hi
this will give you clear picture about Byte processing and Character processing.
in case of byte processing
DATA : test TYPE X LENGTH 16,       " here check length only 16
            test1 TYPE Xstring.
test = '000102030405060708090A0B0C0D0E0F'.  " but here passing string of 32
test1 = '00537'.
IF test byte-ca test1.
WRITE : test.
ENDIF.
In case of Char-String processing
DATA : test TYPE c LENGTH 32,       " here check length only 32
            test1 TYPE string.
test = '000102030405060708090A0B0C0D0E0F'.  " but here passing string of 32
test1 = '00537'.
IF test ca test1.
WRITE : test.
ENDIF.
may be this comparison is helpfull for you.

  • Converting string(which is an xml from the java side) to xml in flex

    Hi,
       I have an xml from the java side which i send as string over amf. I need to convert this to xmllist or xml and bind it to a tree. Could some one help me in doing this. My label field needs to be displayName
    this is my xml that comes as string to the flex side
    <Menu>
      <MenuItem>
        <id>1</id>
        <displayName>Add</displayName>
        <menuList>
          <MenuItem>
            <id>3</id>
            <displayName>Form1</displayName>
            <menuList/>
          </MenuItem>
          <MenuItem>
            <id>4</id>
            <displayName>Form2</displayName>
            <menuList/>
          </MenuItem>
        </menuList>
      </MenuItem>
      <MenuItem>
        <id>2</id>
        <displayName>Delete</displayName>
        <menuList>
          <MenuItem>
            <id>5</id>
            <displayName>Form1</displayName>
            <menuList/>
          </MenuItem>
          <MenuItem>
            <id>6</id>
            <displayName>Form2</displayName>
            <menuList/>
          </MenuItem>
        </menuList>
      </MenuItem>
    </Menu>

    Well, for Binding you will probably need to further convert to XMLListCollection or ArrayCollection.
    Not sure.
    However, that is the way to convert String to XML.

  • ALV Question : How to set filter condition which contain dummy character?

    Hi,
    I want to set filter condition of ALV dynamicly (In my code),
    for example, set 'X' as filter condition in column "Description",
    I add the code successfully, but I can't get the correct filtered result, Why?

    Please post ur code here.
    U have to get a  handle to the IF_SALV_WD_FILTER interface
    data ref_filter   type ref to IF_SALV_WD_FILTER  .
    ref_filter ?= m_config_model->IF_SALV_WD_FIELD_SETTINGS~GET_FIELD( 'FIELD DESCRIPTION' )
    ref_filter->CREATE_FILTER_RULE(
                       low_val = 'X'
    Now when u load the ALV tabl;e u should see a X value in the filter row, for the column 'FIELD DESCRIPTION'  and the filter should happen.
    As I said, pls paste ur code here.

  • Problem while uploading Japanese character to application server

    Hi Experts,
    I have a text file which contains Japanese character. when i try uploading the file directly to application server using tcode CG3Z the Japanese characters are getting replaced with some symbols. But when i read the text file using GUI_UPLOAD and then write it back to the application server japanese characters are getting displayed. what could be the issue here? how this can be resolved?
    warm regards,
    abdul hakim

    In case of CG3Z, internally there is a call to the FM 'C13Z_FILE_UPLOAD_ASCII' where you'll see this statement:
    * open dataset for writing
      OPEN DATASET i_file_appl FOR OUTPUT MESSAGE e_os_message
                   IN TEXT MODE ENCODING NON-UNICODE.
    Please note the ENCODING addition is set to NON-UNICODE. But in your custom code you must be using ENCODING DEFAULT which sets the encoding to UTF-8 format because of which the Japanese characters are represented correctly.
    Hope this helps.
    BR,
    Suhas

  • Japanese character appear rotated when applying a Formula on the field

    We have a problem where the japanese character appear well on the report when
    simply drag and drop a field that contained japanese data from the database
    BUT it display the japanese character rotated horizontally when we apply a simple
    formula on it. The formula don't change any style or rotation.
    I think it's a bug. Is anyone had this problem before?

    we are using BO XI release 1 SP4 and the application use these components.
    but I also created a small project with the Visual Studio 2008 with the latest crystal report 2008 embedded components and both return the same result.
    Japanese character appear well but (each character are rotated 90 degrees) on the field where a formula field is set and my formula don't do nothing except setting the field itself :
    Here is the formula:
    formula = {buyer_index_alphabetical_FR;1.alt1name}
    alt1name is a field that contain japanese
    and the field data appear well on the report but with each character rotated.
    if we map on a textfield, the field alt1name directly without this formula
    the text appear normally
    I didn't use formatting formulas
    that 's why my conclusion is that it's a bug.
    But I am surprised that nobodyelse mentioned that.

  • How to deploy the EJB which used Japanese word on Weblogic server

    Hi All,
    I am running a test on WIN 2K pro Japanese system. When I deploy an ejb bean with

    I am thinking that the weblogic cann’t pass ejb-jar.xml which is encoding as UTF-8

    Weblogic to solve the problem or to encode the ejb-jar.xml differently?
    Any suggestion will be welcome.

  • Sorting of Vector which contains String

    Hi,
    I have the following code which contains a vector. The vector has String elements. Now I want to know how to sort the elements in the Vector. I know that there is Collections.sort(). But I want to sort the elements needless it is uppercase or lowercase. The Collections Sort method will sort all uppercase strings first and then sort the lowercase ones. Here is the code which I`m doing: -
                          Vector v = new Vector();
                   v.add("three");
                   v.add("one");
                   v.add("two");
                   v.add("ABC");
                   v.add("abc");
                   v.add("AA2");
                   v.add("ZXY");
                   v.add("SuPer");
                   v.add("4XDR");
                   Collections.sort(v);
                   System.out.println(v);I want to get the output something like this:
    4XDR, AA2, ABC, abc,one,SuPer,three , two, ZXY

    write a comparator and implement the compateTo method for your objects, so you get the output you need by calling
    Collections.sort(List<T> list, Comparator<? super T> c)

  • Saving a file in a with a file name containing Japanese Characters

    Hi,
    I hope some genius out there comes up with the solution to this problem
    Here it is :
    I am trying to save some files using a java program from the command console , and the file name contains japanese characters. The file names are available to me as string values from an InputStream. When I try to write to a File Object containing the japanese characters , I get something like ?????.txt . I found out that I am able to save the files using the unicode value of the java characters.
    So I realize that the trick is to convert the streaming japanese characters , character by character into their respective unicode value and then Create A File Object with that name. The problem is -> I cant find any standard method to convert these characters into their unicode values. Does anyone have a better solution ? Remember , its not writing japanese characters to a file , but creating a file with japanese characters in the file name !!!!

    retrive a byte array out of the input Stream and store the values in String using the condtructor
    String(byte [] bytes, String enc)
    where encoding would be Shift_Jis for japanese I guess.
    Now to understand this concept basically all the Strings are unicode however when you are passing a byte array String has no means to know what is the encoding of the byte array, which is being used to instantiate the String value so if no encoding is specified it takes the System value which is mostly iso-8859-1. This leads to displaying ?
    However in case you know the encoding of the array specifying that in the constructor would be a real help.

  • Japanese character

    Hi All,
    Is there is any way to display the japanese character in the application.We have made a smart sync application which is working fine for English language but when we use the application for Japanese user for japanese data..the data is coming in garbage form like "•É“ìŽs–¯•a‰@ "  what settings needs to be done either in mobileengine config file or on to the server side to enable the support for unicode characters on to the client.
    The MI server configuration
    a) Operation system version – AIX
    b) OS 32 bit or 64 bit? – 64 bit
    c) Unicode or Non-Unicode – Unicode
    R/3 one SAP system configuration
    a) Operation system version – AIX
    b) OS 32 bit or 64 bit? – 64 bit
    c) Unicode or Non-Unicode – Non Unicode
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Devendra
        Have you used the Multi Language Feature made available with MI 2.5 SP18 or MI7.0 SPS09? Please refer to the note 1029594 for more information on this. If no, then request to you implemente this feature.  If yes, I feel the problem you are facing is directly related to you backend being a Non Unicode system and MI Server being a Unicode system. If you read the word document attached to the note mentioned, there is an indication referring to such a combination <i><b>In a Multi language scenario, if the backend is Unicode based then the middleware must also be Unicode based. The Unicode languages get converted to junk characters when they are transferred from the backend to the middleware. In such scenarios replication may fail or data may not get downloaded to the client</b></i>. Just FYI, Please refer to the replies in thread Re: Unicode to Japanese characters which might be useful to you.
    Best Regards
