I have to make an excerise for school,

i'm realy stuck on the part where i have to count the chars
can somebody help me out please
so here is my code so far
public class Letters {
    private String invoer;
    private HashMap <Character,Integer> chars;
    public Letters() {
        chars = new HashMap<Character,Integer>();
    public void read() {
         Scanner scanner = new Scanner(System.in);
         scanner.useDelimiter("\n");
         System.out.print("Geef een zin:");
         invoer = scanner.next();
    public void count() {
        for(int i=0;i<chars.size();i++){
            switch (invoer.charAt(i))
                case 'a' : Letters.put('a',character(a)); break;
    public void showCharacters() {
}Edited by: muckv on Feb 28, 2008 8:21 AM

is there way to avoid 26 counters?Yes. Each letter you get check the map for an existing entry. If there is one, then add one to it and overwrite. If not simply store "1" against the letter. And use a TreeMap, that way your results automatically come out in alphabetical order.

  • Regular Expression Character Sets with Pattern and Matcher

    Hi,
    I am a little bit confused about a regular expressions I am writing, it works in other languages but not in Java.
    The regular expressions is to match LaTeX commands from a file, and is as follows:
    \\begin{command}([.|\n\r\s]*)\\end{command}
    This does not work in Java but does in PHP, C, etc...
    The part that is strange is the . character. If placed as .* it works but if placed as [.]* it doesnt. Does this mean that . cannot be placed in a character range in Java?
    Any help very much appreciated.
    Kind Regards
    Paul Bain

    In PHP it seems that the "." still works as a all character operator inside character classes.
    The regular expression posted did not work, but it does if I do:
    \\begin{command}((.|[\n\r\s])*)?\\end{command}
    Basically what I'm trying to match is a block of LaTeX, so the \\begin{command} and \\end{command} in LaTeX, not regex, although the \\ is a single one in LaTeX. I basically want to match any block which starts with one of those and ends in the end command. so really the regular expression that counts is the bit in the middle, ((.|[\n\r\s])*)?
    Am I right it saying that the "?" will prevent the engine matching the first and last \\bein and \\end in the following example:
    \\begin{command}
    some stuff
    \\end{command}
    \\begin{command}
    some stuff
    \\end{command}

    Hi all,
    For the succeeding LIVE CAPTURE LOADING:
    I resolved my issue by using the ODBC System DSN  "Sqlserver native client" driver.
    It failed if I use the ODBC System DSN "Sqlserver" driver
    On the other hand the INITIAL LOAD, is good with the reverse.
    It is ok with the DSN "Sqlserver" driver only and not the native client driver.
    Thanks a lot,

    I suspect that the fields having subtype 3 just before the garbled columns is a clue, but not sure what to replace with or adjust.
    Any and all help mighty appreciated.

    Worthwhile suggestion, just having difficulty applying.
    I will tinker with it more. But still open to more suggestions.

  • ABAP/4 Keywords for all SAP R/3 Versions

    Hello Experts,
          Is there any DB Table available in Data Dictionary where all these ABAP/4 Keywords available; if yes do please let me know if not available then do please provide me with all ABAP/4 Keywords of all versions of SAP R/3 if possible
    points will be awarded if helpful.
    Thanks in Advance

    Hello Arif,
    There no particular table to check all the key words in ABAP.
    To check system fields Go for
    Se11-- SYST.
    TO get the key words go to ABAPDOCU- type ur required key word in the search given in the last section.
    The best option would be to debug ABAPDOCU, when you do a click on Keywords
    Or Check the Pooled table : TSE05
    As you must be knowing ABAPDOCU is in SABAPDOCU Package.....!!
    There are a number of tables used; like ABTREE,etc !
    Explore and find whether you can get some clue!

  • Using Symbol Font in Pages/Keynote etc.

    Here is a strange problem: Whenever I want to insert a greek character from Symbol font Pages (09 as well as 08, and Keynote ...) replaces it by some standard font (probably Helvetica). In effect, Symbol is not available. If I want to write a simple formula containig a greek character (as e.g a small beta) I have to use Mathtype or copy and paste from word. Good old Appleworks also works fine with Symbol font.
    Can anybody help?? What am I doing wrong???

    Using the character pallette or activating the greek keyboard will of course do. It seems an awkwardly labourious way to me, though. If I understand you correctly there is no other way. Why would symbol font (which is not greek but symbol!) not work in the same way as e.g. Wingdings (Zapf Dingbats behaves just as symbol, though)? I Don't care for Unicode, but this, I think, is unfortunate.
    It is the other way around - the way monotonic Greek and mathematics are drawn in Adobe PostScript is a disaster -:). It helps to read Inside Macintosh: Text, published in 1993, and the PostScript Language Reference Manual, first and second version.
    How was monotonic Greek and mathematics drawn on the Apple LaserWriter in 1985? Well, it was drawn by depicting the glyphs for monotonic Greek and mathematics in the built-in Adobe Symbol font program dictionary onto Apple Roman.
    Adobe PostScript provides two procedures to get from characters to glyphs, StandardEncoding and FontSpecific encoding. The latter encoding vector is used when the Adobe PostScript configurable name space that replaces a character set is used to overrule the operating system character set.
    If you were typing monotonic Greek because you wanted to type Greek, and not because you wanted to type mathematics, you were in the ditch with this hack since the hack broke spelling, sorting and searching which are processes that are predicted on character codes.
    Apple Royal, now Apple Advanced Typography, was a project that took two directions to address the problem of drawing to the display and the printer.
    First, the CMAP Character Map was intended to include the characters for the writing systems of world scripts.
    Second, the layout logic to map from characters to glyphs was intended to provide evaluatable appearances for stylistic alternates such as small capitals, superscripts, subscripts and ligatures.
    Adobe PostScript is a one-to-one mapping model that by definition is incapable of protecting the source character string when drawing fine typography.
    You may rest assured that the issue of interactive input methods is on the agenda for computer manufacturers. For instance, Microsoft failed in a bid to acquire Swiss keyboard maker Logitech in 2008.

    Hi,
    Not sure if you have created a definition file. Try if your source and target has a mismatch. Also, find below some additional parameters which will help in sorting out the issue:
    DISCARDFILE :
    Valid for Extract and Replicat
    Use the DISCARDFILE parameter to generate a discard file to which GoldenGate can log records that it cannot process. Records can be discarded for several reasons. For example,
    a record is discarded if the underlying table structure changed since the record was written to the trail. You can use the discard file to help you identify the cause of processing errors. Each entry in the discard file contains the discarded record buffer and an error code indicating the reason. GoldenGate creates the specified discard file in the dirrpt subdirectory of the GoldenGate installation directory. You can view it with a text editor or by using the following command in GGSCI.
    VIEW REPORT
    Where: is the fully qualified name of the discard file.
    To prevent having to perform manual maintenance of discard files, use either the PURGE or APPEND option. Otherwise, you must specify a different discard file name before starting
    each process run, because GoldenGate will not write to an existing discard file. To set an upper limit for the size of the file, use either the MAXBYTES or MEGABYTES option. If
    the specified size is exceeded, the process will abend. Default By default, GoldenGate does not generate a discard file.
    DISCARDROLLOVER:
    Valid for Extract and Replicat
    Use the DISCARDROLLOVER parameter to set a schedule for aging discard files. For long or continuous runs, setting an aging schedule prevents the discard file from filling up and
    causing the process to abend, and it provides a predictable set of archives that can be included in your archiving routine.
    When the DISCARDROLLOVER age point is reached, a new discard file is created, and old files are renamed in the format of ., where:
    ? is the name of the Extract or Replicat group
    ? is a number that gets incremented by one each time a new file is created, for
    example: myext0.dsc, myext1.dsc, myext2.dsc, and so forth.
    You can specify a time of day, a day of the week, or both. Specifying just a time of day (AT option) without a day of the week (ON option) generates a discard file at the specified time every day.
    Default Disabled. No rules specified.
    REPERROR:
    Use REPERROR to specify an error and a response that together control how Replicat responds to the error when executing the MAP statement. You can use REPERROR at the MAP level to override and supplement global error handling rules set with the REPERROR parameter. Multiple REPERROR statements can be applied to the same MAP statement to
    enable automatic, comprehensive management of errors and interruption-free replication processing.
    DEFAULT Sets a global response to all errors except those for which explicit REPERROR statements are specified.
    GETDELETES | IGNOREDELETES:
    Valid for Extract and Replicat
    Use the GETDELETES and IGNOREDELETES parameters to control whether or not GoldenGate processes delete operations. These parameters are table-specific. One parameter remains in effect for all subsequent TABLE or MAP statements, until the other parameter is encountered.
    GETUPDATES | IGNOREUPDATES:
    Valid for Extract and Replicat
    Use the GETUPDATES and IGNOREUPDATES parameters to control whether or not GoldenGate processes update operations. The parameters are table-specific. One parameter remains in effect for all subsequent TABLE or MAP statements, until the other parameter is encountered.
    GETINSERTS | IGNOREINSERTS:
    Valid for Extract and Replicat
    Use the GETINSERTS and IGNOREINSERTS parameters to control whether or not insert operations are processed by GoldenGate. The parameters are table-specific. One parameter remains in effect for all subsequent TABLE or MAP statements, until the other parameter is encountered.
    Update the parameter file on target as
    edit params <TARGET PARAM FILE>
    REPLICAT rcreator
    SOURCEDEFS /u01/app/oracle/product/goldengate/dirdat/defecreator
    DISCARDFILE /u01/app/oracle/product/goldengate/dirdat/creator_err, purge
    DISCARDROLLOVER ON saturday
    USERID goldengate, PASSWORD AACAAAAAAAAAAAKAPATACEHBIGQGCFZCCDIGAEMCQFFBZHVC, ENCRYPTKEY default

    DEED_ID_AT_DEATH=DEED_ID_AT_TIME_OF_DEATH), &
    KEYCOLS (PERSON_ID, INITIALNAME,ENDNAME);
    Now stop and start the replicat on target as:

  • Goldengate Trailfiles

    Hi,
    My replicat process abended after delete command was issued on the source, reason being there isn't any unique, primarykeys as well as KEYCOLS value.
    So now i want make goldengate read from another trailfile instead of existing trailfile,
    ie gg is currently reading from rt000020 trailfile, so i want instruct gg to read from rt000021 trailfile.
    Can anyone let me the solution for this.
    Thanks,
    Bharat Damarla

  • Condition Profile Definition issue

    Dear Experts,
    I am setting up Event Driven GATP.
    In SPRO, while setting up Qty. Assignment to ODL (QODL), I go to "Define Process Category for Quantity Assignment to Order Due List". And there I defined a "Condition Profile", then under this I should get option to define 'Fields' for setting up the condition like for material, Plant etc. But I am not getting 'Fields' folder.
    Please let me know why I am not getting 'Fields' folder:
    Is it because of some authorization issue with my user?
    Or have I missed some setting?
    I am in 7.0 version.
    Regards
    Rinju

    Hi Rinju,
    If the FIELDS folder won't display in the Dialog Structure for Condition Profiles in the IMG Activity Define Process Category for Quantity Assignment to Order Due Lists (QODL), here's a workaround:
    In SE11 go to display the table view /SAPAPO/V_EDQAPP. Then in the menu (topmost menu of the screen) go to Utilities>Contents. A popup window will display entitled "<SYSTEM NO> dETERMINE WORK AREA:ENTRY". Select the condition profile you created in the IMG Activity Define Process Category for Quantity Assignment to Order Due Lists (QODL). After you ENTER, you will be at the FIELDS folder screen where you can enter the Field Name, Operator, Lower Charact. Value, Upper Charact. Value etc, by clicking 'Display/Change', New entries, etc. Enter as you would had the folder been in the IMG activty.
    Hope this helps
    Ramon

  • OGG-00868 SQL Server 2008 has problem with ODBC in  the EXTRACT process

    Hello Everyone
    I want to replicate tables between MS SQLServer 2008 and Oracle 10g
    I have Windows XP / MS SQLServer 2008 and Oracle Database 10g R 10.2.0.1.0 running  on Red Hat Linux
    I followed the steps from the white paper (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/articles/datawarehouse/oracle-sqlserver-goldengate-460262.html)
    and Installed Oracle Golden Gate Version 11.2.1.0.1 (for Linux) and the  Version 11.2.1.0.1 32bits (for Windows XP)
    I followed all steps of the white paper without problem and I could do the initial load in
    the Oracle Database from SQL Server sucessfully.
    But when I tried to set and start the Extract process from SQL SERVER
    a error was generated in the file c:\gg\dirrpt\MSEXT.rpt and the process is ABENDING

    Hello mb_ogg,
    Yes, I had created a Data Source  HR Driver= SQL Server (second Tab System DSN) and I also had tried with
    the driver SQL Server Native Client 10.0 but I faced the same error.
    The database by default is EMP
    Below is my configuration
    Microsoft SQL Server ODBC Driver Version 03.85.1117
    Data Source Name: HR
    Data Source Description:
    Server: JUAN-XP
    Database: EMP
    Language: (Default)
    Translate Character Data: Yes
    Log Long Running Queries: No
    Log Driver Statistics: No
    Use Integrated Security: Yes
    Use Regional Settings: No
    Prepared Statements Option: Drop temporary procedures on disconnect
    Use Failover Server: No
    Use ANSI Quoted Identifiers: Yes
    Use ANSI Null, Paddings and Warnings: Yes
    Data Encryption: No
    I also clicked on the button "Test Data Source" with the below messages:
    Microsoft SQL Server ODBC Driver Version 03.85.1117
    Running connectivity tests...
    Attempting connection
    Connection established
    Verifying option settings
    Disconnecting from server
    TESTS COMPLETED SUCCESSFULLY!
    Then I went to Database Properties (Right Click) /Oprtion  and Recovery model field has Full value
    I also made a Backup (Backup Type = Full)
    The Backups was made to Disk:  C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Backup\EMP.bak
    Today I repeated the same steps and I got the same error (I Copied at the end):
    I also have the follow question:
    Is necessary define the location of the backup of MS SQL Server to say to GG where it can get it?
