Opening an External Window which shares the same context.
Hi,
I have a requirement where <b>I need to open an external window which shares the same context</b>. (i.e, A window which belongs to the same application in a seperate browser)
If I use the following coding <b>it only opens a model window in the same browser</b>.
IWDWindowInfo winInfo = wdComponentAPI.getComponentInfo().findInWindows("NewWindow");
IWDWindow window = wdComponentAPI.getWindowManager().createWindow(winInfo,false);
But if I use wdComponentAPI.getWindowManager().CreateExternalWindow() <b>it could only accept the URL that opens a seperate application with different context</b>.
Please help me in this regard.

Dont feel bad that i am asking you more questions than giving you answers.
if you just want to show content or let the user enter data or something you can use always popup modal/non modal window.
External window is used to refer to other website or other applications in otherwords referring other url.
So your workaround would be relaxing your requirement and redesign your application.
This is my view point.Probably some other expert sdn'ers might have better one you know.

BTW- if you decided to follow nagarajan suggession then you have to use URL generator to generate the URL.Using static URL is depreciated and also wont work in your Customer places.

Hi, I have below two test html pages as below(could not find a way to insert a attachment, so paste the content below). The reproduce step is as below: (My environment is Win8.1 with IE11)
1. Open print_test.html page in IE, here we call page1.
2. Click "File -> New Session" menu from IE menu bar, which will open another new IE window which display another " print_test.html" page, here we call page 2.
3. Click "Print" hyper-link in page1, and a popup window which display "print_test_open.html" page, counting begins from 1, here we call it page 3.
4. Click "Print" hyper-link in page2, and another popup window which display "print_test_open.html" page, counting begins from 1, here we call it page 4.
However, the behavior above is totally different on my Win7 (64 bit) with IE 10, which is in step 4, when I click "Print" hyper-link in page2, instead of open a new popup window, the window for page 3 will be reused and counting will restart from

I googled and know from MDN for window.open() and get below information to indicate that in my test pages, I use the same window name, so that the existed window with the same name will be reused is as expected, but however, why IE behave differently in
Win8.1 with IE 11? Why the existed window could not be reused anymore?
If a window with the name strWindowName already exists, then, instead of opening a new window, strUrl is loaded into the existing window. In this case the return value of the method is the existing window.
The behavior in Win8.1 + IE 11 is similar with what Google Chrome does, and Chrome's explanation is that two separated window using separated processes which do no share information, so that even using the same window name. twp separated windows will

4 iexplore.exe processes, two of them are 64 bit, and two of them are 32 bit. I can't see any configuration difference between these two envs, but why the behavior is so different?

Oh, btw, another colleague can reproduce the issue (open separated windows even using the same window name) in his Win7 64 bit with IE 10 env, but could not reproduce in his Win 32 bit with IE 10 env... Hope this information could also do help.

Can Bootcamp and Parallels share the same Windows applications and data?
I'm looking at getting an Intel iMac which will let me throw away my old PC - Yeah!
I will have a couple of Win apps that I will need to hang on to (Quicken - Quicken for Mac is horrible, but that's another tghread). Anyway, can Bootcamp and Parallels share the same Windows applications and data?
My thought would be to allow my wife to access Quicken from Parallels and not have to reboot. She will only need lightweight access and the overhead of running virtualization wouldn't impact her. I, on the other hand, would want to occasionally boot natively into Windows and run the same application with the same datafile. Is this possible?

Re: Quicken vs MoneyDance - I looked at MoneyDance a while back and while it is comparable to Quicken for Mac, it isn't comparable to Quicken for Windows (ergo, Quicken for Mac isn't comparable to Quicken for Windows!). But, as I said, that is a topic for another thread!
Re: Using Bootcamp/Parallels for only one app: I actually have several apps that I still need access to on Windows. I work with many business applications than only run/are supported on Windows as well as receive some complex Office documents which Office for Mac cannot handle. Quicken (for Windows 2007) was just the best example of a consumer app where I could see wanting access from both OS X and Windows. -
Help needed to log into an Open Directory account which has the same username as the local account

I have successfully setup a Mac OS X Lion Server and it is an Open Directory Master. On the server Ihave created an account with the name 'Connor'. I have numerous Macs (allrunning OS X 10.7 Lion) connected to this server but on one of the Macs thereis a local account with the name 'Connor' too (the local and networked accountshave different passwords). I want to log into the Open Directory account onthat mac. So, I have done an authenticated bind to the server, but when I go tolog in the password box shakes. I think the computer thinks I am trying to loginto the local account and not the Open Directory account. On Windows, I canlog into either the local accounts or the networked accounts by typing\LOCAL-COMPUTER-NAME\Connor. So, I was wondering if there was a similar commandto do this on Mac.
I don't think I haveworded this very well, so if someone doesn't understand please ask me somequestion about the problem and I will try and explain it better.
Any help would be greatlyappreciated,
ConnorMaybe I didn't make myself clear. I have used directory utility to do an authenticated bind to my server. I also have no problem logging into other accounts in the Open Directory. But, I just can't log into the account which has the same name both in the Open Directory and locally.
Was there something I missed in Directory Utility? Could you please help me if this is so.

This is the general policy on which all websites are built. Even if you try to login the same website from another web browser, you won't be able to login from the second platform either. I just check it. Tried on Mozilla and Internet Explorer. -
How can I share the same Firefox profiles / settings among multiple users on Windows XP?
I am installing Firefox on Windows XP and have imported all settings, add-ons, etc, from a previous installation.
I did the installation under the Admin account, but I would like to have the same settings and everything else available to some of the other users on the machine (but not all). How can I do this?

-Danny.I understand what is in and where the profiles are, but my issue is that I want Firefox to let me use the same profile whether, for example, I am logged onto the XP system as "Admin" or "User1" I do not want to share the same profile for all users of the machine, just specific users, and I do not want to have to duplicate all of the information that is in the profile in each of the specific user's Application Data settings folders under XP (C:\Documents and Settings\USER-NAME\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\[profile-name]) for the user's in question.
Am I making sense here?

I worked with files in LR that were originally on my C drive, then were moved to an external HD for storage. I now want to do some more work on those files (which have the same file name as on the C drive). I plugged the drive into my computer and it shows in LR under folders as the F drive and the little green light is on, but LR is showing only the first 6 files and not the remaining 200 or so. How do I expand the F folder to expose all files?

New Camera RAW in Photoshop CC 2014 won't open multiple Panasonic RAW (.rw2) at the same time from Windows Explorer. If I select 2 raw files and click "Open" Camera RAW will only open 1 raw, then when I click "Done" it will close and open the second, sequentially. Previous Photoshop CC and RAW worked fine, it would open mulitple RAW at the same time. How do I fix this?
If it worked for you that way previously there isn't much to comment about. I just tried opening multiple images from Windows Explorer with Photoshop CS6 and Camera Raw 8.6, and the first image would open and when I clicked cancel then the second image would open. But if I wanted multiple images opened in Camera Raw to work on them simultaneously it was necessary for me to open them from Bridge. I just did it as an experiment because I normally use Lightroom. Anyway, IF it was a feature at one time to work as you described, it doesn't seem to be that way now.

I'm using FF for Mac 3.6.13 and every time I open a new window or tab the image of what I see is tiny which then requires me to click Command + to enlarge it about 4 or 5 times. The actual page is normal size, but its the image (what I see) of the page that is tiny.
Thanks but Command 0 on a Mac only makes a temporary change to that one page. The link you provided doesn't show how to make a permanent change. Do you know how to permanently change this so I don't have to do it to every new page?

Hey, I have two macbook pros (250 gb). They are both running out of space. My first thought was to share an iphoto library off of Dropbox or our Time Capsule. But, I heard that if one file gets corrupted (interenet cuts out, for example) then the whole library gets corrupted. Well, we're full again and now I am wondering if I could move our Itunes folders to our Time Capsule, sync/sort them both so there won't be any duplicates and then use this as a shared itunes library. So first, is this possible? Both computers share the same itunes account.
Second, if I do, and I purchase a song, show, whatever, does it automatically be added to the itunes library on our Time Capsule and then it is available for both computers to access? Or do I need to "import" it on both?
Third, does the "file corruption" issue listed above pertain to itunes?
I saw a discussion about this but it was form 2008. I am sure things have changed a bit since then.

Having multiple CAs share the same private key
We are developing a system which implements an HA cluster across two separate geographical locations.
Each site will have several Windows Server 2012 machines and at least one DC, and we basically have to do a master-master replication between the two sites.
The entire system will be under a single domain.
We will be deploying AD CS since some of our sub-systems need certificates,
but we want to limit the variety certificate to just one (i.e. we want all CAs to issue identical certificates).
To do that, we have to setup AD CS so that all the DCs (both intra-site and inter-site) share the same private key.
Is it possible to have all DCs in a domain to share a single private key?
This article on TechNet suggests that we can do it within a cluster,

Its not much clear what you mean by "DCs to have single private key".
However as per the article it indicates that you can use the same (SAN) certificate on both servers (nodes) of the cluster, the certificate SN will be the common clustername.
This is common when you are using clustering or load-balanced system which requires you to have a common name, but individual nodes.
Basically if you want to use single private key for the HA nodes, use the same certificate across all the nodes, that would be generated on the first node(generally). You don't need to issue identical certificates(this will not work as per my understanding)
CA First Node: Export the Cert
On the Welcome page of the CA Backup Wizard, click Next. Select
Private key and CA certificate, and provide a directory name where you want to temporarily store the CA certificate and optionally the key. Click
Next.
Provide a password to protect the CA key, click Next, and then click
Finish.
CA Second Node: Import the Cert
Open the Certificates snap-in for the computer account.
In the console tree, double-click Certificates (Local Computer), and click
Personal.
On the Action menu, click All Tasks, and then click
Import to open the Certificate Import Wizard. Click Next.
Enter the file name of the CA certificate that was previously created on the first node, and click
Next. If you click Browse to find the certificate, change the file type to
Personal Information Exchange (*.pfx,*.p12).
Type the password that you have previously used to protect the private key. The password is required even if there is no private key in the .pfx file. Do not mark this key as exportable. Click
Next.
Place the certificate in the Personal certificate store, and click
Next. To complete the certificate import process, click
Finish, and then click OK.
Secondly I don't get what do you mean by: "we basically have to do a master-master replication between the two sites."
Please note a Cluster can only run a single instance of Certificate Services. A failover cluster of any size can be used to provide a high availability environment for certificate services. However, Microsoft does not support more than one instance
of certificate services on a cluster.

Is it possible to share the same adressbook (group) with different iCloud accounts? I would like to share a group in my adressbook with my wife!
The calender has this beatiful option to share specific calenders!For iPhoto 09 (version 8.0.2) and later:
What you mean by 'share'.
If you want the other user to be able to see the pics, but not add to, change or alter your library, then enable Sharing in your iPhoto (Preferences -> Sharing), leave iPhoto running and use Fast User Switching to open the other account. In that account, enable 'Look For Shared Libraries'. Your Library will appear in the other source pane.
Any user can drag a pic from the Shared Library to their own in the iPhoto Window.
Remember iPhoto must be running in both accounts for this to work.
If you want the other user to have the same access to the library as you: to be able to add, edit, organise, keyword etc.
Quit iPhoto in both accounts. Move the Library to the Users / Shared Folder
(You can also use an external HD set to ignore permissions, a Disk Image or even partition your Hard Disk.)
In each account in turn: Double click on the Library to open it. (You may be asked to repair the Library Permissions.) From that point on, this will be the default library location. Both accounts will have full access to the library, in fact, both accounts will 'own' it.
However, there is a catch with this system and it is a significant one. iPhoto is not a multi-user app., it does not have the code to negotiate two users simultaneously writing to the database, and trying will cause db corruption. So only one user at a time, and back up, back up back up.

I think Apple should be a bit more cautionary about iCloud and privacy. My family shares the same iCloud account as we all enjoy the music we collectively purchase on iTunes; we paid Apple for this feature with some kind of grouped account. We didn't know, however that this joins our devices so that iMessages, contacts, pictures and just about everything else is shared too. The unprivate default seems to be to share everything between all devices vs. to allow access by exception or by choice (or by password?). Sure, when my kids get all my texts I can go figure out why and fix it but that is in my mind the antithesis of privacy and could be quite embarrassing for any family. I guess it is good for stalking the kids or parents though if they don't know about the partyline approach to privacy. Maybe a tech solution would be to have the iPhone show somehow the extent of its audience to its user.
No argument from me about the vagaries of using and sharing Apple IDs. This can lead to unintended consequences, especially in a family situation.
If you're sharing the same ID for FaceTime, you might want to go to Settings>FaceTime, tap the ID, sign out, then sign in with separate IDs there too. Otherwise, you'll end up getting each other's FaceTime calls.
Also, if you need to migrate everyone's devices to separate iCloud accounts to keep your synced data separated, you can do this by saving any photo stream photos you wish to keep to your camera roll (unless already there) by opening your my photo stream album, tapping Select, tapping the photos, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow), then tapping Save to Camera Roll. If you are syncing notes with iCloud, you'll need to open each of your notes and email them to yourself so you can later copy and paste the text into new notes created in your new account. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account (which only deletes it from this device, not from iCloud), choose Keep on My iDevice and provide the password to turn off Find My iPhone. Then sign back in with a different Apple ID to create your new account and choose Merge to upload your data. Once everyone's devices are on separate accounts, you can go to icloud.com and delete each other's data from your accounts. -
Can multiple threads share the same cursor in berkeley db java edition?
We use berkeley db to store our path computation results. We now have two threads which need to retrieve records from database. Specifically, the first thread accesses the database from the very beginning and read a certain number of records. Then, the second thread needs to access the database and read the rest records starting from the position where the cursor stops in the first thread. But, now, I cannot let these two threads share the same cursor. So, I have to open the database separately in two threads and use individual cursor for each thread. This means I have to in the second thread let the cursor skip the first certain number of records and then read the rest records. However, in this way, it is a waste of time letting the second thread skip a certain of records. It will be ideal for us that the second thread can start reading the record just from the place where the first thread stops. Actually, I have tried using transactional cursor and wanted to let the two threads share the same transactional cursor. But it seems that this didn't work.
Can anyone give any suggestion? Thank you so much!
