OKEVN Version Maintanance

Hi all,
I have tried to remove an empty entry from the version on level of the Controlling Area. Now the error message is:
"Background job still running - data can be displayed only" and no version maintanance is possible.
We are on release 4.7 and the help messages is saying that:
"On the selection screen, enter the "=KILL" command in the OK code field".
The selection screen is only asking for the Controlling Area and I cannot find the OK code field.
Where and in which transaction can I find the command field where I have to enter the KILL command to stop the job.

it is working if you have the appropriate authorisation!!!
Unfortunately, the system is not responding, that somne authorisation is missing and therefore SU53 also doesnt help you out.
A colleague with extended authorisation from Basis support was able to kill the job.

Documentation of Portal Implementation - Experiences Required!

Dear EP Experts & NW Gurus,
I would like to know:
1)Any amount of portal implementation includes creation of Portal objects and PAR files, systems etc etc..
Moving these portal objects from one env to other some times involves changing few properties..Here i would like to know as to how are the EP developers documenting the Portal Developement?
2) How are the diff companies & consultants following the process of Design, Specs, TestCases & implementation?
Since there are so many properties involved for portal objects, these properties need to be documented so that if some problem happens in prod system then the docs can be consulted to find out whether the properties are correct or not?
3) How does SAP themselves do the documentation of their releases?Is there some tools that they have created which queries some kind of databases & which just dumps the properties etc into some excel format...?
Why i am asking this is bcos (in our case) after such a large implementation (hundreds of portal objects & tons of config..), the docs which we created have become so heavey and big it sometimes becomes diff to manage the docs manually. & then when we have team scenario,(where many ppl work & new ppl come & join..)these docs maintainance is painfull.
4) Most of the time after implementaion, where the support starts and when old iView keeps on changing as per new req, <b>is there any Standard way by which we can maintain the versions of Portal objects and config..??</b>
Please remember that i am talking abt all the phases of Soft Dev (High level Design, Specs, TestCases)..
I would like to discuss what kind of documennation does SAP & others do for portal implementations..

I also think that the documentation should never become a burden..but a boon..
- Can you explain in detail about the first point (writing script)..are u saying that by some means i traverse the PCD and pickup the portal objects etc..
- We are on NW and have also configuared JDI recently. But how to use JDI for such kind of requirement.
Also as i asked, do u have any knowledge about Version Maintanance of Portal Objects?
The reason why i am again asking this is because what has happened recently is that since many ppl work on same objects and later on if an administrator wants to debug that who has changed what property -> it becomes diff to find out. even if i find that who has changed by "Changed by" but out of soo many propertes of any iView, which one was changed????

Windows Server 2008 R2 - Restore Previous Versions - Restored File Filled with Nulls

ISSUE:
The Restore Previous versions feature on my file server stopped working some time in the recent past. If I look at the Previous Version for a file or folder the items are listed and they show a valid file size. However, when I restore a previous
version of a file it is completely filled with nulls. I have tried local restores on the server and remote restores. The results are the same; I get a file that is the correct size but completely filled with nulls. The Server is Windows 2008
R2 64. I have searched for any reports of similar issues to no avail. I'm looking for any ideas on how to resolve the issue preferably while maintaning archived files.

I bumped into a problem during confirmation in CO15. (I would like to get the SFG by mvt 101 and consume the raw material by 261).
The error messase I get is:
Maintain the exchange rate type for version 000 in 2009
Message no. GP541
Diagnosis
You want to use plan version 000 with controlling area 1000 in fiscal year 2009.
You have not specified an exchange rate type for this plan version for fiscal year 2009. Since the update of all currencies in 2009 is active in the control indicators of the controlling area, currency conversions are possible and sometimes also needed.
It is therefore necessary to specify an exchange rate type for plan version 000 in year 2009.
System Response
The system will not accept your entry.
Procedure
1. Please maintain plan version 000 first using the function 'Change Plan Version', or
2. correct your typing error.

go to Maintain Version at SPRO-Controlling-General Controlling-Organization->Maintan Version and do what ever it says. Provide Exchange rate type P or M would resolve your issue

ABAP Development in multiple SAP versions

Greetings-
I was wondering if there were people out there who had the need to maintain ABAP code in multiple versions of SAP simultaneously. If so, what is your approach to do this efficiently?
Further explanation: My company is a software company that develops software to integrate with SAP. As such our customers use different versions of SAP ranging from 4.6C to ECC 6.0. Currently we are maintaining four different code bases to accomodate the differences in syntax and underlying architecture. I was wondering if anyone knew of any code management software, or if they had any creative business processes that they would be willing to share to make this as efficient a process as possible.

I am working in a sap upgrade for version 4.6C y ECC 6.0 ( Company REPSOL YPF ,one of the biggest petroleum enterprises)
The upgrade is not difficult at all. The worst task is control the modifications out of standard..
I am maintaning two versions and works twice. I think that it's not a good option to do it. It requires much control and the different version don't works equal.
The mechanism for making the upgrade easier its managing the transports order correctly.First the standard modifications ,UNICODE and then correct the funcionality . At last making the improvements in the last version only. You must synchronize both systems.
I don't know some tools to manage this but i haven't need it .I coordinate my development team perfectly

Please add your EP system in solution manager SLD in smsy tcode. add your server in logical components and as well as other locations in smsy. Make sure that your user and S# exists in tcode aisuser.

Relation between Version and Release Strategy at Purchase Order level

Our requirement is as follows:-
Case: "Document Type" + "Purchase Group"+ "Price-A" ==== Release Strategy "XX" , and it got release by approving authority "YY"
now, if i edit the vallue of above case to "Price-B", in such a case a new release strategy should trigger and it should go to approving authority "ZZ" in all the cases
Price-A can be equal to Price- B, Less than or greated than.
I come to know that, to acheive this we need to activate the version management, MM>>Purchassing>>Verion managemet>>for external document ( Here i have maintaned the veriosn for "F", and "Dcoument type" for "Purchase Org"
Now the issue is when i created the version with REVNO and CEKKO table, and when i maintain the version for the release strategy , system dont show the tab of release strategy in PO screen, means release strategy is not getting applied on the PO,
and when i delete the version condition, we can see the release strategy tab in the PO.

multiple row select and what you are looking for is not implemented in J.
If you want to know what's interesting for you and if you have some missing
issues, call your technical support and they will answer all your questions
and/or let you send the newest updates if they are necessary for your project.
Official Updates are sent automatically if you have an Maintanance contract.
If you want to know what's done in a newer Release before, you may also look
at www.forte.com in the support section.

I am creating new version in Controlling (tried copying from existing Versions too), and getting the given below error message. We are working on SAP R/3 4.7.
Valuation in controlling area xxxx is inconsistent -> please check
Message no. KT340
Diagnosis
The result from checking the versions for controlling area xxxx is that you want to work with multiple valuations. However, the corresponding version settings are inconsistent.
System Response
The function is not performed.
Procedure
Navigate to the version settings in controlling area xxxx, choose Check valuation and correct your settings.

Looks like more than one actual version is maintained for Controlling Area using multple valuation approach.
You can check inconstency through Transaction OKevn.

Cost Center Plan - versions

Hi
The standard SAP is given three version for maintanance of the cost center planning Version 0, 1 and 2. Our client is having the planning reviews on quarterly basis. hence he need total 5 versions.
0 version he wants to use the planning for the financial year at the time of the budget
1 version is required for 1st quarter approvals
2 version is required for 2nd quarter approvals
New versions are required for 3rd & 4th quarter approvals
Kindly suggest, does it possible to create teh new plan versions where we can maintain the plan through KP06

New Applescript version breaks old code

Hi there,
First off, I'm not an Applescripter, but I have one script I wrote a few years back (with help from kind people on the net) to generate and save tiny applications which, when called from within an Adobe Flash executable, would open the required file using the Mac OS native application associated with them (i.e a doc file wouldbe opened by Word if installed, TextEdit if not...)
It used to run fine on my old Powerbook G4 on an old version of AppleScript, but times change and, one whizzy Intel processor later, I'm trying to get the same script running on OS 10.8 with AppleScipt 2.5.1, with varied results.
Basically, what the script should do is read a comma delimited file in the same folder as the script, called 'fileNames.csv' which contains the names of all the files that I want the tiny apps to open. Each item will then have its own file created by the AppleScript, named after each item, which get saved in an pre-existing folder in the same directory as the script and fileNames.csv file, called 'fscommand'.
The example of the fileNames.csv file I'm having issues with:
yr2_unit_1_tn.doc,yr2_unit_2_tn.doc,yr2_unit_3_tn.doc ... etc up until yr2_unit_20_tn.doc
The script always used to work fine, but the new version of AppleScript seems to have broken it. When I run it now, it creates all the .app files up until 'yr2_unit_11_tn.doc.app' but then stalls in 'Running...' mode in the AppleScipts editor, and refuses to save apps for the final nine files in the .csv file.
It still runs ok from an older AppleScript editor (2.2.1) but this only saves PowerPC applications, which won't run on Intel Macs. And this would be me running away from the problem, rather than attempting to solve it ;-)
I'm thinking it's a filename issue, as it always seems to break when attempting to save "yr2_unit_11_tn.doc.app" when "yr2_unit_1_tn.doc.app" already exists in the 'fscommand' folder. If I create a new 'fileNames.csv' file which only contains ten entries from 'yr2_unit_11_tn.doc' to 'yr2_unit_20_tn.doc', and run the script to an empty 'fscommand' folder, it processes all the files fine. It just won't do all twenty entries from 1 to 20.
Here's the script. I know I'm doing something really stupid here, but as a rock bottom novice AppleScripter, I can't see the error, or why it would work in one version of AppleScript and not another.
