Oh no C6-00 proved to be troublesome !!! : Nokia ...

When I take video using main camera, the video hangs for some time and then resumes. Then same thing happens again and again. The audio is continuous.
Please tell me immediate solution to this.

You are a genius !!!!!. I have re-formatted the card by inserting into SD adaptor and inserted in my laptop's card reader. Then formatted it using FAT32. It is working as for now.
It was formatted with FAT the previous time. One more question. Why is it not possible to format with exFAT file system eventhough there is option during formatting?. It said that it could not format using exFAT.

  • Canon G11 and Camera Raw...

    I'm running CR 5.6 on a MacBook Pro (Snow Leopard) and though this version is supposed to support the Canon G11, I'm finding it abysmal at any ISO higher than 200-400.  The amount of noise added between the preview (which I know is based on the JPEG) and opening it in CR is significant and the white balance goes nuts as well.  I've also tried the new DNG Converter and see the same thing.  Is anyone else having this issue?  I've also got the Canon S90 but haven't tried it out yet.  I'm also going to post something in the Lightroom forum as that's where, ultimately, I'd like to do most of my RAW processing.
    I'm attaching two images-- one is the jpeg from the canon g11 and the other is a jpeg exported from Photoshop CS4 without any processing to illustrate this.  The ISO was 500 on these shots.
    any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Having done still more playing, now with some more shots under artificial lighting, I'd have to say the colour in the Adobe Standard profile for the G11 is starting to look less good under tungsten light.  In sunlight/daylight the Adobe standard profile is really excellent, colorwise, but under tungsten lights the reds and browns can assume a day-glo quality that is quite alarming!
    The Canon profiles and the jpegs seem to handle tungsten much much better - to get a similar (more accurate) result on the Adobe standard profile I have to pull the red saturation right down and shift the red hue slightly towards orange in the calibration tab.  I'd need to get hold of a proper colour checker and shoot it under more controlled conditions under tungsten light with a proper white balance done to be sure, (as the lighting conditions for the concert shots I was playing with were suboptimal to put it mildly) but getting as good colour under tungsten light as the jpegs spit out is definitely proving a little troublesome with the 5.6 beta. I can work around it by switching to a different default setting for high ISO, using the Canon profiles where I'm likely to be shooting using tungsten, but it's getting to be more mucking about than I'd like for an upmarket point and shoot! It would be nice if the Adobe profile for the G11 was as effective as the one for my 20D, where it just works. No need to kludge with exposure adjustments or use a different profile for different light sources.

  • Acquiring from two IP cameras using IMAQdx

    Hello All, I have what I thought was a simple task but it is proving to be troublesome.
    I have two IP cameras I want to stream images from. I am doing no processing or saving of any kind, it is just so the operator can monitor equipment. I assumed it would be as simple as starting a grab acquisition on each camera and retrieving the images using the IMAQdx VIs, but when following that approach I frequently have timeouts or "unknown HTTP" errors on one of the cameras or, at best, they update unbelievably slooooooow. They are two Axis IP cameras and, when run alone, they provide extremely rapid refresh with almost no latency.
    I've tried alternatives such as reading them in a sequence, using snap acquisitions in parallel and in series, and countless others and the best I've been able to achieve is the method above with a hit-or-miss read and a 2-3 second update period. Has anyone done anything like this before? Code snippet attached.

    I was able to resolve the issue by setting the cameras to feed in smaller packets using their own configuration utilities. For anyone that may have an issue such as this, I was able to stream reliably by reducing my maximum camera bit rate. It turns out the default settings for these IP cameras is simply too high for simultaneous acquisition using IMAQdx 

  • ENVY 17-j053ea internal bluray drive upgarade

    I am looking at buying an ENVY 17-j053ea but cannot find it anywhere with a BluRay R/W drive only a DVD combo.
    Is it possible to upgrade this in the UK and where can I source a replacement drive from / part numbers / approximate price etc.

    Update for anyone else thinking about this.
    I went ahead and bought this laptop although it ended up actually being an ENVY 17-j103ea - no difference as far as I can see.
    Very hapy with it so far although struggling with the supplied Windows 8. [It is also a pain that you don't get installation media with things and rely on having to take a backup of the laptop when you first get it. I had problems doing this to a memory stick (info I found on the web seems to state that the device cannot be Windows 8 compatible for this to work and the one I had was (something to do with it not being recognzied as a removable drive) - how bizarre) so ended up backing up to DVDs. ]
    Not obvious in the shop but when removed from the machine and measured the DVD writer is of the 9.5mm height variety rather than 12.5 mm (the previous drives I had looked at were 12.5mm).
    Tracking down a 9.5mm BLU-RAY drive in the UK proved to be troublesome to say the least i.e. I couldn't.
    In the end I have purchased one off a well known auction site (E**y) from a supplier in China.

  • Where do we go from here?

    I have read with interest the information about Maemo and the N900. However, I have been left wondering where this leaves not just the N97 and its Symbian OS but the future of Symbian2 which has an upcoming release and is supposed to be available as an upgrade to users of the N97.
    The N900 has some similarities with the N97 so I was wondering if maybe Nokia will kill off Symbian after all. With this is mind, could Nokia instead make Maemo OS available on the N97?

    no nokia will not kill off symbian anytime soon at least. it will be just meant for a different range of phones. and it has a promise into the future so i would not quit on it just yet. now intro of maemo is a whole other story that brings about a whole new world of mobile possibilities and proving once again that nokia will continue to strive for market share with fresh, challenging new product and ideas. for one i am very excited about the direction nokia is taking thier development. hopefully it will continue

    I purchased this device being a fan of Nokia and love for the specification of the Nokia N8 and had used a lot of Nokia devices in the past and still have the older version of it the Nokia N82 which is still functioning good better than Nokia N8.
    This Nokia N8 was a very good device when I got it, looked good and great camera. I loved the device. But then I tried some functions on the phone and came to know that the phone is a complete mess and lots of trouble.
    Problems:
    1. The phone cannot stay connected to the internet via Bluetooth to give internet to my Computer. It connects to the internet for a while say 2 to 5 minutes after which the phone gets hung and restarts or freezes and I had to restart the phone to connect again and again the same issue. Sometimes it doesn’t restart instead it shows it is connected to both PC and Internet and I am not able to go online. So tried switching to 3g services with Airtel still the same issue and tried to change ISP like Docomo and Bsnl as per the troubleshooting provided by Nokia care and Help line.
    2.   Sometimes my phone forgets that it is on a network and tells my friends who try to call me that my phone is either switched off or out of coverage when I am right under the Airtel Tower when I come to know this and look at my phone it shows that it has full coverage and then it doesn’t let me to dial outbound or receive any call but at the same time I can connect to the internet. But to let the phone come back live I must restart it or it will never come back. So in day I have to restart the phone at least once to check if the phone is online or rejecting calls. This is very frustrating  since a phone that costs that much is never supposed to fall under this category. I am sure that a china phone that costs Rs 500 will be able to function better.
    3. When I am watching a movie or going through some songs on the phone restarts by itself and comes right back. This is very irritating when I am composing an email since all that I typed is lost. I sometimes feel like throwing the device but hold my calm thinking that the issue will be fixed by September when the Anna Update will happen.  
      I noticed all these problems in the month of April itself so walked to the Nokia care Silk Tele services Bangalore Marathahalli and informed them about the issues they asked me to format the phone and the memory and then try since they were sure it was just a software issue. I informed them that I was a software Engineer and had tried all the steps that clicked in my mind regarding the software issues. So they said that they will have to open the device to check for fault. I said that my device is not even a month old and I will not give it to them for opening it since I was sure that once the device is open it will never give me the same performance. So I said that I needed a replacement since the phone had some hardware damage and the phone was not even a month old. So to send me away they told me to wait until the Anna Software Update in the month of September. So since I didn’t get any fix from them I called up the Nokia Care Help line number: 30303838 and told them about the issue they walked me through a hell lot of troubleshooting for 40 minutes and I had to pay for the call and the number said that it was a toll free number but those fix they said erased my data on phone but nothing really helped and called them again and another 30 minutes to tell them what happened on the last call and again into some other troubleshooting that never had an end. I felt pity on the technicians that tried to helped me he was not understanding I am a better troubleshooter than him and I am calling him since I was sure that it was a hardware fault which I cannot fix myself I didn’t want to sue him for the useless troubleshooting that he did so planned to wait till the month of September since speaking to these guys were of no use and waste of time for me and them.
    Now During September I got the Anna Update and I formatted the device and including my memory card and built in memory. Started the all new way and was shocked to see that the phone was performing the same manner except that the look of the application and the camera. I did not put any of my data on the phone and walked to the Nokia care Silk Tele services Bangalore Marathahalli and told them that the Anna Update did not fix my issue. So they said that it could be again some software issue and said that they will need to open the handset otherwise. Didn’t know what to tell the customer care lady at desk asked for some manager. So asked me to wait and waited for hours and got a manager  and I told him my complete issue he had also the same thing to say to open my handset. So I told them that I will only give my handset on one condition. And my condition was open the handset only if it is required and I wanted the handset without any scratches on it the same way it was. Since I carried it in a pouch the time since I took it out of the box and had protective cover on display as well worth Rs1000. Instead of me pleading them to not open the handset and to have no scratches on it, they said that they even do it for new handsets that not even a day old to check for hardware damage. So they smiled and said that I can surely get it back the way it is.
    But after hours I got the handset back after almost wasting one whole day there. Then I almost cried to see my handset in a very bad condition with lots of visible scratches and the plastic case pulled out and bent and with engravings of the force applied and on top of that they told me that my phone didn’t have any hardware defect. I spoke the manager Kumar about the broken promise and the damage done on my handset he said it was a part of the service and that is not a problem, I told him that this was a very poor service done on the handset and want the body and the display case of my handset back with a new one. He said he can do nothing about it and I informed him that I would complain about the issue and he walked off saying that I can go ahead and complain and he can do nothing about it. I almost cried that day for giving my handset for its destruction and for its slaughter.
    As a last resort I called up Nokia Help line on 30303838. Told them about the issue and the present status of the phone and the problem still persists so they asked me to submit the phone to Silk Tele Services to send to Nokia. So I submitted the phone to Silk Tele services again on 7th and since did not hear anything from them after the due date that is 15th called them up and they said it was under quality control check and told me to collect it at Silk Tele services on 17th September 2011.Got the handset and found that the problems that I told still remains and on top of it they presented me with scratches on display and paint on the removed at parts that were very much visible. Showed manager Kumar the condition of the phone now and told that it is getting worse now he looked at it and said that Nokia guys just changed the top plastic cover and the IMEI number that was on the plastic cover was also scratched out. I look now like a handset that is handled very roughly and parts inside it jerking. I thought of walking to Police station for the damage but did not know Telengu to speak to them.
    So since I am out of hope and will have to buy a new some other handset anyway not a Nokia Brand any more. Walked into a local place shop to sell away the Nokia N8 for at least Rs15,000 the shopkeeper had a look at the handset and told me that I will not even get Rs5,000 for the device since it is open several times I told him that it is still under warranty till 16-04-2012 and I told him that if he wanted I will even pay Rs 1,412 to increase the warranty of the handset to 16-04-2013. He is still not willing to accept the device even after telling him that I will buy another Samsung Handset from him worth Rs 29,999.He told me son I understand the problem and I cannot take it for that price since nobody will buy a spoilt handset that is in this condition and the one without the IMEI label. Even I felt so and that is the reason why I writing to you. Please help me get justice for this. At least for the tax I pay and the rights of a customer. Question why Nokia is turning out to be selling fake products with no quality at all and poor service centers that spoil the handset and change it from good to worse.
    Ban Defective brand like Nokia N8 to Sell in India. Why make a fool of Indians by selling toys to them that is not capable of lasting even the Manufacture period. For people who are reading this please don’t buy expensive Nokia devices as you will have the same end and experience. Nokia was once good but no more. My old Nokia N82 is 100 times better than Nokia N8-00.Felt like having bought an Expensive snake that bites me and kills me. Bye Nokia forever.
    Sir Please help me with regards to this at least to get a replacement at least. If you need any finance to fight my case I don’t mind paying since I already had spend almost Rs 25,000 for the phone and its accessories. Please contact me by Email or phone if you can help me. If you can’t help me I will have to go after some other help so please do let me know.

    The Complaint has still not been processed and Nokia had asked me to mail this to [email protected] for fast solution.So i had send the mail as per their request.They called me and again asked me to repeat the complaint and asked me to submit the phone again to Nokia for repair so that they can give it to some useless illiterate fellow who doesn't even know how to hold the tools properly to play with someones money and destroy it more.I still value the device since I paid for it.Seriously the service desk technical fellows are too care less about their work and indirectly they are the one to be held responsible for this.
    I disagreed towards the repair again since i don't have any time to waste running back and forth when i know that Nokia can do no fix on my handset and their support representatives are not capable of fixing it.
    1.I am not willing for any compromise less than replacement with a complete fresh box piece one that doesn't have any problems that i mentioned.
     If it is still going to have the same issue then i don't need it.

    SUB Continuation of the Story.Submitting the N8 to Nokia Care for the 3rd time since they insisted on it
                    I at last planned to submit the handset to the Nokia Care for the 3rd and the last time since they insisted on submitting the handset to fix it.
    So what I did was before I held over the handset to the Nokia Care demonstrated the issues with the handset to the Manager at Nokia Care at Marathahalli, Silk Tele services.
    I had demonstrated:
    1.Bluetooth Connectivity issues that disconnects itself after 2 to 3 minutes of its use and the frequant restart of the phone.
    2.The damage on the handset when they took it from me for the past two repairs that indirectly spoilt it. Showed him the scratched out IMEI Label on the phone that clearly indicates that a repair was carried on the phone.
    3.I was not able to demonstrate the loss of network since it doesnot happen often and if he insisted I will have brought the handset to him some other day when it actually happened.
    I want all these issues fixed on the handset only then I will accept the handset since the above mentioned 1st  and 3rd issues was there on the phone from the time since I got the handset and seems to be like a manufacturing defect for the Nokia N8.
    But the 2nd was generated by the Nokia Care agent due to their careless handeling of the handset and useless service carried on the handset without trying to identify the fault in the handset or the model.
    So I want all these issues with the handset fixed or provide me with some other Model for exchange that doesnot have any manufacturing defect or a new Nokia N8 that doesnot have any defects like these.

    I had submitted my handset on 24th september 2011 at Nokia care for the last and final time since they assured me that they would fix the handset or do what ever is required and since I did not hear anything from them till now ie. Today the 27th of September 2011.I shall try calling them to just know if they have started to fix the issue or started to kill it more.Any way I am sure that the Rs 23,824.0 that I paid for that useless device is gone for a toss.Well I don’t plan to leave them alone if they don’t provide me a fix or a solution to the issue. I would sue them and also make my friends and as many people I can to boycot their products due to their poor quality and poor service.NEVER EVER BUY A NOKIA FOR MORE THAN Rs1000.     My issue is still not fixed and i would like to know your status is it fixed or not.
    I guess what we will have to do is file a case at consumer court since that is the only way out since Nokia seems to be teasing us and providing defective handsets like Nokia N8.
    I had proved and demonstrated to Nokia that even after fixing my handset for the second time it still really didn't fix the handset rather than spoil the handset.
    I am just waiting to get my handset back from Nokia so that i can walk into consumer court and have them deal the case on a higher level and take compensation from Nokia for taking the customers to such dissatisfaction by giving them fake promises and non functional handsets.

  • Proving prepared statements are being reused

    How can I prove that a prepared statement from a JDBC driver is being reused / pooled ?
    What essentially I want to do is to have prepared statements reused to reduce hard parsing ... but I also need to prove that the statements are being reused. If I query the statement in V$SQLAREA, the column PARSE_CALLS does not seem to be distinguish between hard parse and soft parse:

    I am only interested for now in proving the just ONE statement is being reused ... which mean that the number of hard parses is very low compared to the number of soft parses for that ONE statement.

    Hi,
    No, parse calls is all soft and hard parse together. What you would see, if used absolutely correctly, would be 1 hard parse per session and many executions.
    But since v$sql is obviously not linked to v$session other than at the time of exection, you see the aggregated parse calls and executions for each cursor. So what you should see is parse calls go up relatively slowly to the number of exections.
    However, you can see soft and hard parses using the v$sesstat and v$statname views so you can see soft and hard parses on a session by session basis, be these are again aggregated, so you can't see soft / hard counts per cursor, only the total for a session.
    What I see a lot of the time is they don't get it quite right, so hard parses is low but soft parses are high, so they are still parsing when they don't need to, but at least they are binding and using shareable SQL, which is a step in the right direction.
    When I say 'they', it is a generic reference to all Java/.Nyet programmers writing front end code where they just don't 'get' parsing and binding because it's just too complicated and hey, SQL Server isn't like this...!

    I had been a NOKIA Loyalist ever since it launched its first best seller 1100. And thereafter the journey passed through 2600, N70, N72, N73, N97, E5, E6, and Lumia 800 and stopped at Lumia 820 when I felt the strong urge of faster mailing service due to my official commitments.
    Meanwhile; to my Good Fortune (which unfortunately proved to be not-so-good) BlackBerry came out with BB10. Since you still are undisputed and uncrowned prince of flawless mailing system, I without giving second thought decided to Cross-the-Floor and join the Band Wagon of BlackBerry. Although I liked Z10 & Q10 in the first glance and after having a feel of them, the price-tag did not let me take the immediate plunge and hence I waited for Q5. And this proved to be the Biggest Mistake-Of-The-Recent-Times Of My Life.
    Because to keep the price low, you have drastically compromised with the quality as Q5 which is atleast 90% inferior to Q10.
    The major problems I have been facing with Q5 are:-
    1.    The OBSTINATE touch – One needs to literally RUB The Screen To Get It Unlocked
    2.    Cumbersome Configuring Process Of Mail – Although I have configured my mails on the same, it keeps throwing messages to reconfigure it time-n-again for no valid reasons.
    3.    Fragile SIM & MMC Compartment – The cover keeps opening on its own without applying any pressure or effort, which may lead to breakage – example of poor designing.
    4.    Drastically Slow – Inspite of having a Good Processor, the Video Streaming and Downloading is very very slow.
    5.    Silent Profile Is Too Silent – When the phone is kept on the Vibrate Only Mode it becomes almost dead as one cannot get to feel the vibration when in the pocket.   
    In a nutshell all I can see that You Have Reduced The ‘PIZZA’ To ‘CHAPATI’ In Order To Bring Down The Cost.
    I am not sure what to do now as I am in Catch 22 situation – I am into  BBian era but only as good as belonging to Barbarian Age.
    And before I forget - even after using it for over a fortnight, I am not able to configure BBM because every time it throws a message "TEMPORARY SERVER ERROR" (which in fact is PERPETUAL) . Extremely sorry state of affairs at my end - what to do?

    I need help proving the date tag on a photo stored in my iPhoto is from the date it was sent to my iphone/date it was imported into iphoto - and that it is NOT the date the photo was actually taken.   I recieved a photo via text on my iphone and then I synced my iphone to my macbook and now it is in iphoto.  I already know that the date on the photo per the tag that shows up on it in iphoto is NOT the date the photo was actually taken.  I need article or literature or something confirming the tag is from when it was sent to the iphone and/or when it was imported.  I greatly appreciate some assistance!

    All I am trying to do is find something on a forum board or article etc stating that the the date showing in iphoto could be the date it was imported or synced or sent to me and not the actual date taken.
    The date on the photo could be anything because you can edit the date with iPhoto or any of 100 apps, free and paid for. So, the date on the photo will prove nothing, I'm afraid.

    Send the table as an attachment, either a spreadsheet (if the recipient needs to be able to edit it) or a PDF.

  • Moving home proving to be a nigtmare!

    Hi,
    We are moving home over the Easter weekend. We have 2 BT accounts, one with phone and internet, and one with just a second line. We run a small business (mostly online) which is very new, hence still on the residential account. We also have a severely disabled person in our family, for whom being without the safety of a phone for an extended period of time really is not an option. There is no mobile reception where we are moving but thats fine if there is a fixed line.
    We attempted to place the request to get our lines transferred to the new address 3 weeks or so ago. I was assured I would get a call in a couple days to arrange a convenient time/date as I require a site visit.
    I heard nothing for a week and so called them directly. A kind and very helpful lady by the name of Sally informed me that they had come back with a date of the Tuesday after Easter Monday. This is hopeless, and so I asked if anything could be done. I can live without 2 lines for a few days, but I at lest need 1 for the broadband and phone.
    She explained that by seperating the order and cancelling one, she could request an earlier date for one appointment, as she could see they were available, but could not put in for one while my current order was live. I was informed I would hear back in a couple of days with a new date.
    Nothing.
    I called back, and have been unable to reach the lady on the number she gave me, and instead have been met with a wall of very rude and abrupt responses.
    he complaints procedure on the BT site is whollly circular too, so you have nowhere really to go. It says to call the number which you do. The number is the customer service number. The person on the line listens to your complaint, and then redirects you right back to the department about which you are complaining, who have already proved not greatly helpful...and so it goes on. The chap did offer to put in a complaint on my behalf, but would not tell me what it would say, and since it was him I was complaining about, I don't imagine it would have done much good!
    Anyway, then today, I get a call to tell me that my broadband and phone connection have been 'brought forward' to the 19/04/12. A full 9 days LATER than the original appointment!
    This is unbelievable, and frankly unacceptable. The only response you ever get is 'the engineers will not entertain a change'. What am I meant to do with that. I am now looking to cancel the movers, which I paid extra for over a holiday weekend, and the money fr which I will now lose. Maintain the rent on 2 properties for at least a further month. Re-arrange a move at my expense, and start the whole merry go round again.
    I mean really is a month not enough notice? I bet it would be if I were a new customer. And how is it that the power company prioritise people with disabilities, and yet BT do not?
    If there is anyone there who can actually affect change, please excuse the rant, and HELP!

    If you are running a business, then you will need to transfer to a business account, which also means you will get a higher priority service.
    As you seem to be having problems at the moment. Its possible one of the BT Care team can help sort this out, and also arrange for you to be transferred to a business account.

    Did anything download or are you getting this when trying to install?
    Try booting into the Safe Mode and do the installation there.

    I regret that I need to stop contributing to these forums. Logging in has gotten to be so troublesome that it's not even worth it. Just the fact that I am logged out each time I reboot (and under "Leopard", that is at least 3 times a day) makes it very time-consuming to post here. In addition, my browser's auto-form fill seems to have broken for this site forcing me to type login forms manually. As a disabled person, these obstacles are too much. I quit.
    I don't know why Apple makes it so difficult. I would like to help, but it's too much trouble. Fix the Leopard crashing problem and it would help.

    It's really weird, but it seems like since Leopard came out, there have been numerous instances of processes running amok and hogging the CPU. Often these are printer processes, but it can be anything. I've had it happen to me personally with both a printer process and with Software Update, and I have seen 2 or 3 threads where it happened with Firefox. It seems like the CPU hog can sometimes even persist through a reboot. I've had good luck opening Activity Monitor and finding and quitting the rogue process and then relaunching it. Usually it will work normally after that. If not, and one application keeps on doing this, then there might be a problem with that particular application that will need to be found and fixed.
    I sincerely hope that you will be able to solve the computer problems that are bedeviling you and will consider returning to the forums some day. I wish you well. You will certainly be missed!
