Opening new tab with java/javascript/javafx?

Are there any methods that allow to open a new Tab? No tab in a TabPane, in your Browser.

Try HostServices.showDocument(uri) for a JavaFX solution, use google to find a javascript solution.

when i click on a new tab it want it to go to my home page not "new tab". Under tabs in options there is no option to set a new tab to open my home page.

Open new tabs with home page

When i open Firefox it opens my homepage alright. But when i open new tabs they open blank. I would like new tabs to open on a certain url, say Google, how can i do this?

Can't open new tabs with double left click on tab bar in FF29.0.1?

I've always enjoyed how tabs work in FF, mainly with them being on the bottom (which I had to find a work-around for by making the userChrome.css file - the "about:config" modification no longer works) and also being able to double left click on the tab bar to create new tabs.
With the most recent update, double left clicking on the tab bar no longer has a function, and to create new tabs, I must now middle click. It's not a big deal really, but is there a way to change this back?
I searched through some options on the "about:config" page, searched "tab" and found an option there: "browser.tabs.opentabfor.middleclick" that seemed promising. I changed the value to "False" but it didn't change anything - in fact, middle clicking still creates new tabs.
I tried adding a modified function with "leftclick" in it, just to see if it might do anything but, nothing.
Any other suggestions for restoring the double left click function to create new tabs? Thanks!

You need an add-on. Here are two I know about:

I want to open new tabs with other ones open. So I click the + button for tabs and it does nothing. I right click and click new tab and still nothing. How do I get that feature to work again.

Uninstall the Ask toolbar and it should work again. There is a compatibility issue with the Ask toolbar and Firefox that prevents new tabs from being opened.

FF7 will not open new tab with new window. overwrites same tab. If I manually open a new tab, then the new window appears there. In previous versions, the new window would automatically open a new tab. This tab 'overwriting' ia very annoying.

You may have some other adware besides Downlite (aka VSearch). In addition, you may have a newer variant of Downlite, which is using a variety of new names after having the last two variants blocked by the anti-malware feature built into Mac OS X.
Your profile indicates you are running Mac OS X 10.6.7, in which case you will not be able to use dominic23's suggestion (AdwareMedic requires 10.7 or later). Apple's support document on removing adware may help, but you'll find a more complete list of adware in my Adware Removal Guide.
You may also have a variant of Downlite that is not described in any of these documents and that is not yet recognized by AdwareMedic. I believe that there is a new variant that uses a variety of different names based on unknown criteria, either defined by different installers or determined at install time by some characteristic of the machine that it is installed on. Look in the following folders:
/Library/LaunchAgents
/Library/LaunchDaemons
If you find a file named "com.xxx.agent.plist" (where the "xxx" part can be anything) in the first folder and files named "com.xxx.daemon.plist" and "com.xxx.helper.plist" in the second, please report back here for further advice.

By default in Firefox a new tab opens a blank page. You have something installed which changed that action, and that "something" sounds like it may not be working correctly.

Wont open new tab with link is clicked

Since upgrading to from FF-6 to FF-7, when I click on a text link it doesn't open up in new tab, it just goes to the link within the same window. I've confirmed that I have the tab setting in FF7 set to open a new tab instead of a window, and Google settings set to open links in new tabs, but since the upgrade it all stopped working. No other software has been added or changed, just the new FF7 installed. Any thoughts, or is this a bug?

hello gaj0pawar, you can either install the [https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/searchreset/ searchreset addon] to get rid of the problem or manually reset the page that opens on each new tab.
enter '''about:config''' into the firefox location bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up), search for the preference named '''browser.newtab.url''' and double-click & change its value to about:blank (the default would be about:newtab which shows thumbnails & links to your most visited pages).

You can do that by using an add-on such as:

Another way of opening the home page in a new tab is to middle click on the home button in the navigation toolbar.

Terminal window resizes when opening new tab with cmd-'t'

The simplest way to re-create this issue is as follows:
-open new Terminal window (def 80x24)
-resize the Terminal window by dragging the lower right corner (125x32)
-cmd-'t'
-resize the Terminal window (80x24)
-cmd-'t'
After the final command the Terminal window resizes itself back to 125x32.
This only appears to increase the size of the Terminal window; this does not occur when shrinking it. I'd really like to be able to disable this resizing "feature".

White screens shows (left) when I open new tab with black background?

It`s seems like i would printscreen some page which is not dark and pastes it to a new Safari window (black/dark background) with low opacity (like 5%). I looks like to only the Safari problem.

Can't open a new tab with the + for tabs. Can open with Mid mouse button. Nightly.

When I click The + to open a new tab in Nightly, it does nothing. I can open new tabs with mid ouse button, or right click>open in new tab. Just cant open a new tab via the + button. Started 3 updates ago in nightly (3 days ago pretty much).

Are you using a 32 bit Nightly build or a 64 bit Nightly build?
The 64 bit Nightly build for Windows is only generated to test for compilation errors and doesn't undergo all the tests that other builds get, so the risk that something goes wrong can be quite high. 
So if you do use the 64 bit version then try the 32 bit version to see if you still have this problem.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.
