Only 1 of my 2 Thunderbolt displays restarts when coming out of sleep mode now that I have installed Mavericks

My setup:
Early 2011 Macbook pro
2 Thunderbolt monitors: one monitor connected to the macbook pro, the second monitor connected to the back of the first monitor
Everything worked great until I installed Mavericks. Since installing Mavericks, when my laptop comes out of sleep mode only the monitor that is connected to the macbook wakes up. The second monitor does not wake up.
In order to get the second monitor to wake up I have to either unplug the thunderbolt connection from the back of the first monitor and plug it in again or unplug the first monitor's thunderbolt connection from the macbook and then plug it in again.
I've tried changing the order of the monitors that are connected to the macbook and rebooting the machine as well. Nothing works. Help?

Okay thanks, but I am a newbie who is not a very tech kind of a person. The only periphals I have are a kodak camera dock, a Canon 310 copier/fax/scanner and a pair of altec speakers. How do I determine if they all have drivers for my MAC? They all seem to work okay, if that is a sign, though the Kodak camera Dock is a bit slow. How also do I determine if they are Apple energy compatible? With each of these peripherals, do I simply disconnect them from my MAC one at a time to see if there improvement?

Mac Display Flashes When Coming out of Sleep Mode

When my Macbook pro display is closed & Mac is in sleep mode and I open the display it will flash once (Not Flicker) before the log on screen comes on. Does anyone know why this is happening? Restart when coming out of sleep mode

I have an early 2006 core duo 20" iMac that has been rock solid. Normally it will go into sleep mode if left unattended for a lengthy time and I typically just hit the shift key when I return to the computer to bring it back from sleep.
This week on 2 occasions I have come back, hit the shift key and heard the restart chord and then watched the iMac restart, ending up at the login screen. The iMac is on a UPS which did NOT beep to tell me it has lost power, nor did any of the other stuff in the house indicate a loss of power, so no explanation of why the iMac had to start up. Also I can not understand how hitting the shift key could get it to initiate the start sequence anyway.
It has been unusually hot and humid here (30 degrees C and 65%) but that is probably nothing compared to where some people live and operate, and at no time have I heard the fans even ramp up to cope with the raised external temperature.
My searches here for a similar occurrence did not find anything exactly the same.
Any thoughts?

I would reset the iMac's SMC exactly as described in the following article, then bypass the UPS and test it for a day or so with the iMac plugged into only a surge protector.

Display is all snow coming out of Sleep mode

Just replaced a 17" LCD (using the mini-DVI-to-VGA) with a new Acer 24" widescreen LCD (using mini-DVI-to-DVI). After a little fiddling with the profile, I've got a pretty nice picture. Problem: coming out of sleep mode, the screen is all snow. If I pop the monitor off and on, everything comes back normal. I did NOT have this problem with the older 17". This is more of an annoyance than a major issue, since just a couple of hits of the on-off button correct it. But it ain't right, so I'm hoping I can fix it for good. It happens whether the Mini goes to sleep by itself or if I put it to sleep. I don't know if it's a DVI issue, monitor issue, or something goofy with the Mini's video.
I did a search and found similar issues, but not exactly the same, and saw no suggested resolutions that fixed them. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

The 9400M device driver on our Macs appears to be really bad.
My buddy tried to put a Sharp LCD projector on the external port on his Mac laptop, which also had a Nvidia 9400M, and it was not usable. The picture kept coming and going. The projector screen would go blank, then a picture would come up, go blank, and then the picture would come back again, over and over. Being an experienced Mac, PC, and Linux user, I attempted to help him get it working using the display properties page in the System Preferences. Nothing helped.
I'm having similar troubles with the second port on my 9400M on my new Mac mini.
The primary display is fine. I have a 24" Acer LCD on the miniport to DVI converter for my second display, and it works most of the time, however the picture goes to snow fairly often, and blacks out sometimes, too. It usually comes back. Occasionally, I have to power cycle the LCD to get the picture back.
Seeing similar problems with two different DVI display devices, when these devices work fine on our PCs, seems to point the problem at the Mac Nvidia display driver.

Imac and Forced to Restart after Coming out of Sleep ModeI

I am having an intermittent issue on an with an iMac, last generation G4 lampshade, and 10.4.6.
I upgraded the machine with the combo update. At certain times when the machine comes out of sleep mode. I am forced to restart the machine. I get a dialog box for this.

I have tried both remedies mentioned above. I double-checked and my network is listed in the wireless advanced settings. It's the only network in my list. Airport is at the top in my Network Preferences as well.
I was hoping the update to 10.5.8 would help but the problem keeps occurring. One thing I have tried is leaving the "Closed Network Option" unchecked for my AE. Now, I am discovering when exiting sleep mode, I see my network but when it tries to connect, I receive the error "Connection Timeout". This happens on both computers.
The only thing that works the most consistently is unplugging the AE and plugging back in. Once I'm connected, it works great.
I tried using iStumbler to see if there were any other networks using the same channel but that looks okay.
I guess I can try using a different security setting other than WPA2, but then that is not really a solution. I'm about ready to just try some other newer wireless solution. It used to work flawlessly. I think until 10.5.4, I had no issues.

Open tabs used to open upon restart or coming out from 'hibernate'. Now, just the home page opens and others were forgotten. How to fix this?

I don't recall changing anything that would have caused this to happen suddenly. It is frustrating to me because I open a lot of tabs and sometimes can't finish reading or ordering or studying what I need, so I like to leave them open until I can get to them. This is especially disconcerting when, for example, an open tab is lost that contained a half-completed order form that took hours of decision making and note taking to decide what to order. Thank you very much for your help. I was confused because I already had the 'Show my windows and tabs from last time' selected but it had no effect. I found that hundreds of people were complaining about how stupid this change was that inconvenienced so many...they seemed to be able to work out a fix, and maybe their complaints were heard because when I just now upgraded to Firefox 9 the problem doesn't happen...BUT - I still have the problem upon starting FF after logging off my computer. If I EXIT and restart FF, the tabs I was using do show again. If I lof off and restart FF, tabs are NOT saved. Can you help? I can't stay logged on to my computer but NEED to save my tabs. Thanks!!

What do i need to do if my iphone 4s restarts when i attempt to crop a photo that i have print screened?

This doesn't happen all the time, only with selected print-screens. I press the crop icon and my phone screen turns black, then the loading sign comes up, and finally the apple sign emerges.

New 27" Thunderbolt Display Flickers when attached to new 27" iMac

I'm using a new 27" iMac. I require a dual-monitor configuration so yesterday I purchased a new 27" Thunderbolt display and plugged its built-in Thunderbolt cable into the Thunderbolt port of the iMac. I now have a huge desktop space that spans two monitors. With that in mind…
At least once every few minutes the new Thunderbolt display blacks out (i.e. flickers) for approximately one second. The symptom is very similar to what a Windows-attached display does when the screen resolution is changed. A quick Google search indicates others are experiencing the same problem although most complainants are using a MacBook or Mini, not an iMac.
Apple posted a firmware update for the Thunderbolt display a few days ago. I installed it successfully but the problem remains. Any advice?

UPDATE:
I received a call back from a senior tech at Apple. The salient points are as follows:
(1) Apple engineers are well aware of the problem.
(2) They plan to release a firmware update for the display at some indeterminate time.
(3) The fix for this problem will not be bundled into the forthcoming 10.7.2 Lion update.
Given that the flickering problem renders the Thunderbolt monitor virtually unusable as a desktop extension for a 27" iMac, combined with the fact that Apple has no idea when a fix for the problem will be available, my decision to return the monitor for a full refund is a virtual certainty.
AppleCare objected to my conclusion that the Thunderbolt monitor is "incompatible" with the iMac. Perhaps they're right. I'm not super technical so it's possible that I used the wrong term. It's a semantic distinction though. The bottom line is that Thunderbolt displays flicker when attached to a brand new 27" iMac and my personal opinion is that one is better off not purchasing this device until Apple fixes this major flaw.

Display issue coming out of sleep (w/ external display)

Hey everyone,
I've a MacBook Pro with Retina display. running 10.8.2 (and Win7 x64, via Bootcamp).
I somtimes experience trouble coming out of sleep with no external display connected, if the MacBook was connected to an external display when I sent it to sleep and the integrated display's brightness was turned all the way down. Basically, the MacBook's integrated display won't light up. I then need to hold down the power button until the machine powers off, and start it up again. Only then will the display come on, and the machine start normally.
I've been observing this with both an external Thunderbolt Display, and a TV connected through the HDMI port. I don't think this is a Mac OS issue, as I've seen similar behavior on this same machine, running Windows, under Bootcamp.
An example scenario: I'll be using the Thunderbolt Display, or watching a movie on my TV, with the integrated display's brightness turned all the way down, and then, while the display is still connected, I will close the lid - The machine will go to sleep. I will then come the next day, and while the computer is asleep, disconnect the external display, and open the lid. The MacBook's integrated display will not light up, the brightness keys will not respond, and I will need to force-shutdown the machine, and start it again - it will then start up, and usually fall back to the lowest display resolution setting (even though I always use much higher resolutions on both the integrated and external displays).
I'm guessing this is happening because the computer is expecting the external display that was connected to it, during its last operation, to still be available, and when it's not - it panics!
Also, I had times where this happened, and a force-shutdown would not do the trick. I had to actually connect back to the external display, wait for the machine to start normally, take the integrated display's brightness back up, and disconnect the external display. The machine would then resume normal operation, and I would be able to disconnect the external display and work on the integrated display.
Has anyone else experienced this, or anything similar?

Not detecting external display after waking up MBP from sleep mode

I am a recent owner of a MBP and enjoying it. However, one problem that I can't seem to find a solution to is the external display problem after sleep mode.
When I first boot up the Mac and plug in my Dell external monitor via the mini adapter, there is no problem with detection or display. However, every time I put the MBP in sleep mode and then wake it up again, the external monitor does not "wake" up and my MBP only displays my normal screen on the Mac.
I tried to 'Detect Displays' to no avail and the only solution is unplugging the mini connection and plugging it back into the MBP for the MBP to re-detect the external monitor.
Although this is a quick fix in itself, I do not want to wear out the mini port by doing this every timeI come out of sleep mode. Any solutions so that the external monitor will detect the MBP waking up from sleep and display properly? Thanks!

And same problem here.
Using a MBP 2.66 i7 with a Dell 3008WFP that's connected to the MBP through DisplayPort. It works some of the time but once in a while (only been using the new MBP for a couple of days now) the monitor won't come out of sleep mode. Turning it off/on causes OS X to completely ignore the monitor. I was able to get this setup to work again by pressing 'Detect Displays' in the System Preferences pane but most of the times that doesn't help. The only sure way to get the monitor working again is by booting into Windows through Bootcamp, Windows is able to use the monitor, if I reboot after that OS X sees the monitor again.
Also saw a magenta line/stripe on the left side of my monitor and the monitor sometimes makes a buzzing sound when connected to the MBP through DisplayPort. That's what you get by using bleeding edge tech I guess :\ Only alternative is buying the mini-DP to dual-DVI connector but paying $99 just to be able to use an external monitor is rather insane. Besides that lots of users are having problems with this adapter.

As far as I could see - only once. All morning I have had trouble with connecting to my WiFi. I blame AppleSupport who were trying to help me with a totally different problem and they asked me to "Reset" my iPad - and I lost my Wifi connection and had a huge amount of trouble getting back on. Repro Steps:
1.Navigate to any page that virtual keyboard will be used.
2.Use your finger slide on virtual keyboard to make it in Column mode.
3. Hide the virtual keyboard in Column mode.
4.Tap on any field to use the keyboard again.

Will the Thunderbolt Display work when I close the lid?

I have a 2012 Macbook Pro. I'm thinking about buying the Thunderbolt Display, but only if it can simulate a desktop and I can close the lid of my Macbook. I'm asking this because I know it goes to sleep when closed and was wondering if the Display makes it work differently. thanks.

Works great and how I do 90% of my computing.
I use a usb wireless keyboard with the receiver plugged in to the back of the TBD. When the laptop is asleep press the space key once or twice to wake up the display (be patient, doesn't work as fast as you think it should). I use a screenlock password, so enter it and we're working!
One note: if the computer is turned off you can not turn it on from the keyboard. You'll have to open the laptop, turn it on, and once you hear the chime you can close the laptop and you're gtg.

My Thunderbolt Display will not wake up from sleep!

I have a 13" MacBook Pro on 10.8.4 Mountain Lion. When I hit the space bar to wake up my laptop, the Thunderboly Display stays black! Unplugging the display cable and plugging it back in solves the issue, but then it consolidates my open windows! REALLY ANNOYING!
There's also been 2 or 3 times when that didn't work and I had to shut the computer down and disconnect the power from the ThunderBolt display... Any cure for this nonsence?

I only had that problem once - and unplugging the Display from power and lugging it back in solved the problem for good.
Sine that's not working for you, you may be having a problem with the TB cable itself. If I were you, I would take the computer and Display to your local Apple Store/AASP and have them diagnose the problem. Again, I suspect that it's the TB cable, but I could be wrong...
