Old Issue Resurfaces: "Jaggies"

When importing still images from iPhoto I would apply the "Ken Burns Effect" during import to eliminate the pixelizing or "Jaggies" appearance. Worked Great, but this no longer seems to be working during import of stills.
...Anyone have a suggestion, or a check list to follow?

How can I get back old issues from my TIME app?

Hi, I hope someone can help me. I've been trying to get help for a month now. I had purchased several issues from TIME app but when I just got my ipad 2, I couldn't get the issues back. I used the same ID and password. I decided to try buying a new issue and when I did, I had an email from itunes warning me that it was not my usual ID. I am very confused. I wrote to TIME and they say I should contact itunes. I have spent hours trying to contact itunes for help. They seem uncontactable. Use the trackpad to scroll, thats what it was designed for. The scroll bars automatically disappear when not being used and will appear if you scroll up or down using the trackpad.
This is a user-to-user forum and most people will post on here if they have problems. You very rarely get people posting to say there update went smooth. The fact is the vast majority of Mountain Lion users will not be experiencing any major problems with the OS, or maybe with apps which are not compatible, but thats hardly Apple's fault if developers don't update their apps.

Formating, it must be gone now?
When you update, delete and reinstall your profile is kept and only program-files are deleted / replaced. All your prefs , account details, mail, folders and add-ons are intact.
All that is in a hidden directory %appdata%\roaming\thunderbird\profiles\.......

I have tried for months to delete old issues from newsstand.

I can no longer find any way to delete old issues of the New Yorker from the newsstand app on my iPad with ios 7.0.4. Where can I get help? Also, since I am new to this forum, how will I ever find this post again, and how will I ever know if anyone has responded?

When I hold my finger on the New Yorker icon in newsstand it begins to wiggle and an x is available, but when I click on the x I am told that if I proceed all data for the New Yorker will be deleted. I do not want to then have to re-download 20 or so issues so I am not willing to follow your advice. It would take a couple hours to reload those issues.

This problem has arisen only since the latest version of newsstand was issued. An earlier version provided a capability to remove individual issues, but the feature is now hidden if it even exists. And I cannotr even find any way to determine the version number for the app that I have installed. IMHO this is pretty crummy programming.

I've had the same issue for YEARS now, with flash videos (like on youtube) and games starting out okay, but after a little while, they just start to stutter and slow way down, while the CPU usage goes up to ridiculous levels. The browser doesn't matter, firefox or chrome, online content or run off the local hard drive. I have the latest flash player, and this has been a problem ever since at least version 9. I'm using XP. I think version 8 never had this issue, but unfortunately all recent games and youtube videos won't run with version 8. Adobe did something with recent versions of flash player that causes this issue now. Google search and you'll see countless threads from people with all kinds of computers with all kinds of specs having the exact same issue.
There has never been an entry in the Adobe knowledgebase about it, despite the persistence of this problem.
It's like it's a coverup or something. The more I think about it, the more it reminds me about when the Netscape browser was caught secretly uploading information to their servers and resulting in browser slowdowns. Is flash player doing the same thing? Adobe has already been caught out with spyware-like activities with Photoshop connecting to Omniture through the flash-enabled splash screens that were purposely disguised to look like they were innocently connecting to a user's local system, but in fact connecting to stat and online marketing sites. Is this why this years-old problem has never been addressed in any official way? Now I'm just rambling. I want a fix. It's been years now that I haven't been able to enjoy more than a few minutes worth of flash content.

How do I view old issues?

I'm trying to track down a rather horrific bug that has recently appeared on the Android version of my site, where rendering often just stops when you stop touching the screen. Some Googling turns up a bug that has been fixed in a recent Flash Player 11 prerelease that might be related:
Android (Flash Player): Rendering on multiple games stops unless the user is actively touching the screen (2892606).
But I don't know how to view bug 2892606--it doesn't show up in bugbase.adobe.com. I presume this is because old bugs that are fixed are purged or hidden somehow. But I really need to know if this is something I can't fix until this version of Flash Player 11 comes out, so I'd love to be able to see what was going on with that issue in particular. Is there a way to view it?

This was an internal only bug, which is why it wasn't visible on bugbase.adobe.com. I've reviewed the bug, but other than being fixed in the upcoming Flash Player 11 release, there were no workaround instructions available.

Old issue re-emerges: "iPod Software is too old" - but update not available

I found this issue discussed in October 2005, but the suggested fix then doesn't seem to work now.
Today, for the first time, I got an error when syncing my iPod, stating that some music could not be synced because my iPod software is too old. Of course, when I click the update button, it says I have the most recent version. If I try syncing again, I get the same error.
I have iTunes 7.1.1, and iPod software v. 3.1.1
I've even tried restoring the iPod, but when I try that it says that my iPod cannot be found... which of course is nonsense because iTunes was just syncing with it and it's visible in the Devices list.
Any suggestions?

Some more info on the problem --
Possibly related, possibly not -- the iPod has also been freezing periodically. Usually it happens while starting up or shortly after. If I put the iPod up to my ear, I can hear the drive whir then click and stop, and repeat. I've found that hitting the iPod can sometimes change the sound the drive makes, but I don't think it ever brought the drive back to life. Getting it back from being frozen seems random but does happen. Usually it was by restoring (before this "iPod Software is too old" problem began). This morning, when I plugged it in to check to make sure it saw the model correctly, it took 3 tries to start up (the first two times it brought up the unhappy iPod image, but then immediately went back to the apple and tried again).
I purchased the iPod refurbished from the apple site a little less than a year ago. It's a Click Wheel, B/W screen... I think that's a 4th generation, but I don't want to misrepresent it.
Should I just take it in to the nearest Apple Store and get their genius bar to look at it? Frankly, I'm stumped.

Compaction error since old issue of too little free space........

I continue to have an issue with apple Mail. This started when I had too little hard drive free space. I have now upgraded and added an external hard drive with 2 partitions and have deleted a ton of stuff from my original 8.5gig hard drive to leave me with about 3gigs of free space. I began using Carbon Copy Cloner to back everything up on a weekly basis. Now my issue is that e-mails wont delete and mail will shut down occasionally. It will also give me "compaction errors" and revert the mailbox to original settings. I have tried all of Allan Sampsons suggestions, like going to Applications/Library/ etc. and moving the Inbox to my desktop. etc. etc. etc. ALL has not helped and is just seeming to compound the issue....things keep getting worse. Until just the last few days I was also having shut down issues and "sleep" issues. I ran disk utility and this seems to have been cleared up. I really believe that I have some corruption in my Mail program and would like to remove Mail and reinstall it fresh. Does anybody have any other suggestions? I think I can reinstall with no problem, but I'm unclear how to remove the old corrupted version of Mail. Could someone give me other suggestions or help me through the removal of the corrupted old Mail?

Deleting and re-installing the Mail.app rarely resolve this or any problem.
All Mail.app data is stored in the Mail folder at Home > Library > Mail and all email account information and general Mail.app settings are stored in the Mail.app preference file.
Since your hard drive did not have adequate free hard drive space required for OS X to function properly until recently, it sounds like some of your mailboxes (mbox files) have some corruption (not the application itself). If so, re-installing the Mail.app will not resolve this since no data is stored in the application.
Quit Mail first and using the Finder, go to Home > Library > Mail. Move the entire Mail folder to the external hard drive for later use.
Launch Mail and a new Mail folder and account named folders within will be created automatically. All mailboxes will be empty and any created rules and signatures will not be available along with Junk Mail "learned" settings lost but this will determine if the problem lies within the old Mail folder which I believe it does.
If this allows the Mail.app to function properly, you can use the Import Mailboxes function to import selected mailboxes from within the old Mail folder moved to the external hard drive and I would import only a number of available mailboxes at one time since one or a number of the existing mailboxes probably have some corruption due to the lack of free hard drive space you had previously.

"Scrolling / Highlighting" issue (hope this isn't an old issue I overlooked

Ever since installing iTunes in summer of '07, I have noticed a "problem" when I go and attempt to "highlight" a group of songs (etc.), no matter if they're in the MUSIC, PODCASTS, or any other group in my Library. Let me try to explain this problem so that it may be easy to understand...
As a theoretical example, I have 10 listings in my Podcast section of the Library. They would be shown as:
Show 1
Show 2
Show 3
Show 4
Show 5
Show 6
Show 7
Show 8
Show 9
Show 10
Now, let's say I want to highlight Shows 4 thru 8... I place my mouse on Show 4 and hit Enter to highlight 4, and then using the down arrow key (while holding down the Shift key) to allow me to highlight those entries. If I accidently go one (or more) entry TOO FAR past Show 8 (thus also highlighting Show 9), If I try to use the Shift + Up Arrow key, rather than the highlighted group "unhighlighting" Show 9, the highlighted group will suddenly highlight Show 3, rather than unhighlighting Show 9. I have all of the current iTunes and iPod upgrades... my Win XP has all of the upgrades, along with any/all upgrades to any/all hardware/software/firmware to every component of my PC.
I have iTunes installed on every one of the PC's mentioned, because many of the PC's may be in use when I am working on audio or audio-video projects, or when these networked PC's are used as a "grid computing" network when rendering large files which will eventually be made into DVD for myself or music clients.
This problem occurs no only on the MAIN PC I use for my audio video editing studio, but it also happens on the other 9 PC's, as well as 6 other stand-alone PC's throughout my residence! Apple's phone Tech Support has stated they are "looking into this issue" back in October of 2007, but I have yet to hear back from them.
If someone can give me a pointer as to what is going on, I would appreciate it. I have searched the Discussion Areas, but trying to go through thousands of results is pretty much pointless (and straining on the eyes!!!). I hope this is not an old question which is being "rehashed"; any assistance with this rather cumbersome problem would be appreciated.
I hope I have given enough information as to what I am using for equipment, and the example of the problem is easy enough to follow along.

10.5.4 update re-ignites old issue MBP fails to see battery, runs AC only

I upgraded my original MacBook Pro to 10.5.4 yesterday and almost immediately had the same issues that I and others reported in this forum around the time of the 10.4.9 and 10.4.10 updates. (see threads 4796166 & 974017).
The exact problem is that after the update the MBP will not boot up without the AC power connected - even though it can see the internal battery and reports it's charge level normally. For example my battery (this machine's 3rd and at 245 cycles) is showing 99% charge, but if I remove the magsafe connector it will immediately power-off - exactly as if it was a battery-less desktop machine and the mains power was suddenly cut. To be clear this is not a sleep or staged shutdown - it just stops dead.
If you then try to power-up using the power button the machine starts to power up but immediately (less than a second) stops and goes back to full power-off mode. Reconnect the magsafe and everything works fine. Resetting PMU/SMC has no effect - behaves the same.
I managed to get around it last time but it was a fix that only lasted a few weeks. In the end I had to replace the battery with a new one. I'm really annoyed that although this problem was previously reported by many people in the forums, Apple appear to have paid no heed and are still putting out updates that result in dead batteries that have to be replaced.
OK rant over.

The battery has always been re-calibrated roughly every 2/3 weeks. The problem also does not appear to be any of the issues on that list fro BatteryUpdater1.2. Also the Leopard 10.5.4 runs with Battery Updater 1.3 rather than 1.2 and (besides getting a little too warm) the problems only started 24hrs or so after the update (ie at first disconnection from mains AC under 10.5.4).
As this is the 3rd battery I've had in the machine and it (the battery) is just under a year old, I took it back to the reseller this morning and I'll be getting a new battery on the warranty.
In the meantime the MBP is running on the previous battery which, having been sitting unused in the box for a year, now appears to be working fine after a full 'calibration charge'. I think I'm sorted!

Old issue...How can you delete multiple emails?

You would have thought that Apple would have given us an easy way to delete multiple emails by now.
I'm trying to clean up my wife's 16GB iPad with thousands of old emails and tried every old trick. ( Holding down the move after selecting one etc. it crashes now in iOS 8 )
I read that you can go to Messages preferences and select how long you want to keep messages, Never, (1 month etc...)
but is that text Messages or Mail also? But how do you get rid of the old ones. I've cleaned out the server, thinking that the Cloud would pick that move up, but that didn't work either.
The old iOS version allowed in Preferences to select the Maximum amount of emails you want on your iPad ( ala 100 etc ) iO7 killed that move.
Is this a simple but stupid oversight on Apples part OR is it intentional to get me to buy a Larger GB iPad for my wife next time!

Instead of using the iOS Mail app to do this massive cleanup, you might go to Yahoo or GMail or other services, and do it on the web. For the clean up process for large amounts of mail, that might work better. Once it's under control though, then it's pretty easy to maintain from the iOS Mail app. It's just a matter of checking it once every few days or so and keeping your "housekeeping" done ... :-) ...

Old issue, looking for simpler solution

This is about the familiar, "I-had-my-logic-board-replaced-and-now-Time-Machine-is-confused" issue that has been covered in older posts. Forgive me if this seems redundant. Before I proceed with the solution described here:

I was curious if someone here or even Apple (what a concept) has come up with a more "elegant" solution that allows one to continue using the "pre-logic board replacement" back-ups. Posters here and on MacOSX Hints have explained very concisely the cause of the problem, so the underlying cause is clear to me. I'm just a nervous about making a typo in the Terminal that will rear it's ugly head down the road. I looked around for an Applescript or utility that might do the voodoo for me, but came up empty.

New Problem, Old Issue. Ethernet not Working

If you do, well, I have the same issue once more. It's driving me a bit nuts, to be perfectly honest.
About 10 days ago I finally had a stable ethernet connection on my Desktop machine to the internet. 8 days ago I marked the other thread as solved as it was still working and thought that my problems had been solved. Unfortunately, here I am 10 days later and suddenly, without warning, the ethernet connection on my Desktop loses internet connectivity.
I tried turning the router off and then turning it back on, but none of that worked.
Right now it switches between two different states without little indication as to why it switches between them except that it tends to only do it as a I unplug the cable and then plug it back in. The two states are simply connecting to an "Unidentified Network" which is much the same as the problem I had before, and connecting to an "Unidentified Network" with "Internet Access", except, none of the applications that use internet on the computer actually have Internet access even in this state. The Unidentified Network is the key to knowing I still don't truly have internet access.
Windows Firewall is off. It's actually been off for awhile now because I forgot to turn it back on after I initially shut it off trying to get it to connect before. Windows 7 (64-bit) is up-to-date, so that's not the issue either. But something is at issue here and I'm not sure what it is. Since the Wireless works, and the Desktop downstairs works on the ethernet, I can only assume it's something with this Desktop. But I'm not sure what it is or why it's doing this.
Any help with isolating the problem so I can actually fix it and not wait almost two weeks for it to magically work again would be immensely appreciated. Thank you.

Apologies for not responding sooner. I decided to take a look at a Windows 7 support forum to see if the issue was something specific to that. After explaining in detail, I got this post and I followed the steps. I posted the information I got and then tried the duplex thing.
The default setting it seems is "Auto Negotiation" which obviously wasnt working.
I tried 100 Mbps Half Duplex and suddenly I had a connection. I can connect to the internet on my Desktop! So I tried 100 Mbps Full Duplex and.... no connection.
So, right now it's set to Half Duplex. But I don't even understand why it would need to be Half instead of Full, or the benefits or disadvantages to either. Right now it's working, but I wish I understood more.
The 192.168.1.25 may have been a typo, since I set the device to run off a static IP of 192.168.1.125, to my knowledge no device on the network has 192.168.1.25
But other than that brief typo, I do believe the rest of the information is as accurate as I could make it. I typed it as I looked for it, so even if it seems odd, that's what it was.
