I have set this up to print.  The instructions told me to get a RJ11 connector piece so that it will go into my gateway.  Do I first have to set this up through the eithernet and then do it wirelessly?  My Ipad does print from it but, when I get to work and try to print to it, it tells me that it is busy.  I have Windows XP.
This is what is in the manuel:  A parallel splitter has one RJ-11 port on the front and two RJ-11 ports on
the back. Do not use a 2–line phone splitter, a serial splitter, or a parallel splitter which has two RJ-11 ports
on the front and a plug on the back.

This page explains how to set up your printer on a network.

  • Problems printing to HP officejet 6500A plus e-All-in-one printer e710n

    Hi,
I am struggling to print to my " HP officejet 6500A plus e-All-in-one printer e710n". According to the setup network test (Wireless network test report), everything is successful (status "PASS" for all fields).  I also checked that the IP configured is the same as the IP displayed on the printer when i push the wireless button (updated via "Update IP address").
I have a laptops as well as netbooks connected to the wireless network. All these devices could previously print, however now none of them can. When i run the diagnostics (both the standard trouble shooter, as well as the one from microsoft when clicking on the fixit option), no problems are detected. When checking the device manager, i can see no conflicts.
When i open the printer control panel and click on "Customize your printer" and then go to "Ports" and click on  the "configure port" option, i get an error "An error occurred during port configuration. Operation could not be completed (error 0x0000007b).".
    Please assist with any suggestions.

I was able to resolve the problem.
I reinstalled the printer on one of my other laptops (this might have cleared up an error on the printer). I think the true problem is related to the fact that we left the printer on, we've started switching it off when not in use. Even though it goes into sleep mode, it seems to cause problems over time if not switched off on the printer itself.
The basics i did was check the network connection, printed a status of the network connectivity (you can do that from your control panel on the printer). If the network looks good, then try leaving your printer off for an hour or so, if that doesn't work, try reinstalling the printer on your device and start switching it off after use. I know it sounds crazy, but that's what i've been doing and haven't had a problem since.
It was a strange problem, in some cases i wasn't able to see the printer from devices that previously could, when the devices that could see the printer tried to print, it would print okay for a few pages and then start printing garbage, followed by failing completely and cancelling the print. When this happened there would be an error on the device saying it cannot connect to the printer, even though it could at the start of print.

No Problem. Is everything working now or this tool only removed the HP software? If so, then try downloading the full feature software to see if this fails or not here. Please choose your correct operating system; Either 32 bit or 64 bit. I will be looking forward to hearing from you.

  • HP Officejet 6500A Plus e-All-in-One Printer - E710n wireless print and web app problem

We have an HP Officejet 6500A Plus e-all-in-one Printer - E710n and run Windows 7 on our laptop.
I have run the wirelss setup wizard and have successfully connected the printer to the router, and both the laptop and printer are on the same network and have identical SSID.
However, we can not send any prints the printer wirelessly. We have to hook it up to the USB to do so. We are also unable to access our web apps; pressing the app button on the printer control panel brings up the following:
"Connection error. The printer was unable to connect to the server. Check your internet connection and try again."
I have run through the suggested solutions under "A Network Connected Printer Cannot Access Print Apps, Web Services, or ePrint" in the customer care help centre which didn't work, although when I tried to enter the IP address under IPv4 into the browser address bar it timed out. I tried the HP Print and Scan Doctor, but it returns a result that suggests everything is fine.
I turned off the firewall and tried again with no luck.
I really am at a loss now. Diagnostics say it should work, but it doesn't. Help!

Disable Bitdefender altogeher and try again.

Yes. These days I prefer Brother printers. They appear to have engineered their printers with AirPrint as well as OS X compatibility from the start, unlike certain others who appear to have included it as an afterthought.
Brother's models are inexpensive, their ink is also inexpensive and lasts a long time, and their photo quality is at least as good as HP's. They have a two year warranty and lifetime free technical support with people who understand Apple.
Read the reviews (Amazon for instance, but be sure to read user reviews on the various manufacturer's websites as well) and decide for yourself.
If you require AirPrint compatibility, or if there is any possibility you may need it in the future, limit your search to printers that specifically indicate AirPrint compatibility.
Brother™ Monochrome Laser Printer and All-in-One models now support AirPrint.
Brother™ Color Inkjet All-in-One units now support AirPrint.
I have no affiliation with Brother but theirs was the first inkjet printer or "all-in-one" I have ever owned that simply works as well as the Macs I am accustomed to using. I positively detested every inkjet printer I ever had until I bought the Brother.

  • HP OfficeJet 6500A Plus e All in One Printer E710n-z

I have the HP OfficeJet 6500A Plus E710n-z series for All-In-One Printer.  I lost my driver software disk together with the PC computer that had the  software driver installed in it.
I now have the Printer and my current PC ( which is using Wins 7 Home Premium 64-bit Operating System).
I have found the download link for the driver software from HP website and from the internet. Each time I download the driver software, there was a "cancel" or "unable to proceed" message at the almost end of the download process. I was told to "retry".
My humble request is to have the driver software files so that I can install the driver and operate the printer. My PC is functioning as it can detect correctly the Printer with its correct name and model.
I donot know the problems. Is it a virus?
Alternatively, I greatly appreciate if you could email to me the driver software files.( Please use Google Cloud if the files are too big).
    Thank you for helping me.
    Best regards.

Since you have 10.10, you will first need to install this: HP Printer Drivers v3.0 for OS X. With that installed, follow the steps to add a printer here: Installing Your HP Printer Driver and Software for Mac OS X.

  • Paper jams when being faxed on my HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One Printer - N911g

When I go to send a fax, the paper goes in until about half way then the right side begins to wrinkle the paper and jams up.  I have tried several things to fix it but no luck.

Welcome to the forums HerkDia  ,
I have some suggestions for you to try for the problem you're having with your Officejet 8600 Plus jamming the paper when you fax.
    Check out these guides:
Printer Paper Tears, Wrinkles, or is Damaged while Printing from the All-in-One
A 'Paper Jam' Error Displays on the HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer Series
The Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) Does Not Pick Up Paper
Update the firmware: Getting the Latest Firmware and Product Updates
Ensure the printer is plugged in directly to the wall outlet, avoiding power bars and surge protectors. This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help greatly.
If the steps do not help any, I would lastly recommend calling HP to inquire about a replacement or trade in.

Touch the front panel and use the back arrow if needed to get to the home screen.  Next touch the four ink droplets at the top right of the screen, then touch "Print Report".    Items 12-14 will be the total pages, color pages and borderless pages printed.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One - terrible print & scan options

I just purchased an HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One an the print options look like they were written by someone from the 1990s.  There are no options for lower resolution - only draft, normal, best and no option for black and white - other than grayscale.  The print options box is the default box that was originally develped in the 1990s - no kidding.  I also tried scanning some items and the box to see the scan is about 5" x 5" and there is absolutely no way possible to see what was scanned.  I originally loaded the software using the disk provided witih the printer, but then I went on line and downloaded the "Full" version - which loaded exactly what was on the disk.  I can not believe HP is even selling this thing with these types of drivers.  I loaded the drivers onto my HP Desktop, running Windows 7 home, 64 bit and my HP laptop running Windows 7 Ultimate, 64 bit.  Both HP computers are Intel I7 Quad core computers w/ 9 & 12 Gb of RAM respectively.
What gives?  Do I need to return this thing because it certainly does not work properly and is not up to the HP standard we expect - especially for the $300 it costs to buy the thing.  I bought this all in one because HP refuses to update the drivers of my older HP scanner to support Windows 7.  That scanner showed the preview with a full screen, allowed me to change resolutions of scans, colors, etc.
Has anyone else experienced this type of garbage?

I agree the HP customer services and product services suck. I have an Officejet Pro 8500 and consistently had problems.
I think I'll change to a Cannon printer or another company. It is apparent that HP does not care.

  • HELP!!!! HP Officejet 6500A Plus e-All-in-One Printer - E710n - will not stay online

I have 2 desk tops a net book and a lap top connected to it and all test printed fine and then after a period of time the printer goes off line and then it will not work.  I can restart the printer and it still will not work.  The router does not even "see it" although it can ping it...???  I have reinstalled software and restored factory settings... I tried saving the IP that did not help.  It is brand new and I checked and it has the most recent firmware updates.  I have run network test reports and all is fine.  I tried an HP print diagnostic and it can't see the printer.  I got it to work temporarily after completing a router reboot, but now that is not working either.  I just bought this today and I have spent the last 5 hours researching and troubleshooting.  I am not overly tech savvy and I have exhausted my knowledge base and the info suggested on blogs and fix it sites.
I was replacing my hp all in one wired printer that the print head just went out on after only a little over a year.  I don't know if I need to return this printer or if there is a magic fix??? Please help!

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One printer - N911a - Cannot scan

    Hi Support,
I am getting very frustrated with my new printer. Now I have searched this forum and tried this and that, installed and uninstalled and run misc. HP tools, still I cannot use the "HP Scan" program from the PC and also not the "Scan to Computer" option from the printer.
I get an error message saying that "HP Officejet Pro 8600 was not found".
I am able to scan to a networkfolder - and printing is also possible.
I have activated every setting in the EWS admin module to be sure.
I have checked that these services are running (was mentioned in another support ticket):
     - Remote Procedure Call RPC .
     - DCOM Server Process Launcher
     - RPC Endpoint Mapper
     - Shell Hardware Detection
     - Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)
and they are - so that is not the problem.
When I run the "HPPIW.exe" (Printer Install Wizard) downloaded from support - it says that the full installation is there except the drivers.
    System info:
    HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One printer - N911a
    Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Product CD - holds driver version 24.2.0 ( which also is the latest version that I can download.)
Please someone help me, I was expecting to be able to use the product that I bought ;O)
    Thanks,

    Hi fogh,
Make sure that the firmware is the most current version, and then install the printer using the software from the link below. If you still have an issue I would suggest installing the printer on a different computer to help isolate the problem. Let me know what you find out?

  • HP Officejet Pro 6830 e-All-in-One series Scanning Paper Size problem

I only use A4 paper but it seems that when I use the paper feed to scan a document to the computer, the document scans in a default Letter Size, rather than A4, thereby missing some of the information at the bottom of the page.
I would like to alter the default on the printer to ALWAYS default to A4. Can this be done? I was using the scan option on the printer screen rather than from the computer, where I would have to manually change the paper size every time.
    Thank you

Welcome to the HP Community, @Splatt13 ,
I read your message about wanting your scans to default to A4 size, instead of Letter. I was playing around with the HP Scan software and saved the image below for you to see. Try opening up the software from your computer, and change the scanning options in there to whichever settings you want and that should help you scan as A4 size.
Side note: Ensure you have the Full Feature driver and software installed to access the software options: HP Officejet Pro 6830 e-All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Drivers

Thank you. In fact, I did speak to a very friendly and helpful representative at HP. Bottom line, I returned the printer to Staples, where I bought it, and they happily gave me a new printer in the box. After I set it up and use it for a few days and will report back IF I experience a similar issue. For now, I am VERY pleased with both HP and Staples.Thank you. [Smile]

    Hi,
I have a HP netbook DV7 with Windows 7. A Dell 15R 5520 (the last of the netbooks) with Windows 7 and a HP 6500A all in one printer. I would like to use the printer on both computer wirelessly without creating a homegroup. Is this possible? If so I would appreciate any help on the setup.

    Hi,
As long as printer is connected to a router and has a valid IP address, computers connected to the router will be able to access the printer even if there 2 or more computers connected to the router.
