Open a browser popup in a new process

Hi,
I am opening a browser popup using window.open in javascript and that popup is running in the same process. Due to which, when i close the process, both the popup and main window are closed. My concern is to open a popup in a new process, so that killing popup's process shouldn't kill the main window's process and vice versa. How can i accomplish this. Please post a solution if anyone knows.

Adobe Air I cannot open up a popup browser

I'm having a problem with adobe air. I cannot open up a popup
browser window from clicking on a button in a adobe air program. I
can only open up browser windows within existing browser windows or
a new window if none is open.

The guts of my computer were rearranged and I got a new main hard drive. My old one is still in there and I can get stuff from it, but when I go to the Mozilla folder on the old one, I can't figure out if there's anything I can do to get all my bookmarks from that drive to my new one, where Firefox is newly installed.

If you open Firefox then Firefox will always use the default profile folder as found via profiles.ini on your system drive.
You either need to import the file in your current default profile or copy the file to your current profile folder while Firefox is closed.
Firefox 3 stores the bookmarks and the browser history in [http://kb.mozillazine.org/places.sqlite places.sqlite] and no longer creates an HTML backup by default.
There are also (five) JSON backups in the bookmarkbackups folder within the Firefox profile folder.
You can either copy the file places.sqlite to your [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder] or import the most recent JSON backup from the bookmarkbackups folder of that old profile.

Why don't you try any another software for opening CSV files then Notepad ? According to my experience, you can use these softwares to open an CSV files and they are:-
Microsoft Excel
Open Office Calc
Google Docs
Also there is an additional tool available known as CSV viewer. You may try this, download it from here http://www.csvviewer.com/
I've never used Notepad for opening CSV files, because sometimes it contains some symbols which are not not at all compatibile with Notepad.

Firefox 13, Windows Vista, I use Thunderbird as my default email program and in past versions of Firefox I was able use a custom button to open Thunderbird to receive mail. In the options menu - applications - there is a mailto content type but no option to open Thunderbird inbox?

Hmm that does sound a bit strange - I use a system quite similar to yours (XP, FF 3.6.3), and don't see this behaviour.
I would recommend trying to start Firefox in Firefox [[Safe Mode]] (make sure you close '''all''' running Firefox instances first), and see if this problem persists.
If not, it could be some add-on causing this behaviour - restart Firefox in Safe Mode, disable all add-ons, and enable them one by one to find the guilty one.
If it still happens in Firefox Safe Mode, some other program (or something in Windows itself) most likely is the cause. We may be able to help with this too, so let us know what works and provide as much additional information as possible to let us help you solve this.

Links open in a new browser instead of a new tab. I do have "open new windows in a new tab instead" ticked

I am using Windows 7 on my desktop and today my Firefox browser opens links from emails in a new browser instead of a new tab.
I do have "open new windows in a new tab instead" , under tools; options, Tabs ticked.
I have tried unticking it and then re-ticking it but neither make any difference.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

When I open Firefox browser, as well as my homepage opening, a new tab also opens at the same time how can I stop this please?

This problem has only just started and I don't know why. When I click the Firefox icon to open the browser, my homepage tab opens and another new tab opens up alongside my homepage tab. I have checked and the are no pipe characters in my homepage addres.

I restarted Firefox in safe mode then reset it all and it has worked, thanks for the solution.

Open non browser link in new window

Hi All,
I know by "cmd opt click" you can open the selected link in a new window but is it possible to do that with a non safari link? For example an external link such as an ichat window or link from Mail. For anything not contained in the browser.

Opening Firefox yields firefox.exe as a process, but no browser window.

I click on Firefox and I am presented with the session manager selection window. After selecting the previous session nothing happens. Checking the Processes tab in the Task Manager I see firefox.exe running, but there is no Firefox Task. Waiting a long time yields nothing. I end the process and restart Firefox and it opens in the upper left corner with only the three boxes (minimize, maximize, and exit) showing. Clicking on the maximize box opens the browser with only the app tabs available. The other tabs are missing. Going through Tools/Session Manager and selecting the session before the previous one (the one that did not open the browser) I can restore the full set of app tabs and regular tabs. In Session Manager the entries alternate between one with 14 tabs (the app tabs) and 24 tabs (with the non-app tabs included).
This happens every time I attempt to start Firefox after shutting it down or system crashing. It happened on Firefox 7.x and it is happening on Firefox 8.x.
OS is WinXP. Extensions loaded include:

I've tried disabling each of the addons, hoping one of them was the cause, but it made no difference.

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.
Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer. 
Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. 
All these programs have free versions.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

News app just open my browser

Hi All,
I just got my blackberry passport, super happy with it!
I just have one problem. I installed a Dutch news app called Nu.nl. Whenever i tap on a newsstory within the app it opens my browser, which its not supposed to do.
Any ideas what I can do to fix it? I reinstalled the app, restarted the phone.

I updated to V4 but firefox will no longer open when I click on the icon. I can see that the process has started, but there is no browser display. Stopping the process and trying again does not work. Please advise

Prior to updating to V4, firefox worked perfectly with all my existing applications. After I updated it will not launch a browser page, even though the process is shown to be operable in the Task Manager. The same problem occurs on start-up of my computer, so there are no previous processes running.
I cannot launch the broswer at all so cannot try clearing the cache etc or other suggested troubleshooting solutions.

In the Task Manager, make sure to check both the Applications tab and the Processes tab. On the Processes tab, Firefox may have two different components running: firefox.exe and plugin-container.exe. Well, in 3.5.11, it would be only the first one.

Opening an href'd page in new - vs the same - browser screen

Hopefully, this is a simple thing that I'm unaware of, but I'd like for users to be able to open certain .html pages in a new screen when browing vs. "writing over" the existing screen. Help?
