Open Hub Destination-Third Party Tool

dear all,
can any one guide me as to how data(master data in particular) from bw can be transferred to oracle data base using open hub destiantion.is rfc connection between bw and third part tool enough,do we have to maintain the same structure in third party tool before executing DTP and how can this be done??
i am now able to transfer data from bw into a flat file and also to data base (bw) and not aware of the this functionality-third party tool .any light thrown on this area is welcome and points will be awarded ,
thanks ,

Some light at the end of tunnel for sure...
Extraction to the third-party tool can be executed as follows:
       1.      You define an open hub destination with Third-Party Tool as the destination type.
       2.      You create an RFC destination for your third-party tool and enter it in the definition of the open hub destination.
       3.      You use API RSB_API_OHS_DEST_SETPARAMS to define the parameters for the third-party tool that are required for the extraction.
       4.      You either start extraction immediately or include it in a process chain. You can also start this process chain from the third-party tool using process chain API RSPC_API_CHAIN_START. The extraction process then writes the data to a database table in the BI system.
       5.      When the extraction process is finished, the system sends a notification to the third-party tool via API RSB_API_OHS_3RDPARTY_NOTIFY.
       6.      The extracted data is read by API RSB_API_OHS_DEST_READ_DATA.
       7.      The status of the extraction is transferred to the monitor by API RSB_API_OHS_REQUEST_SETSTATUS.

  • Open hub Destinations - Third-Party Tools As Destinations

Dear all, below is the SAP Help process flow steps. I am quiet clear of all the steps except the APIs. Where do we define these APIs? When it says "You use API RSB_API_OHS_DEST_SETPARAMS to define the parameters for the third-party tool that are required for the extraction" where do I use it? Is it in the 3rd party tool? or is it in SAP BI.
If it is in 3rd party tool, where in 3rd party tool. Do I need to write as code ? or would I have an option in the 3rd party tool?
If someone can help me with Microsoft connector using Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Integration Services packages to SAP BI that would be helpful.
Where in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Integration Services packages can I use/put this APIs? Any help Plzz
If it is in SAP BI where in SAP BI do I have to use these APIs? Any help is highly appreciated

It's been a along time since i worked with open hub, but here goes:
The Third Party tool needs parameters or switches to work correctly. Think of the old DOS commanda the  "/a" "/b" suffix.
The APIs are simply a way to pass these parameters from the BW source to the Third Party target.
If your tool does not need them, don't worry about them.

  • Use R3 46C as BI open hub destination 3rd party

    Hi.
    I am implementing Open Hub Service to 3rd party tool from SAP_BW version 700 N° 15 to R/3 46C, PI version 2004_1_46C.
I get following error when trying to send the data : "SYSTEM_FAILURE, with RSB_OHS_3RDPARTY_NOTIFY".
I think 3rd party tools, called from BI by RFC are not implemented on my R3 system. Still, theese function modules are present in BI.
How can theese tools can be added to my R3 system ?

  • Which 3rd party tools can support Open Hub Destination?

    Hi BI experts,
In the Open Hub Destination Type, I have a choice between Database Table, File or Third Party Tool.  From what I read from SAP documentation, the Third Party Tool which is supported is Ascential.  Apart from Ascential, what are other 3rd party Tools can Open Hub Destination link up to ?
Can Microsoft BI be linked up?
    Please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Anthony

    Hi Anthony,
Yes, SSIS can be used with Open hub.
    Refer to below mentioned link:

  • Sending data directly from BW To Oracle DW via Open hub Third party tools

    HI All
We need to send data from SAP BW 7.0 to Oracle 11g DW. The requirement is to pass data through open hubs. So we wanted to explore the option of directly passing the data from BW to Oracle using third party tools. So i tried to gather information on the third party tools and came across list of APIs and some pointers on creating a RFC through SM59. But dont know how to do it or what parameters to pass. Could you please point me in the direction or list me step by step detailed instructions as to how I can achieve this?

    Hi Amit..
I can see  the following  will make things work for  you.
    1) BODS.
    2) PI ( XI).
    3) BI7.0 to FTP and from FTP  you to push these tp  your oracle system..

  • Open hub in 2004s - Detination type Third Party Tool

    Hello there,
May be SAP people can answer this or anyone who has actually done the Extraction to Non SAP system pl answer.
We're on 2004s SP 10. We have bunch of Hubs, right now creating flat files which gets loaded to a different Oracel DB system.
In the new version in the Destiantion type there is Third-Party Tool and has RFC Destination below it.
I've gone through the help.sap.com and manuals on this, i get a feeling we need a third party tool Ascential to put data in the third system.
But what i would like to know is with just the RFC destination established to the different sytem will I be able to extract Data to the other system.
    Thanks for your answers.
    Mayil

    Hello Mayil,
I am currently working on a similar problem - using OpenHub to export data into a SQL Server database. My understanding is that using the "third party" option allows you to use the OpenHub API which basically gives you the control of when and how you want to extract the data. Nothing is done automatically (as mentioned in the other reply), because SAP does not know your third party system. You will have to write a custom application that calls the OpenHub API through RFC.
In my case, I am using the SAP Connector for .NET (v2.0) which makes communicating with the BI server through RFC much easier. I do not know Oracle very well, but you can probably create RFC calls right through Oracle's T-SQL?
In your case, you can also stick with flat file export if it fulfills your needs. It is still available in NW2004s.
I agree with you - unfortunately, there is close to no information in the help files and forums so far.
Please post any progress - I will do the same.

  • RFC destination for your third-party tool

    Hello SAP Guru's,
I have recently established external db connect for an iseries database. Now developers wants to use the open hub destination to extract data to non-SAP systems. They are using API: RSB_API_OHS_3RDPARTY_NOTIFY to connect a third-party tool to the BI system and use this third-party tool to distribute data to other non-SAP systems. To do so they need RFC destination for the third party tool. Could you tell me which RFC connection i have to use in SM59 ? I mean is it ABAP connection or TCP/IP connection or HTTP connection to external server?
I would highly appreciate any help on this.
    FYI:
I have already gone through below help link:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/43/8de3f4743b22a8e10000000a1553f6/frameset.htm

This will be of type TCP/IP.
You will need to create an RFC server application on the thirdparty system, and implement this function there. You will need to define that server application in your RFC destination definitions (host/Program).
You may need to read up RFC server help documentation; you can also browse the SAPGUI subfolders for RFC server sample applications and C code (if you have installed GUI in full, there should be such subfolders on your PC). You can also ask for help on 'application server' or 'abap' forums for this.

  • Open Hub Destinations - Write directly to a table on 3rd party DB.

    Hi All,
Is there way to create a table in the Non SAP system ( like 3rd party DB ) using Open Hub Destinations?
If yes what are the steps.
    Thanks,
    Hima

There is a 3rd party extractor to load data from BI into SQL Server (and vice versa) using Open Hub:
Summary: This white paper demonstrates the use of the Microsoft Connector 1.0 for SAP BI in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Integration Services packages. It shows how to load data into SAP BI by using the SAP BI destination, how to extract data from SAP BI by using the SAP BI source, and how to prepare extracted data for analysis in SQL Server Analysis Services.

  • Integrate project open (third party tool for time sheet management) in EP

    Hello Experts,
I have third party tool for time sheet management (Project Open) and EP7.0 SP17. I tried to integrate third party tool with portal by using the App integrator. But it is not working properly. Again and again its asking authentication. I followed same steps to integrate this tool by using App integrator in portal.
we filled the system properties Server name is projects.company.local and Web Application URL is /intranet/.
What i made mistakes in this, please help me.

  • DTP Delta request for open hub destination.

    Hi expert,
As you know, In BW 7.0, open hub destination is used for open hub service, and you can create tranformation/DTP for the destination. and in some case the DTP delta is enabled.
    my questions are
    1) in the context menu of open hub destination, I did not find something like manage, which could list all the DTP request executed for this open hub destination..but for normal infocube or ods, you can find a list.
    2) if the DTP could enable the delta, where can I delete the latest delta request, and have a new load..
    3) I assume the DTP could be excuted with batch integrated with process chain by process type 'DTP', right ? if the destination type is third party tool, can it also be integrated with process chain ?
    4) can give some obvious difference of InfoSpoke and open hub destination in terms of advantage and disadvantage..
Thanks a lot for the feedback.

  • Details about open hub destination

    Hi
I need to know what is the significance of these terms ,what do they actually mean while creating a open hub destination.
    Destination type:
    Server name :
    Type of file name:
    Application server filename:
    Separator:

    Hi,
Using Open hub services u can send the data to a third party tool, to a Table, or to a File.
Destination type means whether u want to send to File, Database Table or Third Party Tool.
If it is Third Party tool u need to specify the server name where the third party tool is there.
If u Check Application server that file will be store in the application server.
Generally file type will be Comma Seperated Variable file (.CSV)
for .CSV file data seperator will be , (Comma).
assigning points in sdn is saying thanks.

  • Open Hub Destination to Oracle database

    Hello All ,
I am supposed to send data from my SAP BI (7.0) system to and Oracle Database using open hub destination. I have to use the option " Third Party " as destination while creating the Open Hub Destination .
From my reading and acc to Basis I  realised that I need a 3rd party ETL tool in between BI and Oracle system to write data into the Oracle system since oracle is not SAP RFC aware . The 3rd party ETL that I am supposed to use in this is Business Objects - Data Integrator(BO-DI) . If anyone has implemented this type of Open hub service please throw  some light on this issue as to how to setup the 3rd party ETL in between and how to proceed .  Any how to document would also be useful .
    Thanks and Regards,

  • Is a third-party tool required for data extraction to non-SAP system?

    Hi,
I want to extract data to non-SAP systems with the open hub service.
If I choose Database tables as open hub destinations, I would like to know if a third-party tool is mandatory and if it's possible to send data directly from database tables in BW to non-SAP systems.
    Many thanks
    Ella

you can choose a flat file on the application server and then transffer the file from the application server to other server where you want to use.
in case you want to use the table in the open hub service. any other software that can connect to oracle db / the databasee you have and can access the data from the table.

  • Open hub destination problem - .csv file is empty

    Hi everyone,
I am trying to extract data from our BW system using Open Hub Dest. to a .csv file
DTP runs successfully means show total no. of records but when I see in AL11 then records are not in .csv file that is .csv file is empty.
How to figure out the problem?
    Best regards
    Ahmad

    @Jagadeesh:
if I correctly understood you, you mean to say that first I should run DTP and save to an excel file to see if it shows data or not. This i think is not possible; as when we create OHD then 'Destination Type' we can choose among 'DB table', 'table' and 'third party tool',
so if I choose 'Table' then 'File Name' is .csv file (same name as the OHD) and can change it to .xls file
    @Arun:
have permission to write in the folder
Do you mean creating OH to a Database Table?
in DTP I have a filter on a Characteristic, when its 1500 records then it works (data is in .csv file) but when 3500 records then .csv file is empty
    no error message, no log
    Regards
    Ahmad
