OLE error when opening word document

Hi,
I have a form that allows update of word documents stored in blob fields in the database.
The form works fine. except that if I open and update a document that has a footer and then save the document back into the database without the footer, it is no longer possible to open it.
Can anyone help?
Sometimes I get FRM 40922 : An OLE error occurred 0x80004005
Otherwise when I click on the icon nothing happens.

I can avoid this problem by leaving the footer and returning to the main document view before saving the document.

I have exactly the same problem. The interesting thing is that the file opens when I attach it to an email and open it out of the email. I already saw the advice you provided in similar post from Aug last year and checked the security settings of the file and the folder. But according to that I have all rights.
My OS is Windows 7 Enterprise.

CALL_NOT_FLUSHED error while opening word document proxy

Hello Gurus,
We are using DMS application for uploading word documents in SAP system.
We are using the following code to open a document from SAP database
CALL METHOD CONTROL->GET_DOCUMENT_PROXY

Above code open a document proxy and with help of macros we are changing some of the variables in the document.
Problem is when we are trying to print this proxy with help of below code.
CALL METHOD proxy->print_document
                  EXPORTING

                    prompt_user = 'X'
                  IMPORTING
                    error       = error
                      retcode     = retcode .
In the above code if prompt_user parameter is passed then while execution a new window session is opened for printer selection but this methods gives an error as CONTROL_INTERNAL_ERROR. when i debugged it , it was giving error as CALL_NOT_FLUSHED.
But when we are commenting prompt_user as below
CALL METHOD proxy->print_document
                 EXPORTING
                   NO_FLUSH    = ''
                   prompt_user = 'X'
                  IMPORTING
                    error       = error
                      retcode     = retcode .
While execution printer selection window is open in the same window and nor error is passed by the method.
And print comes.
Kindly suggest how CALL_NOT_FLUSHED error can be eliminated.

Error when importing Word document

I am having a problem importing a Word document. This is the
first time I have experienced the problem.
Partway through the import (it appears to be attempting to
open the Word document) I get a message:
A file error has occurred.
Try one or more of the following:
*Check the disk drive to make sure the disk is properly
inserted
*Check the disk or the disk drive to make sure there is not a
hardware problem
*Check the network connections.
Things I have tried:
1. Reboot of the machine that has both RoboDemo (V5) and the
Word document.
2. Renaming the Word document to something with a shorter
name.
3. Taking out large sections of the document and then
retrying. Repeat until the document is empty.
I have searched this forum as well as the general web for any
information. Help! I'm on a tight deadline and I just can't kill
any more time screwing around with this.

I started the import just before going to bed last night and
it was still running when I killed it this morning. It did not
error with the message you got but I did get a Microsoft Word
message:
The server application, source file, or item cannot be found.
Make sure the application is properly installed.
The import was stuck on the graphics under Metadata Format. I
don't know if the callouts you had created in Word were the cause
but you cannot have those in RoboHelp HTML which is going to give
you a problem as the document is heavy on them.
Back to the import. Is there something in your document that
is pointing to a server? Is the template on a server or is your
normal template on a server instead of being local?
Also I notice you said RoboDemo. Did you mean that?

Error when opening word doc

When opening a word doc in pages 08 I get a pop-up saying "couldn't contact spell checker" The only option is to click "ok", but when I do the message immediately reappears! The only way out of the loop is to force quit. Has anyone else had this problem? For what it's worth, pages (when creating a new file) and my other programs seem to perform spell check functions just fine.

I found if I keep hitting clicking the "OK" button on the error message, eventually the file opens and the message goes away, temporarily (granted this has been for relatively short documents). As you start manuvering through the document, the message periodically appears. I can't tell why or when it appears; it seems random.
I've tried running Onyx and fixing program links but to no avail.
I also noticed that the document doesn't open up as an untitled document (re: Pages 2.0) but opens up with the original filename with a ".pages" extension.

Error when open DMS document

Dear DMS experts,
After migration DMS server from one server to another an error has occurred in transaction CV03N when try open original document I got next error massage: File C:\temp\file_name cannot be created (Message no. 26172).
This happens when I try to open the documents that have already been previously saved, the documents are saved now - open normally.

In SM59 SAPFTPA is working, but SAPHTTP don’t work. After change program SAPHTTP on a SAPGUI front-end, SAPHTTP is working.
I try ping my DMS – ok
In tr. CSADMIN I checked connection - all good.
Status: Running
Try test «nipping» on both servers all fine.
Tried to change the version of SAPGUI - did not help.
My system parameters DMS server:
OS: Windows Server 2012
DB: MAXDB Database Studio
I can not understand what the problem is because already migrate the server and it was all good

[adobe 11.0.09 | windows XP] error when open pdf document and persistent error message even if adobe is closed

I encounter a problem on a windows XP laptop using acrobat 11.0.09.
When i try to open a .pdf document i get an windows error message.
The document open well else, but i get persistent windows error message then, and i get them even if i close this document.

I try to uninstall / reinstall acrobat without change, this error message still stay when i open a pdf document.

I solve my problem :
1- chkdsk /f to test the disk => nothing particular
2- I use defraggler to defrag the harddrive ( was very fragmented)
I thing this two step doesn't change anything.
3- then i use Adobe Reader Acrobat Cleaner Tool and restart laptop
4- Reinstall Adobe Reader.
5- I just let reader11.0 folder in c:\program files\Adobe and delete other old reader folder.
6- did same in c:\documents and settings\%username%\application data\adobe\acrobat\

Issue when opening word document where it doesnt show the template part of the word document

I have a user who when she opens a document that should have a letter head template load in the background the template doesnt show, using another profile on the same machine the template does open, the view can be replicated from the working profile by
selecting page layout/Margins/custom Margins/layout and unticking the different first page box. this setting is correct on the affected profile. I have recreated the users profile but still get the same issue, this issue is affecting all documents the user
opens, is there a setting i am missing? I have also tried resetting word in the registry but this also has had no effect.

Could you tell me what version of Word are you using?
Templates (including Normal.dot) are stored in C:\Documents and Settings\user name\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates.
It’s possible that normal.dot file under your profile is corrupted. You can copy the normal.dot file under the normal profile to your store path.

Duplicated styles when opening Word document: Heading 1 A, Heading 1 AA,etc

I'm trying to get rid of Word and all the Windows in my office.
But when I import a Word document into Pages, it will duplicate the Styles. Heading 1 becomes Heading 1 AND Heading 1 A.
If I happen to export the Pages document to Word and back to Pages, then Heading 1 AA will appear (and I suppose that each time another one would appear: AAA, AAAA, AAAAA, until the style drawer explodes or something).
The problem is that styles act funny when this happens (character sizes are not correctly applied, for instance) and it is not acceptable in an office environment.
But maybe there is a simple solution to this.
If you have any ideas why this happens please help. This happens with docs created originally in Word and also with a new document created from Pages too.

Peter, as you mentioned it I went to check Bean out, but it is not a full replacement for Word, which is what we are looking for. Looks interesting as a light editor, though. Thanks.
I discovered how to get rid of the A ... AA styles simply by deleting them, Pages asks which style to use as a replacement, so I can manually fix the duplication, but it is impossible to do this every time and for every style (we have documents with dozens of styles). Moreover it is a productivity killer.
Again, I suspect I'm not the only person in the world with this. It happens every time for every conversion (even if I create a new Pages document from a blank template). Is there a way to avoid this?

Error when importing Word documents

I'm using RoboHelp 8 from the Technical Communication Suite.
When I try to import a doc/docx file for my HTML help I get the message: 'The Import Word Document Wizard cannot locate a supported version of Microsoft Word. Please install Microsoft Word 2000 or newer.'
Actually I have Microsoft Word 2010 installed in its default path.
Do I have to set some particular options? Some days ago I had my PC replaced with a new one and I had to reinstall all of my programs. I think I've missed some settings.

I was working with Office 2010 and RH8 almost without problems with my old PC. Maybe the colleagues from our EDP department have installed a different version of MS Word (a newer service pack?).

Unidentified error when combining word documents on Acrobat 8 standard

One of our users is currently running Office 2007 and Acrobat 8 Standard. Whenever she tries to combine multiple word files into one PDF, each file in the list will say "Error (file skipped)". The Status will say "PDF conversion process failed, please correct the error and retry." Afterwards I get an error of "No PDF file was created because Acrobat encountered an unidentified error." Printing to the PDF printer from Word works just fine, however this problem only seems to occur when combining word files. I have logged onto the PC as a network administrator and everything works correctly. Any Ideas?

It may be as simple as updating Acrobat. I think you needed AA8.1.3 to work with OFFICE 2007. Try to use the create PDF selection under the Acrobat menu in WORD (this is PDF Maker) and see if you can create a PDF. If there is no Acrobat menu, then PDF Maker is not active in WORD and is the basic problem you are having. PDF Maker has to be working for the Acrobat function you are using to be useful.

Error when compiling Word documents from OPM

When I try to compile a document from OPM (as opposed to from the Word OPM toolbar), OPM raises a dialog box with the title Compilation Error. It says, "Oracle Policy Modeling was unable to compile the document as an error occurred with Microsoft Word. This file could not be found." The Word file nonetheless opens, but does not compile. This makes it very laborious to compile my project, which has numerous rule documents.
Could the problem have something to do with the OPM Word template?
I'm using OPM 10.4.3 and Word 2010 on Windows 7 Enterprise.

Did you recently migrate from Word 2007 to Word 2010? Did this issue start occurring after you changed versions of Word? If yes, did you update the templates in the project?

Word 2010 - Network is Busy. Try again later shows randomly when opening Word document

Hi All,
Here's my dilemma, I have a single user who when they attempt to open a word/excel document get the error message, "Network Busy. Try again later". The file is opend from the Network via Samba but this does not happen all the time but randomly,
and this is the only user who is experiencing this behaviour, which is leading me to believe it is their PC/office. There doesn't appear to be any performance issue on the PC or network delays to cause this. I haven't found any workable suggestions, so help
would be grateful.

First, make sure that Office and Windows are completely up-to-date. Does this issue exist when document is saved to local disk?

Here is some useful information:

Now I am assuming that you restarted the client system after changing the registry value.... that setting is read during network startup, so just changing it would have had no effect until restarted.”

Random Cell Errors when opening Numbers Document

I recently downloaded the iWork '09 trial to see if I wanted to upgrade. When I bought iWork '08 I altered the Budget template so I could add my transactions and then have a chart which showed how well I met my budget. (Or how badly I went over)
When I opened this in the '09 version of Numbers, loads of my cells had turned into the red triangle error thing. Each one saying there was an error in the previous cell. Once I got to the first of these it just said there was an error in that cell. So I dragged the formula from the working cell above down one cell and suddenly loads of these triangle just disappeared. But at another point the triangles started again.
After ridding myself of these error cells I tried saving the file with a different name as a native '09 file. When I opened it again the error cells were back except they started in different places. After fixing saving and opening I can safely say I have a big problem, each time I reopened the document the error cells started in random places, sometimes in places where they had started previously. I saved it as a Numbers '08 file after fixing it one more time and it opened fine in Numbers '08.
I am so confused at what is going on. Am I missing something?

Have you:
- rebooted your machine?
- tried opening the same file in another user space?
- tried removing the preferences for your user to see if they are corrupt?
To remove preferences:
1) quit Numbers
2) open the folder using the Finder menu item "Go > Go to Folder…", then enter the path "~/Library/Preferences/"
3) move the files:
com.apple.iWork.Numbers.LSSharedFileList.plist
com.apple.iWork.Numbers.plist
4) start Numbers and try to open your file
