Open .xml file in browser

Here is what I am trying accomplish: I have a bunch of XML files saved in a shared drive, I created an Infopath schema based on that xml and published it to a Sharepoint library. I want to be able to
click on any of the the .xml files in my drive and have them open in the browser, right now it is working when I right click and select "Open in Infopath".
I figured this could be achieved by modifying the header of the xml to include the URL where the associated schema has was published to Sharepoint:

To include something like .../Forms/template.xsn?OpenIn=Browser" but of course this isn't working.

Hi,
I'm writing a java program that appends numerous XML files together. The result is a NEW well formed XML document. Since i have an XSLT that performs several UI modifications on this xml file, the file extension must remain '.xml'. I need to open this xml file with the users default web browser. The problem is that:
Runtime.getRuntime().exec(cmd);
....opens the xml file with the users default program for opening xml files which in my case is Oxygen. I want to force java to open this xml file with the users default web browser and nothing else.
I guess i need the Windows command to perform the 'open with' feature but i have no idea what that command is or how to find it.
Any ideas?

There is an 'alternative'. You can import it into a 1.5 project. It was available as a free standing API before 1.6 - through JDIC. See [https://jdic.dev.java.net/documentation/Examples.html|https://jdic.dev.java.net/documentation/Examples.html] for more info.

I have put a lot of work into a docx document on my Mac, but now can't open it as it gives the error message: 'the Open XML file cannot be opened because there are problems with the contents. Details, Unspecific
error, Location: 2'
When opening the original file the message said: 'this file contains word 2007 for Windows equations' etc. but I managed to track changes fine, and saved, closed and re-opened it numerous times without problem. Some graphs seemed moved, and various formulas
were illegible, but no other weirdness was observed.
I have microsoft 2008 installed on my Mac OS X version 10.6.8.
I've tried to fix it using various solutions suggested here, but am afraid am too IT illiterate to have had any luck, please help I'm new to all this!

This issue is related strictly to oMath tags and occurs when a graphical object or text box is anchored to the same paragraph that contains the equation.

Unable to open PDF file in browser using Reader 9 with IE8

I just updated to IE8 and when trying to open a PDF file on the browser, I received a message stating to use Adobe Reader 8 or 9. I downloaded AR9 and still receive the same message and cannot open PDF files in browser window. It defaults to my Adobe Acrobat 6.0 which will not open the file. I have Windows XP. I do not have a problem opening a PDF file in Yahoo mail with AR9. I have tried many different ideas on the web to no avail. Appreciate any help to be able to default to open PDF files in the browser using AR9 which is apparently required by IE8.

Fixed problem by taking to a computer store to find that my hard drive storage was maxed out. I had the hard drive repaced with a larger amount of storage. Problem resulted from inadequate amount of storage space which prevented me from downloading and installing Adobe Reader 9.

Cannot open pdf files in browser but can open from hard drive. Using Adobe 11.0.02 with Windows 8. Have uninstalled Reader and reinstalled and then restarted PC; Checked for updates; used the Repair selection on the menu. Frustrated. Suggestions?

Adobe Reader 9 is not opening same files in Browser "Error in this Page"

Adobe Reader 9 is not opening same files in Browser "Error in this Page"
If I try to open this pdf file manually then its works.
The Error comes if I try to open Big Files or some else Files in the Browser.
This Error was not comming with Adobe 8.

To uninstall Adobe Reader, make sure (using Task Manager's Processes tab) that Adobe Reader is not running. Browser windows should also be closed.
If you still cannot proceed, try in Safe Mode, or use the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility.
P.S. Adobe AIR and Acrobat.com are not directly related to Adobe Reader, and can be uninstalled independently.

Error opening excel files in browser

Okai I am currently facing an error when i try to open excel files in browser . it gives the prompt "The workbook can not be opened".
Upon checking the logs I found the following entries in the log file . recently we tried to move our site over https but later the idea was scrapped and we retracted to the old iis settings furthermore sharepoint forefront protection is also installed on our
farm .

Hi arsalan,
This issue seems to be about the forefront protection. Please try to increase Antivirus time out as SharePoint Central Administration->Security->Manage antivirus settings, then compare the result.
If this issue still exists, I suggest re-install forefront.

Issues opening xml files in CS6

I'm having a problem opening xml files in CS6. Currently, I'm able to load Dreamweaver CS6, but when I open a file labeled as .xml, the application freezes up. I have already set up my preferences to read .xml files. (some background info: I do have a previous version of 5.5 installed on the same machine. I could guess that the problem could be associated with having an earlier version of dreamweaver installed at the same time, but why would it only affect xml files?)

Have you tried opening the .xml file in NotePad or some other simple text editor? just to verify that the file is good and not corrupted.

I have read of several people having the same problem but cannot find a definitive answer. I am on an iMac with version 10.6.8 OS X. I bought and installed Office 2011 last week (version 14.4.0) and I cannot open any file that I had created in version 2008 nor any file sent to me (I use Outlook Web email). The complete error message is: "The Open XML file solar.docx cannot be opened because there are problems with the contents or the file name might contain invalid characters (for example, \/)." I am at a loss as what do do. I am not a "techie" person, so any fix needs to be "spelled" out clearly.

Instead of writing the xml to a file write it to the response. That will send it back to the browser
Or create a new JSP that opens the file and then writes it to the response.
