One confusion
I have a infopackage which I am loading data into my cube. In the selection tab of the InfoPackage I have a infoObject '0FISSPER' and I am trying to hard code the value range from lets say 01/2004-02/2004..it gave me error that the conv exit PERI7 has been deleted. Data load got failed. This is production system.., it was working fine in development. ..don't know what is the reason..pls let me know..I would appreciate the help.

Firstly, I know this a stupid question but I was out with editor friends and they confused me...so here it goes.

Someone said I need a KONA card! another guy said a really good PCI express card!! and the third said a good quality Nvidia card i.e Quadro FX 4500!!!
I have tried to get info on the web but I just get more confused, can someone explain the difference between the three, in language a guy who only understands REALLY SIMPLE language can understand....

Mac Pro Mac OS X (10.4.10)To expand on the previous comment, since it may not be entirely explanatory:
If you're doing FCP editing (live or not) your big needs will lie mostly in processor, RAM, and drive speed (not necessarily in that order). A Kona card is for encoding video (both in and out), and will likely be needed no matter what video card you go with, but has no purpose besides encoding video. Your computer can also do the encoding, but the purpose of the card is to offload that task. A Kona card is not a video card, and if you're in a "may need it" instead of "will need it daily" situation, it's probably not a huge requirement in your case.
Thanks to the power of the Mac Pro, the video card you use will make almost no difference in your editing unless you're doing something that requires 3D or requires more than one very large display. If you require two or more large displays, or require a card for 3D/GPU rendering (such as in Motion 2.0+) using the GPU (the processor on the video card), both the ATI X1900 and the very expensive NVidia will cover your needs. If you require neither heavy GPU processing, or more than one large display, the default video card will serve you well.
My two cents:
Please (oh please please please) do not get suckered into buying gear that isn't needed but sounds good because "It's what 'all the pros' use", or is very rarely needed. If you only need a piece of equipment once in a while, rent it for a week. The saved money will go toward more RAM, which can always be used for anything. -
Sorry, but this ichat thing is not intuitive, and Ralph's FAQ tips is incomplete (at bottom of page it appears to end in the middle of a sentence). I haven't yet wanted to pay for a .mac account, and I don't like the idea of downloading AIM software (ugh to AOL). I finally broke down and signed up an AIM screen name (after about 45 minutes of trying to find a name that had not yet been taken), but am confused about whether I still need to download the AIM software. What I want is to video connect with friends and family who have ichat on their macs. Are the only two options AIM or .MAC? Even with my cup of coffee this morning I'm at a loss. Paul

You don't need to d/l or install the AIM software to use iChat. All you need is the ID from AOL, and you have that. Have fun! If you wish to iChat with me, my screen name is tevandenberg. Add me to your list of Buddies (+ symbol at bottom of Buddy list), send me a message, and wait for me to reply. It's simple. And don't worry about having me, or anyone else, for a permanent buddy. If you tire of someone for any reason you may block them from your list (highlight their name in the Buddy List then select "Block name" from the Buddies Menu item at the top of your monitor and you no longer appear on their list of "victims".

Book Non-Pick Images confusion
I am totally confused and frustrated. I am trying to create a photo book for the first time and am working on one within a particular project. I have an edited color and black and white versions created from every master shot.
When I try to place an image on the photo book I get a bizarre message that tells me I can tried to use a "Non-Pick Image." What difference should it make?
If I select the image I want and make it the pick in the stack, it moves to the top of the stack, but the little check mark icon doesn't change and it STILL won't let me use the image I specified as "the pick" on the book.
Why do I need to use strictly "the pick" image from a stack? Makes it impossible to use the same image from a stack more than once. Nothing I seem to do allows me to use anything but the master image.
This shouldn't be this hard. I see the image I want, I drag and drop it where I want and I'm done. How do I get around this bug/feature?
Thanks.I experienced another side effect to this 'feature', and in figuring it out, I think I have the answer to your question. The quick answer is to unstack everything, or create new versions. If you want to understand what's going on, and learn the third way, read on...
There is a tiny mention in the manual that Stacks contain a series of related images, and one pick. This 'one pick' fact is very important. Stacks allow you to group images, but you can only designate ONE IMAAGE from the stack as the one to use. (The 'Pick'.) All the others in the stack are preserved in case you want to use one of them later instead, but they are basically hidden and can't be used in albums or books (I think). So, one pick per stack, and that is the left-most image (the one that stays on top when the stack is closed).
There is one confusing exception to this. You can designate another image in the stack as the 'Album Pick'. This tells Aperture that for this album only (or book), use the image in the stack with the check mark instead of the stack pick. You can set an Album Pick by selecting the image and choosing Stack > Set Album Pick (or something -- don't have Aperture open right now).
I haven't tried this yet, but I think if you make one image in the stack the Album Pick, then you can use two images from the same stack: the Stack Pick, and the Album Pick.
I still don't really get why.
Here is the scary side effect with books. BEWARE! So, I spent hours and hours building a 40 page book. I wanted two versions of the book -- both mostly identical, but a few pages were to be different in the second one. So, I got the first book perfect, adjusted all the images, proofed it, etc. Once I was satisfied, I duplicated that book and intended on making the few minor changes to the duplicate. Well, after I while, I noticed in shock that some images in the duplicate book did not have adjustments applied to them. After more investigation, I discovered that these 'non-adjusted' images were actually DIFFERENT IMAGES! Whereever I had used images from stacks in the first book, the duplicate book used some other images from the same stack!! This was disturbing!!! Such a major change, and NO NOTIFICATION.
I don't fully understand this, but basically, if you unstack the images, or use the Stack Pick and Album Pick, or create new versions of the images, you will avoid this problem.
So, Stacks are powerful and can be confusing. They are more than neat little organizers as I found out -- not at all like iPhoto's Events.
Does anyone have anything to add? What am I missing here?

Confused about importing images
I'm new to DreamWeaver but I've used GoLive for many years and still do. In GoLive if I want to import a folder of images so as to have them to work with in my site I just select Import, navigate to the folder and click it and the folder of images is copied to the site and appears in the GoLive window.
There is no way to do this in DreamWeaver that I can see. There is nothing I can find in the Help files or in the Missing Manual about importing images except one confusing entry in the Missing Manual. It says an image can be anywhere on your hard drive, but a couple paragraphs later it says images should be in the root folder of the site. I don't see any way to get them into the root folder other than doing so in the Finder which the documentation cautions against because DreamWeaver will become confused if this is done outside of DreamWeaver's Files window.
This has been absolutely maddening for me and I've spent at least an hour trying to figure out how to simply import images. It shouldn't be this difficult? What am I missing?Russ.G wrote:

No, you cannot IMPORT the images per se, there is no import function available.
Nadia, first you say to bring files into DW via the Files window and caution against doing it another way. Then in your next reply you say you don't use the Files window and so in fact bring the images in another way via Windows Explorer.

What I was trying to explain was that there are different ways to 'bring in' the images into the defined Dreamweaver site.
1. Copy them from anywhere on your hard-drive into a specific images folder within the defined site.
2. Work with an image that may be saved elsewhere, but save it to a folder within the defined site.
As for the confusion. regarding working with files, you need to understand why you need to define a site in Dreamweaver first. DW keeps track of all the links as you build a site, but the files - whether html, text or image files - need to be inside the defined site folder structure. How you get them in there is completely up to you. More than one way to skin a cat as they say.

Server Log Confusion (message meanings)
I realize that there are several pieces to this whole LiveCycle thing, but I and my colleagues find the robustness of the server log files somewhat overwhelming and extremely daunting. I am not even sure what question to ask or how to ask it. Basically I would like a list or a link to the descriptions and troubleshooting guides for the various modules/statements/messages that can appear in the server log. Some are rather easy to interpret, understand, and figure out. BUT, many of them are worse than reading Latin especially those that reference a STACKTRACE. Even a high-level breakdown of some of the more common things. Just about any help would aid us. Attempting to search Adobe or even the web for specific entries with the specifics stripped out produces few is any sound results.
I apologize if this seems like I am venting. Some of it may be just that but I can not believe that I/we am the only one confused by the server log.I found that one and it is useful to an extent but only if the log entry has one of those codes and if the code is in that file. It seems that 90% of the log entries I am dealing with do not have any of those codes. This may mean that they are specific to LiveCycle but related to one of the other tools used by LiveCycle (i.e., JBoss). I do not know and that is part of my frustration.

Dictionary has trouble with one of its fonts... How to solve?

My problem is the following: the OS X Dictionary app has severe trouble displaying one of the fonts it uses, I assume it should be Baskerville Italic (Bold Italic gets displayed correctly). See the following screenshot:
I have pretty much tried everything: resetting system fonts via Font Book, manually de- and reactivating the fonts Dictionary uses (Baskerville, Helvetica Neue, and Hiragino Mincho Pro W3; they're all active now) and checking whether I have other fonts that OS X could possibly confuse with one of the system fonts (I have a large font library with many duplicates from art school). Nothing helped.
Anybody had a similar problem and found a solution for this?
On a related, but less important note: when I reset all system fonts with Font Book (which should throw all fonts that are not included in OSX in a separate folder and deactivate them, as far as I understood it), nothing happened, except that he told me all my system fonts are fine. Could it be that installing new versions of OSX over older ones confuses the system about which are system fonts and which aren't?
And: I cannot find Baskerville in the system font folder at /System/Library/Fonts. Isn't it supposed to be there if Dictionary uses it?

Thanks for the explanation! Those separate font files are what I meant by "junk", but that is not really a good term in this case, they are just using a non-standard encoding which is potentially incompatible with the Unicode standard used by OS X. Lion's expanded Baskerville is the Unicode replacement for them.
It is quite common for OS X to get confused by fonts like that which map symbols to Latin instead of their correct Unicode assignments. Helvetica Fractions and Times Phonetic have caused similar problems for many users in the past. -
Confusion regarding Binary data and byte arrays
HI guys,
I have a question...i am going to send some binary data...the format of that data is that first two bytes is the lenght of the data and then follows that data. Here i have one confusion. e.g. i want to say that the lenght of my data is 1000 bytes. How do i do it.
coz if i do something like this.
int k = 1000;//the length of my data
String binaryString = Integer.toBinaryString(k);
byte[] binaryData = binaryString.getBytes();
and then if i say binaryData.lenght, i see a lenght of 10, as the binary string which
is generated is -> 1111101000. i guess its obivious as this byte array is nothing but perhaps a character array with each character occupying one thread...so what exactly is the difference between byte array and binary data. and in the above said condition how do i send the binary data?
Also adding to my confusion is the fact that i have a file which contains binary data, but that data is not 10010101 type of data...its just some absurd characters. How do we explain this.

That i know how to do? but The thing is that i want to write a binary stream. right? so in that the first two bytes should be the size of the data, followed by the data itself. So i want to write the first two bytes, which should contain the size of data (as a matter of fact i have that binary data in a byte array). But my question is , that if i say the size of data is 1000 (bytes , since, as i said i am gettting the data as a byte array), how do i write this in my binary stream as 1000 in this case would be an int. right? which is four bytes. So essentially that byte array (which contains binary data) i have to forward to somewhere, say X , but X reads binary data in the following way...it expects the first two bytes to give him info regarding the size of the data to follow and then it starts reading the data from the third byte onwards till the size of the data (which it got by reading first two bytes)...i hope i could communicate my confusion better this time

I had one confusion about the network carrier of which one to chose. Actually I do not know the difference between them. Are they related to some sort of sim cards? I would be grateful if anyone could help me to get away this confusion.
Unless we are in Bangladesh, nobody here can really help you with this. If you purchased the phone there, you need to do that research for yourself. You are the one who is there and on the spot so noone else can really help you with that.
You need to contact the available carriers in your area and see what the differences are for yourself.
The phone companies supply you with the appropriate sim cards when you take out a contract with them.
Also, where did you purchase the phone from in the first place and is it an unlocked phone? If the phone is not unlocked, then it won't work. -
Can someone please explain Voice Memos syncing?

I'm really, really, really confused about Voice Memos, and syncing them with iTunes. My setup is an iPhone 5, and a MacBook Pro Retina 13". My wife also has an iPhone, and we both sync them to iTunes on the Mac, including backing them up to the Mac, not iCloud backups. Since I signed up to iTunes Match not so long ago, I've noticed that the Voice Memos on the phones and iTunes are literally all over the place! And it's really confusing.
I assumed it was as simple as it really should be (whatever you record to the Voice Memo App on the iPhone simply gets added to iTunes whenever it's synced, and as you create more and more voice memos they just keep adding to somewhere in iTunes, along with the names you gave them when you recorded, or the name it's given by the App if you choose not to name it). It would be brilliant if that's how it worked, but for some reason it's incredibly confusing and complicated to work out where files are, why names change, why duplicate files appear, disappear, move altogether even!!?!!
There are literally so many questions I have about things I'm going to have to just list the main ones below and hope someone somewhere can shed some light for me!! I'm a songwriter by the way hence the large number of voice memo recordings.

The 3 main questions I have...
* If I name a recording on my phone then sync it, iTunes gives the file the same name (great!). Why then if I rename the file in the Music library in iTunes and sync the phone again does the name NOT change on my iPhone? Surely keeping things in sync across devices and software makes more sense than leaving older names on one thing and newer somewhere else?
* I have a list of Voice Memo recordings on my iPhone, that's the only place I've ever recorded the memos. So why, when I sync the phone, do those voice memos not just appear in one long list called Voice Memos under the "On My Device" list? I have a Voice Memos list that has about 13 voice memos on it, but on my iPhone there are hundreds... why aren't they all lumped in with the Voice Memos list? As I say I've only ever recorded these memos on my various iPhones all of which has been created from backups of the very first iPhone I had (3GS).
* Why do Voice Memos my wife has created on her iPhone appear in my Voice Memo App on my iPhone? At no point have I ever ticked anything she's recorded and asked it to appear on my phone? And similarly, why have 10's of my recordings appeared on her iPhone? Surely when you sync the individual phones they keep the Voice Memos separate to each phone?
* I have a list of voice memo recordings on my iPhone all named the same date and time, roughly 50 I'd say, yet they are all different previous recordings I've made. Any idea how this happened?
PS. I'm aware that the likelihood is it's some sort of user error, and this isn't all Apple's fault, so please be polite in your response, as I'm in no way "Apple bashing", I just want this one confusing area cleared up for me!Hi,
Many thanks for replying, but I'm not sure I've explained myself very well, or not enough for you to be able to understand the various problems I'm having. In answer to your questions;
1. Yes I understand that if I rename a voice memo in iTunes it then can't find the same file on the phone. I'm just wondering why that is the case? If I rename the file in the voice memo app on the phone it alters it when syncing to iTunes. So why not the other way round? Surely keeping things in sync not out of sync is the idea? If I alter a Note in my phone, then my Mac, then my iPad (the same Note) it renames it on all my devices keeping them in sync. Why is this not the case for voice memos? Or is there a setting I've not got right?
2. No we use the same iTunes account on my Mac. The iTunes accounts is signed in to my Apple ID only. The voice memos keep getting mixed up between phones. Yet nothing else does. The music we've synced, the apps we purchased individually, the ringtones, books, etc. They all stay separate across the two devices when syncing. But voice memos for some reason keeping moving across to each others phones. Why? -
Receiving, opening, saving attachments WARNING long post
In some ways, this post is more of a reminder to myself on how to deal with attachments that I've discovered so far and hopefully it will help some other confused souls. I'm betting that like most people on this forum, your interest in the Playbook is partly motivated by how you can quickly and easily access files on the run to review them and edit them minimally and quickly (oops! forgot to change the boss' title in the memo now!) without resorting to hauling out a laptop, waiting for it to start, load the relevant office program, and then hoping your hotel wifi is strong and stable enough to actually load up a bloated email client to download far too many attachments. If that's your circumstances are like mine, then the PB is clearly a work in progress. I thought that Apple's iPad method of dealing with document transfers was crippled at best; the PB is a quest in hide-and-seek.
Transferring media files (photos, movies, etc.). If you use Windows, I'm guessing you're doing okay. If you use a Mac like me, the BB Desktop will not work for such transfers. You can use wifi to bulk transfer media files from your Mac to the PB, but you lose the rich context (playlists, etc.) that you probably want.
Opening attachments in Mail within Bridge. This one confuses me, but I suppose it works best for the corporate world - maybe. If I open an attachment from an email in the PB Bridge from within Mail, I could select an attachment and tap to open it. The relevant app (Reader, sheet to go, word to go, etc.) opens up a new window and the document can be read. At this point in the RIM life cycle, any documents within Bridge are read-only and cannot be saved/edited, which of course defeats any aspirations of on-the-fly editing. Nonetheless, they are viewable and gloriously so. But it was not obvious to me where the documents were now. If I wanted to, say, review them later, where would I find them? The most rational place I thought they would be would be the Bridge Files icon. However, if I selected Playbook under Bridge Files, there did not seem to be anything, and if I selected BlackBerry smartphone, it was not obvious either. By chance, I muddled through and discovered that under the smartphone choice, if I drilled down through my SD card directory to BlackBerry to documents to Bridge (ah! that's new!) subfolders, I would find all my downloaded documents in this new Bridge folder which is supposedly on my smartphone. Distressingly, I cannot find this same subfolder "Bridge" on the SD card on the smartphone itself.
But this is the where we enter another dimension however! All of the above (2) ONLY seems to apply to emails sent to my GMail account that my BlackBerry - and therefore my PB - is also set up to receive within Mail in Bridge: given that I'm not an IT adminstrator, I'll just call them the non-corporate emails. If I open up an attachment from a message in Mail within Bridge that was sent through my usual corporate email system (in this case, Lotus Notes - yet another story), then the attachment ends up in SD card directory to BlackBerry to documents, but does not go into Bridge. I lack the knowledge or wisdom to fathom why this is different, other than it probably has something to do with the corporate side of things.
Opening attachments from Webmail (e.g. GMail). This one is also a bit bizarre. Although not very easy to find, at least all the attachments from (2) and (3) ended up in almost the same places on my smartphone SD card. But you cannot edit them. So what if I opened up via the web browser? GMail works quite well actually. When I tapped on an attachment to open it in GMail, it would bring me to a new pane and ask me to save it (Save "1"). It does not necessarily open it however and sometimes I would just get a new blank window. But if I swipe down from the top, I could see the downloads option, and choosing that would show me the attached document and an Open button. Opening it would load the document using the relevant app (e.g. Word to Go) and swiping down gave me another save (yes!) option (Save "2"). However, I had no idea where the attachment was saved. It does not appear under Media, any Bridge folder, etc. Assuming the attachment file type is associated with the app however, if you now open, say, Word-to-Go, well, there it is (finally!). So, the bizzarre thing is that the first save (Save "1") that you are prompted with does not seem to actually save it: only after the relevant app loads it and then you save it again (Save "2") does the attachment seem to actually get transferred to the Playbook's internal memory (somewhere). I cannot figure out the reason why you have to go through this double step. But at least now I can edit them. So maybe the solution is to mirror all my corporate emails to another service like GMail or Hotmail? (I can hear the collective gasps of the security minded types!)

This is maybe the ultimate compromise and combination of the above, and perhaps the situation most of us want to know about when we're on the go, get that ever important email about what was needed yesterday, don't have wifi access, but need to edit the attachment and cannot do it within the regular mail within Bridge. Dismally, this one is a fail - I get the error message "Bridge Browser: Cannot download corporate files."
After fumbling my way through an iPad and pretty much abandoning it for my workflow (although it is very good for other applications), I thought the Playbook would address almost of my needs, particularly since I've used a BlackBerry for the last six years. Personally, I think the PB hardware is fantastic, the form factor is great, and I do not care for or need 1000's of useless and trivial apps, but the implementation of what I consider core functionality is mediocre at best. I'm an academic - I'd grade the Playbook a C- (maybe even a D+ (ouch!) if I was in a grumpy mood).
In the interests of fairness, I recognize that some of the issues may simply be the way my corporate parent runs its business. I toil away under Lotus Notes and use a BlackBerry Bold, OS5, Rogers network, and a three year MacBook Pro.
If anybody has found other solutions or I've simply done something wrong, I'd love to hear. I think you're referring to my points (2) and (3) from my original post. In summary, this is what I THINK is happening.
On my BlackBerry Bold 9700, I have two email accounts, my corporate Lotus account, and my GMail account. There is one universal desktop that gathers both incoming emails into one so that I can view all messages at the same time. I imagine that the corporate server for this universal desktop therefore also have all these same messages because all the messages (GMail and Lotus) then show up in Mail via Bridge on my PB.
A. When in Bridge - Mail I open up an attachment in a mail that was received by my corporate Lotus account, the documents show up on my phone's SD card (I think you mean the memory card, not the SIM card for telecommunications). If I check my Playbook under Bridge Files -> Phone Icon -> BlackBerry/SDCard -> Documents, the attachments are there, and if I check my file manager on my phone, the same attachments are listed in the same subfolder. Interestingly, I was given the option to download them too.
B. When I open up an attachment in a mail that was received initially by my GMail account, the documents are not given the option to download. However, when I go to Bridge Files -> Phone Icon -> BlackBerry/SDCard -> Documents -> Bridge, the attachments from this GMail destined message are there! Weird, because I didn't create a Bridge subfolder on my phone's SD card, nor can I find a Bridge subfolder on the phone itself.
SORRY. I stand corrected. I just went into Bridge - Mail to double check and guess what... ALL of my email attachments no matter what account they were sent to originally (Lotus or GMail) if they are accessed through Bridge get dumped into this Bridge subfolder that is supposedly located on my phone's SD card (situation B). Maybe situation A was for when I downloaded the attachment to the phone first: I've gone back and forth with this so many times now...
Maybe this Bridge subfolder is a hidden folder tied to your phone so that if you lose your Playbook attachments cannot be accessed? But there seems to be no options to delete these downloaded files. UPDATE! Yes, I should have checked sooner. When you are accessing your phone, use the menu button to select "Show Hidden". It then displays the greyed out Bridge subfolder under Documents and you can then manipulate (e.g., delete) your files from there. This would make sense so that your files are as secure as possible via your phone. Still can't edit the attachments though...

HFM 11.1.2.3 Configuration - Issue with Consolidation Administration
Hi,
This is regarding a new/fresh installation EPM 11.1.2.3 and have an issue with configuration on HFM; the deployment is distributed as below
1) Server 1 : Foundation,WebLogic Admin(/OHS) - Workspace/Shared Services/Planning/Calc Manager/EAS/APS
2) Server 2: Essbase
3) Server 3 : EPMA/HSF/HFM(FDMee/DRM-Yet, to be installed and configured) - Hadnt used these products and this is totally new to me.
We have issues with HFM - and while opening the Consolidation Administration.
We get an error as below, in workspace
An unexpected error has occured.Check server log or contact your system administrator for more information.
The web app logs suggested below errors- This is only part of the error log

I hadnt configured 'Configure Cluster' during the HFM configuration; this was a mistake being new to HFM.
On a further readup online on OTN etc, found that an application cluster is a must have on HFM, even if it is for one server.
Have one confusion now for fixing this,
Do a configuration only for 'Configure Cluster', and restart services to fix this issue
or
Do a configuration for 'Configure Cluster'and then again re-Configure HFM components
Configure > Financial Management — Configure Cluster
Re-Configure > Financial Management — Configure Application Server
Re-Configure > Financial Management — Configure Web Server
Re-Configure > Financial Management — Configure Web Application
Re-Configure > Financial Management — Enable Smart View Provider
Re-Configure > Financial Management — Enable Life Cycle Management Provider
Re-Configure > Financial Management — Enable Web ServicesGot help from Oracle Support, and this problem is now resolved. The HFM app server was configured fine, earlier.
Had to follow below steps on the EPM configurator.
Stop Services
HFM - Configure Cluster
HFM - Configure Web Server
HFM - Deploy to App Server
Foundation - Configure Web Server.
Start Services
Refresh workspace

Mac Lion macbook pro, download pdf files fails, no error messages but work in Safari.
