One song from album classified as a movie (it's just a song)

For unknown reasons, one and only one song off an album of mine recently moved from being a song on the album to being a "movie" which shows up in my movie list.  There is no associated video, it's just a regular song.
I can still play the song from my Album list (though the title is greyed out).  I can also play it from the Movies list.   The file is a .m4p file, but for some reason it moved to the "Movies" subdirectory of the iTunes library.  Moving it back to where it belongs does nothing, I need to get iTunes to recognize that I want to move it, but have no idea how to do so.
Any tips?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks again, but no joy.
Doing the work only on my computer.  The file is not read-only.
As an experiment, I located the file in the "Movies" subdirectory and physically removed it (there's a copy where it belongs in Music/<artist>/<album>.  Trying to play it then (from the album's song list where it also appears), it couldn't find the file and asked me to locate it.  Once I did, it moved the file to the Movies directory and proceeded to play it.  It still thinks it is a video-less "movie".  Get Info reports the "Media Kind" as "Music" and does not allow me to change it (nor should I since that is correct).
I'm tempted to export the library in it's XML format, see if I can figure out how to fix it and then reconstruct the library from the XML.

    It's good for that . . .
But also I don't keep all my stuff in my Mac.
    But not for that.
This older and not day-by-day usage files I want to store in the time machine.
You can do that (see below), but how are you going to back them up?   If your only copies are on the TC, when (not if) it fails, you risk losing your only copy of the data.
Is it possible to split TC in two partitions.
No, but there are some workarounds, including making a fixed-size disk image on it to "reserve" some space.  See #Q3 in Using Time Machine with a Time Capsule.
But you still won't have backups of the stuff you put there.
You don't say what kind of Mac you have.  If it's a desktop model, just keep the external HD connected to it, and let Time Machine back it up along with your internal HD.
However, it sounds like you may have a laptop, where that's not going to be convenient.  In that case, your best bet might be to copy the external HD to a disk image on the TC as above, then keep the HD in a safe place.
To finish, when i enter the TC and go through the Time line how can I get a file from there and move it back to Mac hd.
Via the "Star Wars" display, per #15 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions.
You might also want to review the Time Machine Tutorial, and perhaps browse the rest of the FAQ.

I cannot access itunes from appletv to rent a movie. I just get the perpetual clock after clicking the verification ok box

You could try using the wifi only when you need it. This could cut down the number of times you will have to press OK. It won't fix it but it could help.

  • This one is very strange. One track from album won't import...

I have been trying to import a CD I own for a long time. I'd hoped that getting my new Mac might have solved this problem but...
The CD in question is fine,. it works and imports OK, in totality, in my partners account. It plays fine in my account. However when I try to import the album into my iTunes library every song except for one will import. The one song which won't import is my favourite from the album, sods law. I have tried every which way to import both the whole album and the single track on it's own to no avail.
I can delete the whole album and re-import it. During the import process iTunes tells me the track is being imported and goes through all the motions but when all is said and done the track does not appear anywhere in my iTunes library. Believe me I have searched for it both in iTunes and the Finder and it is not there! If you look in the folder in the Finder for the album every track is there correctly numbered etc. Except track 12 is skipped and ain't there, it goes from 11 to 13.
This is driving me up the proverbial wall. Please if anyone can offer any advice I will be very grateful...
    With Thanks in advance...

maybe a long shot but it won't hurt trying:
check if you have read & write permissions for your iTunes music folder. in finder, right-click on it and +get info+. unlock the little padlock (you may have to enter your admin password) and change the permission settings. next, click on the little gear-shaped icon and +apply to enclosed items+ like so
you may also give everyone read & write access. if this doesn't help, try the same on your iTunes folder (not just the iTunes music folder).
now try to import the track again.
if still no joy, this might be a workaround:
create a new admin user account on your machine, log into that, fire up iTunes there, and try importing the CD. if it works, move track 12 in the finder to <MacintoshHD>/users/shared.
log out and back into your usual account. in iTunes there, choose +add to library+ and navigate to the shared folder.

  • Deauthorizing one computer from another computer

I need to know how to deauthorize an individual audible computer account from a different computer. I've had two computers crash over the past couple years and the computer I'm using right now is the last of my 5 authorized computers. I need to know how to deauthorize the crashed computers so I am ready in case another computer crashes in the future. Thanks in advance.

You can't deauthorise computers you no longer have access to individually. However once you reach the limit of 5 authorisations you have the option to deauthorise them all in one go from your iTunes account and start over. *Just note that you can only use this option once a year*: About iTunes Music Store Authorisation and Deauthorisation

  • Is it a fact that with iOS 7 I can't delete albums from music, but have to do one song at a time?

So many updates...  Used to be able to delete an album by swiping to the right.  Now I only seem to be able to delete one song at a time by swiping left.  What's up?  I really can't detele whole albums anymore?

Photos transferred from your computer via the iTunes sync process are removed from the iPhone the same way. To remove all photos transferred from your computer, deselect Sync Photos under the Photos tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes followed by a sync.
If you want to remove an album only and you manually manage photo storage on your computer, move the folder of photos outside of the folder on your computer that is selected under the Photos tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes to be transferred to your iPhone followed by a sync.
To remove select photos, move the photos outside of the folder of photos on your computer that is selected to be transferred to your iPhone followed by a sync.
An album you created on your iPhone can be deleted direct from your iPhone.

  • TS1424 I just wanted to download ONE song Joy to the World from Merry Axemas album; the whole album had to be purchased, then the only song I really wanted to buy didn't fully download; rip-off; please fix ASAP

I need a refund of $8 bucks the Merry Axemas album cost because I just wanted one song that wouldn't download OR
just the one song in it's ENTIRETY instead of just half of it.
The beauty here is I only wanted one song but iTunes would NOT allow download of just one song making the user - ME- attempt to download the whole album which of course was short the ONLY song I desired downloaded.
Would you please remedy this situation pronto?

Please be aware that you are not communicating with Apple when you post in these forums. The people who will reply to your posts are, like me, in almost all cases your fellow users.
If the track you wanted was only available when purchasing the entire album, as I see most on that album are, then that was how the content owner insisted it be done and there's nothing Apple can do about it. If you then chose to purchase the entire album, that was your choice. It's unlikely that Apple will now refund your money on that basis.
As to a defective track, delete the problem track(s) from the iTunes library, allowing iTunes to move the track file(s) to the Trash. Then download the track(s) again from the iTunes Store via this procedure:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519
That fixes the problem for many people. If problems with the tracks persist, go here:
    iTunes Support
and follow the instructions to report the issue to the iTunes Store.
    Regards.

  • One song from an album I bought with iTunes hasn't downloaded, how can I get to it?

After purchasing and downloading an album, I noticed that one song from the middle of the album seemed not to have finished downloading. It was the same a day later, so I retarted iTunes thinking this would solve the issue. When I tried to play the album, that one song was missing. How can I download it again and hopefully avoid the same issue? Thanks.

Contact the iTunes Store customer support department through the form at the bottom of their web page and explain the problem to them. (apparently the UK support group handle the Portuguese iTunes Store).

  • I have two albums from the same Artist, I want to consolidate them, both downloaded via iTunes. I have Ellie Goulding's album and I downloaded one song from her EP but its on the album. I want the song to be part of the album so I can listen to the album.

So basically I want what it says in the title. I want to be able to listen to the full album as a continuous loop without it skipping the one song I downloaded from the EP. I can't delete then download the song from the album (I tried and it wont let me).

Generally setting a common Album title and Album Artist will fix things.

How do I delete one song or an entire album from my iTunes library?

Click on it from your library.  Press the delete key on your keyboard

  • How do I make new albums in photos and move picture from one album to another

How do I make new albums in Photos and move photos from one album to another

At the moment you can't - though it should be possible (if it makes it into the final release) in iOS 5 which will be available sometime in the Autumn. Photos cannot currently be moved between albums on the iPad.
If  you sync separate folders from your computer you'll get an album for each of them on the iPad, and you have to sync all the folders/albums that you want together as only the most recent photo sync remains on the iPad (not including a folder in a sync is the way that you delete it from the iPad).

  • After i have downloaded an album from iCloud to my new macbook pro. Itunes will only play one song at a time. If i hit the fast forward or back button will not do anything. I have to use the mouse to hit the next tidal in the album then hit play for it

after i have downloaded an album from iCloud to my new macbook pro. Itunes will only play one song at a time. If i hit the fast forward or back button will not do anything. I have to use the mouse to hit the next tidal in the album then hit play for it to play the next song. Or put it in the UP NEXT.

First, make sure these items have checkmarks next to their names in iTunes. Continuous playback only works on checked items. Itunes will play all checked items in a list whether or not they're from the same album.
If you see that nothing in your library is checked and you want to check everything, hold down Ctrl while checking an item. This checks everything.
Next, fixing the "1 of 1" problem is easily. Select all the tracks that make up the book/album. Let's say there are 15. Press Ctrl-I. Doublecheck that the album box is filled in with the name of the book, and if not, type it there. Enter "15" in the box for the total number of tracks. Click OK. Now all the items should be "1 of 15," "2 of 15," and so on.

  • Can't get iTunes to move from one song to the next

I'm using iTunes 7.3.1 on an iMac with OS X 10.4.10. Everything was working fine, but now I can't get the playlists to move automatically from one song to the next. All the songs play if I double click on them individually, but when a song is finished playing, iTunes does not move automatically to the next song. I have to then double click on the next song I want to play. Furthermore, neither the "next," nor the "previous" track functions work. I have tried fiddling with the control settings (Repeat Off, Repeat All, Repeat One), but nothing I have tried makes a difference. Bottom line: If I want to sit at my computer and hear a playlist on iTunes, I have to manually click on each song I want to hear. Not too convenient when I want to listen while walking on my treadmill! Anyone suggestions would be appreciated.
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

Have the tracks become unchecked? iTunes will skip unchecked tracks, so if they're all unchecked, iTunes will play one and then stop. If this is indeed the case, re-checkmark the tracks - Command-click on any checkbox will select or unselect them all - and you should then have continuous playback.
    Hope this helps.

  • TS1424 When downloading an album from itunes one song did not download properly and is cut off at the end, how to fix?

Downloaded John Mayer album bur one song is cut off at the end, how to fix??

Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting that song from your iTunes library and redownload it via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes : re-downloading.
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music or if it re-downloads in the state then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that song and use the 'Report a Problem' link.
