OpenDocument - Parameters is lost when opening the report with token

Hello,
we want to migrate our BO Enterprise (XI R3) from Tomcat to IIS.
We developed an application in which you can open reports by using the opendocument-url.
It was no problem with our old BO-Enterprise Server (tomcat/jsp), but with our new BO-System (IIS / aspx) the parameter is not passed, so that you have got to fill out the parameter mask, before the report is opened.
http://servername/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.aspx?iDocID=1926&lsSParameter=307&token=....2082J38Mfsg5PvRXmk002080JuLfwCe5XZw0T0sT
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Peter

So does it still prompt for the parameter even if you don't pass the token and you manually log on?
If so, you're asking in the wrong forum - you'd ask in the report-type-specific forum.
Sincerely,
Ted Ueda

  • Login error with report viewer when opening Crystal report with subreport

    Hi
I have a problem with a login error (database vendor code 18456) when I try to open a crystal report to view it.
The report uses data from an external payroll database but I'm running it via our Accounts system (it's a convenient front end for users to run the report from). This works fine for another report that doesn't have any subreports. However when I run the Crystal report that has subreports, the report generation process works but when the crystal reports viewer tries to open the report I get the login error. It doesn't seem to be passing the login details for the payroll database down to the subreport.
I'm using Crystal Reports version 11.0.0.1282. The Accounts system is Technology One. Tech One have provided a report template that has several formulas designed to allow Tech One to play nicely with Crystal. One of these formulas allows me to enter the nickname of the external database that the report needs to use. The external database's connection details are fully specified in the Tech One configuration section (server console). So in this case the report says use database U1 & the server console identifies U1 as being the payroll database, specifies the connection path  & has the username & password required to logon to the payroll database/server.
The report is running ok & retrieving data, but for some reason the viewer is erroring. If anyone has any ideas for how I can get the login details used to run the main report to flow through to the subreport it would be much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Sue

I understand your  frustration. We can do a few things. But really, it should be Technology One contacting us. To use an analogy (which you are free to share with Technology One). They built a car and sealed the hood. You bought the car, but he engine does not quite run as it should. You bring the car to the mechanic and all he can do is look at the car as he can not even open the hood.
In any case, here is what I would do if I could open the hood (e.g.; if I was dealing with Technology One):
    1) Look up database vendor code 18456. This is simply the error our print engine is receiving from the database client and it simply passes it through relatively unhandled. This you should be able to do your self or ask Technology One to tell you what that means.
    2) Break out the subreport and see if it runs on it's own in the application (if this is a permissions issue - which I doubt -  it should come up here too). Unfortunately, this is for Technology One to do...
    3) Run the report (with the subreport) in the CR designer. Does it work there? If this is a win app and it works, we again eliminated permission issues. And we also confirmed that the report is good. Again, Technology One should do this for you.
BTW.; CR 11.0 is out of support - not sure if you or Technology One are aware of this...
    4) Can the developer duplicate the issue on his development computer?
Now, there are couple of instances where you say something like; "the report works and gets data, but the viewer errors out":
+The report is running ok & retrieving data, but for some reason the viewer is erroring.
However when I run the Crystal report that has subreports, the report generation process works but when the crystal reports viewer tries to open the report I get the login error.  +
How do you know the report is retrieving data? From the error I would say the report never connects, thus the error / request for a logon...
    So, the short of all of this is; get Technology One to contact us. They can do it over the forums or obtain a phone case here;
    http://store.businessobjects.com/store/bobjamer/en_US/pd/productID.98078100
Now, here is a warning. As CR 11.0 is out of support Technology One will have to upgrade to CR 11.5, before that can create a phone case, which for them and you brings up another bunch of issues...
If you do not get any joy from the support person at you are talking to at Technology One, get him to escalate the issue. They are the ones that should be talking to us...

  • Invalid Year error when refreshing the report with date prompt

    Hi All,
I am working on BO XI 3.1 with Informix database.
When refreshing the report without any date prompt the report is running fine, but when applying the date prompt it is giving the error message
    "Invalid year in the date".
I have tried changing the value in the advance tab of the object property to 'yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss'
But it also din't work for me.
    Please suggest.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Rishabh

    Hi Experts,
    Thanks for your suggestions.
Since changing the PRM file was not a fesiable solution for us.
We have manged to find a work around to solve this issue
We have created the filters at universe level with following formula for all the date objects which we ere using at report level as a prompt:
    @Select(classname\objectname)=TO_DATE(@Prompt('Enter Date:','D',,mono,free,not_persistent), '%Y/%m/%d')
Although when we parse this formula it wil give an error message saying 'illigle operation',
still it will work when we use this at report level.
    Thanks and Regards,

  • Change the Locale settings when scheduling the report with an Excel format?

    Hi,
My reports have been scheduled with Excel format, however, when the report is viewed in Excel, the date fields are in the format "mm/dd/yyyy" i.e. English(United States) and they need to be in the format "dd/mm/yyyy" i.e. English (Ireland).
I am wondering if there is any way to change the Locale settings within Business Objects?
For the time being users have been advised to manually change the format within excel, however, this is not the preferred option.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
    Thanks for the reply.
The cell format is set as "Date dd/mm/yyyy" but it still runs as an Excel doc with the format mm/dd/yyyy.
When I schedule the report to run as a Web Intelligence document and then manually export it to Excel, the Date format is correct i.e. dd/mm/yyyy.
    Any more ideas?
    Regards.

  • Intermittent APPCRASH when opening a form with CrystalReportViewer

We have an application that, as part of the functionality, allows users to generate and preview a report. It uses CR for VS 2010. The report preview dialog is a Windows Form that includes a CrystalReportViewer.
This functionality works, most of the time, but we are observing intermittent APPCRASH/Stackhash crashes when this form is opened of this nature:
    Problem signature:
      Problem Event Name:  APPCRASH
      Application Name:      ****
      Application Version:    ****
      Application Timestamp:           4dd40fa4
      Fault Module Name:    StackHash_7698
      Fault Module Version:  6.1.7600.16385
      Fault Module Timestamp:         4a5be02b
      Exception Code:         c0000374
      Exception Offset:        00000000000c6cd2
      OS Version:    6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.48
      Locale ID:       1033
      Additional Information 1:          7698
      Additional Information 2:          7698c42b9ee8da1ebad3b3c9521cacfd
      Additional Information 3:          ad41
      Additional Information 4:          ad418ba72161d4cd11d7688fd368f113
This crash occurs intermittently. We have an automated script that tests the GUI and it may run for 5 minutes or several hours before encountering this error, with a handful, to tens, perhaps over a hundred report generated successfully.
As we understand it, the error code c0000374 means:
    // MessageId: STATUS_HEAP_CORRUPTION
    // MessageText:
// A heap has been corrupted.
CR is not the only part of our application that uses unmanaged memory, but this crash consistently happens when opening the dialog with a CR component in it (which renders a report).
I realize I've left out a lot of potential information, but will add more upon request. This problem is causing us quite some headaches and I just wanted to see if anyone else has experienced something similar.
    Any ideas?

    Hello Zamir.
Many thanks for the great answers (I wish I could post this thread as an example to all ).
Same to you. Debugging issues like this is never fun, but I know from experience that clarity from both sides helps us get to a resolution
Let's start with SP1. You may already be using it. Check the version of the crpe32.dll (C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\Crystal Reports for .NET Framework 4.0\Common\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win64_x64). It should be 13.0.1.220, if it is, we're on SP1. If it is not, understanding your concerns, going to SP1 will still be the DE thing to do. E.g.; I will not do any testing unless you are on SP1 (sounds bad I know, but just laying the cards on the table - face up )...
I checked both my development machine and a production system that I have access to in-house (which is able to reproduce the problem via a script). Luckily for me, both are at version 13.0.1.220.
The fact that you are not able to reproduce the issue on your development system my actually be quite encouraging and perhaps a starting place for us (given the SP1 conundrum). It will be interesting to compare the dlls (both Crystal and database client). Normally the Modules utility is very useful for comparing dlls loading on a computer that works and one that does not. As this is a 64 bit app, it will be a bit trickier. Modules works really well on 32 bit apps. On 64 bit apps it does not save the log. You can still see it, but not save it. Anyhow, I am attaching a 64 bit version of Modules. You will have to check the versions of the CR DLLs and database client DLLs by looking at the logs and writing the info down
I'm having a bit of trouble with the Modules utility. I launched it and when I get it to generate a list, I cannot see the process for our application in the list. It is running and appears in the task manager, but it is not listed under the list of processes, nor do I see any of it's loaded DLLs. Any ideas?
Re. apps compiled as "Any CPU". These should work - as long as only the correct "bitness" CR runtime is deployed. E.g.; On a 64 bit OS, do not deploy both a 32 bit and a 64 bit runtime. This may cause issues. My recommendation in the previous post was a rather blanket recommendation that quickly eliminates all kinds of confusions for many people.
Thanks for the clarification. I am going to stick with 'Any CPU' because I know that we only deploy the x64 runtime and if I switch to explicit x64 compilation, Visual Studio reports some false-positive warnings that I'd rather not have (it's a bug in Visual Studio).
Re. the database - SQL Server CE v3.5 SP2, OLE DB. Make absolutely sure the db client is the same on the problem computer as it is on your development computer. Use Modules for that. If htere is a later SP, apply that. I can not overstate the importance of this.
As above, I could not use modules, but I did confirm the DLL versions in their respective Program Files location on both machines and they were the same (3.5.8080.0).
It will be important for these users to let us have screen shots of the issue as they get it. I realize this may be an inconvenience to the customer, but what is essentially a hearsay evidence from what is typically a non technical user is always something to take with a grain of salt.
I just talked to one of our field engineers and he has seen screenshots to confirm it is the same issue as the one we can reproduce in-house.
One thing to be absolutely sure of is that you are using .Close and .Dispose on the report objects as the user is done with them.
We do, in general, make these calls and recently have gone through our code for memory leak possibilities, so this was recently checked for by developers.
One other possible source of issues; printer drivers. Specifically printer drivers not designed for the particular OS. Ensure that the printer driver(s) used by the customer on that WIN 7 are designed for WIN 7 - even if they are only viewing and or exporting. CR has a large dependency on printer drivers.
We use the Samsung CLP-320 and the driver package it installs are "Win 2000/XP/2003/Vista/2008/Win 7(32,64bit)", so I assume the correct version gets installed on our Win 7 x64 system.

  • Error: Failed to open the connection when opening Crystal Report in CMC or

    Hello all,
I am getting theError: Failed to open the connection when opening Crystal Report in CMC or Infoview
with access database as the datasource which is in the network drive.

    Hi Sonali,
This is because Crystal Reports does not recognize database connection from share drive
    1. Save the database locally on server machine
    2. Create a new database on server and link the new database with the database on Network.
    Steps to link the database.
1.Create a new test database on server.
    2. Go to File --> Get External Data --> Link tables | Select the database on Network Drive.
    3. Select all the tables from the database.
    4. Save the Database  e.g. Test.mdb.
    5. Create an ODBC Connection on server machine, with the same name as on client machine using test.mdb database.
Note: Click on Advanced button, enter the default user id and password for the odbc connection, it is not mandatory to give Login Name and Password, only if the user id and password are given then we need to provide the same user id and password in the CMC database configuration.
    6. Create a report using this ODBC connection, and save the report to Enterprise.

  • How to save the credentials in windows security when opening a report?

How to save the credentials in windows security when opening a report?
in Silverlight program, user click a link to SQL server report services link, it pops up a new IE window and ask for windows security.
Type the user name password in and check save password. reports showed and close IE. user click again, the same windows security popup dialog showed up. how to really remember the credentials?
If keep the IE open, reports shows in second tab of the same IE window for the second click, and it didn't ask for the windows security.

    Hi Lascorpion,
According to your description, users need to type username and password before they can open the SSRS report when reopening IE, right? If I have anything misunderstood, please point it out.
Base on my research, this issue offten occurs on IE9 which ships with Windows 7 operating systems. In this case, to avoid this issue we can add the report URL to the trust site, for the detail information, please refer to the link below.

  • How I prevent the batting linestyle from being lost when opening an Autocad file in Illustrator?

I have worked out how to open Autocad files in Illustrator, but Illustrator does not obviously recognise the batting linestyle I have used for insulation and it only appears as a straight line. Is there any where to preserve the batting line when opening the file in Illustrator?

If a linestyle is not coming over, I would assign a unique color in CAD. This way you can select similar color in Illustrator, and change them easily in Illustrator.

This happens only when I use JAVA viewer. it works fine in ActiveX and HTML but I want this in JAVA viewer as i'm including this page in my JAVA application and it should open the report in the same window. I tried using "<a>URL</a>" and also target="_self" by HTML interpretation for that object but still the same problem. I have also tried using a hyperlink containing javascript
    eg.
    javascript:window.location.href='http://www.sap.com'

  • Problem connection to database when opening Crystal Report in VB6 app

Hi all, first post, so be gentle!
I've developed a simple app and database using VB6 and SQL Server 2005 and is seems to be working well when i test it.
Problem i have is after i installed the app on another PC. When the user tries to open the report they get an error when the report tries to connect to the database. It appears the report is trying to connect to the SQL Server using the user's AD account details, yet i set the report up with a trusted connection. I created a replica ODBC connection (as used by me when designing the report) on the users PC to see if that was what was missing. THis was set up to use the generic SQL Server logon details. Unfortubately the report is still trying to connect with the user's AD details.
I had a bash at creating the VB commands to set the connection settings, but i couldn't get this to work.
If anyone can help point me in the right direction or show me the correct code/steps to get th connection details correct, i'd be very grateful.
Here is the code i have in my app:
    (Form1)
    Dim crxApplication As New CRAXDRT.Application
    Public Report As CRAXDRT.Report
    Private Sub cmdRunReport_Click()
    ReportPath = App.Path & "\" & File1.FileName
    If (File1.FileName = "SKU MTM Report - ADR.rpt" Or File1.FileName = "SKU MTM Report - BS100.rpt") Then
        Set Report = crxApplication.OpenReport(ReportPath, 1)
        Report.ParameterFields.Item(1).AddCurrentValue (Trim(DataCombo1.Text))
        Report.ParameterFields.Item(2).AddCurrentValue (Trim(DataCombo2.Text))
        Report.ParameterFields.Item(3).AddCurrentValue (Trim(DataCombo3.Text))
    End If
    frmreports2.Show
    End Sub
(Form2 with Crystal ActiveX Viewer component)
    Private Sub Form_Load()
    CrystalActiveXReportViewer1.ReportSource = frmReports.Report
    CrystalActiveXReportViewer1.ViewReport
    End Sub
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Here is an article on how to distribute the runtime using msm files. I think the articles was written in CR 9, but all applies, save the names of the msm files:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/901c0761-cf1d-2b10-dea4-8e83937a9337
Note that you have to use a utility such as Wise, InstallShield, MS Visual Installer, etc., to create your deployment.
I have also created a short wiki that describes the msm downloads for each version of CR:
