sufficient and include a price tag of $0 and an installation/implementation time that is much, much
    shorter than Microsoft's offering.
If Microsoft doesn't make some dramatic reparations, and do it soon, I expect their market share will be reduced in this area by a very significant margin.
I am suggesting either a 'Complete Recall' of Office 2013 including an 'uninstall 2013/install 2010' process driven by the automatic update engine, or at the very least, a free and easy downgrade rights offering for anybody who has already purchased 2013
and anyone who purchases it between now and the time the next "functional product" is released.

I understand the inconvenience you are experiencing when working with Office 2013.
If you have any feedback about Office 2013 product, click the and submit to Microsoft.
Microsoft will decide how to fix the problem for all customers.
For the activation mechanism, it intends to protect customers of their rights and interests.
For a retail version of Office, if it was purchased with a disk, Microsoft account is not necessary during the installation.

  • Word, Acrobat 9 Pro Extended and PDF Maker

I am still using Acrobat 9 Pro Extended and I also have Office 2010 installed on my Windows 7 laptop. Is there a way to get PDF Maker to work in Office? Right now when I open Word for example the PDF tab does not appear anywhere. I tried running the repair feature in Acrobat but nothing has changed.
I believe Office needs to be installed first then Acrobat so PDF Maker can be installed. I did this intially when I had Office 2007 but then I unintalled it and installed Office 2010 and I'm guessing that is why things aren't working. Am I going to need to reinstall Acrobat 9 Pro Extended?

  • How to Open DOC in Office 2003 and DOCX on Office 2007 automatcally when both installed on same pc

How to Open .DOC file in Office 2003 and .DOCX on Office 2007 automatcally when both office 2003 and 2007 are installed on same pc
When tried with open with files automatically open in 2007.

Presumably you've confirmed that both copies of Word are working alongside each other, and if you right click on a document you see both options listed in the Open With menu?
If so the first thing to try is to right click on a .doc file, go to the Open With menu and then click "Choose default program". If both versions of Word are listed then simply choose Word 2003, ensuring the option to always use this choice is selected.
If you find that both options are listed as "Microsoft Word" with no version number, or only one is listed, then select the more options entry and then at the bottom of the list select to find another app on the PC. You can then navigate to the Word 2003 executable
    and select it that way.
Alternatively, search in the start menu for "associations" and you'll find an option to change the file type associated with a file extension. Open that and you'll get a list of every extension known to Windows, and within that you'll find .doc and .docx
listed, and you can change which application each is associated to.

  • Problem while extending and modifying the ISA B2B app on SAP J2EE 6.4

We are facing some problem with extending and modifying the ISA B2B 4.0 application.
First Let me clarify you the whole scenario.
Previously we had ISA B2B 4.0 SP03 deployed on SAP J2EE 6.20 Engine.
We had used eclipse 3.0 to extend and modify the application as NWDS does not support SAP J2EE 6.20.
We had used ant buildtool to build the modified application which comes along with the ISA Software Archive.
We had successfully done all the modifications and application was running fine...
Now we have upgraded the overall J2EE infrastructure and using J2EE 6.4 Engine which supports NWDS.
We have successfully deployed the ISA B2B  application which comes along with the Support Package.
We are using Support Package ISAWAC40SP11P_7-20000529.SAR E-Selling 640. The application is working fine after all
the configuration done in XCM and SAP CRM 4.0 system.
Now for modification and extension i have created another b2b enterprise archive with name "b2b_client.ear" using ant buildtool.
I've done the modification and extension .. added some Z classes and JSP pages. Now when i try to deploy the application using
SDM 6.40, I got an error message stating
<b>"com.sap.sdm.util.sduread.IllFormattedSduFileException: The archive must be deployed with a 6.20 SDM, which has a SDM-SDA compatible version 1 or greater."</b>
I think this error is due to the incompatible sda_build.xml used in the build process but we have used the same xml file bundled with the above mentioned ".sar" file..
Please help or suggest someone who can help me out from this...
    Thanks & Regards.

    Hi Alkis.
First, you need to specify the fully qualified class name of your based-RequestProcessor class in the config.xml file like
    <controller  contentType="text/html;charset=UTF-8"  locale="true"  nocache="true"
      processorClass="com.mycompany.struts.framework.MyRequestProcessor"/>
If you review the source code of the ActionServlet and RequestProcessor classes, you can see that overwritten methods (by you) are executed every time the client makes a request to the struts based application.
I hope you can run your approach. And it will be excellent you can shared how you will do it.
    Kindest regards.
