Open report using memorystream or byte array

Dear All,
I am using .Net4.0 with CR13, is it possible to load a report document using a memory stream or byte array in stead from a physical file from disk?
If not, will this be made available?

By default when you use the .Load() API CR creates a temp file in your users
%Users%\AppData\Local\Temp folder so CR requires access to that folder at least. And therefore it also requires Virus and other permissions to use it.
Bottom line is there is no Load or Open report from FileStream Method.
Add it to Idea Place, search first though, someone may have already requested it.

CRXIR2 - Report is stuck when trying to open report using RDC library

I'm working on .Net reporting appliaction that uses CRXI R2 (Embedded Server) as a reporting engine.
I have a problem with a customer in prodction site,
when trying to open report with RDC library, report hangs and nothing happens:

Long time since we've talked. I suggest logging a case in SMP. If you do let me know what the case number is and I'll pick it up. I'll also send you an e-mail....
I take that back, because R2 is no longer supported you can't log a case....
First issue is the RDC is not supported in .NET, second issue is the RDC is only available in CR XI R2 which is no longer supported.
And finally it's about time you update your app to use the CR .NET Assemblies. All of our OEM Partners are now doing so.
In the mean time these 2 are the only versions officially not supported:

Error opening report using WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT

Hi
I have a report in pdf format that opens ok by itself. When I use WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT in the when_mouse_click trigger on the item in the form the report doesnt display. Only an IE window with "The page cannot be displayed" message.
Here is the trigger code:

where FMSLaborChargesalcs20060829132645.pdf is the name of the report I am trying to open.
Here is the URL that appears in the second window that opens:

this url generates the error message "The page cannot be displayed"
I am using Forms [32 Bit] Version 10.1.2.0.2 (Production)

Report Builder 10.1.2.0.2
ORACLE Server Release 10.1.0.4.2
and I running the forms and reports server on my local machine.

the file is located on my local C drive in:

seems as though I am missing something else as well

The transaction Launcher can be used to launch URLs and BSPs / BOR transactions from other systems.
To launch a GUI transaction a BOR object type with a method EXECUTE, that supports synchronous calls is required.
1. A mapping of the logical systems is required: Transaction: CRMS_IC_CROSS_SYS
2. To launch a GUI transaction a BOR object type with a method EXECUTE, that supports synchronous calls is required.Transaction: SE80 > Workbench > Edit object

Show prompts before opening a new report using action links

Hi,
I have a report that's grouped on a particular GROUP_ID and the current month. On clicking the GROUP_ID on the report, I need to open a new report that displays data for that month but on date level. Since we have a lot of data at date level (>100,000), I wanted a drop down on the top of the report that has all dates in that month and clicking on a particular date, the data in the pivot table is fetched.
I tried using the pivot table prompt but that seems to fetch all the data first and then creates a drop down prompt. Is there a way where we could fire the query only on choosing a particular date.
Is there any other way we could do this?

You're saying to add a dashboard prompt for Month and Date? When opening reports using Action links, I am not able to see the prompts.
I am using Go URLs in Action links and that data for a month is >100,000. So, I want to show the data for the month and the first date of that month.
I really don't know whether such thing is possible or not. I just want to restrict the data to the first day of the month. Rest of the data is queried when user selects a different date from the drop down.

Unable to open reports with Web intelligence

We are unable to open reports using Webi Intelligence. Error of "Session is closed(Error: INF)" apears.
I have restarted the SIA and Apache services with no luck.

Try changing the idle connection timeout on your Web Intelligence Processing Server to 60 minutes (from the CMC).
If this doesn't work, please add a trace to the Web Intelligence Processing Server (add a -trace to the command line parameters of the server). and post the log for the relevant time period.

How to use ImageIcon's byte[] constructor?

As subject states
I've tried many many times and I just cna't get it. I can get it working using ImageIcon's String (filename) constructor, but the application I'm developing for requires the use of a byte[] array.
Could someone please share some code that reads data from an image file (jpg preferably) and converts it into an array of bytes and uses that to (successfully!) create a working ImageIcon?

It should work to use a BufferedInputStream instead of BufferedReader and InputStreamReader. I tried this test code.

It displays the same values as the original inbytes values. When I tried the same code except using InputStreamReader and BufferedReader, I did not get the original inbytes values. There's character encoding with a Reader that may change the values. Streams give the raw data.

Compression/Decompression of byte-array in TupleOutput/TupleInput

Hello,
how do I compress the whole data before I flush everything out? I simply want to write to the internal buffer using TupleOutput methods and after that compress the buffer. The decompressing once using the TupleInput reference.
For instance Snappy.compress(byte[]) and Snappy.decompress(byte[]).

Perhaps you're expecting to be able to use TupleInputStream as a FilterInputStream, which is is not.
Have you tried implementing the EntryBinding interface? The entryToObject(DatabaseEntry) method gives you the byte array. You can decompress the byte array and then use the byte array to call your tuple binding's entryToObject(DatabaseEntry) method.
In other words, compose two bindings. One binding does the compression/decompression, the other does the tuple serialize/deserialize using the uncompressed byte array.

my java program is connecting to a url and downloading various file(.pdf,.xml format) into hard-disk. now the requirement is if user select "Preview" button, then file is downloaded and opened with appropriate application(acrobat reader for .pdf file) but not saved anywhere in hard-disk ...

i got the solution. i am using one external api of adobe acrobat, through which i am able to stream pdf document in form of byte array into acrobat viewer,without writing data in any file.

Problem in using the install()'s byte array values?

I tried to pass the values to the OwnerPIN object at the time of initialization. But when I try to install the applet I will get 6A80 error code . Can anybody tell me why I am getting this message. And if i use some different data values for pin.update() then I wont come across those error codes

Use byte array of PDF to display PDF in IE browser

I get byte array of PDF as input argument. I need to use byte array to display PDF in IE browser. I am writing code in doGet method of Servlet to accomplish this. However, PDF never gets displayed. I see Acrobat starting, but original PDF never gets displayed in browser.
I am using code below in doGet of Servlet:

How to use the JE database with other data types than byte arrays?

Hi! I searched the javadoc of Berkley DB JE, for a way to introduce entry (but I need also retrieve) data with other type than byte arrays, e.g. String, or anything else, as int may be, etc.
Still, I didn't find any such way, because the main (only?!) method to entry data into an open database - according what I found in javadoc - is:
"public OperationStatus put(Transaction txn, DatabaseEntry key, DatabaseEntry data) throws DatabaseException"
and both this and the corresponding method for retrieves, are based on the same DatabaseEntry type, which allow only entry data on byte[] support.
What if I need to use Strings or int, or even char? I must do a special conversion from these types, to byte[], to use the database?

Byte Array from SQL Reporting Service

I am calling the Render method of the Microsoft SQL Reporting
Service's ReportExecution web service. It returns a Byte array in
the lastResult object. I am having the hardest time figuring out a
way to convert that byte array into something I can use in Flex.
The byte array, once converted into a more user friendly format,
will contain the rendered version of a SQL Report in whatever
format I have specified...in this case it is XML. Any input or
suggestions would be appreciated.

I use an XMLList node of the result as the source property
for an XMLListCollection bound to a datagrid. Let me know if you

Report using the feature of opening Excel in SAP.

We are building a custom report using the feature of opening Excel in SAP.
We need to do things like:
Protect the worksheet, but leave some rows unprotected
Freeze the windows
Have any one ever used this feature before? Can any know how to do this?

Can i open a existing report using a report generation toolkit

Hello All,
Suppose I create a new excel report today and close the program, Tomorrow I open the same program and instead of creating a new excel file, i need to update the test results data into the excel file which was created yesterday, is this possible.
I am confused because there is no option called Open report in report generation toolkit, it just has create new report option.
Probably NI Guys can work on this...sorry if it is a;lready existing?
Is there any method to open a existing report?

I have a similar problem. I'd like to use Report Generation Toolkit to enter data into some cells in the active worksheet of the active workbook but it seems impossible?! The user has in beforehand opened the desireed workbook and activated the desired worksheet. I use the 'New Report' VI with the template input set as the path of the active workbook (some self-made ActiveX calls to get the path). When this VI is run, howevere, the excel file is sort of re-opened and another worksheet becomes the active one.
I tried to make a customized copy of New Report.vi, New Report subVI.vi and Excel_Open_Workbook.vi so that the Report object works with the currently active workbook and worksheet, but I failed due to my lack of knowledge in LV classes and such things. It would've been an ugly solution anyway to have custom low-level VIs that does not follow when the RepGen Toolkit develops in the future.
