ONS15454 Ethernet Circuit Creation Problem

We are attempting to create an STS-3c Ethernet circuit between 2 nodes that both have the E100T-12-G Ethernet cards on an OC-48 ring. We know there is the limitation of 12 total STS's that can be created on each of the E100T cards. Node A has (6) STS-1 circuits provisioned, while Node B has (5) STS-1 circuits and (1) STS-3c circuit, for a total of 8 STS's. During the circuit creation, the Ethernet card in Node A does not show up as an available card, while Node B ethernet card does show up as an available card. Oddly enough Node B has more STS's on it than Node A but for some reason Node A's card cannot be provisioned.
Why does this card not show up while trying to create an STS-3c circuit? If we change the circuit type to STS-1, then it does show up as an available card.
Any ideas?

May you verify the card works in a port-mapped or single switch mode? Multicard EtherSwitch limits bandwidth to STS-6c.
Otherwise you may need to delete all the circuits and re-provision them again starting with 3c. That is due to the card limitation which is described in “CSCse84101 Port-mapped e100 does not allow create STS-1 with 2 STS3cs present”. That is not going to be resolved hence we need to follow the creation rule.

Ethernet Circuit/XCVT Limitations?

We are running a 20 node, ONS-15454 SONET ring, OC-48, with XCVT and the E100T-12-G Ethernet cards in each node.
One node currently has 3) STS-1 Ethernet circuits provisioned to it and we wanted to add 4)new STS-3c circuits. The first two were created with no problem but when the 3rd was being created, the option to select the Ethernet card slot was no longer available, only the OC-48 cards. We are able to create 3 new STS-1 circuits, with no problems, but no STS-3c.
Are we simply maxing out our cross-connect/XCVT? Is there some limitation on the E100T-12-G cards? Will upgrading to the XC10G remedy the problem?

As a follow-on to "tphelps" comments, the E-Series card's bandwidth is limited to a maximum of STS-12 to the backplane. As was earlier stated, restrictions required circuits to be created in a specific order, per the notice url provided below (I would assume the restrictions are still valid in newer SW).

Depending on the type of Ethernet circuits you are trying to carry across the optical network (pt-to-pt, shared packet ring), you may want to consider using the newer CE-series, G-Series or ML-series Ethernet cards. The E-Series cards are of an old design and have been EoL'd.

I can't stand peremptory affirmations like "Nothing is wrong with Safari".

In this very case, the fact is we can't give to "christinefromfonthill" a good solution because weren't sitting in front of her Mac.
You give her a good advice which could, perhaps, lead to an improvement.
But must also admit that Safari is a very slow browser compared to Firefox or Chrome.
And you can't ignore all the problems which arose when upgrading to Lion and were related to the new build and specs of Safari 5.1.
The best example is the apparition of "garbage type" (use of Last Resort font) when reading numerous sites. This never occured before and is the direct consequence of Safari compliance to Web Open Type. This standard prohibits the use of Type 1 Postscript Fonts and is the reason why so many people are in trouble.

I am a very "clean" user who hates the bells and whistles of third party.
My Mac is always up-to-date and despite all my Mac loving care, I run into some problems.
Imagine the nightmare which can occurs for the vulgum pecus who isn't, by definition, a power user aware of all the requirements for running a System in optimal conditions.
May be Safari is one step in advance on its time but lambda users are paying the price for it.

Will Ethernet fix my problem?

There is a saga to this, but I will cut a long story short and just say, up till last week I was using a USB BT Voyager modem to connect to the internet with my G4 iMac!!! I have now treated myself to a Macbook pro so want to go wireless. I've moved to Toucan as my ISP and they have sent me a USB Speedtouch modem!! Their 30p/min "technical support" tell me that no USB modem will work with OS X 10.4.5 (yeah! Right!) but that I need to get an ethernet modem!! I have already bought a Belkin wireless router (it was a bargain & also has printer server!), and was planning to get a cheap ethernet modem to connect to it, but the only cheapy I can find is a BT Voyager 205 modem!!! Will the fact that this is ethernet fix my problems or am I still risking walking into BT v Mac ****??!?!

No you can use the router I even gave you a link of a modem that is compatible with your router. I was pointing out that you could have had a simpler solution with 1 box.

It is ok to have an ethernet modem to go with your router. There are advantages to this kind of setup that an ADSL router does not have.
If for example you switched sometime in the future to Cable then you could just swap the ethernet adsl modem and plug your cable modem into your router. This would have no impact on your network as nothing would change. Your mac's network settings would remain the same.

ONS 15454 Circuit Provisioning Problems

We have two ONSes that we are attempting to connect to a ring provided by a major carrier (that employs 7 ONSes running 4-pair BLSR OC-192) They are handing off three OC-48 circuits to us to transport data/voice between our corporate site and an off-site data center (located about 50 miles away).
The purpose for our ONSes is to allow me to provision new circuits on the fly between the two sites. So if someone needs a new GIG-E connection between sites, or a DS3 or whatever, I just throw it in the ONS and off they go.
Anyhow, the issue is this. They have provisioned STS-48c circuits that they hand off to me. The physical links between ours and their ONSes come up just fine.
The first issue that I had to overcome was to teach the carriers tech how to create a DCC Tunnel so that my ONSes would see each other without seeing the carrier's network.
(Of course we didn't want to do SDCC with them). As soon as he provisioned the
overhead circuits between the OC-48 ports my ONSes could see each other just fine.
Once they were communicating, I attempted to create an STS-12c circuit to connect two GIG-E ports across. The circuit creation was successful, but the GIG-E ports showed TPTFAIL, and the carriers ONS reported LOP-P, and of course no data would transfer. I troubleshot my GIG-E links with loop-back mode and determined they were clean.
So I then nuked the 12c circuit and built a full 48c circuit to connect the GIG-E ports. Lo and behold, the circuit came up just fine! The network devices (6513s) attached to the GIG-E ports could communicate perfectly.
I then nuked this circuit and tried to go back down to a 24c, 12c, and 3c, all to no avail. It appears that the carriers configuration of their OC48 that they are dropping to us will ONLY allow a full STS-48c circuit to be created between my ONSes.
Obviously this is useless, and I want to be able to create small circuits to run voice and data across on demand. What's the point of burning an entire 2.4Gbps STS-48c on a GIG-E connection that can only do ~800Mbps max?
In talking to the carrier tech, he says that they will have to match circuit for circuit those that I provision on my side. I don't believe this since I don't feel the tech has depth of knowledge on the ONS and I talked to our Cisco SE who communicated with the ONS TME and he ensures me that this is not the case, that there is a proper configuration that the carrier can build to allow me to be able to perform dynamic circuit creation.
The TME was not willing to talk directly to me and wants the carrier to go up their chain
for help. (Understandable.)
I've contacted TAC about the issue, but Level 1 doesnt have much to say on this one. They dont even have any documentation to refer me to.
Their only suggestion is to ask the carrier to provision 48 STS-1 circuits between the OC-48 cards. They hope that doing this will allow me to create whatever circuits I want on the fly.
Does this sound like the correct method to anyone?
I am anxious to get this circuit up and want to help the carrier figure out how to set it up correctly. (On a side note, we have two different ONSes that we hook to an OC-48 from a different carrier that works perfectly (but they use Lucent equipment in the middle), so I know it can be done.)

When your carrier provided you with an STS-48c, the only circuit that you could have created was an end-to-end STS-48c circuit.You already had that figured out. The reason the ciruit came up when you configured STS-48c was because the carrier configured an STS-48c pipe from one end to the other.
Hypothetically, if you owned all the nodes - you would be able to pick your SOURCE node and DESTINATION node, click CREATE and the management software would create the necessary pass-through circuits (concatenated or otherwise) in all intermediary nodes.
By breaking it out into single STS-48's you would be able to configure your DS3's and STS-1 sized circuits on the fly over the carrier's network. The carrier doesn't care what is coming in or going out on each STS-1 or STS-Nc, but the carrier should be aware that you are sending a concatenated channel over the backbone, so that they can have a STS-Nc circuit built to support it. In short, you may have to work with the carrier while creating concatenated channels but DS3's and STS-1's should work fine.
I have a customer with a similar scenario, infact they traverse two different carriers, but they are only using one STS-1 for their shared packet ring scenario and it works fine.

HP Officejet 4500 Ethernet / Wifi Driver Problem (blank fields) with Office 2013

I have an Officejet 4500 (Ethernet) and I have exactly the same problem as lots and lots of HP Printer owners!
Everytime I try to print on Office 2013 + Win 8 64-bit, the Printer window comes with strange "Asiatic" symbols, and not the original language (Portuguese or English, I tried both). (Note: my father has exactly the same printer I have and he already had some problems also on Win 7 + Office 2010, then I deleted all HP drivers, installed again and it solved the problem)
I already tried the menus you people talk about but in my model I do not have such options. I already installed everything again and again...and always the same problem! With another printer from another company I have no problems with the drivers on Office, so it must be from HP Drivers that do not get along with Office 2013!!! Please update them as soon as possible...

Kernel 3.0.4-1 with sky2 ethernet driver - VLAN problem

after installing kernel 3.0.x (any) VLANs stopped working on sky2 driver. Althoug I can add VLAN to interface, i can't ping anything. Tcpdump does not register any traffic on tagged interface.Of course normal (untagged) traffic works without any problems. Everything was fine with 2.6.39 kernels. Under kernel26-lts (2.6.32) everything works perfect.

Process order creation problem

I am creating a process order . while creating the process order system is throwing error as Auto batch numbering not set up for material type XXXX in plant xxxx . System is not allowing to create process order.
How to resolve the issue.

Check in CORW and switch off batch creation to isolate the problem if needed. Also see whether you have any batch managed compoents for which you have set master data for automatic batch determination.
There is no setting for material types and plant for batch. May be the error message is not correct. What is the message number?

Logical Standby Creation Problems "Create STatus Unknown"

We are using Grid Control 10.2.0.3 on Oracle 10.2..0.3 databases, Windows 2003 sp2 machines.
We have a primary and fsfo physical standby working properly. We went to create a logical standby on a separate server and had problems. it turned out that the listener on the server was not discovered on the target. we fixed that problem and finished the creation of the logical standby and it seems to be functioning properly now.
However, the status on the data guard page for the logical standby shows Create Status Unknown and we are unable to proceed on to create an additional standby database for other purposes. We have tried removing the logical standby target and re-discovering it but status still shows Create Status Unknown.
Is there any way to clear this status without having to drop the logical standby and completely recreate it.

The status on the agent shows it uploading successfully.
We resolved the issue by removing the logical standby from the configuration and selecting to retain the log apply. We then re-added the standby selecting to manage an existing standby database and the status went to normal.

Date of creation problem after making Bridge create TIFs with PS Image Processor.

I went through about 100 files and did what I wanted in Camera RAW (started out with NEFs). Thereafter I had Bridge make TIFs of all the files in the folder using the PS Image Processor.
Now, looking at the TIF folder in Bridge, I find that about 80 of them has a wrong creation date (I checked the Preferences and I have asked for the date of creation - and not the date of modification). As I watch (several minutes) Bridge changes some of the dates to the ones known to me to be correct - but not all. If I close Bridge, restart Bridge and open the folder again the same happens, i.e. it starts all over. Even stranger is that the Windows Pathfinder have problems with the same files - i.e. does not show the date of creation at all.
The date of these 80 files are all the same - and they have been edited over several days!
I have done a lot of work on those files and would hate to start all over. I checked and of course the dates are the original in the RAW folder that I started out with.
I am sure that I do not have any bugs in my PC.
Can I remedy this i any way? I hate to have wrong dates on my files.
What can I have done to cause this? Can anyone help me? Thanking You in advance.

Yes, I have also purged the cache. More than once and again this morning. It does not change the result. Bridge still goes from the date January 13th 2013 to the correct date of creation when I look at the separate thumbnails - and back again when I scroll down the page and subsequently scroll up again!
Thus it seems that Bridge knows the date that the camera set but somehow this foolish January date keeps coming back.
All the folders with NEFs have correct dates - also the ones where I have imported the files from camera to pc in 2013! Only my TIFFs have this problem.
Rigth now I am having Norton 360 run a complete system scan. When that is done I will inactivate Norton (I know that I cannot have 2 antivirus softwares and firewalls run simultaneously on the PC) and instead run a complete scan with Lavasoft Adaware Pro. I have also used Norton Utilities and found no problems. Plus Malwarebytes Antimalware and Superantispyware. No problems.
If "date file created" is the date that the file was modified, it would not help me much. I often go back to a file and play with it again and if I have understood correctly, then this date would change again. I want to see the date of capture ("date created"). Also, by now the problem afflicts at least 1000 files. It would be impossible to do single file manual corrections of dates on so many files.
Update: While I have been writing this, an opened folder with only 36 files has changed the dates to the correct date of capture. I could also scroll up and down without the dates changíng in this small folder. But when I closed Bridge, restarted it and looked at the folder again Bridge again did need minutes to get all the dates rigth. Maybe I have a pc capacity problem instead of a software problem? But why on earth would this specific wrong date result from a too weak pc.?
Maybe I should just give up and reinstall PS?

RAID creation problem,

When I try to create RAID sets, both mirrored in Disk Utility, one set works perfectly while attempting to create the other set results in the error message: "Creating RAID set failed with error: Could not find RAID"
I've tested the disks with Techtool Pro and there were no errors found on either. I have also used the repair/rebuild function in DiskWarrior on both of them as well as the repair permissions and repair disk functions in Disk Utility.
After the above error the 2 drives involved do not show up in the finder, but are still present in Disk Utility as unmounted disks. In order to act on them again they have to be initialized/formatted. After doing this they show up again, but any attempt to create a mirrored set with them continues to fail.
Is there anything that can be done to fix this? Or are these bad drives that are good at hiding it (no bad sectors, all tests+).

From your comments, I guess you are using 4 disks and trying to create two Mirrored RAIDs at the same time? If that's the case, you might try just creating 1 set using two disks, then quit Disk Utility. Launch Disk Utility, then try creating the second set using the other two disks. If that doesn't work, you might try rebooting in between RAID creations. If that doesn't work, you might try the work around seen here;

Personally, that 'solution' seems a little dated. Disk Utility has been able to create more than one set for a while now. I just tried it. I have a Stripped BootRAID using two disks, I used a partition from another internal disk and an old external disk, connected by USB2, to create another Stripped RAID. Then I broke the new Stripped set and created a Mirrored set. I didn't have any problems creating either. I had two stripped RAIDs on a FW800 G4 running Tiger a couple years ago...

I need to create a Generic Data Source out of a table called VBSEGK... I was trying in the usual way with RSO2 , but when I press save button after entering the Table name the following error is coming:
" Invalid Extract Stucture Template VBSEGK of Data Source ZPARK_01"
and when I click on the error message its showing
Diagnosis
You tried to generate an extract structure with the template structure VBSEGK. This operation failed, because the template structure quantity fields or currency fields, for example, field DMBTR refer to a different table.
Procedure
Use the template structure to create a view or DDIC structure that does not contain the inadmissable fields.
VBSEGK is a standard table , so I cant change the Table structure. Can any one give me some idea of how to create Data source with this table ASAP ASAP please....

Reason and Prerequisites
The problem is caused by a program error.
Solution
The table or view used for extraction must have currency and unit fields within the field list of the table/view for all currency and quantity key figures.Otherwise the consistency of the extracted data cannot be ensured.To make the generation possible, check whether all key figures of your table refer to unit fields that are within the field list.If this is not the case, there are two possibilities:
1. A table is used for extraction.
Create a view in which you have a currency / unit field contained in the view for each key figure. The currency / unit field from the table must be included in the view to which the key figure actually refers.
Example:
Field WKGBTR of table COEP refers to the unit field WAERS of table TKA01. In a view that contains field COEP-WKGBTR, table TKA01 and field WAERS must be included in the field list.
If the currency or the unit a key figure refers to is not located in a table but in a structure, the key figure has to be removed from the view and read via a customer exit (see below). Structures cannot be included in a view.
ATTENTION!! Often the key of the table in which the referenced unit is located, does not agree with the key in the table with the corresponding key figure. In this case, the join condition of both tables is not unique in the view definition, that means for each key line of the table with the key figure, several lines of the table with the unit may be read: the result is a multiplying of the number of lines in the view by a factor corresponding to the number of lines that fit the key figure, in the unit table. To be able to deliver consistent data to a BW system, check whether the unit of the key figure in question should always have a fixed value. If yes then you can determine that in the view definition via 'GoTo -> Selection conditions'. If no, then you must proceed as follows:

2. A view is already used for the extraction
If it is not possible to obtain a unit of measure from a table on which the view is based, the unit field must be deleted from the field list.
A note in relation to the upward compatibility of BW-BCT InfoSources: BW-BCT 1.2B was not yet able to check units and currency fields. For this reason, it is possible that InfoSources which were defined in the source system as of BW-BCT 1.2B must be redefined as of 2000.1 in the manner described above. However, checks are absolutely essential for the consistency of the extracted data.
