OLE-Container and migration to the web

Our environment:
We run our forms in both, client-server and web-environment. Now we plan to migrate some outstanding tasks to the web (using web_util) and then desupport the client-server-version.
My problem:
There is a form with a OLE-Container. Users can store and retrieve documents like pdf or tif in the database (longraw). Until yet there are no constraints respecting to the filetype. For the future we want to limit the user to pdf and tif.
How can I migrate this application to the web?
OLE-Objects are obsolet, but I don't see, how web_util can help.
I don't know how the data are modified when an ole-object is stored to the longraw-column. I guess there must be some tags/ envelopes, describing the type of the document.
Is this "ole-format" also obsolet? Should we migrate our data, too?
What do you recommend?

OLE Container linked documents conversion to Web Forms

We have developed a form within our Oracle 6i application which allows users to navigate directly from the Forms application to relevant documents. We use an OLE container and the documents (Word, Excel, PDF etc) are linked rather than embedded in the database. I understand that OLE containers are not supported within Web Forms. I'd like to maintain the functionality within the application and welcome any suggestions. I was hoping that Web_Util would provide this but it doesn't appear so. We have over 12000 embedded references to documents which we'd like to extract or retain. A possible solution would be to extract the filenames and paths/locations and have them available as a hyperlink.
I have no idea how to extract the file from the database blob column. There are many samples of code on Metalink to extract the document and store it locally but that's not what we want.
We use an OLE container (now Obsolete) with the OLE Tenant Type set to Linked, and OLE Tenant Aspect set to Icon. So the actual document is not embedded in the database but somehow the Application (Word Excel etc) knows the filename and path when you double click on the Icon.
I would like to extract the filename/path from the blob column and transfer it to another column which will be used as a hyperlink.

The documents are NOT stored in the database, they are linked. We have the documents on the network but have no idea which documents match to which unique record id on the database. Hence the need to extract the name and location of the files. Some ids can have up to 10 different documents attached to them
The use of OLE Tenant type "Linked" was really a Forms 6 version of a hyperlink.
I've got a hyperlink working for future use in attaching new documents to a record id. I am worried that we've lost the record of old links. I don't understand how Oracle can make something obsolete without at least providing an upgrade method.

Wikis (and Ical on the WEB) give a Server starting up... message with the turning wheel. They were working perfect, and yesterday started the problem. I have not changed any of the server settings neither permissions. From Mozilla Firefox on windows throes an Mac OS X server message
500: An internal error occurred trying to process your request. Sorry. Safari gives a Server starting up..
I checked permissions and look ok, root and admin group have read & write access. to
/Volumes/DATA HD/ServiceData/Web/Documents/Collaboration folder and up in the path.
Does anybody know how to solve this?
I tried updating to OS X 10.6.5 but the problem continues.

I am having a similar issue as you marktech, with colaboration folder on a different drive.
My temporary solution is to stop and start web services on the server, and the message goes away and users can log in. Problem comes back on a server restart.
Swamped here so have not been able to apply troubleshooting techniques.
What I have checked is verifying permissions on collaboration folder. Seems like I had to re-apply permissions after any significant update.
My final resolution will be to migrate from the ssd hard drive (the extra speed is not any significant impact for us) to a 1TB hard drive and migrate data back over to a single drive in original directory locations. appologies have not had ample time to research the issues....

You can't browse the web on an Apple TV
You can view any content that is in your iTunes library on the PC via the Apple TV if it is in the correct format.

How to deploy existing forms and reports on the web

Hi Guys,
I have 6i forms and reports within our environment, and we are running client/server architecture, by installing forms and reports runtime on each client PC's. We would like to get rid of this by deploying forms and reports on the web, without zero coding. Can any one suggest and guide me through the process with proper security mechanism enabled along with.

We have a develpment 10g AS environment setup made,
1) But we are really confused how to present the forms and reports.
We have around 250 forms and reports running on client/server architecture. All these forms/reports have been copied to a fileshare and access control is restricted by folder security.
2) How to deploy forms - entries within formsweb.cfg with Named Configuration sections.
3) How to deploy reports, as to were to copy the .rep files.

Why is my Mac storing graphics and photos from the web in iPhoto?

How can I prevent my Mac from downloading graphics and photos from the web? How do I remove the thousands of images that the Mac moved into iPhoto when I browse the web?

This has been reported a few time with no definitive cause. It probably is caused by dragging things to iPhoto. Best solution is to load the back up from just before it occurred. Otherwise you neen to use iPhoto to delete them emptying the iPhoto trash every 100 or so

Once the user has entered the URL they want to add to the form. You can use the loadXML function to implement some special text in a label...

Well the error message is in Swedish but says: The installation program database is damaged. Please contact the Adobe support (which is a hard thing to do!!). I use Windows 7 Home Premium with service pack 1.

AWP and "Mark Of The Web"

I'm trying to add the "mark of the web" to the pages that run
the web player and it causes the web player not to run for me. All
I get is an outline box where the player should be. If I take that
code out, it works as normal. Any ideas?

Firefox goes off line and cannot search the web

I use Firefox to run facebook and play Kingdoms of Camelot. i have a number of user scripts downloaded which enable KOC to run when I am at work or sleeping. However most morning when i get up i get the message that Firefox has gone off line and cannot browse the web. I have checked my internet settings and i do not have have power save settings set etc. Also I have left Google chrome running all night as well and I have no problems. It only occurs with Firefox. Any help would be appreciated.

OLE Container and Forms9i

I have a table containing a blob field. The field have texts and pictures in Acrobat reader format and JPEG format.
The forms 6 use an OLE Container to manipulate these data's.
I would like the have the same kind of possibilities in the Web environment.
I don(t have any ideas how to proceed (I don't have write any OLE script).
Did someone have an idea how to proceed ?

Thanks for the answers I have received.
I'am implementing the following solution:
1) Download the document stored in the BLOB to a local temporary document (via webutil_file_transfert.db_to_client_with_progress procedure)
2) Start Acrobat Reader and load the document (via CLIENT_HOST procedure)
3) Upload the document to the database.
My problem is: The document in the temporary file contains an OLE Container Header !
I need to clean up all the documents store in the BLOB in order to be able to open them.
Any ideas ??

i am just loading images into the DatabBase... when running the form, the Ole Container displays the icon and the name of the image, and the image just opens if i double-click the container... can i just display the images instead of that?

Look at the "OLE Activation Style" and "OLE Tenant Aspect" properties.
You could also use an "Image" item type instead of an OLE container.

Hi Marco,
1. there is no system supported history management. You need to find a process.
I implemented using direct update in the application. The link is part of the portal
knowledge management. To have a survey history the purchaser or supplier copys
the file and store it in the folder.
2. All these screens are BSP driven. The registration page creates the business
partner in SRM, why changes are extremly tricky, but I also do not see the need
to change the first page. In Prescreen vendors it is the same, propably possible.
The questionaires can be adjusted within SRM trx and somehow easily configured.
3. There are several tables, which in combination contain the questionnaire.
Have a look for tables starting with tuws, like TUWS_SURVEY.
4. HTML
5. No; a questionnaire does no have any attachment functio. You can attach
document to a prospect in the trx Prescreen Suppliers. The docs are linked to
the Business Partner, like the questionnaire as well.
6. Once the supplier submits the registration page, the questionaire is sent out
automatically. For getting the process running the web survey settings as well
sapconnect needs to be configured. The process is described e.g. in Guide for
Strategic Sourcing as well into sap.help for the process.
