OpenGL support w/ Radeon 4290 + 5830
I have an onboard Radeon 4290 (gigabyte motherboard GA-890GPA-UD3H) and a Radeon 5830 videocard, I use both so I can use 2 monitors to work with. When my 4290 is not disabled, PS CS5 64bit fail to load and then deactivate OpenGL so it start the next time.
When I desactivate my 4290, Everything is fine.
Can it be solved in some way or I must wait for a PS patch?
I am using ATI CCC 10.5 drivers, I've read that someone downgraded to 10.2 and it worked. but I'd prefere not to downgrade. It be best if PS supported it.
My understanding is that Photoshop does not support using more than one video card. I doubt you're going to see a patch to fix this.

Xorg, xf86-video-ati - no OpenGL rendering [Mobility Radeon HD 5000]
Hello
I got a new laptop (Asus b53j, EU version with an i3 - should be same hardware otherwise) and of course it needs to run Arch, or it'll slowly rust.
It has an option to switch the graphics card in Windows (From Intel to ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5000 Series), which I guess might have something to do with this issue.
I'm unable to get any OpenGL rendering working, using the xf86-video-ati driver.

I wonder why it's telling me it's disabled or not working.. hrm. -
OpenGL support does not seem to be working on PhotoshopCC. The HUD color picker does not appear and when I try to rotate the canvas, a message pops up that says the rewuest could not be completed because it only works with OpenGL enabled windows.
I have two NVIDIA Quadro K600 cards (with up to date drivers), a Cintiq monitor and a new Dell workstation. I'm using the trial version of Photoshop CC. (I had to replace my computer recently because the old one died, and rather than reinstalling CS4 I decided to try CC and see how I liked it)
My machine is a powerful graphics computer, so it ought to be able to handle OpenGL. Under Preferences/Performance I do have "Use Graphics Processor" checked, but it does not help.Adobe Photoshop Version: 14.0 (14.0 20130423.r.221 2013/04/23:23:00:00) x64

I've lost OpenGL support with KVM switch. Help!
I have a Win7 64 machine and an XP machine at work. I installed an Iomega KVM switch to use the same monitor/keyboard/mouse with both computers. Problem is, once I installed the KVM, Photoshop can't detect my video card, so I lose OpenGL support. Very irritating. Anyone had this problem and/or know of a solution? Thanks!
Did you reboot Windows after plugging the monitor into the computer?
On another note, it's possible a recent video driver update changed the behavior. Photoshop queries the OpenGL system for its capabilities, and if something's gotten broken Photoshop might not allow the OpenGL operations. What video card do you have?
There is a workaround you can try - a registry tweak - that will instruct Photoshop to use OpenGL calls anyway:
Go to this site: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4056
Download the file and extract AllowOldGPUS_ON.reg. You don't say which version of Photoshop you're using, but if it's CS4 the file is good to use as is. If CS5 then you'll need to edit the file with a text editor to change 11.0 to 12.0. Make sure you're an Administrator and double click the file to enter it into your registry.

Updated Drivers / Proper OpenGL Support for T400/T500 Models with Switchable Graphics
Dear Lenovo, Dear interested users,
when will an updated switchable graphics driver for Windows Vista (and also Win7, they are both quite outdated) finally be available? The drivers are completely outdated!
With the current driver for Windows Vista (Version 8.563.2.1-090401a-079160C) only a fraction of OpenGL extensions are supported:
The internal Intel GMA 4500MHD can only Handle OpenGL 1.1 (instead of OpenGL 2.1 it is certified for). Therefore most applications needing OpenGL won't run.
The dedicated ATI Radeon 3470 only supports OpenGL 2.1 (instead of OpenGL 3.1 it is certified for).
You can verify this behavior with the utility "OpenGL Extensions Viewer".
I hope Lenovo didn't close the chapter switchable graphics for T400/T500 systems. It would be a shame for a company claiming to be a leader in business computing to deliver such poor driver-support.
In hopeful expectance of updated drivers,
PatrickI'm having the same problems. Is anyone reading this?

OpenGL support in AS 3.0
The success of PV3D proves the need for 3D support in Flash,
which would be greatly enhanced if the GPU capabilities
offered by most PCs today could be activated in Flash.
I was thinking that there is a (simple?) solution to this
consisting in extending the AS 3.0 framework by:
- including a class offering a binding to a small subset of
the ubiquitous OpenGL API.
- making possible to transfert the content of an AS3.0 bitmap
to and from an OpenGL texture
This approach would make possible to render at full speed
complex 3D models in OpenGL textures, and then inject their
aspect in Flash scenes.
I suppose that PV3D could easily take advantage of such a
capacity at the implementation level, without
changing the signature of its classes.
Any comment?
PhilippeHi James
I have code of 1600 lines and its not possible for me to
paste it. Actually my code is not generating any rows. On auto
arrange I am telling myUIloader1 to go to 0,0 and myUILoader2 to go
to 100,100 and so on..
Actually I am interested in creating rows and if user puts
any UILoader in between the rows then those rows shrink
Hope that helps

Photoshop CS5 OpenGL support with latest Intel integrated graphics?
Intel's latest "Sandy Bridge" CPUs (Core i5 2500, Core i7 2600, etc.) included much-improved integrated GPUs, thus allowing for systems that do not require a discrete graphics card. Although not suitable for high-end gaming, the specs appear to be more than enough for Photoshop CS5's GPU acceleration needs. Can anyone confirm or deny that CS5 will be able to take advantage of the new Intel HD 2000 and HD 3000 graphics? The driver specs say it supports OpenGL 3.0 and Shader Model 4.0, both of which satisfy the minimum requirements of OpenGL 2.1 and Shader Model 3.0 for Photoshop CS5.
I'm 99% sure the latest hardware is supported, as Adobe's own document mentions "Intel HD Graphics", just not the specific model numbers. The document was also last updated in November 2010, before the current series of CPUs were released to the public.

Having implemented my own OpenGL applications over the past several years, I can tell you that it's absolutely not that simple. The word "surely" cannot be applied here.
Photoshop, in displaying 2D things with a 3D system, is NO DOUBT using OpenGL differently than any other application has ever used OpenGL. It's the nature of the beast. What they put in which type of buffers at what time in which mode using what calls in which order and using what performance features are all open choices. The software itself makes choices at run time about what parts to use based on OpenGL version and advertised capabilities. Plus they're using Shaders (on-GPU programming), and there are a bunch of different ways to get that done as well.
In order for a system to run perfectly, the applications and video driver / GPU subsystem have to get things exactly right all the time every time, and not just for Photoshop but for all the other apps (and Aero) as well. Though Intel and the others may do plenty of testing, what might work on a test bench might not work when combined dynamically with other things in ways that only happen on an end-user system. Note the number of video game bugs fixed in each driver release.
However complex you think OpenGL is, multiply that by 100 or more and you may be getting into the ballpark.

After Effects CS5 and Open GL support on Radeon HD 6000 series
My friend just got me a new graphics card, a Radeon HD 6750, and I was curious if AE could still utilize the card for some OpenGL accelerated rendering despite not being on the list Adobe has posted.
No. It can't. Sorry. You just have to forget about using Open GL to accelerate AE rendering. It has never worked well in the past, and it doesn't work well now.
Here's a revealing fact: when they render in AE, many, MANY Adobe employees make sure Open GL acceleration is turned off for rendering. Perhaps all of them do that.
Now: considering that this is a forum on the Adobe web site, which is constantly scrutinized by Adobe employees, it won't take very long at all for someone to contradict me if my so-called "revealing fact" is incorrect, will it? -

OpenGL Support not functioning properly
Hey guys
Just got CS4 and a Nvidia 260 GTX, but when i try to use the OpenGL drawing nothing shows up i.e. the image just turns transparent.
I've been going through the troubleshooting on the subject and as far as i can see this should be working.
The card is supported and the drivers are up-to-date, PS is up-to-date as well.
The card functions properly in all other applications i use it for, maybe you have some insight into this issue.Eckshale wrote:

T400 - Integrated Intel Chipset - OpenGL support
We've had some new T400's delivered with just the integrated intel graphics.
Trying to install a Video client (Tandberg MOVI), I get an error that the system only supports OpenGL 1.1, whereas the client needs 1.2. I've updated to the latest drivers - but still get the same error.
I've contacted Intel who told me to contact Lenovo - so thought I'd post on here.
I am running Windows 7 x64, any new drivers that anyone's aware of? or a way to force the system to think it supports 1.2?
Thanks.The Intel site states:
The integrated graphics controller of the Intel® G45/G43/G41/Q43/Q45 Express Chipsets and Mobile Intel® 4 Series Express Chipset Family supports hardware acceleration for OpenGL* applications in 16-bit and 32-bit color depths. The latest Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator drivers provide support for the OpenGL version 2.0.
However when I run my program, it states the system only supports 1.1 - I have updated to the latest drivers. -

I have installed Mesa on my machine, but an extension needed by Java3D is missing, so it won't work.
Thanks in advance

Hardware OpenGL support in parallels
Hello everybody.
I am operating a 3D graphic intensive application, which requires hardware accelerated OpenGL.
It seems that this feature does not function under Parallels, though the card is supported in native Windows 7 (through bootcamp).
I am using macbook pro 7.1 (spring 2010), with video card Nvidia Geforce 320M
Any ideas what parallels video driver (if any) should be used?
Thanks all,
Y.This question was asked some time ago, word for word!

It seems that on several large projects (VMWare, a few games out there being developed for OS X too), the issue of the Intel GMAs not having proper OpenGL support in Apple's drivers have been a problem for months now.
The thing is, the GMA 950 is capable of OpenGL 1.4 functions, the GMA X3100 is capable of OpenGL 1.5 functions. Unfortunately, the drivers for both have never been updated past 1.2...
What's going on?! As usual the only two ways to fix this are workarounds (disabling multi-texturing for example, something that has to be done by the developer), or simply booting into Windows where Intel actually took writing the driver seriously.
I understand that Intel and Apple are supposed to have something special going on (promising more custom projects like the MacBook Air), but why are they not keeping these things more on top of the ball?
If there haven't been any bug reports about it, take this one as a big one. I'm sure that a lot of people (even those who don't know why MacBooks and Mac Minis can't run certain programs they wish to use in OS X), would appreciate it.
Thank you.Hi OoTLink;
This is not the place to file bug reports.

Newbie question: sqlca.sqlcode positive or negative?
Good afternoon, we have a database based application, launching SQL queries on an Oracle 8.1.7 database. These queries return sqlca.sqlcode values, like 0 in case of succesful and 1403/-1403 in case of unsuccesful. Exactly the latter is a problem: th

Hi All, Whilst I'm debugging, I just wanted to ask a quick few basic questions on using Asterisk and the 3102 together. The only port I was able to connect into the 3102 via IP was the Internet port, so my LAN is connected into that. The 3102 doesnt
