Open Firefox using a JavaScript

I currently have a Java Script which Opens Internet Explorer with a specific website. I want to change this script to open Firefox instead. Copies of the scripts are listed below:
Button programmed with;
C:\WINDOWS\system32\wscript.exe "N:\Client Folder\FF_clientscript.js"
which calls;
var navOpenInBackgroundTab = 0x1000;
var oIE = new ActiveXObject("InternetExplorer.Application");
oIE.Navigate2("http://www.client_website/");
oIE.Visible = true;
So far I haven't been able to find anything similar for Firefox. Can anyone assist?

Executing this code from the JS console will change the font size of all the Measurement annotations to 20. You can change the value in the first line to use a different font size:
var newTextSize = 20;
this.syncAnnotScan();
var annots = this.getAnnots();
for (var i in annots) {
    var annot = annots[i];
    if (annots[i].type=="Line") {
        var richText = annot.richContents;
        for (var i in richText) {
            richText[i].textSize = newTextSize;
        annot.richContents = richText;

  • Every time I load my igoogle home page opening firefox, it opens it in two tabs instead of one, and then AVG tells me firefox is using too much memory and I should close and reopen it; Why

    I open firefox using my igoogle home page and immediately it opens two igoogle tabs on top instead of just one how do I stop it from opening the second one? and then after about two minutes AVG tells me firefox is using too much memory slowing my machine and tells me to close and reopen fire fox...how do I fix that?

    Make sure that Firefox closes properly and that that there are no longer Firefox or plugin-container processes left on the Processes tab in the Task Manager. Otherwise session restore will reopen the page(s) from the previous session.

  • Firefox uses too much CPU when displaying flash sites

    When I have a site with flash and/or java open, firefox uses minimum 40% of my CPU power, even when I'm doing nothing, when firefox is idle and waiting for input.
    P.S. This could be a recent issue, probably related to the newest version of firefox, however I haven't tried downgrading it because I don't have the old version package in my cache. (cleaned it a while ago)

    Of course it is, but there isn't much we can do about it, isn't it? Therefore I suggested firefox3, to alleviate things a little (it does it for me). Flash doesn't even work at all for me in Opera, I only get a grey window where the video should be.
    Bye, signor_rossi.
    The newest version of flash Plugin only works with Opera 9.5 beta. If you want to use flash with the stable Opera find an older version of the flash plug in.
    Thanks for the hint, will keep that in mind in the case I will switch to Opera again (used it for a while because Firefox2 scrolling was bad, with 3 it is much better). Besides, there is a new flash version in the repos.
    Bye, signor_rossi.

  • I just installed 4.0b7. When I open Firefox, I get a Javascript Application error message.

    I just installed 4.0b7. When I open Firefox, a Javascript Application windows opens with the following message:
    "what happened:TypeError: Components.classes ['@mozilla.org/extensions/manager;1'] is undefined".
    The browser does open after I click 'OK' on the error message.
    How can I fix this?
    I have tried uninstaling and re-installing the browser.
    I am using Windows 7.

    That indicates an add-on is not compatible with 4.0b7. Follow the procedure in the [[troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article to identify the culprit. If you have the Ask toolbar either disable or uninstall it, that one is known to give this error and is not compatible with 4.0b7.

  • I performed the update to version 7.3.5 and now I cannot undo the update that eliminated a toolbar that I use every day. How do I recover my toolbar? With the upgrade on a windows 7 machine, whenever I open firefox I get a white screen.

    Uninstall to my prior version is not working. I need to go back to the original version for two reasons. First, I can no longer use one of the toolbars that was compatible to previous version, but is no longer supported so it was disabled, and two when I try and open firefox from any short cut, I get a solid white screen and I do not get any toolbars nor is there any way to navigate to a tabbed option since I can not see anything and it just hangs there with out going to my homepage or anything else.

    Do you see the menu bar or anything else? As for the missing toolbar, this is the case for 90% of Firefox users, for instance the Google Toolbar. To restore it, you need to install Mozilla's Add-On Compatibility Reporter extension from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/15003 and restart Firefox twice.
    As for the white screen, I am not sure what you mean, but your install looks corrupted, you probably need to uninstall Firefox and reinstall from scratch. You may spend too much time and effort otherwise. Back up your settings first if you have any, like Firefox bookmarks.

  • How to open an URL and close the URL window, using adobe javascript

    Hi,
      Is it possible to open an URL and close the URL back again(without allowing the user to perform any other operation)? I was able to acheive the opening of the URL, using the app.launchURL("address". true); - But here it lauches in new window, and how do i close the window using the javascript. Is it possible?
    Thanks.

    Hi all
    In addition to what Bobby W - Adobe TS added, you might find
    the following useful as a bypass or workaround to the pesky prompt.
    var pw=window.parent;pw.opener=window.self;window.open("
    http://www.adobe.com");
    pw.close();
    I think this will only work for IE browsers. Actually, I
    think the whole window.close() only works for IE, but could be
    wrong about that.
    Cheers... Rick

  • When I try to open Firefox I get a screen that says Firefox is configured to use a proxy server. I don't know what that is and I have no access to Firefox.

    The above says it all, I think. I try to open Firefox and I get that screen I mentioned above. I have uninstalled and program twice and re-installed it three times with the same result.

    Check the connection settings.
    *Tools > Options > Advanced : Network : Connection > Settings
    If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then select "No Proxy" if the default "Use the system proxy settings" setting doesn't work.
    See "Firefox connection settings":

    I have used Firefox on my computer for several years. Today, after upgrading to the new version, I was not able to open Firefox. I have tried several times uninstalling and re-downloading Firefox. It still will not open! Is the new version not compatible with Windows Vista?

    You will have to close firefox.exe with the Windows Task Manager from the "Processes" tab of the WTM since you don't have a widow to close.
    The best way to close Firefox is through File > Exit, for those who stuck with the "Firefox" button click on the Firefox button then Exit. It is not perfect but it is a lot better than just closing the window with the "X" in the upper right corner

  • Using browser javascript to copy selected text from a pdf file opened in Air app.

    I have posted this question on reader forum as well, but I think it is more suited here...
    I am trying to create a note-taking application in air. I want to extract selected text from pdf file as a string object or to the clipboard.
    Obviously, all pdfs in my local storage will not be scripted to recieve postMessages and act accordingly, and that is not practical either. So, my problem is, how can I copy the selected text in the pdf file (opened as an object in htmlloader within my Air app) to clipboard or directly in another control by say clicking a button in air application? I suppose, this is possible using javascript, however, I don't know which reader methods are exposed to the wrapper htmlloader control. In short, I want to execute app.execMenuItem("Copy") command through htmlloader javascript. Any alternate solutions are also welcome.
    This is similar to passing inbuilt commands/methods/functions (of adobe reader) to pdf-reader plugin embedded in a webpage via javascript. This is possible in IE where the pdf is rendered as activex object, and hence JSObject interface of pdf document/reader is accessible to the browser javascript. I have also read that this same JSObject is accessible to VB as interface for IAC, so as the Air is Adobe's own product, I was wondering if equivalent of JSObject is accessible to htmlloader control as well.
    Thanks in advance...

    Thank you Thom for your reply...
    from
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/acrobat/javascript.html
    ...Through JavaScript extensions, the viewer application and its plug-ins expose much of their functionality to document authors, form designers, and plug-in developers...
    As it is explicitly mentioned, that the functionality of adobe reader are exposed for plugin development, I thought someone here might have used external javascript to execute some safe methods in adobe reader. The functionality (i.e. external javascript interface-JSObject) is already available for VB programmers to develop IAC. Further, the Acrobat SDK example called "AcroPDFinHML" shows how one can embed a pdf-reader in a html page and execute some safe methods (like gotonextpage(), zooming etc.) in IE as ActiveX plugin. I have checked it myself for adobe reader 9, and it works perfectly, so there is no security issue as such to implement the same for another browser (like in my case, the htmlloader control in flex/air app).
    I intend to create a note taking application in air, where it is very much required that I should be able to copy selected text from various pdf documents, that are open in my app, and subsequently paste/collect/save the collected notes and process them afterwords (offcourse, from the pdfs that allow me copying text). However, it is not happening for me here. As the pdfs are opened through adobe reader plugin, it does not register the copy command executed by my air app. It registers the system level copy command (by keyboard shortcut Ctrl+C), but my air app has no way to execute the system level copy command programmatically. So I am kind of stuck here...
    Thanks again for your reply. Having known what am I intend to accomplish, any other (may be alternative) solutions will be appreciated nonetheless...

  • Firefox will not open a file requiring javascript, then hangs; forced close is the only solution

    Firefox 3.6.6 opens OK. Browsing OK, until I try to open a file that requires Java. The file will not open & Firefox immediately hangs. The only way out is a forced closure. Often getting a "This is embarrassing message" at the Firefox start-up. 2 choices are given - start new session or start up with previous tabs.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == After updating Firefox to 3.5 & 3.6.6

    requires javascript.
