  • Apple ID for app updates does not match new Apple ID cannot get updates

Can someone tell me how to get the Apple ID for app updates to match new changed Apple ID?
I can get new apps with new ID but not updates....old ID shows up and will not accept password.

Your advice is to change my Apple ID again?
No I gave you a link to try to get a new password to work with the old Apple ID.
And are you saying that I will not be able to access any updates for apps that were acquired under the original Apple ID and password?
I am saying that the only way to update apps acquired with the old Apple ID is with the old Apple ID. You cannot update them with a new Apple ID.

  • When starting up Mail 7.3 does not provide a New Message window

When starting up Mail 7.3 does not provide a New Message window as it always used to? Have I inadvertently turned something off?

OOPs! My mistake; I meant New Viewer Window!
The problem is that if I close the Mail window but leave Mail running in the background, the next time I click on Mail in the Dock, I do NOT get the New Viewer Window, just the Mail Menu on the Menu Bar. If I Quit Mail in that state and then start it up from the Dock, I also get on the Mail Menu.
If, however, I Quit Mail when the Viewer Window is open, it will open up again with the New Viewer Window visible.
In the past, I got the New Viewer Window whenever I clicked Mail in the Dock.
Changing settings in System Preferences / General  doesn't make any difference.
Not a huge problem, just an annoyance. Ran Permissions Repair; no change in the issue.
Thanks for your response / attempt to help. Sorry again for the mistaken Window name.

  • Safari not providing rss news anymore

    Hello all
One day, Safari stop providing news in my rss feed.
I didn't happen because of an update, it didn't happen because of a computer clean-up or anything. One morning, I was waiting for my daily rss and nothing came in.
Since that time, everytime I subscribe to a rss feed I get a "no news" screen. The thing is, I can see the rss in Safari until I subscribe. But what's the point if I can't subscribe ?
I know the rss feed work, I tried on a powerbook at home it's working fine.
I tried to reset safari, clear the cache, etc. Nothing to it. Still having the problem. I don't want to use an external rss reader. I'm not a big rss user, I just like to read the news once a day and it's good to have it directly in my most used software.
I had the problem before Safari 4 and still have it with it.
Am I the only one in this position ?

    Hi
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
Sounds like a corrupt RSS file.
Via the Finder: Your User Account>Library>PubSub folder, move the clients.plist file to the desktop, then restart Safari. Give it up to 30 minutes to allow the RSS feeds to start populating.

  • Iweb is not provided with the new version of AIR?

I just purchased new version of AIR, seems the iweb and idvd is not provided with the ilife. How can I get one?

It is now apparent that iWeb, and iDVD, will no longer be supported by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.
iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
    ◼ Password protection
    ◼ Blog and photo comments
    ◼ Blog search
    ◼ Hit counter
All of these issues can be solved with 3rd party options.
I found that if I published my site to a folder on my hard drive and then uploaded with a 3rd party FTP client subscriptions to slideshows and the RSS feed were broken.  If I published directly from iWeb to the FPT server those two features continued to work correctly.
There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows.  Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.
However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone.  How to is described in this tutorial: #26 - How to Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.
Apple has announced that iLife is now an unsupported product and those iApps will only be available thru the App Store from now on. However, the boxed iLife 11 at the online Apple Store (Store button at the top of the page) and those still on the shelves of retailers will include iWeb and iDVD. Those two apps were listed in small, gray text on the iLife 11 box that I bought. Personally, if I already didn't have a copy I would purchase one to have it for reinstallation purposes if ever needed.

  • Aspire V3-571 not providing connected signal to monitor in power save

I recently reconfigured a number of my systems, and ended up with an Acer monitor on my Acer Aspire - the monitor had previously been used with a Dell laptop. You would think two Acer products would work better together, but it's actually slightly worse. When an external monitor is used with VGA, there are three states: the computer is driving video down the wire, the cable is connected but the computer is not sending video, and cable disconnected. The monitor can recognize these states and behave accordingly. The middle state, when the computer is either in power save mode or turned off, is the problem. In such a case, the monitor should simply blank the screen and go into its own power save mode - which it did with my Dell. With the Aspire, the monitor goes into disconnected cable mode (where it displays a moving error message forever) as soon as power save kicks in and the laptop stops sending video. This is no big deal when the laptop is off, since I can just turn off the monitor and save some electricity. But it's really annoying when the computer is on. This is especially true since this same monitor worked perfectly well with the Dell laptop. So the Acer machine is not providing a "proper" signal for some reason. My question is - does anyone know of some configuration option on the Aspire that will cause it to send a signal that the monitor will recognize as power save when the laptop is in that state - or off? Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. Good suggestion about checking for new drivers - always useful. Alas, there were none, but it did give me a chance to revisit the VESA DPMS spec that governs such things. Described well here:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VESA_Display_Power_Management_Signaling I had forgotten that there were two intermediate levels (HSYNC on VSYNC off and the opposite). Obviously On and Off are seen by the monitor, with the latter interpreted as cable disconnect. I just don't seem to get one of the other states from the Aspire like I did from the Dell. The Intel HD4000 chipset in the Aspire claims to support DPMS, it just isn't working the way it worked with the Dell. That machine uses an older Intel graphics chipset. Once I had an oscilloscope in my garage and I could have looked at the pins to see what is being sent to the connector. No longer. I guess I just live with this unless a new driver shows up, or someone comes up with another solution.

  • My computer will not install new version of itunes

I have uninstalled the new version and my computer will not install

I suspect there is information you are not providing.  I do not think it is possible to uninstall iTunes on a newer Mac running Lion or later.  If you truly uninstalled it you must be running an older computer and you may be trying to reinstall a version not compatible with that computer.  Alternatively, you did not really uninstall iTunes but did remove some other component that has stopped it from working.
Get more information about your computer. Go to the Apple in the upper left corner of any window, then  "About This Mac".  Write down what it says about "version"and report that here.  Now continue to "More Info..."  Copy and paste the information here, but omit the serial number and Hardware UUID (if present).

  • Weird problem-w/ aol mail,i can recieve and reply, but can not send new mail

everything is set up, i read the instructions on that site to help me set it up, im recieving mail, and i can even reply, but when i try to send new mail it rejects the smtp. outgoing mail server...any suggestions?

Does resetting include deleting and recreating the AOL SMTP server?
Deleting an SMTP server requires selecting Edit Server List from the SMTP server selection pop-up menu.
ISP is short for Internet Service Provider. Are you using AOL as your ISP for connecting to the internet?
Unless AOL is used as your ISP, your ISP may have made recent changes regarding the use of SMTP servers that are outside of their network. Most, if not all ISPs have restrictions regarding the use of SMTP servers outside of their network on Port 25. Using Port 587 usually resolves any such restrictions but some ISPs block the use of all SMTP servers outside of their network regardless. These restriction are in place as part of an overall effort to prevent or reduce spam eminating from the ISP's domain.
Since you have switched back and forth between every option available, I suggest deleting and recreating AOL's SMTP server first (if you haven't already done so) and if this didn't work, deleting and recreating this AOL account in Mail.
If neither works and AOL is not your ISP used for connecting to the internet and you are accessing an email account and SMTP server provided by your ISP, try selecting/using your ISP's SMTP server to send mail with your AOL account.
If this works, I would contact your ISP's technical support to inquire about any recent changes implemented regarding the use of SMTP servers outside of their network or put in another way, using an SMTP server that is not provided by your ISP.
The last resort is targeting the Mail.app preference file which stores all account information and general Mail.app preferences.
I try to avoid saying never in regards to computers but I doubt your hard drive replacement has anything to do with this.

  • Can any one tell me how to install flash player on powerbookg4.i actully uninstall it to upgrade it but now i can not install new one.it always says get flash player for powerpc when i try to install it after downloading.it is 10.5.8 version

can any one tell me how to install flash player on powerbookg4.i actully uninstall it to upgrade it but now i can not install new one.it always says get flash player for powerpc when i try to install it after downloading.it is 10.5.8 version

Flash Player version 10.1.102.64 is the last version available to PPC Mac users. However, this Flash version won't work for many videos on Facebook, YouTube and other sites. Adobe's latest version, 10.2.x or later, is only for Intel Macs. Adobe will not provide a newer Flash version for PPC Macs.
The message requesting that you download Adobe Flash Player takes you to Flash Player requiring an Intel processor. Doesn't work on a PowerPC processor. I found a hack, installed it & it works with Firefox, TenFourFox & Safari.
Download this http://www.steelbin.com/FPforFBPPC.zip to your desktop, unzip it, and replace the current Flash Player plug-in which is in your main/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, (not the user Library). Save the old one just in case this one doesn't work.

  • DHCP not providing option 252 since upgrade to 2008 R2

We have been using DHCP option 252 to provide details of the WPAD.DAT file for proxy auto config for the past 4 years and it has been working well. We recently upgraded (replaced)
out DC from an old W2k3 server to a 2008 R2 server.
The DHCP options were identical as we exported them from the one server and imported them to the new server, but since the change over we have not been able to go proxy auto config to work.
The clients (combination of XP and Win7) don’t even seem to be trying to access the file.
It appears that the DC is not providing the details to the clients.
Has anyone got proxy auto config working with a 2008 R2 DHCP server?
I have been working on this for a couple of weeks and we know the web server side is working fine.
I have tried removing option 252 and recreating it, but that does not help.
    Any ideas?
    Steve

    Hi Steve J B  ,
    Thanks for posting here
Please check if this issue could be resolve on XP client with the article below:
953761  Some DHCP Options are not recognized on a Windows XP SP3-based client computer when the DHCP server offer includes option 43
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;953761
If this problem continues , then please capture packet while the client requests an IP address from the DHCP server by Wireshark and filter the result with filter
    string “ bootp.options.type == 252  ”
Meanwhile, please following workaround to configure DNS to set the Proxy Autodiscovery information.
To implement web proxy auto-discovery in your environment, refer to the following steps:
    1.
Enable "Automatically detect settings" in IE.
    a)
In IE window, click "Tool"-->"Internet Options".
    b)
On "Connections" tab, click "LAN settings".
    c)
In "Local Area Network (LAN) Settings" window, ensure "Automatically detect settings" is checked.
    2.
Add "WPAD" record in DNS server:
    a)
    Start the DNS snap-in.
    b)
In the console tree, click your server name, and then click Forward Lookup Zones.
    c)
Right-click the forward lookup zone that you want to support Web Proxy client Autoconfiguration, and then click New Alias.
    d)
Type wpad in the Alias name box.
    e)
Type in the Fully Qualified Domain Name(FQDN) of the proxy server computer's internal interface. Use the Browse button to minimize the chance of making an error.
NOTE : The proxy Server computer must already have a Host (A) address record before you create an Alias (CNAME) record.
    f)
    Click OK.
And please post the result after following above settings.
The following are the details of how the Web Proxy Auto-Discovery (WPAD) works with DNS server for you reference:
    1.
With the auto detect setting enabled, when IE starts and tries to access a website, it will try to detect the proxy server.
    2.
The computer will send DNS name query for the name "WPAD". If a record called "wpad" is added to the DNS server, DNS server will respond with the IP address of that name and then client
will try to access http://wpad/wpad.dat. If client locates the server through
DNS, only the default port 80 will be used and we cannot specify any other ports.
    3.
Client will find the proxy server from the wpad.dat file after getting the file by accessing the URL:
http://wpad/wpad.dat. At last, the client will send the request to the proxy server
    to access the website.
    Thanks.
    Tiger Li

  • Time Capsule, DHCP not providing correct gateway address

I have gone back and forth between my AP Extreme and Time Capsule and have determined that Time Capsule is not providing the proper gateway address to my wireless clients. Instead of providing the correct gw address it provides the address I assigned the base station. This is contrary to my Airport Extreme which provides the proper gw address to my wireless clients. Sounds like a bug in the DHCP base station software. Any thoughts?

I have a very similar problem. I originally had cable broadband and a Airport Extreme (AE) upgraded to 7.3.1 all worked fine. The AE was being used as a DHCP server to distribute the dynamic IP address provided by the ISP. I then replaced the AE for a Time Capsule (TC) and installed a new 802.11n Airport Express. I upgraded the TC and AExpress to 7.3.1. The TC was setup identically to the now replaced (disconnected and switched off) AE.
Unfortunately the TC failed to work as a DHCP server. It did not recognize the ISP provided dynamic IP address and replaced it with an 'Invalid' IP address which of course meant no internet access. I then replaced the TC with the original AE (identically set up) and all worked fine, including the AExpress.
While I wait for Apple to fix the TC firmware I am running the AE as the DHCP Server and the TC as a wireless bridge to the AExpress. Time Machine is recognizing Time Capsule and backups from two macs are working fine.
