Old Contents Not Cleaned Up

Hi All,
I'm pretty new to JavaFX, and I'm currently working on a prototype that will hopefully open up some eyes around my work as there seems to be very distinct camps between Flex and GWT here. I'm hoping that I might change a few minds to JavaFX.
I'm having a slight problem though. Within my application I have a SwingComboBox that dynamically changes the contents of a VBox depending on which item is selected in the combo box. The nodes that are swapped in and out of the VBox are custom nodes I created that are basically Tile objects which contain a bunch of text fields to fill out. The problem occurs when one of the Tile objects is wider than the others. The wider Tile object is not completely erased when a smaller one is switched out for it. The following code is a sample application I wrote that demonstrates my problem. Change the value of the combo box a few times and it looks like labels 2 and 3 are written on top of label 1. Any thoughts on how to make it stop doing this? I know it's probably something simple, but I've been scratching my head (as well as other things) for quite a while now concerning this.
Thanks
import javafx.stage.Stage;
import javafx.scene.Scene;
import javafx.ext.swing.SwingComboBox;
import javafx.ext.swing.SwingComboBoxItem;
import javafx.scene.layout.VBox;
import javafx.scene.control.Label;
import javafx.scene.Node;
import javafx.scene.layout.LayoutInfo;
def itemNames : String[] = ["Item 1", "Item 2", "Item 3"];
var label1 = Label
    text: "Label 1: This is a very long string compared to the rest"
var label2 = Label
    text: "Label 2: Short string"
var label3 = Label
    text: "Label 3: Short string"
var labels: Node[] = [];
insert label1 into labels;
insert label2 into labels;
insert label3 into labels;
var testCombo = SwingComboBox
   selectedIndex: 0
   items: for (itemName in itemNames)
             SwingComboBoxItem
                text: itemName
var testBox: VBox = VBox
   layoutInfo: LayoutInfo {height: 300}
   content: bind
      testCombo,
      labels[testCombo.selectedIndex]
}

Interesting. I would have never thought of that solution. Do you have a good way of triggering the resizing using data binding?
I found another way of "solving" the problem. If you place a transparent rectangle after the combo box whose width when added to the width of the combo box when a short item is selected is slightly wider than the combo box when the longest item is selected. For example, I added the following to the test program I listed earlier:
var rect: Rectangle = Rectangle
   width: 400
   height: 300
   fill: Color.TRANSPARENT
var testBox: VBox = VBox
   layoutInfo: LayoutInfo {height: 300}
   content: bind
      testCombo,
      labels[testCombo.selectedIndex],
      rect
}And everything works.
Thanks so much for your suggestion.

    Wiped our old iPad 1 clean, now can't install iOS from iTunes using laptop PC (W Vista).  iTunes does not "see" the device.  Tried uninstalling and installing iTunes on laptop.  Also bought new USB cable.  The iPad is charging, but that's all it does.  Just want to get it operating again for browsing and e-reading.

    OK.  You merely erased the content and settings.  The IOS is still there.
    If it has NEVER been jailbroke, here are some standard repair procedures.  From what you've already stated, my guess is that you'll end up with Recovery Mode described in the last paragraph.
    First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
    Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
    If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
    At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
    If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again.  Also, read this.

  • Cosmo 3 not recognizing microSD card old content

    I have a question/problem similar to one previously posted here but slightly different.
    I upgraded from LG Cosmo 2 to LG Cosmo 3. The microSD card I was using in the Cosmo 2 had pics and ringtones on it. When I insert the card in the Cosmo 3 it does not recognize any content on the card. If I connect the phone to my laptop in USB mode I can see all the pics and ringtones on the card, which is in the phone. I tried moving the card content to the phone memory but it still did not recognize the files. If I move a new pic from the phone memory to the card, the phone recognizes that. How do I get the phone to recognize the old content on the card? Thanks.

    Different phones (even updated models from the same manufacturer, like the Cosmos 2 to the Cosmos 3) use different formatting; copy the data to your computer, then format the card in the phone (erasing all the data), then copy the files back to the appropriate folders on the newly formatted card.  The phone should then be able to find the files on the correctly formatted card.

    It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.
    Use your backup copy to put everything back.
    The music sync is one - way - computer to ipod.  The only exception is itunes purchases.

    Do you have the OS 10.6 disk? You can run Disk Utility from that disk and format and partition the new drive.
    If you don't have the disk you can buy it from Apple for $20.00

    This sounds like an indexing problem.  Force a reindexing by deleting the Envelope Index. With IMAP or Exchange account, forcing reindexing requires removing the account folder. See:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mail/4.0/en/14019.html
    Ask any questions needed to get comfortable with doing this.  Do you have any third party plugins or Mail enhancement apps that might be moving stuff around?  This would not be good for the index.  Rebuild on an IMAP account, where local copies of messages are kept may not be as clean as it would for POP and On My Mac mailboxes.

    Im running out of space, how do I clear old content temp files old apps?
    i have done the browser cache and cleared history.I am clearing items off the macbook pro but is there other areas i should clean
    Thanks

    Im running out of space, how do I clear old content temp files old apps?
    I'm not sure exactly what you're asking. Temp files get automatically deleted when you restart. Old apps you can either uninstall (if it was originally installed with an installer, there should be an uninstaller somewhere) or drag it to the trash. What's "old content"?
    i have done the browser cache and cleared history.
    This is not going to give you back much space.

  • Acrobat Connect Pro LMS 7.5 server cache issue - displaying old content

    Our Adobe Acrobat Connect Pro server is showing old Captivate-created content from about 4-6 weeks ago.
    I loaded 35+ sets of Captivate 3 (SCORM 1.2, HTML, zipped) content onto our Acrobat Connect Pro LMS about 6 weeks ago.
    I converted all training content from Captivate 3.0.1 to 4.0.1, 4 weeks ago by opening each file in Captivate 4 and following prompts to "Save As" new files with different file names.
    I reloaded all content 4 weeks ago, and again 2 weeks ago.
    I reloaded about half of all content again last week.
    End User Acceptance testing performed this week showed that most of the courses are showing old content, ranging from 2-6 weeks old
    Attempted fixes and workarounds:
    Deleting content entirely and reloaded from scratch - this will not work long term, as we lose usage data each time we reload completely new files.
    Contacted Adobe, provided times to track incidents of the issue.  We reached Tier 2 - who told us it was our problem and that everything appeared to be working fine from their side.
    New workaround - load new content and reattach course to new content.  This presents the same long term issue as the first workaround, but enables us to retain older versions of content in the system, should we need to revert or report on it.
    Gaining server side access is a bit challenging due to the hosting situation we have, so I am looking (ideally) for a solution that can be performed from the Administrator/Author Frontend.  However, I want to learn the real cause of the problem, wherever it might reside, so that it can be properly corrected and avoided in the future.  I am calling this a server cache issue, as it seems the server has somewhere retained unwanted old versions of content, preventing current content from being displayed to end users.  Viewing content as an end user = see old content.  Viewing content from the Content area (Author view) shows the current files, so I know they are on the server and are loading correctly, up to a point.
    I am preparing all content for another round of loading/reloading due to other issues and updates, so republishing and reloading all 35+ files into the LMS is unavoidable at this point.
    This issue is keeping our LMS from launching to several thousand users across the country, so any suggestions or helpful tips are much appreciated.

    I think I have isolated the source of this problem. It's the Pitstop Professional 9 plug in. I un-installed this, and everything opens quicker than greased lightning. I re-installed it and it's back to slowsville.
    Unfortunately Pitstop is essential to my workflow.
    Until recently I did my pre-press on a Mac G5 with Acrobat Pro 7 and Pitstop 6.5. I never had this problem with slow file opening. But it seems that the delays would occur when I used the plug-in with large complex files.. So it would open files as fast as you'd expect from an elderly machine. But starting to use Pitstop would result in a prolonged period of staring at a spinning beachball.
    I wonder is there any way to stop the Pitstop plug-in from initializing until it is used? So the plug-in stays inert until you select the tool from from the menus.

  • 'Content not working' problem on BBC and elsewhere

    Wonder if any kind and expert people could help here?
    System: Lenovo laptop, Win XP SP3 32bit, all updates installed. Main browser Firefox with add-ons including Adblock and Ghostery. Broadband via TalkTalk (after they bought up the original ISP I signed up for!) via a BT Business Hub router, usually connecting wirelessly. Comodo firewall installed, no other 'security' stuff running..
    Problems: started around 7/8/9ish Jan 2013 after working fine for ages. Not sure what triggered it - there were Windows, Acrobat and possibly a few other automatic updates going in around then, maybe also FireFox going to 18.
    Problem is with on demand video:
    BBC iPlayer - any show - spins for a bit then comes up "this content doesn't seem to be working"
    Error code - EMP v.3.0.0.r617463_618125_4  Playlist URL : http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/playlist/p012msym/ Error code :
    CDNRedundancyManagerError [0] : null
    BBC news website clips - any - spins for a bit then comes up "this content doesn't seem to be working"
    Error code  - same as iPlayer
    BBC radio player - says 'loading' for a bit then does nothing.
    ITVplayer - plays an ad then 'resume' button comes up but it won't play, 'resume' just reappears.
    Youtube - videos play but takes several seconds to start buffering, much slower than usual
    BUT video playing via e.g. Guardian website seems to work fine.
    I've tried googling CDNRedundancyManagerError and searching for any related problems, and then tried everything suggested, e.g. at
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4022210
    http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-1939039.html
    but nobody seems to have an answer and all made no difference:
    - Broadband speed tests - these show around 2Mb/s as usual. Iplayer diagnostic showed the 'streaming 1' test at zero one time, but then it was around 2Mb/s like  the others on subsequent tests.
    - Cleared Firefox browser cache and history
    - Restarted FF in safe mode
    - checked 'allow third party storage' is on in Flash settings. Also tried it with and without hardware acceleration (right click in Flash player and also in Firefox options).
    - /etc/hosts file is original Windows one with no changes.
    - uninstalled Flash and reinstalled current Flash 11.5 (freshly downloaded)
    - Full clean uninstalled Flash as per Adobe instructions and reinstalled 11.5
    - Clean uninstalled and tried Flash Beta 11.6
    - Clean uninstalled then tried Flash 10.3
    - Then put 11.5 back on
    - Turned off firewall
    - In firewall, whitelisted Firefox and plugin container
    - Installed Chrome and tried that - exactly the same behaviour as Firefox.
    - Connected laptop to router via ethernet cable not Wifi
    - Tried another XP computer, connecting by wifi to the same router - same problem. Rarely use this machine so not sure how long it had the issue.
    - Tried a Windows 7 laptop connecting by wifi to the same router - works properly no problems!
    - On original laptop tried a system restore to a week ago when known working - system restore failed, 'no changes made to original system'.
    So, I'm a bit flummoxed.
    - Can't be the router as the Win7 laptop works OK.
    - Can't be the ISP throttling streaming video as the Win7 laptop works OK.
    - Can't be the Wifi on the XP machines as connecting by ethernet makes no difference.
    - Unlikely(?) to be Flash as the Chrome version has same problems as Firefox, and also installing various versions made no difference.
    - Not the firewall as turning it off makes no difference.
    - Not the Firefox add-ons as (a) turning them off in safe mode makes no difference and (b) Chrome also affected
    So what can it be? Any ideas anyone?
    Thanks in advance for any help. Will respond quickly with further info or results of further tests. Cheers Pete

    Good idea - but sadly there was no change in safe mode. I agree something in XP does sound like the culprit...
    I suspect it may be quite hard to reproduce - similar error reports from users are fairly thin on the ground, and I'd expect many more if all XP systems were affected. Everything also plays fine on an XP machine I have at work (different router and ISP, but it's got much the same software on and has had all the same updates).
    I'm in the UK BTW as you clearly guessed!
    As to a URL - just try any of the video clips on the BBC website or try playing anything via iPlayer - they all behave the same as far as I can tell. e.g.
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-21039157
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b01pz9m7/Locomotion_Dan_Snows_History_of_Railways_Epi sode_1/
    both give the 'content not working' with CDN redundancy etc error just now. Incidentally several of the Google hits for that error were for people trying to access the BBC via various VPN services/proxies... wonder if that's an indication I'm running into some error whereby the BBC don't know I'm in the UK?
    for ITV player see e.g.
    https://www.itv.com/itvplayer/lewis/series-7/episode-2-down-among-the-fearful-part-2
    It prompted me for a location - either via me typing a postcode or letting the browser tell them the location. Choosing the latter came up 'unknown' so I had to enter the postcode...
    So I wonder if it's an issue whereby my IP address (or whatever) isn't being properly tied to a UK location. I would assume that's usually an ISP issue, although the fact that the Windows 7 machine works would seem to contradict this...
    Region is set as UK in the XP 'Regional and Language' control panel...
    Finally I've just noticed that another on demand service seems to be working OK: e.g.
    http://www.channel4.com/programmes/the-big-bang-theory/4od#3456419

    Hi Brian,
    Thanks for your reply!
    I've tried building with every version of Ant and FlexUnit I could find, including the latest beta... same problem every time. Though I haven't tried using a different Flex SDK - my project uses 3.2.0. Could that be causing problems? All the FlexUnit versions I can find are for 3.5 or later.
    Below is the full console output from my build script (using the flexunit task rather than exec). As for the descriptor file, if you mean the one created by the FlexUnit task, I'm afraid I have nothing to post... since the error is that the task isn't able to create it in the first place. (Or if it is being created, it sure isn't anywhere I can find it - see below for screenshot of project contents.) I can post the descriptor I wrote myself if that will be of any use - just let me know.
    Thank you so much for your help!
    Helen

  • Updated HTML content not displayed

    Hi All,
               In webdynpro application, I am having an HTML file in the MIME repository which I am downloading dynamically and modifying its contents and placing the edited contents in ICM cache to display the URL. But I see that the changes I have made in the HTML file has not taken place even though I see in the debug mode that the chanegs are happening. In order to test i deleted the html file manually from MIME repository and uploaded it again , but even then it displays the old contents of the deleted HTML file. ANd it is not even taking the changes that are happening  in the program dynamically.
    Where is that it is going wrong?

    If you place the dynamic HTML content into the ICM cache, then it should have a completely different URL than the original content from the MIME repository.  It would only have the same content with the different URL if that is what you placed into the Cache.  Generally the Cached URLs are GUIDs.  Perhaps you should post your ICM cache upload code, because if the content is the old content from the MIME repository, then you are certainly doing something wrong in the upload.

  • I have old content appearing in the content viewer

    I have old content appearing in the content viewer and would like to beable to control it, but can't find where it's coming from.
    It is stuff from the pre release days V10 backwards, that side loaded into the content viewer locally which seems to have somehow come over when I installed the new viewer but can't see where it is coming from. Anyone any ideas?

    Hi Bob
    Thanks for coming back, I have already tried the method you mention, but the past issues are not coming from that scorce, I have only the completed folios on line that were uploaded to the Adobe servers in order to be downloaded in to the multi issue apps.
    The folios I am seeing (approx 60 of them) seem to be loacally stored on my desktop that somehow have been picked up possiblly during a backup. I have set up a different Adobe ID and logged into the content viewer with the new ID but they are still there and are enabled for download. Removing them locally has no effect, so I assume they are coming from the Adobe servers.

  • SQL server name change - old content DB mounted but url is empty

    Reconfigured Sharepoint with new sql server name by creating new farm administration, then mounted the old wss content DB.
    When i open the old site name is says page cannot be found. Then i went and recreated the site using the same site name and it works but it does not show the old content. Please help.
    The aim is to shift Sharepoint from pointing to the old SQL Server to the new server.
    nchiliza

    Hi Nchiliza,
    How did you mount the old content database to the new SharePoint?
    From your description, it seems that the database was not mounted successfully.
    If the database has been mounted successfully, then all the site collections created in the original web application will be listed under the new web application. You can check this in Central Administration.
    I recommend to detach the content database and then reattach it again.
    Dismount-SPContentDatabase "<ContentDBName>"
    Mount-SPContentDatabase "<ContentDBName>" -DatabaseServer "<DBServerName" -WebApplication
    http://SiteName
