OpenSUSE 12.3 and iFolder

Anybody managed to get the most recent iFolder running on openSUSE 12.3 yet? I keep getting mono errors from what I gathered its because its complied for a different version of mono...
Anybody got any info on this? Or have a I just missed a dependency? The log below is what i get when it launches.
Code:

It talks about a sharp lib at top which I made sure I have but still cant get it working. Some assistance on this would be great if anybody managed it.
I did find this and try it only to get another error about CLI image.

Thats the article that says its a mono problem because it was compiled for old version.
Thanks

In order to get it to *mostly* work, I had to first install the packages for iF 2.8.4 (which takes mono 2.6.7) and the *-sharp2-*-13.* versions from oS 12.2 mentioned below, and then do the one-click install for the 3.9.1.svn client (which takes mono 3.0.4 and simias 1.9.1.svn) on software.opensuse.org (which doesnt try to upgrade the *sharp2* packages.)
(Just downgrading to the old versions after you installed the 3.9.1 client didnt seem to work for some reason.)
The reason is there appears to be an issue with the *-15* version of the gnome-sharp2 libraries that come with oS 12.3:
art-sharp2-2.24.2-15.4.1.i586
gnome-sharp2-2.24.2-15.4.1.i586
gconf-sharp2-2.24.2-15.4.1.i586
gnome-vfs-sharp2-2.24.2-15.4.1.i586
If you try to use these versions, the client wont start, and if you run it from the command line to see whats going on, youll end up with this error:
Missing method System.Type::op_Equality(Type,Type) in assembly /usr/lib/mono/2.0/mscorlib.dll, referenced in assembly /usr/lib/mono/gac/gnome-sharp/2.24.0.0__35e10195dab3c99f/gnome-sharp.dll
However, if you install the *-13* versions from oS 12.2:
art-sharp2-2.24.2-13.1.2.i586
gnome-sharp2-2.24.2-13.1.2.i586
gconf-sharp2-2.24.2-13.1.2.i586
gnome-vfs-sharp2-2.24.2-13.1.2.i586
then things work (including the 3.9.1 client and mono 3.0.4.)
However, as soon as you install the old versions, oS notifies you of an update (opensuse-2013-339,) which installs the new versions again, which breaks the client, which sends you spiraling down in a loop of frustration and annoyance.
At least thats what Ive been dealing with yesterday and today :/
Unfortunately, it looks like you cant just stick with the 2.8.4 client on 12.3, because you are greeted with any number of different errors depending on which version of Simias you try (I tried 1.8.5. 10252, 10349, and 10363)
Ah thats not so good. But thanks for the detailed reply.
Thanks

  • LDAP failing for iPrint and iFolder after new CA created

Last week we replaced our Certificate Authority as it was due to expire yesterday (Monday). It was currently running on a fully patches Netware 6.5 server and we took the decision to move it to a SLES 11 SP 2 OES 11 server and re-create all the certificates - following Option 2 for TID 3618399.
We re-ran PKIDIAG on the Novell server and tckeygen, and restarted and everything seemed fine - Groupwise (8) webaccess and the PO using ldap auth were working. But this morning we've discovered that ldap is failing to do secure binds for iprint secure printers and iFolder. We see this error message in the log screen:
    >11:45:44 11:45:44 ldap *MASTER[xxxx.our-domain.com] connection restored
    >11:45:44 11:45:44 iFolder_ldap01[xxxx.our-domain.com][-1] ldap_simple_bind : Can't contact LDAP server(81)

and in the apache error log we see:
    [Tue Aug 27 11:30:08 2013] [error] [client 10.0.0.43] no acceptable variant: SYS:/apache2/error/HTTP_UNAUTHORIZED.html.var
[Tue Aug 27 11:30:08 2013] [warn] [client 10.0.0.43] [10] auth_ldapdn authenticate: user bob authentication failed; URI /ipps/Ricoh [LDAP: ldap_simple_bind_s() failed][Can't contact LDAP server]
Nothing else was charged other than creating a new CA (on a new server), removing the old one from eDirectory and generating the new certificates. If we use a web browser to the server to check the certificate we see that the CA cannot be validated as it is internal and not a publicly trusted one, but IIRC the old CA did the same.
PKIDiag and SDIDiag report no issues. The only thing I can imagine that could be causing the issue is the fact the CA is no longer on the same server hosting iFolder and iPrint. Both server host eDirectory and are part of the same replica ring, they can communicate and also time is synchronised.
    Any ideas?
    Mark.

I'm now pretty sure that the cert is being invalidated because the new CA is not trusted by the old server. Strange that PKIDiag has no problems with it. So really looking for a way to authorise a CA for ldap secure I think.
I can connect to the server over ldaps (port 636) using Softerra Ldap browser from my PC, again I get the certificate not valid as we have the internal CA authorising it, but you can accept the certificate and authenticate fine and use LDAP.
    BR,
    Mark.

Yes, that is an OpenSuSE link. And the material for OpenSuSE 10.2 and 10.3 definitely does work. Used it myself.
But 'it works' and 'can I use it consistently, safely and without unusual errors' are two completely different things. Go ahead and use it. But please don't cry for help when it breaks.
and what about XFS...is the story behind XFS is same as reiserFS?On metalink, Oracle notes (414673.1) "Using unsupported filesystems ... or using XFS ... can cause redo log corruption ..." The note goes on to suggest that it may be fixed with some versions of XFS. So use XFS at your own risk.

Hold on. What am I saying? If you use OpenSuSE you are already on your own by going to an unsupported platform. Oh well. Carry on. You must know what you are getting into.

  • Ftp issue (and some netstorage and iFolder as well)

Nw 6.5Sp8 updated ftp to the latest patch.
My issue is very simple: It only list the files to a certain point in a directory. So is there a parameter I need to set in order to get it to read all, or is it not just possible to read all the way, or is it related to my ftp-client (fireftp in firefox - not very likely as I never have seen it before but it can be)?
So I tried to use iFolder and/or Netstorage from the web interface. No problem I can see all files, but retrieving don't work. Right click download and nothing happens. I must admit I found a workaround yesterday, but I have forgotten what I did - at the time it was just important to get a grip at the file.

What happens if you use actual ftp, not some GUI browser plugin ftp thing?

  • How can Firefox be selective (access only same pages) while Chromium and Konqueror browse normally under openSUSE 12.3?

It looks like Firefox just access pages registered in my repository. Basically I can go to the openSUSE, Linux, KDE and domains alike. I'm writing here whit Chromium that browses just normally as well as Konqueror. I'm also a regular user of Thunderbird and it's working just fine. So, apart of Firefox, connection is working completely well both ways. True for torrents too.
I'm struggling whit it for a while and can't figure out what's going on. Firefox is really a big deal to me. Right now I'm having a hard time to run CodeSkulptor under Linux without it.
I' wanna the Fox back. Help!
    Fábio.

    @cor-el
I did it already. Both under Network Settings and Firefox. The about:config process. Yeah! Didn't work.
The link you provided seems to dig dipper than that. I'll read it. If I manage to solve it I will droop a feedback here.
Any other approach is welcome too.
    Thank you.

  • DREAMWEAVER AND OPENSUSE 10.2

    hi guys,
i updated my server from opensuse 9.3 to opensuse 10.2 and
now i cannot use the SITE DEFINITION to manage the web server files
through SFTP that i am working on.
When i try to connect to the web server through the
dreamweaver using SFTP i get the message that the connection cannot
be established. The username or password is incorrect.
This is not true becuase the username and password are indeed
correct and i can connect through the server using CORE FTP and
    PUTTY.
Do you guys think it is a problem of dreamweaver not being
    compatible with OPENSUSE 10.2?

IMO the DW FTP has never worked (at least not for me) so I'm
    still using
    WS_FTP 95 ;) Works every time.

I'd try reconfiguring the server - if you are getting an error on the simias10 page - there is something not right with the base configuration.
On a next reconfiguration, try using SSL. Setting up SSL on openSUSE is not that hard to setup (for example see steps 1 & two in the bit 'Configuring Apache for SSL' : Installing iFolder Server on openSUSE 11.1 & 11.2 | DiWi ).
The rest of that blog is dated as I wrote it for 11.1, but there is an updated blog here
iFolder on OpenSuSE 11.3 full install walkthrough daniel lench
that might help in getting a better pictures of what needs to be configured and shake off the rust a bit :)
Also, the author of the iFolder JeOS might be able to give you some pointers?
    Cheers,

  • IFolder Client error: Not enough space on the iFolder server

iFolder client gets the following error:
iFolder synchronization cannot complete because you don't have enough space on the server.
Free space on the server = 464 MB (total space available 3000 MB)
Space needed to complete synchronization = 2536 MB.
Please free up space in your iolder and click OK.
Click Cancel to cancel to sync.
iFolder client log looks like this:
    13.3.2011 23:40:46 Synchronizing with server...
    13.3.2011 23:40:48 Synchronization failed
The volume size is 36 GB and it has free space 20% = 7 GB.
So there is enough space to the iFolder sync.
iFolder host is NetWare 6.5.8 server and iFolder version is 2.1.8
The same iFolder is synced from two (2) PC's, a desktop (XP SP3) and notebook (W7 SP1 32bit). Both have been working for long time.
The problems are seen on notebook using Windows 7. The Windows 7 (32-bit) OS has updated with SP1 on Saturday (May 12th.2011). After the update iFolder worked but on Sunday evening the errors started.
iFolder client (2.1.8) has removed and reinstalled. First the client seemed to work OK, but after the sync of last file, the error reoccured again.
iFolder sync partially works: files and folders created on desktop PC are synced to notebook.
But files created on notebook are not synced to desktop.
Any tips how to repair or troubleshoot?
    Kind Regards, Harri

464 MB is less than 2536 MB so error message is correct.

Is there perhaps a volume or directory quota in place that would affect
    the sync?

Noting your follow-up reply re uninstall of Windows 7 SP1 I'll flag that
the iFolder 2.0 client is not supported on Windows 7 - it would have
been released before Windows 7 and certainly not updated for it (OES
    Linux introduced iFolder 3).

  • [SOLVED] kdeinit4 crashing on startup (and a few other new installat..

I have just switched from openSuSE to ArchLinux, and needless to say, am a bit disappointed as to why I didn't make the switch before. ArchLinux is just pure awesome and everything seems to be working fine after a mile of manual readings and tweaking around configuration files. There are just a few issues I'm facing:
    1. kdeinit4 crashes on startup: I get a KCrash dialog which says that it has crashed. The title says 'The KDE Daemon has crashed'. This is the backtrace I was able to generate from that: http://pastebin.com/L7C9iwPY
    2. KDE does not store any session data: I don't like those pesky launchers on my plasma panel (the one with the taskbar and all), so I removed them. But after the reboot, they reappear. I have to remove them every session. With yakuake, I have to change the height and width of the console at every reboot, as it just switched back to the default values at every session start. Some settings do seem to persist though, for example, I have my plasma panel set at the top screen edge. This stays the same for every reboot. I have a feeling this problem has something to do with the KDE daemon crashing.
    3. Nepomuk keeps on crashing: I keep on getting this notification error on startup: http://imgur.com/PyGpQ
Other than this, everything seems to work with my laptop.
    Information about my laptop
    Model: Dell Studio 1555
KDE version: KDE 4.7.00 (from repository)
    Output of `uname -a`: Linux meanmachine 3.0-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Wed Aug 17 21:55:57 CEST 2011 x86_64 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU P8600 @ 2.40GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux

Also, for now to solve the problem, I am making kdeinit not play any notification sounds. Since phonon-vlc is crashing KDE applications (from a look around the web, it is not only kdeinit that is crashing due to the phonon-vlc bug), this must be when it tries to play some media, which obviously is the startup notifications.
Go to System Settings > Application and System Notifications > Player Settings and select 'No Audio Output'. Works for me.
Or one can just switch to phonon-gstreamer, but in that case banshee and rhythmbox crash for no reason while trying to play media.
Now KDE is storing session data [was a huge problem since I could not use custom power management profiles.. pretty difficult with a laptop], but Nepomuk is still crashing. Not really buying the whole semantic desktop thing.. so just going to live with it till an update resolves it

  • Problem connecting only iFolder client

    Hi everyone,
I begn with iFolder 3.8 and I've a problem with connecting the client.
For information, I've 3 separate iFolder servers, two of them work perfectly !
So, on one, I can't connect the Windows Client, I've an error "iFolder can't connect, please check the informations" (translation from french).
If I try to connect on the web access, it's OK, no problem with that.
The Simias.log file says that the connexion is successful with the client but it's not...
I try to reinstall the server several times with simias-server-setup, ifolder-admin-setup and ifolder-web-setup but no effects.
If someone as already experienced this and solved this problem, thank you for your help.

OK, so I've solved my problem after hours.
I tried to reinstall completly the server and then, it works !
To conclude, if your iFolder server doesn't work at the first time, don't try to debug, format and reinstall.

  • Need help with installing Oracle11gR2 on OpenSUSE 11.2

    Hi,
I could use some advice on installing Oracle11gR2 on OpenSUSE 11.2. I have a slightly older 32 bit PC which I was able to successfully install OpenSUSE 11.2 and DB2 9.7. (Yes, I work with more than one database vendor :-) ) When I tried to install Oracle, the installation program tells me I'm missing some libraries which I can not seem to find anywhere using any of the YAST tools:
    libaio-0.3.105 (have 3.104 installed)
    libaio-devel-0.3.105 (have 3.104 installed)
    elfutils-libelf-0.97 (have 0.142 installed)
    elfutils-libelf-devel-0.97 (have 0.142 installed)
    glibc-common-2.3.4 (can't find this)
    glibc-headers-2.3.4 (can't find this)
    libgcc-3.4.6 (have 4.4.1 installed)
    libstdc++-3.4.6 (have 3.3 and 4.4 installed)
    compat-libstdc++-33-3.2.3 (can't find this)
Anyone have any ideas where I went wrong?
    Thanks.

    I read the UEFI wiki.
I think I understood where my problem is...
In order to create the "EFI System Partition" my whole data in the hard disk(which has windows in it) will be lost. I can't afford that because I only have rescue disks with me. I don't have an OS installation media since the OS installed on my thinkpad is OEM. If Lenovo were providing me the installation media for the OS, then I would simply go ahead and create GPT partitioned disks. Then first install Windows in it and then Arch. But now I am in a dilemma.....
I need suggestions on this please.....
You require an unmodified Windows 7 ISO. This is not hard to obtain, and using such a ISO is legal as long as you use a valid product key to activate Windows. Now there are 3 cases:
    1. Convert BIOS-MBR install of Windows 7 to UEFI-GPT, without data-loss. It is a slightly lengthy process https://gitorious.org/tianocore_uefi_du … OS_to_UEFI (actually simple once you understand it, I know because I wrote it). But you need to have a unmodified Windows 7 ISO setup to boot in a UEFI bootable USB to do it. You can reuse the existing SYSTEM_DRV partition after formatting it as FAT32 with gdisk type code EF00. Make sure to backup the current contents of that partition though.
    2. If you don't mind re-installing Windows, backup Windows activation data using http://directedge.us/content/abr-activa … nd-restore, format and partition your disk as GPT, re-install Windows and then Arch.
    3. Install Arch in current BIOS-MBR setup, without touching the existing windows install.
EDIT: The limiting factor in your case is Windows, but I do not think it is a good idea to discuss Windows specific info (especially if you want to try case 1) here (in Arch forum) as that has nothing to with Linux or Arch.
