  • MOPatch error OUI-67074 on Solaris

I'm new to Oracle so bear with me.
I'm trying to patch 11.2.0.3 with the latest Oracle patch bundle from SAP (SBP_112032_201207). I'm using the latest version of OPatch from Oracle and the latest MOPatch from SAP.
So I run the mopatch command and it fails on 1 of 70, but does install a bunch of them. The failure is on package 14079778. I see the following at the end of the log file:
UtilSession: Backup area for restore has been cleaned up. For a complete list of files/directories
    deleted, Please refer log file.

Can anyone tell me how I should begin to troubleshoot this? I've verified that no *ora processes are running...
    THanks.

I should add that there is another log file for package 13343438 which has the following error in it.
OUI-67135:Argument(s) Error... Illegal file format for composite patch. There is no composite.xml file. Either this composite patch is not packaged properly, or you are applying a constituent individually.

    Is the SBP corrupt??

I am trying to install Oracle 11gR2 on a new server but I am running into issues with OPatch while trying to apply patch 9654983. I have already successfully done this on another server and I have compared the logs to make sure I did not miss any steps and I don't see anything. Everything between the two servers looks the same. I ran into this problem and this is how I solved it. I had OEM Grid Control installed with the database and OMS on the same server. opatch always worked when using the database Oracle Home. Our company moved the database to another system, so I tried using the OMS Oracle Home and got the error. The OMS Oracle Home is a 10.1.0.5 version. I believe I installed the 10.2 Opatch in the directory with a unzip -o option.
I started clean. I renamed the old OPatch and reinstalled the 6880880 patch for the required version. OMS requires the 10.2 version. The problem went away. It had nothing to do with the Java version

  • MOPatch bpmig.sh Structural Changes in SAP Bundle Patches

Structural Changes in SAP Bundle Patches New!
As of June 2014, there is a change in the internal structure of the SAP Bundle Patches (SBPs) for Oracle. While this has many benefits, applying the new SBP for the first time requires special handling. For more information, see the hot news SAP Note 2011199.
When looking at note 2011199 I found due to the changed structure and to identify stand alone patches it is recommended to run the bpmig.sh script.
To avoid these problems or to detect them before actually installing this SBP, you must run the bundle patch migration script bpmig which is delivered with MOPatch 2.1.16 and later.
The script comes up with an error message:
Cannot determine SBP version from "SAP Bundle Patch 11.2.0.3.2 - 201205".
opatch / mopatch semselfs seems to function properly...
    Any clues?

    Hi,
Please check the following SAP Note 2032109 - Executing bpmig.sh shows "Cannot determine installed SBP"
    Thanks.

  • Error installing interim patches - Oracle 10 - 10.2.0.4.0

    Hi experts!
We are currently installing an ERP 6.0 system on SOLARIS 10. After installing Oracle 10.2.0.4.0 and respective patch set, the follpwing error is obtained while trying to install interim patches. Actually the first one was installed without problems...but starting from the second one....the bellow error is logged.
This is the log in /oracle/DB2/102_64/cfgtoollogs/mopatch:
    (A) Comparing object file "/oracle/SID/102_64/MOPatch/mopatch-IJaqhf/5561212/files/lib/libserver10.a/kkj.o" to the object entry "kkj.o" inside the .a file "/oracle/SID/

Files check OK: Files from Patch ID 5561212 are present in Oracle Home.
The local system has been patched and can be restarted.
    OPatch succeeded.
Cannot clean up unpacked patch.  Continuing.
    Processing patch "p5561212_10204_Solaris-64.zip"...done.
    Processing patch "p5747462_10204_Solaris-64.zip"...(2 of 47)
    Processing patch "p5747462_10204_Solaris-64.zip"...failed.
Reason: Cannot clean up temporary patch staging directory.
Could you please let know how to solve this issue? What is the "temporary patch staging directory" the mopatch is not able to clean up? Btw...the process is being run under oraSID user an permissions seems to be ok.
    Thanks and regards

    Hi Diego,
    Processing patch "p5747462_10204_Solaris-64.zip"...failed.
Reason: Cannot clean up temporary patch staging directory.
Are the permissions for these zip files and the directory containing this file OK ?
I think OPatch/MOPatch program is trying to access the directory /oracle/SID/102_64/.patch_storage, once try to verify the permissions of '.patch_storage'
    Thanks

  • Opatch inventory

    Hi
I have applied the opatch on the oracle database.
When I check the applied patch using command
    */oracle/ABP/102_64/OPatch/opatch lsinventory -invPtrLoc /etc/oraInst.loc*
it does not shows the recent applied patches.
Can anyone guide me where to check the recent applied patches.

Is this your correct oracle inventory location ?
Also set ORACLE_HOME before firing this command..
If you are not getting correct patch information, then specify correct value in -invPtrLoc .
Can you check in /etc/oraInst.loc that where is this file pointing..
I also checked your other thread
    Opatch applying error
So you seems to have issue with inventory location..
If your inventory is lost then create it manually..

The lastest version of Optach is 11.1.0.0.0, the version you had is way too old. OPatch has some syntax changes among the versions so some version might recognize an argument some don't.
You are still recommended to upgrade to lastest OPatch version.

  • Opatch to apply 13965211 process

Hi experts and thanks for taking my question!
I'm hoping someone can give me some advice. I'm seeing new behavior with optach that I did not experience with oracle database 11.1.0.7 and I want to make sure I have things correct before continuing. My database has been upgraded to 11.2.0.3 on a windows 2008/64bit (no rac or gird) and I want to apply the current patch 6 (13965211).
I downloaded the newest opatch which turns out to be Version: 11.2.0.3.0.
I hit an Opatch bug (error = 41 oracle.opatch.classpath.jar) . The fix of renaming the file worked but now Opatch is asking me for email name/ password and url information.
Is this normal behavior? I don't see anything in the doc about this. I answered all questions with NONE since we are behind firewall and oracle change manager is not installed.
I then got an opatch error (file missing file error for MSVCR71.dll). I clicked ok and opatch continued with pre-checks successfully and now wants to apply the patch to my home.
I'm thinking the MSVCR71.DLL file missing might be caused by the failure to connect to Oracle. Has anyone else hit this and continued with a successful patch? It sounds like oracle is going to try to force us to open our firewall to their site.
    Thanks!
    Kathie

    Kathie;
MSVCR71.dll is a Microsoft file. You should download it from the Microsoft Website and install it.
As for "Opatch is asking me for email name/ password and url information" This is an option, just skip it.
It has nothing to MSVCR71.dll. I'm pretty sure its the Marketing department's idea at Oracle.
So install the missing NET software from Microsoft ( MSVCR71.dll ).

  • Oraarch file getting generated very often in /oracle/ SID /oraarch/

    Dear All
I am facing a problem of getting oracle archive (oraarch) generated very frequently nearly 50MB file in less than a minute due to which my Filesystem capacity of Oraarch is getting full soon.
I have monitored there is no any batch job, Upload job, or any loaded job going even in Idle time in late night the same frequency of Archival is going so in a duration of 6-7 hours i am getting the total archive of 50GB.
I have Oracle 10g Patch Set 10.2.0.4.0 and all the 39 Patches & 2 CPU Patches applied by Opatch & MOPatch and all the Oracle 10g Parameter  are set as per the note 830576.
Can you please let me know what can be the issue?
    Thanks & Best Regards
    Rahul

You probably have statistics being populated and AWR running. Oracle 10g has system jobs that are set to run frequently (i.e. every hour, every night, etc).
    column repeat_interval format a70
    select job_name, repeat_interval, enabled from dba_scheduler_jobs;
    column what format a50 word_wrapped
    select job, last_date, next_date, broken, what from dba_jobs;
50mb is probably too small for your environment. You'll probably want to at least double that... at least.
And if your oraarch is filling up so frequently you should consider increasing the space of oraarch. It sounds like your system is much busier than you expected.
Run this command to get an idea of what Oracle recommends for your redo log file sizes...
    SELECT TARGET_MTTR,ESTIMATED_MTTR,WRITES_MTTR,WRITES_LOGFILE_SIZE, OPTIMAL_LOGFILE_SIZE FROM V$INSTANCE_RECOVERY;
If that doesn't work it's probably because you're not using the system parameter fast_start_mttr_target... which I guess is something SAP advises against using?  I'm an Oracle DBA but a SAP newbie so I'm still learning what parameters SAP wants me to set and why
    Hope that helps..

  • DBUA issue with timezones when upgrading 11.2.0.2 to 11.2.0.3

My task is to migrate an Oracle 11.2.0.2 test database (source database) to 11.2.0.3. The source database hat timezone files (RDBMS DST) version 18 installed. OS ist Windows 2008 R2.
I installed the 11.2.0.3 patchset into a separate Oracle Home (target) to perform an "Out-of-place"-upgrade. According to Note 1358166.1 I also installed the corresponding timezone files (version 18) into the target Oracle Home by applying the corresponding patch set using Opatch. The patch succeeded, and new files were copied into the \oracore\zoneinfo subdirectory under the target's Oracle Home. The files included a file named "readme_18.txt". As there is no database under the target Oracle Home there is no way to do the rest of the installation steps as described in Note 977512.1 (i.e. DBMS_DST.UPGRADE_DATABASE)
When I started the DBUA GUI from the Windows Start Menu (the version from the target Oracle Home), the source database was found, however during the analysis phase I got an error message stating that the timezone files on the target database have a lower version that the timezone files of the source database. The error in the trace.log (subdirectory of ORACLE_BASE\cfgtoollogs\dbua) reads:
*[PreMigrationCheck.checkTZVersion:101] new oracle home TZ file version 14 and source oracle home TZ file version 18*
To ensure that this problem is not resolved with one of the patchsets, I deinstalled the targed Oracle Home, reinstalled the 11.2.0.3 release, applied the latest patchset (Patch 13) using OPatch and then applied the timezone files version 18 using OPatch: Same error as before.
I started reading tons of documents, but I found nothing about this error in the forum or other places in the internet. So I started experimenting and I found a workaround: In the \oracore\zoneinfo subdirectory I renamed
    - readme.txt to readme_14.txt and
    - readme_18.txt to readme.txt
When I started DBUA again, the error did not return and I was able to migrate.
Question: Did I use a suitable workaround, or is there a better way to circumvent the DBUA error? Maybe I missed an important step.
    Regards
    Christoph
