Office or Creative Suite with site licensing on Lion Server

Can Office or Creative Suite with site licensing reside on a mac mini server for the network to use or do the applications need to be on each computer in the network?

The big software makers constantly winge about customers must ensure they are legal regarding software licensing. However they not only don't make this easy, they actually go out of their way to make it hard in terms of purchasing, license management and auditing. We will ignore the separate issue of some of them actively ripping customers off over pricing (I am looking at you Adobe).
I can say that it was technically possible with Office 2004 for Mac to install a single volume-license version of Office on a server and run it sumultaneously on multiple client logins. I have not had the opportunity to try this with Office 2012 for Mac.
Note: I had more than enough individual Office 2004 licenses to cover the number of clients when I did this.
Another approach to investigate is the use of KeyServer from Sassafras Software. This can take a standard version of an application and wrap it with extra license management code. The KeyServer software then controls how many simultaneous copies can be run, you can even book copies out for use on a laptop you are taking out of the office. The booking would be for a fixed time limit after which it is released and no longer works until you contact the license server again.
See http://www.sassafras.com/licensing.html
I believe in the past and maybe still now, that Sassafras worked with the major software developers to enable this. I don't know whether Adobe, Microsoft, etc. are still enabling this or whether they have continued to show their stupidity by stopping this and making license management even harder. I suggest you contact Sassafras to discuss this.
Note: Even though FileMaker has serial numbers and user licenses, it is possible to easily manage things using a single serial key as FileMaker let you buy a volume license key and you are simply allowed to run up to a that specific number of simultaneous copies, there is none of the stupid hassle of product activation etc. linked to individual hardware devices.

  • Creative suite CS3 lost Licensing and stopped working. support sent me to a site to download CS3 application but got error 404. How do I download?

Adobe support sent me to a  Photoshop suite CS3 site but when I clicked the download for mac option I was redirected to a site with an error 404.

    Download CS3 products
For anything beyond that you will have to be a lot more specific and provide proper system information or details like what browser you use.

  • Can I transfer my Creative suite CS 6 License without my original CS5 Disks?

    Hi,
I bought Creative suite CS5 premium (mac) but I have lost the original disks in a recent move, I have recently upgraded to 5.5 with the free cs6 upgrade which turned up last week.
My circumstances have now chaged and I would like to sell and transfer the product/license but can the new owner install the product with just the 5.5 & 6 disks?
I have record of the serial number for CS5 - would that work?
    I hope this makes sense

Some users have reported success using the steps listed under http://forums.adobe.com/thread/981369.  It should be noted though that this will take you to the instructions to initiate a direct download of Creative Suite 6.  You will need to navigate the Prodesigntools site to locate the instructions for CS5.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS 5.5 Creative Suite with Corel Sketchpad

    Hi,
I purchased Adobe Photoshop CS 5.5 a few years ago and it came with Corel Painter Sketchpad.
I have been using the sketchpad once in a while since then.
Recently I could not see the media settings in the Sketchpad so I decided to update the program, but instead, I upgraded it without realising it. As a result, Corel upgraded it for me and gave me one month trial and then I would have to buy the program. This program came together with Photoshop CS 5.5 in 2012 and I had it since then.
I would like to ask you very much to update my Corel Sketchpad so I can use it as I was before since it came with my Adobe Photoshop Creative Suite.
    Thank you so very much,
    Georgeta

Adobe has no influence on third-party OEM deals and whatever technical issues you have can probably easily resolved by reinstalling the original software.

  • Creative Suite CS 4 Licensing Issue

Hi there, a few month ago I installed the Creative Suite in a computer but then suddenly that computer OS got broken so I formatted and install a different OS and re-install the CS again, and then last week the computer died. So I bought a new one and I'm install the CS4 but now I get a message that I've already activated the suite in two pcs, so my question is how can I deactivate the license if the computer is broken? The hard disk is ok, but I have to format it in order to work in a new computer , what could I do in that case?
    Thanks.
    Michael

Try this method outlined by Adobe:
You can use the following method to initiate the Java runtime installation or confirm it is currently installed.
Go to Applications > Utilities > Java Preferences.
    Open the Java Preferences.
If Java is not installed, you receive the following message:
“To open “Java Preferences," you need a Java runtime. Would you like to install one now?”

  • Re-install the adobe creative suite with my 12-month pre-paid membership

My laptop was restored to factory settings and basically completely rebuilt, and in the process I lost the adobe creative suite apps that I had installed. When I tried to use my membership access code to reinstall the apps, it said the access code had already been used. How can I reinstall them with the membership that I have already paid for?

    Hi there!
In your case, I'd highly recommend switching off auto-renewal once you've purchased your annual membership. You can make changes to your Creative Cloud subscription on the My Account page on Adobe.com: https://www.adobe.com/account.html Just click on "My subscriptions and services" in the far right column. Once your full annual membership commitment ends, go in and make sure your annual membership has fully expired and does not automatically renew. Then all you have to do is purchase your 12-month pre-paid from Amazon and make sure you use the same account information you used in your first subscription.
The only fee that you could encounter in this process is if you decide to cancel your annual memberships early: (taken from the Creative Cloud FAQ)
If you decide to cancel a 3- or 12-month prepaid membership purchased at a retailer or online store, you will receive a refund of 50% of the value of the time left on your membership. To cancel your membership, contact Adobe Customer Service.
To cancel a one-year membership, you can either go online to the Account page on www.creativecloud.com or contact Adobe Customer Service. If you cancel your membership before meeting the 12-month commitment date, you will be charged 50% of the remaining amount left on your contract.
So make sure your full annual membership does not renew after your commitment date!
After your annual membership expires or is cancelled, the applications you have installed will be deactivated and you won't be able to use them. You don't need to uninstall and reinstall them - you'll just need to enter your new subscription information in the Application Manager the next time you reopen the applications.
If you have any issues with this process, or want more personalized help, you can always contact Adobe Customer Service: http://helpx.adobe.com/contact/

  • How to download creative suite with the serial number

I have the discs from when I purchased creative suite 3. The serial number is registered to me. I recently bought a macbook pro. I would like to get my creative suite over to the new computer. Any suggestions on how to do that?

Just install the application from the discs and use the serial number to activate.  You are allowed to have two machines with activated installations if you wish to keep both working.  If you wish to free up the extra activation then open an application on the old machine and choose Help -> Deactivate.

  • Creative Suite 4 student licensing question

I just purchased what I guess is the student edition of Creative Suite 4 from the college bookstore online.
    The front cover says:
Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design Standard
    Student Licensing
    Academic ID required
    Serial number required for installation
    Here is my question:
I own two Macs.  Can I install this software on both of them, or only on one of them?

Yes, from what I understand you can very well put it on two computers as long as you are the operator of both machines.

  • Installing FCP on 20 Computers with Site License

We have just purchased a 20 user site license for FCP for our school. I would like to install this in our lab, but I am hoping I do not have to download the app 20 times (once for each machine). Since Apple only seems to want to allow app purchases and installs through the App Store, this is becoming a bit of a pain.
While there are possible ways of interupting the download, and saving the temp pkg files that are downloaded, etc., before they are deleted, it just seems to me like Apple should have an ellegant way of dealing with this situation. Obviously this is not just an FCP issue. Any organization with multiple computers needs to have an efficient way of installing apps on multiple computers.
Am I missing something, or is there a proper way of doing this besides going to each computer and downloading gigs of data every time.

Thanks. I just figured out the same thing. Didn't realize that FCP was a fully self contained application. Interestingly enough, when I copied it over to the other machines, it did not even ask for a license code or anything. I am assuming that all that data is stored within the app somehow when we downloaded under the specific redemption code? The whole process with redemption codes is a bit strange, in that although you are given 20 separate redemption codes, apparently you just need 1 to dowload once and then you can install on multiple machines w/o having to use any of the other remaining redemption codes.

  • Creative Suite with Arabic enabled

I am looking at purchasing a copy of Creative Suite Design Standard CS6 here in Australia and was wondering once installed can I change it to Middle Eastern version by changing my locations in 'preferences' in Adobe Application Manager?

There are no ME versions in CS6. Al lthe relevant features have been natively integrated, they may just need to be enabled in teh prefs/ text-centric panels.

You can't. Microsoft have not added support for the industry standard sync protocols iCloud uses.

  • Problems with Boot Camp, OSX Lion Server 10.7.3, and Windows 7

My new Mac Mini Server is running OSX Lion Server 10.7.3. I want to install Windows 7 as a dual boot. I start up Boot Camp and use an ISO image to create a USB boot disk. I don't seem to be able to use the DVD to install, so I use an ISO image on disk. I continue with the Boot Camp installation, with all three options on the main screen checked.  When I get to the part where I have to pick a partition on which to install, the only one I can select, and must format, is the partition labeled BOOTCAMP. But the Boot Camp support software Windows is installed there. I can continue with the Windows installation, and boot into Windows 7 with no problem. But since the Boot Camp drivers were wiped out, I cannot connect to the network, etc. I don't have a Boot Camp control panel either.I did this once before on my other Mac Mini Server I have, running the same OSX Lion Server 10.7.3, and it worked without a problem. I'm writing this message on that copy of Windows. But this new install just will not work, after two days of trying. I *must* get this working. I'm stumped.
CAN ANYONE HELP ??? TIA !!!!

First, this is re-post of your other thread.
Your driverrs were not and will not be "wiped out."
Run Boot Camp Assistant. Download the drivers
Your profile says Lion so that will let you store drivers on flash memory card.
They are never placed where Boot Camp created a partition.
