OHS Webtier 11.1.1.5 reverse proxy to OWA

Hi,
I am trying to create a reverse proxy to OWA (Microsoft Exchange) https but to no avail.
As you can see the code below:
<Location /owa>
ProxyPass https://10.6.145.64/owa
ProxyPassReverse https://10.6.145.64/owa
#Redirect / https://10.6.145.64/
</Location>
Redirect is working but Reverse proxy is not working. Are there any additionals code needed to make it works?
I am actually setting up SSO for OWA but I have no idea how to configure this part. :(
Please help.

"And what is it about the ip it's pointing to in the opmn log. "216.8.179.25,6700: BIND (Cannot assign requested address)"?
The IP 216.8.179.25 is probably some internal address that is found when it was unable to find the 127.0.0.1 loopback.
Could be this address is found through the virtualization platform (which usually installs some network adapters on the system) - if you are using virtualization, otherwise
you have to check with you network administrators, and see if they can make something the IP you were getting.
"But i am not sure as to why / how this has happenned."
We had the same problems (were using DHCP) - with 11.1.1.2 no problems. With a patch to 11.1.1.5 it broke down - I think it is a bug in OPMN (the 11.1.1.5 version).
But to be sure it is a bug, you better check with Oracle Support, maybe they can shed a light on this. There are no known issues mentioned in the 11.1.1.5 release notes

  • Reverse Proxy for OWA ActiveSync ?

    Hi there,
I'm looking for some solution to handle OWA publishing with some reverse proxy
function on the firewall. No Web Proxy on DMZ. No TMG and no directly NAT to the inside Exchange.
I have managed to do WebSSL with external portal and SSO on the ASA for Webmail access. ActiveSync (e.g. Ipad) isn't working through that kind of portal.
Any suggestions? Cut-Passthrough? Or who is facing the same issue, with TMG been discontinued? Fortigate and Sophos mentioned to handle reverse proxy.
    How about Cisco?
    Kind regards,
    Norbert
Sent from Cisco Technical Support iPhone App

Only by NAT/PAT to a reverse proxy (Citrix Netscaler) in the DMZ.
Several installation are done with fortigate.

  • Reverse Proxy and OWA

    Hi,
    Setup:
    3 CAS servers - Exchange 2010
    1 IIS ARR reverse proxy
    I followed these two
1 2 write-ups on how to setup Exchange 2010 OWA to use IIS ARR as a reverse proxy. The problem I'm having is
when all three servers are online in the server farm OWA doesn't work properly. You can log in fine, but it appears to not load fully and you can't click on anything (eg Calendar, emails, forward, reply, etc). If I were to take all the servers offline except
for one (doesn't matter which one), OWA functions normally.
Since some users also access OWA internally I have configured IIS on each CAS server to redirect to HTTPS and the OWA virtual directoy. I don't think this is causing the problem, but I thought I should mention it.
I followed the articles exactly. I'm not sure what could be causing the problem.
    Thanks

    Hi,
According to your description, there may be some problem on the configuration of your IIS ARR.
Thus, let’s troubleshoot ARR using Failed Request Tracing Rules to find the root cause.
For the detail steps, please refer to the following article:
    http://www.iis.net/learn/troubleshoot/using-failed-request-tracing/using-failed-request-tracing-rules-to-troubleshoot-application-request-routing-arr
And we can also check if the URL rewrite rules are working as expected:
For more steps, please refer to the partition named Verifying if the above rules are working as expected in the reference below:

  • OHS to Weblogic Reverse Proxy configuration Problem

    Hi,
Pls go through the following points and suggest.
    1. I have an Access Manager in place and I need to integrate it with Webcenter and Oracle Identity Manager.
    2. I have only one webserver in place which is reverse proxied for both the application servers(OIM as well as Webcenter) and only one webgate installed.
Can I achieve SSO with this architecture? My doubt is while specifying the challenge parameter in Access Manager, how can i specify it?

Thanks for the reply. Let me detail you regarding my configuration.
    1. One webserver configured as reverse proxy for two app serrvers(weblogic1 for webcenter and weblogic2 for Identity manager)
    2. My reverse proxy config in httpd.conf file are as follows
    ProxyPass /webcenter http://app1:8888/webcenter
    ProxyPassReverse /webcenter http://app1:8888/webcenter
    ProxyPass /xlWebApp http://app2:7001/xlWebApp
    ProxyPassReverse /xlWebApp http://app2:7001/xlWebApp
    3. Created two policy domains for /webcenter and /xlWebApp and Iam using form based authentication scheme.
    My Challenge parameters as follows:
form: /am_login/login.html (am_login.war is deployed on both app1 and app2)
    creds:userid password
    action:/dummy.cgi
Now the problem is whenever http://webserverhost:7777/webcenter is accessed,it should redirect to http://webserverhost:7777/am_login/login.html. But its not happening so reason being, after hitting the url it is not able to find the am_login.war in /webcenter on the appserver.Instead its deployed on the root "/" not inside "/webcenter".
Samething is happening for /xlWebApp too. Can you suggest some configuration which would make my things work?

  • Best practices to scale OHS (WebTier)

    Hello guys.
I am looking for some best practices to configure a WebTier/OHS installation in a big box (Oracle Sparc hardware).
What is the best approach: 1) uses just one instance of OHS and tuning its MPM Worker (MaxClients, ThreadsPerChild, etc) or; 2) run multiple OHS instances (components in Webtier context) in a same Box (each one listening to a specific IP/Port addr).
The webtier will be used as frontend (reverse proxy and load balancer) for a Weblogic cluster (backend).
    Regards.

What Luis said: set the project to 4k or smaller .... whatever is good enough for the output you require. Editing in 5k already requires you to upscale the 4k footage.
The RED Raw settings have nothing to do with the scaling. They are meant to dial in white balance, color, saturation and other parameters.
    Dennis Widmyer wrote:
So is this correct?  Even though I'm viewing my reel as a Proxy for Playback, is it okay that my Project Properites video size is still 5K?  Or should've that been changed to 1080p before I did any editing on this project?  Is the 5K project setting slowing me down?
Wether the 5k project is slowing you down depends on the specs of your hardware. Do you intend the output to be 1080? Then your scaling problems are over.

  • Reverse Proxy with Sun Web Server 7 update 4

    Hi All,
I've just migrating to Sun Java System Web Server 7.0U4 B12/02/2008 from Sun Java System Web Server 7.0-Technology-Preview-3 B09/13/2006. I've have the two web servers running side by side on separate machines. Both have a VS configured as a reverse proxy pointing to the same apache tomcat web server.
The Tech Preview 3 server works fine and has been doing since it was installed. However the Update 4 server doesn't. I can access the tomcat app via the U4 server in a browser, but not with the app on my mobile (sync ML). Snooping the traffic show me that the U4 server is sending a different response that the Tech Preview server. I'm thinking it may have to do with Transfer Encoding: chunked. I've looked around the web to see if I can turn this off in the U4 server, as I seem to recall having to do so at some point in my life, though I can't remember when and with what.
Does anybody have any clues they can throw at me?? Or anybody know what has change in the reverse proxy part of the web server from Tech Preview 3 to U4??
Both VS reverse proxies are congfigured exactly the same.
    Thanks,
    Stuart.

well, technology preview is what the name says .. i am surprised that u decided to stick with a technology preview release all these days.. in any case, there should not have any feature change between technology preview build and U4. but , there has been lot of bug fixes - so, unless we know the exact problem - we can't easily narrow down the change between tp3 build with U4 and find out how it is affecting u.
here is a related article on how to use chunked encoding within web server 7
    http://developers.sun.com/webtier/reference/techart/chunked_req.html
now, to help you more appropriately, you need to provide us with errors (probably with log level set to finest within server.xml) and let us know with the error reported by web server when it is unable to send those requests to back end tomcat
you can set log level to finest by running the following command
    /sun/webserver7/bin/wadm set-config-prop -user=admin --config=<hostname> log-level=finest
    /sun/webserver7/bin/wadm deploy-config --user=admin <hostname>
    http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-4842/set-config-prop-1?a=view
(once you have identified the problem, you might want to set log level to info as setting to finest will cause your logs to grow humongous and also hurt performance

  • Images, css not appearing properly after accessing the reverse proxy page.

    Usecase :
    1) OHS1 with mod_osso agent deployed.
    2) OHS1 configured as reverse proxy. It points to the webserver(OHS2) of the app1.
    OHS1(mod_osso agent installed)-->OHS2(app1 webserver)
    3) httpd.conf entry in OHS1:
    ProxyRequests Off
    <Proxy *>
    Order deny,allow
    Allow from all
    </Proxy>
    ProxyPass /test/ http://tkcltkcl.padma.xxx.com:8088/test/
    ProxyPassReverse /test/ http://tkcltkcl.padma.xxx.com:8088/test/
    4) The direct url for appl1 works as per expectation. The reverse proxy redirects from the OHS1 correctly to the app1 OHS webserver accessing the app1 url.But the contents in the redirected app1 url are not aligned properly.Images, css, placement of html links are not appearing properly on the page.
Do we need to do any other configuration in the revere proxy setup so as to avoid the misalignment on the redirected page?
    Thanks.

    Hi:
Thanks for the reply! I have been UTTERLY scrupulous about
    keeping precisely time-matched and points-in-my-process-matched
copies of the project folder for logical, "scientific" testing in
RH5 and RH7, on precisely matched content.
I have never even tried to open an RH7-processed copy of the
project in RH5 because I was warned strongly against this action.
It boils down to this; I cleaned up, FANATICALLY, all those
illegitmate filenames, ran the project again in 5, still got
impermissible missing images (and I mean MORALLY impermissible,
because I'm doing the right thing!)
Then, I took that project folder, copied it, and opened the
exact same ingredients, via the .xpj file, in RH7. Same missing
    images.
WAIT! Left out something important in first post! Dang; this
was important! I've fixed missing images, had them appear properly
upon compilation, then had others that HAD been right, come out
missing. Have also had reimported, re-placed images come out upon
compilation following repair, and then go missing again on third or
    later, subsequent compilations. Maddening.
Am EXTREMELY reluctant to delete CPD file, because the last
time I did that, I lost EXTENSIVE work I'd done on TOC and Index.
    Not cool at all.
Hope this wasn't too cranky; truly grateful for help. Just
    very frustrated.
    Thanks!

  • Reverse Proxy Configuration Help

    I am running OFM 11.1.1.6.
Web Cache is running on port 8888.
Portal's OHS (the WebCache origin server) is running on 7777.
Reports' OHS (for /reports/rwservlet) is running on 8890.
Non-Oracle Apache 2.2 is running as a reverse SSL proxy for Portal on port 443.
I want to configure this reverse proxy so that it appears to the end user that the reports server is also running in HTTPS on port 443, instead of on port 8890. Can anyone please give me a tip on how to set this up?
In my httpd.conf for my Apache reverse proxy server, I have this within my main SSL virtual host:
    ProxyPassReverse / http://hostname:8888/
    ProxyPreserveHost On
    RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^/(.*) http://hostname:8888/$1 [P]Do I need to add an additional virtual host for the proxy to the reports server? Or can I include it in this same virtual host? I've tried the following, but couldn't get it to work:
    ProxyPassReverse /reports/rwservlet/ http://hostname:8890/reports/rwservlet/
    ProxyPassReverse / http://hostname:8888/
    ProxyPreserveHost On
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteRule ^/reports/rwservlet/(.*) http://hostname:8890/reports/rwservlet/$1 [P]
    RewriteRule ^/(.*) http://hostname:8888/$1 [P]Any guidance is appreciated.

In case anyone finds this, this is how I got it all working:
In httpd.conf for the Apache reverse proxy:
    ProxyPreserveHost On
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteRule ^/reports/(.*) http://hostname:8890/reports/$1 [P]
    ProxyPassReverse /reports http://hostname:8890/reports
    RewriteRule ^/(.*) http://hostname:8888/$1 [P]
    ProxyPassReverse / http://hostname:8888/In the Portal OHS's httpd.conf:
    NameVirtualHost *:7777
    <VirtualHost *:7777>
         ServerName https://hostname
         RewriteEngine On
         RewriteOptions inherit
         UseCanonicalName On
         OssoConfigFile E:/ora11/product/portal_instance/config/OHS/ohs1/osso/osso_ssl.conf
         OssoIpCheck off
         OssoSecureCookies off
         OssoIdleTimeout off
    </VirtualHost>In the reports server's httpd.conf:
    NameVirtualHost *:8890
    <VirtualHost *:8890>
         ServerName https://hostname
         RewriteEngine On
         RewriteOptions inherit
         UseCanonicalName On
         OssoConfigFile E:/ora11/product/reports_instance/config/OHS/ohs1/osso.conf
         OssoIpCheck off
         OssoSecureCookies off
         OssoIdleTimeout off
</VirtualHost>You can use the same osso.conf for both reports and portal. Make sure to register with SSO specifying https://hostname as the registered URL.

  • 11g Fusion Middleware through reverse proxy..?

    Hi All,
We are using 11g Discoverer in our environment, our client is having a reverse proxy server .Now my question is..
How to configure 11g Discoverer to use existing reverse proxy server...?
please help with any documents ,links or suggestions...!!!!
    Thanks
    RB

Reports 11.1.1.3 doesn't work correctly behind reverse proxy:
Oracle Reports 11g gives the machine hostname instead of the proxy hostname in rwservlet/showjobs.
Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g 11.1.1.3 Forms & Reports on Solaris 10 64 bit.
    http://machinename:9002/reports/rwservket/getjobs
returns Job Name URLs such as
    http://machinename:9002/reports/rwservket/getjobid5?server=rep_wls_reports_machinename_asinst_1
    more asinst_1/config/OHS/ohs1/moduleconf/reports_ohs.conf
    #mod_weblogic related entry
    #<IfModule mod_weblogic.c>
    <Location /reports>
    SetHandler weblogic-handler
    WebLogicHost machinename
    WebLogicPort 9002
    </Location>
    #</IfModule>
    http://machinename/reports/rwservket/getjobs
returns Job Name URLs such as
    http://machinename/reports/rwservket/getjobid5?server=rep_wls_reports_machinename_asinst_1
Now I place machinename behind a proxy server proxyname.
    http://proxyname/reports/rwservket/getjobs
returns Job Name URLs such as
    http://machinename/reports/rwservket/getjobid5?server=rep_wls_reports_machinename_asinst_1
    instead of the correct URL
    http://proxyname/reports/rwservket/getjobid5?server=rep_wls_reports_machinename_asinst_1
The above is only one problem, there are many others that I have found.

  • Non-Oracle Apache as Front-end/reverse proxy?

    Hi,
The question I have is kind of OID-related, but I think is more relevant to OAS, so I hope that I'm posting this in the right forum.
We have an existing OID instance, using the Apache 1.3-based OHS, and up till now, users have been accessing the OID/OIDDAS web-interface directly, e.g., by going to http:<hostname>:7777/oiddas, then signing in.
We also have a (non-Oracle OHS) enterprise-wide Apache 2.x-based reverse-proxy, and they want to be able to reverse-proxy through this Apache 2.x to the OID web interface.
We tried adding the <Location> sections to the Apache 2.x reverse proxy, e.g.:
    <Location /oiddas>
    ProxyPass http://<hostname>:7777/oiddas
    ProxyPassReverse http://<hostname>:7777/oiddas
    </Location>
    <Location /pls>
    ProxyPass http://<hostname>:7777/pls
    ProxyPassReverse http://<hostname>:7777/pls
    </Location>
Then, when we go to http://<apache-2.0-reverse-proxy-hostname>/oiddas, we get the initial page with the "Login" link. But, when we click on the "Login" link, we are getting a "Forbidden" error (HTTP 403 error).
Has anyone configured something like this before? What else do we need to configure in the Apache 2.x reverse-proxy?
    Thanks,
    Jim

    Hi,
I just stood up a new test instance of 10gAS (only one I had the install files for), and I can access the oiddas via port 7777, i.e., http://<hostname>:7777/oiddas.
I setup a reverse-proxy to it on a separate Apache 2.x instance, and it looks like at least part of the problem is that when I access via the proxy, the 10gAS sends back redirects (HTTP 302) responses with Location headers with the original <10gAS_hostname>:7777.
In other words, I do the original access using http:<proxy_hostname>/oiddas, but then when I click the "Login" link, the 10gAS redirects my browser to http://<10gAS_hostname>:7777/pls/orasso (to go to the SSO server).
This doesn't explain why were were seeing the 403 errors at work, but I think that, as suggested in that webpage that I linked earlier, there are re-directs that may not be totally visible going on, i.e., you can't "just" setup the Apache reverse-proxy with the <Location> directives.
Thus far, I haven't been able to replicate the 403 error problem that we had...

If this helps anyone, I was able to set up a reverse proxy to APEX with Apache running on the reverse proxy server and Oracle HTTP server and APEX 3.2 on the APEX hosting server. I want to post this due to there is no
documentation on this that I can find. Oracle Metalink could not produce any "How To" document either.
On the reverse proxy server in the httpd.conf file:
    ProxyRequests Off

  • OAM- Apache Reverse Proxy issue when Form Authenticaion is used

    Hi All,
Customer is using Apache 2.0.65 as a reverse proxy server. OAM has been integrated with OAS. A WebGate has been installed on OHS in infra.
When a protected resource (portal) is accessed, a login form appears. After entering the correct credentials, it does not go to the resource, instead gives displays some Header Variables on the Browser, instead of actual resource.
This happens only when a resource is protected with Form Authentication Scheme and while using with reverse proxy. The same Form Authentication scheme works without reverse proxy. With Basic LDAP Authentication, the same resource perfectly works even when reverse proxy is used.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.

    Amol

    Hi Amol,
Check the passthrough parameter in your form scheme. If this is set to yes, what you are asking OAM to do is to pass through to the form action instead of the URL the user originally requested. I know this still does not explain why things work when the reverse proxy is not used - but it might make sense if you actually have 2 form schemes and when you access the resource via the reverse proxy, the policy domain/policy in question actually invokes the scheme which has passthrough enabled. You could ascertain this via the access tester by trying the reverse-proxied URL and direct URL.

  • Doubts regarding reverse proxy in DMZ

    Hi,
We are going to implement DMZ in a test environment following the metalink note:287176.1.
We have two sun servers so we have chosen Section 2.2(Fig 4) of 287176.1 as our deployment architecture.
The steps we are going to follow are:
1.Install Oracle Applications 11.5.10.2 in internal server.
2.Clone the application to external server.
    3.Open the following ports:
80,443 in the external firewall and 1521 in the data firewall.
    4.Follow steps from section 5.1,5.2,5.3,5.4 of 287176.1.
5.Configure the URL firewal specific to the product that we want to expose for external use.
Can someone please validate the above steps.
Also please clarify the following doubts:
1.Do we need a seperate external URL and domain to access the application from internet??
If yes then this domain and URL mapping is done in which configuration file??
2.Do we need to set up a reverse proxy server also for this architecture? If yes then is it necessary to deploy another reverse proxy server in front of external web server?
Cant we configure the external web tier itself as reverse proxy??
If yes then, how do we do it using 9iAS shipped with EBS...as we dont want to use standalone Apache for this and the document 287176.1 describes the steps to use a standalone Apache in section.(.Appendix D)..
    Please help...
We have been given a time frame and limited resources to implement this POC.So a response is highly appreciated..
    Thanks
    ex:External URL:

We have two sun servers so we have chosen Section 2.2(Fig 4) of 287176.1 as our deployment architecture. If you chose the above configuration there is no reverse proxy setup.
1.Do we need a seperate external URL and domain to access the application >>from internet?? If yes then this domain and URL mapping is done in which >>configuration file??The changes are done on the external web tier in the application context file. (s_webentryhost - set to DMZ host name
s_webentrydomain - domain name of DMZ host
s_active_webport - port where the host will listen to requests
s_webentyurlprotocol - http or https according to your configuration
    s_login_page - http(s)://webentypoint:webentrydomain:activewebport )
2.Do we need to set up a reverse proxy server also for this architecture?Again section 2.2 does not require a reverse proxy only external webhost
Please remember that the external host in DMZ runs only webtier. All the other services should be disabled.
If yes then, how do we do it using 9iAS shipped with EBSClone the AppsTier to external host. Edit the context file and disable all the processes except
    <oa_process_status oa_var="s_apcstatus">enabled</oa_process_status>
Then you have a webtier running without standalone Apache.
I have recently finished configuring this setup.
