Opening New View take forever!

I just installed the latest Oracle Explorer for VS2005. I am trying to create views when I click the "New Relational View" it takes the application about 5 minutes to respond with the creation screen. If I try to edit an existing view the IDE crashes. I am accessing a remote DB hosted by Oracle, we have twin T1 lines for the connection. I have tried changing from a URL to an IP address in the TNS name file, however nothing seems to help. Why is it so slow? Is there something else besides SQL*Plus I can use to create these View, it is unusable!

Hi,
Generally for troubleshooting issues like this you'd want to enable sqlnet tracing with timestamp on to try to narrow down what exact operation is running so slowly.
In addition, you'd probably want to post problems with Oracle Developer Tools in the appropriate forum for increased chance of assistance.

Hope it helps,

  • Question 1: new website takes forever to load.

    I just published my first website. The first page is all words and yet it takes forever to load. Why is this?
    The site is: http://shortpoem.org/
    Any suggestions on how to speed things up? Thank you.
    (The credit page mentions Sandvov, however I removed those pages.)

    It could be that the audio track is the biggest part of the file size. CD audio (AIFF format) is about 10MB's per minute and, if that's what you used, reducing the quality and adding compression could dramatically reduce the file size.
    iTunes can open AIFF and convert it to AAC or MP3 formats. Use half the frequency (22050) and a bit rate of 96 to get it down in size.

    Hi raja,
    1.I have a main page like req_asset_create.htm. In this page one button called maintain. If i click the maintain button the popup window is opening using window.showModelDialog.
    2. In this popup i have a Editable tableview and one button called confirm. User can edit the values. After editing he is clicking the confirm button.
    3.when he click the confirm button two things should happen a)Popup should vanish and it should go to main page ie req_asset_create.htm.The editrd values should store in to the internal table (t_maintain).it is in model class.
    What heppenings for me using this code
    =============================
    <%----

        <htmlb:button id            = "con"
            onClientClick = "self.close();"
            text          = "confirm"
            onClick       = "confirm"/>
    When i click the confirm button ->popup is closing ->thats 100% fine and again one new view is coming with popupdisplay values.This should not happen.
    a)The server event is not happening.It should happen.
    b) The edited values are not stored in the internal table..
    Do_handle_data : for storing the edited tableview values

    What should i do to happen for the server event to update the edited records.
    How can i achieve? ow to control the new opening view?

    Grow some skin. Imagine this exchange...
    Patient: I am a white male in my mid twenties and I don't often feel well.
    Doctor: Oh - that's because... oh wait... I have no idea, because you provided absolutely no information.
    Patient: I did provide information but you weren't listening. I don't often feel well. What part of that is so hard to get? If you don't want to bother to listen then don't respond with sarcastic comments.
    Do you imagine there is one set of circumstances or a single setting that leads to performance issues in every case? Project size, duration, kind of project, content, amount of memory, render settings, disk space, media codec, etc. These are just a few of the details that we have no idea about in your case.

  • New iTunes takes forever to open. What do i do?

    So i installed the new version of iTunes. Ever since I installed it, whenever I click on the iTunes icon to open the program, it takes over a minute to open up. My computer doesn't have any viruses or Spyware/Adware. I have a Turion, 64 bit processor, and plenty of space on my harddrive and plenty of memory. What should i do?

    Do the usual 1st Aid: Run Disk Utility and fix permissions and check/fix your drive.
    If that does not solve your problem download and install the current iTunes as standalone application.

  • HD4770 display driver opening image files takes forever

    Hi... 4770 / w7 / clean cs5 64 bit user here. my situation :  1 click and photoshop cs5 boots and opens any of my ( large) files  instantly,  with  absolutely NO delay at all.   (8gb  ram) and it does this consistenly.  like BAM! open. AS LONG AS THERE IS no display  driver / ccc installed....
    ( just the generic driver from windows) the minute i install the corresponding display driver for my  videocard, the same operation (opening files, even small ones) takes  considerably longer.  (slow)
    Tried to use the lastest   ATI display drivers alone, problem persisted, ccc same  issue.  12.01 update? same storry.  I dont care for OpenGL acceleration so i  turned that off, no change... so  what should i do?  do you guys think is ok to use  just the generic windows driver  like that? ( says 8mb, real card has 512DDR5...)  I dont do much gaming,  but what about  power / heat?  ( no 2d clocks?) btw, no overheating,  nor stange  virus/ misconfiguration issues. thanks!

    1) did you install the Catalyst 10.7 driver set, current from ATI/AM
    no, but tried 10.6 and  10.5.  will try again
    2) did you make sure to do a custom install and avoid installing all the extra crap (like the video game) they try to set up?
    yes custom install, just the driver
    3) It's possible that there's something physically wrong with the parts of the card the video driver needs to function.  Do other programs seem to work with the ATI/AMD Catalyst installed?
    no problems whatsoever
    4) Did you actually shut down Photoshop and try starting it again after making that change?
    yes
    Make sure and reboot the computer after installing the drivers (even though they don't strictly require it).
    rebooting was necessary

  • Opening First Image Takes forever

    Hey guys.
    Just as the title says, every time i start photoshop CS2 (latest update) (windows xp) the first image always takes a long time to load (e.g. 30 seconds) no matter the image or how long i give photoshop to load first.
    Any images after that load basicly instantly.
    Any ideas?

    switch your default system printer to something local. anything. just not a network printer.

    Hi
    I've just downloaded and installed Sun Java Studio Creator. When I try to add a new JSP page by clicking new->page the "New Page Wizard" never closes after clicking "finish". So I cannot create a new page.
    I have 1 Gigabyte of RAM. Is this not enough.
    Any advice?
    Regards.

    Hi George,
    I got similar error messages after upgrading from Portal Early Adopter version to production version on Solaris (see http://technet.oracle.com:89/ubb/Forum70/HTML/000201.html). Unfortunately I got no replies/solutions to my message, although it appears to be a serious problem.

  • The new ios6 takes forever to download now.

    I have to turn on wi-fi which then drains my battery.  If I want to surf on safari or google or see photos on instagram or play any games I have to turn on wi-fi.  This blows!!  *** apple?!

    If you are noticing that there is no actual progress for say 30 minutes, go ahead and click on the pause button to pause the download, and then click resume to restart where you left off.
    It took me over 7 hours on DSL.

    I am having this issue also on my Windows 7 64 bit machine. When I try to open Workbench it takes forever, slips into a non-responsive state, and then when it finally does open I can't actually see anything in the design palette. On my old XP machine ADEP Workbench opened just fine. And on the same Windows 7 machine ES2 Workbench opens just fine.
    Any ideas?

  • Quicktime X is incredibly slow and previews take forever to load

    Quicktime takes forever to load an MKV (Perian installed), but also takes its sweet time with other longer vidoes. Finder Previews (off to the side in column view) take forever to load, with QTserver (I think that's the process) taking up huge cpu resources while doing so.
    I want to love Quicktime, I really do. It looks great. But its performance is just utterly frustrating at times. I don't know what happened but I never had these problems with Quicktime 7.
    Why the does Quicktime behave like this?

    http://arstechnica.com/apple/reviews/2009/08/mac-os-x-10-6.ars/6#qtkit
    You don't have to use the X version of QuickTime on your Snow Leopard machine. You can use QuickTime Player 7.6.3 if you like.

    I have 15000 photos in my 1Phooto library in 58 events. I have also made 27 slide shows from some of these events. When opening iPhoto, the photoscome up slmost instantly but the side bar seems to take forever to come up.  Is there s limit to the amount of photos yu can have or to the amount if items in the side bar?

    Try this basic troubleshooting technique:  make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
    1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
    2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
    Click to view full size
    3 - reboot
    4 - launch iPhoto and try again.
    NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
