Officejet 4500, Only printing header, not printing text in body of any document.

Cannot get Officejet 4500 to print any thing other than headers on any document.
Nothing in the body of any document is printing.
Full ink cartridges, set for grayscale only.
Does print test pages and is connected to my wireless network.
Any help would be appreciated.

  • How to set HP OfficeJet 4500 used as a network printer to print in black not color as a default.

I have my HP officejet printer set as a network printer but it prints color when I had initially set it for B&W as my default during set-up
How do I set my HP OfficeJet 4500 used as a network printer to print in black not color as the default.
    Thanks,

OK, go to Start > Control Panel > Printers.  Right click the printer in question and choose Printing Preferences.  Set it the way you want, then click OK.
That should set the defaults for all programs using the printer.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500A Premium will not print docs from computer, but will print a test page.

HP Officejet Pro 8500A Premium will not print docs from computer, but will print a test page.  I continually get a message that the computer cannot communicate with the printer.   Not only will it not print docs, it will not print web pages using IE 11 or Google Chrome.
I've used Print and Scan Doctor, it always reports there are no issues and prints a test page even though I can't print anything else.
Each time I want to print, I must reboot the computer.  After reboot I have one chance to print.   This problem started February 15, 2015.
My operating system is Windows 8.1.   I have unintalled the HP software, rebooted, then reinstalled the software:
    OJ8500_A910_1315-1.exe
HP Print and Scan Doctor - HPPSdr.exe
    HPSupportSolutionsFramework-11.51.0049.msi
All versions were last downloaded on April 4, 2015.
I have a home wireless network (Ubee DDW366 router).  All other devices in the house will print to the 8500A printer without issues:  2 Toshiba laptops, 2 Android phones, and 1FireHD.
The desk top is installed with a Netgear Network card I don't know the model, but I had it tested by a PC Tech to confirm that the card is working.   The card and Windows 8.1 were installed on January 3, 2015.
I have run virus scans and malware scans.  Each time they show there are no issues with my desktop.  What kind of desktop? Specifically made to my specs from store parts. . . no brand name computer.  ASUS Motherboard P6X580 Premium.  Now I will probably get hacked!
I am at my wits end.  And it is frustrating when I need to make a print of something and the system locks up.  I often resort to screen printing to a word document to save in order to reboot. . . .but then I lose all sorts of capabilites when I salvage what I needed.  Also this is a time consumer.
This printer has served us well for two years and I have expensive cartridges waiting; another two rounds of refills.
    Help?
Addendum:  I can scan using HP Printer Assistance.  I open the HP Printer assistant, it "retrieves" info from the printer, then I select "scan a document or photo" and the printer responds.   I have no trouble with scanning.

  • HP Officejet 4500 Desktop All-in-One Printer - G510a and Windows 8.1

The drivers for this do not seem to work on Windows 8.1.  Whilst I can print no problem I cannot access the solution centre from my new laptop and i cannot scan.  It gives me the message No scan options refer to device documentation to troubleshoot.  It works fine on my old laptop which has Windows XP installed.
NB i have tried installing from your website and when i click on install it runs for a few seconds then sends the error message that it cannot find the file.
Does this mean that the HP Officejet 4500 Desktop All-in-One Printer - G510a is not fully compatible with Windows 8.1.  Help please I am getting very frustrated.

    Hi amp229,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I see that your are getting the specified file cannot be found error, during the installation.
    Please try the following:
1.) Check that IE pop-up blockers are turned off before downloading the installer. Internet Explorer Pop-up Blocker: frequently asked questions.
    Then try the install.
    2. If you're running McAfee Live Safe or any other firewall, please temporarily disable the "real time scanning". Turn off real-time scanning.
    Then try the install.
    3. Go to the start screen (you may also press the windows key + R to open the run box) and type %WINDIR% this should show the windows folder.
Click on the folder and scroll until you see files. Look for a filed named "HPWINS*.DAT" (the * is for a number that varies) remove this file and try the installation.
    Then try the install.
Hope this information helps, and have a great day!

  • Officejet 4500 Wireless All-in-One Printer - G510n & Win 7. Installing since October Last Year.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A665 Laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium OS.  Initially I installed the Printer software and Drivers from the product disc, connect via USB during setup as requested and the printer would work fine, until I shut it down at the end of the day.  The next day, I get the message that the "Drivers for Officejet 4500 Wireless All-in-One Printer - G510n are missing".  This all started last October and continues.   The Network diagnostic tool doesn't see the printer, but the Print & Scan Diagnostic tool identifies it, but then the program stops responding.
I have installed, uninstalled, reinstalled the drivers and software from both the product disc and from hp.com at least 10 times. I have installed the basic setup as well as the full installation. the only thing I can think of is when the printer goes into power saving mode, I lose my wireless connection.

It sounds like your printer IP address might be changing.   Have you run the HP print scan doctor?
hp.com/go/tools  --> HP Print and Scan Doctor
This tool will often find issues with printer driver installation.
I don't have a OfficeJet 4500 here, but if there is a wireless button you can push it, get the wireless menu, select IP address.   Does this match the IP Address you find when you select  "(Windows Start) --> All Programs --> HP --> HP OfficeJet 4500 --> Update IP Address" from Windows?
If they don't match, use the IP address from the printer and type it into the Update IP Address window.  This may help...

  • My HP officejet 6000 E609n wireless does not print on envelopes.

My HP officejet 6000 E609n wireless does not print on envelopes.  When I send an envelope address from the Microsoft Word envelope app, the envelope loads and then it  is send through the printer without printing on the envelope.  If instead of loading an envelope I load a plain sheet of 8x10.5 paper it will print the address as it should (side ways and on what would be an envelope).  I have had no problem printing envelope to my old DeskJet 930C with this Word envelope app.
I load the envelopes without the 8x10.5 paper and the paper guide moved over to the edge of the envelopes up which are against the right side of the load table as indicated on the tray guide.

After many frustrating and fruitless attempts to solve this problem, including updating the drivers and following so many bits of advice from so many sources including contacting HP customer services by phone and email (who have not, so far, shown the courtesy of acknowledging my enquiry), I seem to have overcome the problem by cutting a piece of A4 paper along its length to a width, which when added to the envelope’s height, equals the width of an A4 sheet. For example, I use DL envelopes which have a nominal width of 110mm so the width of the piece of paper cut from A4 (which is 210 mm wide) is 100 mm. This strip is then temporarily attached to the envelope by piece of low tack tape (such as masking tape) running along and joining the paper and the envelope tabs. I feed this assembly of strip and envelope into the printer in the default position, (i.e. the envelope on the right hand side of the tray, face down with the sealing tabs on the left). The printer seems to treat this assembly as a piece of A4 and prints the address etc on the envelope correctly. The envelope is then easily detached from the tape without damage and I have found that this works many times as sufficient tack remains on the tape. I know this sounds a little complicated but it soon becomes a simple task.
The HP Officejet 6000 printer has previously worked splendidly, printing envelopes from the Word 2007 envelopes function running on XP but has only recently malfunctioned since changing to Windows 7. For the record, I have also tried to print envelopes using the Word compatibility mode without success.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500A Plus will not print

My 2 month old printer will not print unless I open and close the print cartridge door. The printer screen says it is printing, but nothing happens. I have followed all of the steps on line, but nothing works. Anyone else have this problem?

Does your printer display "Printing..." on the control panel, but never prints?
I had such a problem. The only way I could get mine to print was to unplug the power cord and plug it back in.
I found the problem was an "expired" ink cartridge.  I replaced the cartridge with a new one and the problem went away.  Check your ink cartridge statuses by using the Control Panel functions.  If you see one that is expired (my panel displays a yellow exclamation mark on that cartridge's icon), try replacing it and see if the problem goes away.
My problem occurred whenever the printer went into "standby" mode.  I think when it wakes up it checks the cartridges and when the firmware finds an expired cartridge it locks up.  Just an educated guess.
Good luck!  And if this helps, please click the Kudos button for me.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus will not print from my MacAir

I have used my MacAir to print on my HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus for about 5 months without any problems.  All of a sudden my printer will not print.  The wireless icon says it's connected to the network.  But when I click print it says "looking for air printer" and then "printer not connected".  I've repeated the Wizard Set Up for the wireless connection.  I've turned the printer and computer on and off.  I've even tried printing from my iPhone but it will not find the printer anymore.  Please help!

    Hello @ladybonds ,
Thank you for taking the time to post on the HP Forums today! Hope you enjoy the experience.
You are saying that you have been printing fine from your computer for 5 months and now your printer says it is connected to the network and your computer says that it isn't.
Have you recently upgraded to Yosemite the new Apple OS? If not what OS X are you using?
Are you sure that the printer and your devices are on the same network?
Does the router give your printer an I.P address?

  • OS X 10.6.7 Canon All-in-One 480 Printer will not print files, only blank pages. Have to go to Utilities, Disk Utility  and Repair permissions for a temporary fix. How can I get a permanent fix?

After upgrading to OS X 10.6.7., my Canon All-in One MP 480 printer will not print. it says it is printing, but the sheet of paper just runs through the printer and comes out blank. I finally went online to just answers.com and got a fix involving the System preferences, printer and fax. i was told to go to Applications in the HD, thenUtilities, then Disk Utilities, highlight the HD and check on Verify Disk. If it says Disk is OK, click on Repair Permissions. At first, that worked, but the next time I went to print after turning the printer off, it refused to print and just ran the sheet of paper through blank. Once that happens, there is no way to go back to printing the file that failed. I fiinally had to copy and paste the info from the file that would not print and put it in an email to myself and then print that. This is very frustrating, and I would really like a final solution for the problem.

There's a lot there, so I'll start with the parts I can answer quickly.
The "ACL found but not expected..." messages can be safely ignored, so says this article
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306925
(look below all the "SUID" examples)
I had changed my Desktop image earlier but when the "Installing 1 item" window came up it changed back to the back ground that you first see on your desktop after installation.
Leopard installs updates a bit differently. If it's simply an application that does not change system files, it installs them like before, without having to restart. If the update is to the system, then you must immediately "restart," It then goes to that stars and purple screen to perform the installation. Before, it would do the installation while you still had control of the Mac and would prompt you to restart when it finished the installation. This change probably make things more secure and reliable, because you aren't allowed to do other things on the Mac while system updates are being installed.
Please post back with the remaining point of concern.

  • HP Printer will not print in black

I have a MacBook Air. A couple days ago, my HP OfficeJet 6500 Wireless completely stopped printing black ink. The print cartridge is full, and we even took it out, put it back in, ran the diagnostic tests, cleaned, etc. The printer DOES print text in color. Frustrated, we eventually switched the printer with another, my HP 3520. This printer has always worked fine with my MacBook Air. After we connected this one, we found that IT WILL NOT PRINT BLACK EITHER! Only color! So frustrating. What the heck is going on?!

    Hi @Lewis77,
I see that you are experiencing a issue with the black cartridge has stopped printing. I would like to help.
Try and print a hardware self test on the printer to find out if it is a hardware or software issue.
    Printing a Network Configuration Page.
If the hardware self test prints, then delete and add the printer driver back in again.
Click the Apple menu, and then click System Preferences.
Click Printers & Scanners, highlight the printer on the left column and click on the - sign to delete that driver.
Then click on the + sign, highlight the printer, make sure below where it says Use, it is selected on your printer name.
Then click on the Add button. (you might have to click the drop down beside Use to select the printer from the list)
    Try printing again.
If the hardware self test didn't print in black, please try the following steps in these documents to resolve this issue.

  • HP Photosmart 6510 e-All-in-One Printer Does Not Print Black Ink

I have run all the troubleshooting listed from HP and the "check" warrenty doesn't come up blank.  I would like to not have to purchase a new printer to fix this any help would be greatly appreciated:
    1) Rebooted Printer
    2) Installed new printer cartridge (2nd one) - really not happy about this as that represents almost $50 in HP ink
    3) Checked venting - Not the problem
    4) From Tools ran head cleaner - still only prints colors (or grey)
I've liked HP printers for a long time, but after reading the forums I'm really seeing an issue with the model I puchased.  I don't mind purchasing HP ink and my printer isn't a high volume use printer so I expect it to last beyond 1 year 1 day.
I have the SN and product number available if a tech needs.

    Hey there @hapy84
Thanks for posting on the HP Forums today!
I can see your getting errors with the Deskjet 2544.  I should be able to provide some assistance in locating a resolution!
Is the error message showing on the printer screen or coming up on the computer?
I suggest checking to see if the issue is coming from the printer or the software in the computer.  A good way to check the printer hardware is to run a stand alone photo copy.  I recommend doing a 5 page copy of a blank page to ensure the printer can feed more then 3 pages without displaying an error message.
Here is a link regarding Copy Text or Mixed Documents on the Deskjet 2544.  When performing the copy you do not have to put a document on the glass.  That way the printer will feed blank pages and you are not waisting ink.
If the hardware in the printer is OK then there is likely an issue with the HP software in the computer.  I would recommend uninstalling and re-installing at that point.  To uninstall HP software from the computer please follow the link regarding Uninstalling the Printer Software
To reinstall the HP software to the computer install the CD.  If the CD is unavailable or does not work for any reason please follow the link for HP Deskjet 2544 All-in-One Printer Drivers. This will link you to the HP drivers page so you can download your printer software.
