OpenDocument Printer button open always the PDF Export

Hello
I am using a COM object to pilot the generation of Crystal Reports from Crystal Server using the OpenDocument Viewer.
From the COM Object I open a new Internet Explorer window with the URL of the report to open and everything is working fine: the viewer is opened, the report generated and displayed on the screen.
There is only one problem: when I push the Print Button, the Viewer insists to open an Export to PDF window, and I must generate a intermediary PDF file before printing (see picture).
On the other hand, when I use the View Report from CMC, I get the proper Print dialog box, with all printers and options displayed correctly in the viewer.
It seems that the OpenDocument viewer is unable to open the Print Dialog correctly and it just proposes me to export before printing, while the direct call to the report from CMC is working as expected.
I would like to know if this is the normal implementation (so no possibility to open the Print dialog from OpenDocument) or I am missing something.
Please note that I have done the following:
1) Setup the correct Printer Option in the Report
2) Changed the Crystal Reports in CMC -> Preferences -> Crystal Reports and tried all (Web, Web ActiveX, Web Java). None of the settings seems to impact OpenDocument viewer, but they are taken into consideration if I view the report via CMC
3) Added a couple of fake printers in Crystal Reports Printer List (Application->Crystal Reports Configuration -> Printer List) with no success.
Any information you can provide me would be greatly appreciated.
Best regards

Hello Ludek
thank you for the hint on the viewer.
I have seen in some post where it is explained how to change a property in the viewer. In this specific case I do not manage directly a viewer object in the code. I just write down the url in a Internet Explorer process that open the viewer using mainly REST API, something like:
http://MYSERVER:8080/BOE/OpenDocument/1407242304/CrystalReports/viewrpt.cwr?id=10277
So unless I can specify the PrintMode via a URL parameter, I cannot interact directly with the Viewer. The COM object is a piece of software that is executed on the user workstation that uses REST API to communicate the commands to the central Crystal Server. I have for example implemented a method to browse the repository using REST and then parsing the resulted XML in the COM object, by creating a local representation of the folders.
In this way my COM object is like a proxy from a local application and Crystal Server.
Regards
Angelo

In Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
To open your domain file in Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1

Iphoto gives message "no images were selected" when hit print button.  Yet the the images are clearly selected in the print window.  I've printed hundreds of images without a problem before.  Iphoto 6.0.6, MAC 10.5.8, Suggestions?

I have recently started having this problem in PSE8. The Adobe workaround
did work, but I don't fancy having to re register each time I use it.
What I have discovered is that it's nothing to do with the image metadata as it occurs before any image is opened.
It SEEMS to only occur if you use file/open with to open an image in the editor - IE start PSE with that command.
If you close elements down, and start it using programs/PSE/Elements (or your desktop shortcut) - the panorama feature magically works.
Each time I've opened the editor 'automatically' using image/open with, it seems to create the problem.
    Hope this helps

  • I have Windows 98 and need Acrobat to open up the pdf files for 5.0

I have the old system, Windows 98 and presently have the free Adobe 5.0 version on my Compaq Presario Computer, and it is a 5242 model desktop.
I have inadvertanly switched over to Compaq Carbon Copy 32 Version 5.0 but since, have uninstalled it and now, on each of what was the pdf files initially of which I have, of which is at least 16 or more, on each of those files, an error message comes up and says "PROGRAM NOT FOUND," and states the following: "Windows cannot find CCW32EXE. This program is needed for opening the pdf files." And then it has a dialogue box with the computer operational symbol in it as C:\ and then it wants me to locate it. I cannot locate it through the "auto" because, this sytem being so old, doesn't have a magnifying glass or a "search" tool to do this in the "My Computer Icon on the Desktop as the Compaq people wanted me to do. I would have to do this manually. I have already talked to the Compaq people on their chat line and because of this, they said they couldn't help me with this problem and referred me over to you.
I've tried to find a download for 5.0, though I really don't think I need one since it is currently installed. I believe the proper way to fix this is to just convert the CCW32EXE over to the Acrobat pdf files and have those files opened and should open up all of my 15 or so files altogether at the same time because they all converted over to something else at the same time prior.
Are you able to help me?
But I believe to alleviate this problem, if you could just give me the information to be able to open up the pdf files to 5.0 and find out what download I may pursue, it might be able to correct this problem. I already have the 5.0 Acrobat installed, however.

    Hi Aandi,
I have followed your directions and I have the old system of Windows 98, so I had to go to "programs" and come up to Acrobat 5.0 and once in there, all of the Window there is greyed out, although I can still go to the tool bars above in it. I went to "file" and went to "open" and from there, I received an "open" window with a dialogue box in it and in that dialogue box as I scrolled down, it wants me to put in there, one of the following, "desktop," "my documents," "3 1/2 floppy [A:]," "[C:]," "system _save [D:]," ""[E:," "[F:]," ete; of these which do I pick in the "open" dialogue box? and down at the bottom, is the FILE NAME and what do I put in there? Just below that, it has the FILES OF TYPE which has there Adobe pdf Files, in it's dialogue box. I hit these, but I still get an error message of which basically says, "NOT FOUND, please put in proper file name given." And I don't know actually where it is given.
So, as you see, I am a novice in all of this and you can contact me at my e mail address which is [email protected]
and should a reply be needed, I'll come back to the forum for a reply.
I really need to open up the Adobe 5.0 pdf files. All of the pdf files, simultaneously went over to Compaq Carbon Copy 32 of which I since, uninstalled. But I really need to get back and open the Adobe 5.0 pdf files.
And I want to thank you for your support and eagerly awaiting your help.
    Thanks,
Now, I did do one of the following: I went to C: which came to Acobat 3 and I hit that which came to Reader and I hit that which came to the following: ACROBAT which gave me ACTIVE X - BROWSER - FONTS - HELP - OPTIONAL - PLUG-INS

  • How to set the column width in the PDF exports of interactive reports ?

    Hello,
I have a huge problem with the PDF export for the Interactive reports. I'm using APEX 3.2.
I have to produce a PDF report in landscape format that show 21 columns. My problem is that the columns have a ridiculous short width and that the text inside the columns do not wrap in the columns. So I get things like that :
    Date Name
    2011 Leina
I should see 2011-08-01 and the name Leinad Jan
I tried several things to format the columns, but none of the them has any effect on the PDF itself.
    1) I used HTML code in the report query. It works well with the interactive report, but display the HTML tags in the PDF.
    2) I used css to set the width of my columns. It works in the interactive report, but not in the PDF, the column width do not change.
It's like the report do not notice that my page format is Legal 14 x 8.5 (Landscape) and still believe it's 8.5 x 11 (which is "portrait")
Do you have any idea so set the columkn widths in the reports ?
    Thank you !

To "remember" the column widths, add a mouse listener to the table header. Upon mouseReleased(), get the column widths and save them to your file. When the application starts next time, get the stored widths and set them using:
    table.getColumn("XXX").setPreferredWidth(...);
By default, your columns are adjustable, but you can use:
    table.getTableHeader().setResizingAllowed(true);

My iBook has at least 350 PDF file, some of them big i.e 40 MB

Yup, it was uploaded to our school Wiki as a PDF, and Pages did open it.  I was then able to move it to iBooks, but I'd rather avoid the extra steps.

  • HT204365 I opened a PDF in iBooks, but I don't know how to close it. Every time I open iBooks the PDF opens with no option to close. Any suggestions on how to get back to book shelf?

I opened a PDF in iBooks, but now I can not close it. Every time I open iBooks, the PDF is opened and I can't close it. Any suggestions on how to close it and get back to the book shelf?

Do you have an icon at the top of the page that says 'Library'? Tap that to get back. If not, just tap on the page that shows up and this should bring up the icons at the top for Library, another for the contents of the book, and the text size, search, and bookmark.

  • Adobe PDF printer failed to create the PDF file

Just installed Acrobat 9 Standard on new HP Touchsmart running Vista 64 bit - tried to create a pdf from a *.pub, and got the error message above, and "please correct the error and try again".  If I knew what the error was, I'd try to correct it.

If you check the PDF file with ctrl-D and select the font tab, you will likely find that the font you mention is not embedded. The font not being embedded will make major differences in terms of what fonts Acrobat or Reader finds to do a substitution. Also, the fonts may not display correctly if you have the Use Local Fonts check box selected incorrectly (just try changing that choice).
Fonts can be a major issue in terms of licensing for embedding and such. Also, different job.settings file selections may cause fonts to not be properly embedded.
Since the printer works, the issue of the other packages is the need for PDF Maker to be active in those applications that you are trying to import files from. To check PDF Maker, you need to test it in those applications, not in Acrobat. Trying things in Acrobat is the last step, not the first step. In WORD, there is a need for certain settings to be properly set to allow PDF Maker to work. These may be the issues you are having. So, go back to the applications of interst and be sure that PDF Maker works from the application -- this is the create PDF button.

  • Has anyone got problems with the PDF exporter in Ooo 2.3.1 under windows

    Hi All,
Sorry for the vague nature of this post, I need to get some ideas if I have a localized problem or if others are suffering the same issue.
I have a Windows XP machine with SP2 and 512 meg ram
    I run Ooo 2.3.1
I open a html document and work on it - save it and print to paper, it all works.
I then hit the PDF Icon and the whole app locks up. Can someone else verify that they are having this issue?
    Thanks
    Ben

Thanks for this, I will have a complete uninstall re-install session later today then (again) and see whats the issue.

  • Captivate 8 : the PDF export created a file with a PDF extension.. but it's actually a video. Shouldn't it export the slides as a proper PDF document ?

In Adobe Captivate, there is a "PDF export" checkbox available when you publish your project.
It checked the box, and the project pulication created a file with a PDF extension.. but it's actually a video. Shouldn't it export the slides as a proper PDF document ?

Thanks for the quick answer. I did not know about interactive PDFs..
I just found how to export as a Word document. I would have expected to find that option in "Publish" or "Export", not "Print".. Anyway, I now have what I needed

  • What is the shortcut to "print" and then email the PDF

I email pages that I have "printed" out all the time.
But it takes three steps to do this
    1. Command P to "print" the page
    2. Then move the mouse to the PDF button on the bottom left
    3. Then scroll down to the "Mail PDF" option
Would it not be wonderful to be able to do this in a single click.
    Please can someone help.
    Thank you

  • I just subscribed to the PDF export service and i don't understand how it works.

OK, having received no replies, I was successful in getting the PDF to convert from Adobe Reader by rebooting my computer then signing out and signing back in.  Now it responded to the convert function in the tools sidebar.  The resulting Word file from this particular PDF contained many character recognitions errors, but at least it worked.
I have subscribed to the Export PDF service.  I have uploaded a PDF file to the Export PDF panel.  I have clicked "view all files" and checked to box next to my file (the only one).  Nothing happens.  What do i do next? There seems to be nothing intuitive to click or check.
Further, I have attempted to "convert" my PDF file within Adobe Reader.  There is a "tools" sidebar which lists my curent file and an opportunity to conver to Word or EXCEL, but it tells me to "subscribe" which I already have.  ????

Maybe helpful to look thru Getting started doc
    http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-2412
Also it maybe useful to check “Learn more” links on https://www.acrobat.com/exportpdf/en/home.html?trackingid=KFWEH
Try to sign in with your ExportPDF account in Browser and use the Web ExportPDF service in Browser.
Then you could start using Adobe Reader X or Reader XI. Open in Reader a PDF file you want to convert. Open Tools panel on the right-hand-side, and click Sign In link at the top  - it open Sign In dialog. You need to sign in with your Adobe ID and password and then you could use Export PDF service in Reader.
    Hope it helps:-)

  • There is no print button/icon in the customize pane. Where is it?

I cannot find the print button. It is not under the "three line" button, nor in the customize pane, whether I open customize via that button or by right clicking on the toolbar. I have tried installing Print/Print Preview (0.9), but can't see that either.

Why are they trying to reinvent the wheel? I want a full time Menu Bar with a Standard Print Button that everyone is use to. I want to be able to click on the Print Button and the results is same as "Ctrl P"

  • My Verizon email "print" button opens a blank "print preview" window.

Help!  I am running Windows 7 and  I.E. 8. on a new HP Pavilion. I cannot print an email from the Verizon Web site in a "printer friendly" format without the entire web page printing and advertising. I get a blank pop-up Window where the "preview" should be.
I believe I should be able to get an answer from the support helpline, but I cannot. Apparently I have to pay for "premium service" if I understand the sales pitch I get every time I call support, but no one takes the time to tell me what is included in "premium" service.  I can print from other web sites using a "printer friendly" format.

#1 In mine, I got text that says This message contains unloaded images.
So: I had to click on load images.
#2 Then I clicked on print.
#3 I am on Windows XP SP3 with Firefox, it works fine here.
