Officejet 6600 duplex option

I have an HP Officejet 6600 that i use in my office and i would like to do duplex printing.  I am wondering if there is an HP duplexer i can buy and if so what is the model number?  If not, does anyone know how to do double sided printing manually?

Hey @ildegardo ,
Thank you for taking the time to post on the HP Forums today! Hope you enjoy the experience.
I understand you are not getting scanner functionality from your HP Officejet 6600. You have used the CD given to you in the box to install it. It doesn't matter which way you try to scan, from you computer or from your printer, it just will not work.
Before I delve into the troubleshooting there are few things I would to clarify.
The software did successfully download? Correct?
Have you tried an uninstall and reinstall? If so did you use the drivers available online at hp.com?
Is the blue light on your HP Printer blinking or solid?
Do you have issues with any other devices on that network not being able to communicate?
Please answer ALL above questions, I look forward to getting this fixed for you.

  • HP Officejet 6600 won't print in black and white

So I have a HP Officejet 6600 which recently ran out of it's magenta cartridge. I knew I wouldn't be able to print in color, but when I went to the printer and set preferences to print black only it still tells me I need to replace the magenta cartridge before I can resume printing. This is extremely annoying because I start school monday and have syllabi and things I need to print out. Please don't tell me to order or go out and buy a magenta cartridge. I just need to know how to get this specific printer to work using only black ink when the color cartidges are depleted.

There are a few reasons color ink is used, even when printing black only:   Some ink is used to keep the nozzles from drying out.  When printing (even black only) the color printhead, attached to the same structure as the black printhead, is waving around in the air and the nozzles would clog if there were no servicing. When automatic duplex printing the front page typically has a thin underprint of color ink under the black to "set" the black ink.  It is not intuitive, but this causes the black ink to dry faster, reducing the chances of smearing the ink as the page is pulled back into the printer to print the back side.Graphics are typically printed with a mixture of color ink rather than black.  The color droplets are much smaller than the black droplets.  The composite black (made from colors) gives visibly better grayscale graphics results.  (For some drivers there is an option for printing in grayscale as "black ink only" or "High quality grayscale".) Printing in "Best" quality typically underprints balck with color to give a darker black. The pigmented black ink is not compatible with photo apper.  If photo paper is detected or selected in the driver the printer will mix color ink to make black.Depending on the driver the option for "black ink only" may not be available when color ink will be needed, for example in the duplex printing case. See the document here for information on how ink is used in the printing process.  In the language of that document the Officejet 6600 is an IIC printer. If you want a printer that can print with no color ink at all I would suggest something like a monochrome Laserjet, or an IPH printer such as the Deskjet 6980 or Officejet 8040a that would allow printing with the color cartridge removed compeltely.

    Hello @bk85,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you're getting the message 'Missing or Failed Printhead' on the front panel of your HP Officejet 6600 e-All-in-One Printer. I would like to offer my assistance today with resolving this error message. Now, you indicate in your post that you are getting this error message while using the Setup Cartridges in your printer. If your printer has never been used before you must use Setup Cartridges to initialise the Printhead system within your printer. However, if you have used the HP Officejet 6600 in the past with the Setup Cartridges, than you can use new cartridges without issue in your machine. In saying that, the Printhead message that you're getting refers to the part that the cartridges fit into. The Printhead 'reads' the cartridges and put ink on the page. If the Printhead is defective within your printer, new cartridges will not resolve this issue. Rather, a whole unit replacement may be needed as the Printhead is a non-replaceable part within your printer.
Can I please have you click here to access the troubleshooting step designed to resolve this error message. Should the error persist after performing the reset than a replacement printer would be needed. If you require a replacement I would strongly recommend contacting our Technical Support queue by phone to explore additional hardware options.
HP Technical Support can be reached at: 800-474-6836.

Please let me know if the reset resolves the Printhead error you're receiving. Good luck!

  • Officejet 6600 All But One Laptop Can Connect To Wireless Network Printer

One windows and 2 macs can connect to the wireless printer over the newtwork just fine  but one (Windows 7) will not. HP Print and Scan Doctor can discover the printer from that laptop as "visible"  but repeatedly says " need to install full software" which I've done, and after, it  runs install wizzard reports, the IP address I've entered is wrong, which it's not. Firewalls are off.  I've un and re installed, tried windows add device which can't connect either. I've had this problem before with this laptop but just can't remember how I fixed it. I remember getting to a screen that offered the option of installing over a nework or wireless directly to the printer and over the network fixed it, but I can't remember how I got there. Any ideas as I'm at wits end. Thanks

Welcome to the forums @Davidchicago ,
I read through your post about the installation troubles you are having with one of your Windows 7 computers and your Officejet 6600. I am here to let you know what my suggestion is for you!
There could be a program blocking the installation and causing the problem. I'd recommend a Clean Boot, restarting your PC, disabling your firewall and running through the installation again.
Hopefully that will get you through the install. Let me know the results!
    Have a great weekend

  • Officejet 6600 Locked with no network

My new officejet 6600 now show that almost everthing is locked and disabled, including the wireless network.  I have no way of connecting to the printer to unlock it.  When one clicks on any option I get a ' ..locked by your system administaor...". The wireless network has been disabled, so I cannot use the webserver admin page.

    Hey KenMcE,
What functions do you have access to on the front panel of the printer?
Are you able to access the Wireless menu in the Setup menu of the printer?
If so, then try scrolling to the bottom and select 'Restore Network Defaults.'
As well, it is possible that resetting the printer to a factory state may be able to restore unit functionality.  I will send the steps to perform this reset to you in a private message.  Please check your inbox.
Before performing these steps please check out Bob_Headrick's thread on printer resets.  The thread can be found here.

  • Officejet 6600 paper source

I recently installed the software for our HP Officejet 6600 and it has been printing fine.  However, when I go to print from word, and want to select a different paper source there is no option to do so.  What am I missing.  I want to print from the upper tray, not the lower paper tray.

Hello there! Welcome to the forums @mcorsiglia ,
I would be interested to know if you are able to print from other programs, and have the option to print from Tray 1 or Tray 2, or if the issue is only within MS Word.
Please let me know the above and also which operating system you are running and I will look into this for you!

  • Officejet 6600 and MacOSX 10.8.5

I have an officejet 6600 that has been printing off of my Mac OS OSX 10.8.5 for months now. I try to scan one thing and the printer says I have to enable my computer to accept scans by going into HP Utility. I do so, and when I hit scan, it says "Scan to Computer Cannot Be Enabled" and under it says "The HP software required for Scan to Computer could not be located on this computer. Please download and install the latest HP recommended software for your device from http://www.hp.com/support, and then try again." I do as I'm told. and download off the website the only downloadable option HP officejet full features software and Driver- Mac OSX 10.6, OSX 10.7, OSX 10.8.
    Yet, the same thing happens.

I am having the exact same issue. The software is already installed and I have attempted to reinstall it several times following the onscreen directions. The scan feature works great and then all of a sudden it stops working and can't be enabled. Is there a fix for this?

  • New HP Officejet 6600 won't scan to MacBook Air

I bought new HP 6600, downloaded all the drivers set it up and it worked perfectly - for one week.  I've now uninstalled and reinstalled drivers.  My MacBook Air sees the printer and I watch it scan and see the text on my computer screen, but not saved in folder or in my Finder window?
Thanks to anyone who can help.  My first time ever on this site.

Hello @dbvancouver   and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you are experiencing scan issues.  I would like to help.
I would suggest deleting the printer from your print system, using this document: Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once you have deleted it, I would suggest verifying and repairing the disk permissions: About Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions feature.
I would also suggest running your Apple updates:  OS X: Updating OS X and Mac App Store apps
After the updates, I would recommend reinstalling the HP Officejet 6600 e-All-in-One Printer - H711a/H711g Drivers.

    Hi,
The HP Solution Center is not a part of the software for the HP Officejet 6600, it is a part of your previous HP printer's software.
From the windows 8 screen type HP and open the HP Officejet 6600 software, the HP Printer Assistant which is the software for your current printer will launch.
