Options for BI without SharePoint Enterprise

Hi,
I'm trying to gather some information in the limitations on using SQL Server 2012 Enterprise BI without SharePoint Enterprise.  Specifically, BI distribution is of a concern.
If I had the capabilities of SQL Enterprise but only had SharePoint Foundation, would I still be able to distribute BI PowerPivot reports and would users still be able to use the features of PowerPivot?  What would be the options of distribution with
the said infrastructure?
Also, what would I be missing out on.  I know there's a lot of information scattered on the net about this, so for brevity, I'd only ask for a summary of options and disadvantages.
Any input would be most appreciated.

SharePoint is not the only way to do enterprise level BI using Power Pivot. I wish Microsoft would bring some clarity to this. You have other options including...
SSAS (SQL Server Analysis Services): My favorite by far. Real easy to setup (contrast with SharePoint, which is a bear). Heck even I could step through the install myself.

You get some of the same benefits of a
"Hub and Spoke" or "Core and Thin" model - Your Data Model (Power Pivot) is centralized on the central server, and you do not need to be emailing large Excel files around. You can have a host of "Thin" reports connected to
this central model ("Spoke"s) - these can be Excel based, SSRS or another tool of your choice connected to your central cube hosted on SSAS. Thus BI distribution should be real easy. You can also setup autorefresh of your data model very easily.
Power BI (mmm if you are not considering SharePoint, I doubt this is an option for you)
Other options - e.g. Insight Center developed in conjunction
with Microsoft
What would you be missing out on
Power View on SharePoint. If you are using Excel 2013, users would still have Power View inside of Excel - but I prefer the Power View on SharePoint
Mmm..all the SharePoint functionality of course (file sharing, permissions, excel services...)

    Any ideas for finding options for black and white printing on an iMac 10.7?  I don't want to waste the color cartridge.

    I've been working on Macs since OS6. Just moved all the way from Tiger to Lion. Seamless aparrt from printing Black and White. I have a few thousand CAD files which I print regularly. They're drawn in various colours on a black screen but obviously when I print them I want them in Black & White. Not Greyscale.
    Previously I've hacked around this using a custom Quartz filter which I can no longer select from the Print dialog. Save in Preview, apply a filter, reopen and print? A few hundred times? Not very helpful.
    I tried setting up an Automator print workflow but it baulks at the printer by sending a Letter format file not the A3 or A4 that's in the original Print Setup dialog.
    Oh - the printer is a Xerox Workcentre 7425.

    You can create your own responsibility with required menu/functions to expose to users, they will have only PO inquiry menu.

    When I purchased Photoshop years ago, I was able to physically receive the program to download onto my computer. There was the one time purchase fee and no requirement to have a cloud.   • DUET Enterprise vs BO BI Integration Option for Microsoft Sharepoint

    I am struggling to find the right management overview to position DUET Enterprise vs BO BI Integration for Microsoft Sharepoint.
    My high level definition of DUET Enterprise is to expose SAP Data and Processes into the Microsoft Sharepoint Environment (especially for non professional user = casual user).
    Obviously these casual users need to see, to retrieve or to refresh some BW reports (knowing we are using or will use BO BI 4.0).
    It seems DUET Enterprise does not support this scenario .... and we need to use another solution called : BO BI Integration Option for Sharepoint (detailed doc [here|http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boexir4/en/400sp2_ioms_getstarted_en.pdf]). 
    I am confused (I can not picture it) why we need 2 different products (medium - long term).
    Could you somebody explain :
    1. to confirm we need currently these 2 products
    2. why we will need 2 different products in the future ?

    I was also trying to find some information this topic for the last few days when I came across your thread. There has been a similar discussion earlier in [this SDN thread|Duet Enterprise vs BO Integration Option for Microsoft Sharepoint u2013 IOMS;.
    After seeing the capabilities of IOMS, I can say these two products are very different. IOMS has different web parts to render BO/BW dashboards, reports ect. whereas Duet Enterprise is an integration platform for connecting various SAP systems (of type ABAP now), using which we can view/operate on any SAP object, integrate workflow and fetch SAP reports as document.
    Duet Enterprise provides SSO and role based access to SAP data which seems to be missing in IOMS.
    At this point it seems both these products have different capabilities with similarities in report publishing (Duet Enterprise can only publish reports from BI and other ABAP based system directly to SharePoint document library; not sure what IOMS does in this area).
    I guess at this point if your requiremtn is to only provide a SharePoint based frontend to Bo/BI IOMS has to be used, however if you need to build applications with SAP data or around SAP processes Duet Enterprise has to be used.

    In one of our applications, we are using TimesTen 5.1.24 and Oracle 9i
    databases (platform - Solaris 9i).
    TimesTen holds application information which needs to be accessed quickly
    and Oracle 9i is a master application database.
    Now we are looking at an option of migrating from Oracle 9i to Oracle 10g
    database. While exploring about Oracle 10g features, came to know about
    "In-Memory Database Cache" option for Oracle Enterprise Edition. This made
    me to think about using Oracle 10g Enterprise Edition with "In-Memory
    Database Cache" option for our application.
    Following are the advantages that I could visualize by adopting the
    above-mentioned approach:
    1. Data reconciliation between Oracle and TimesTen is not required (i.e.
    data can be maintained only in Oracle tables and for caching "In-Memory
    Database Cache" can be used)
    2. Data maintenance is easy and gives one view access to data
    I have following queries regarding the above-mentioned solution:
    1. What is the difference between "TimesTen In-Memory Database" and
    "In-Memory Database Cache" in terms of features and licensing model?
    2. Is "In-Memory Database Cache" option integrated with Oracle 10g

    "For the purposes of licensing Oracle In-Memory Database Cache, only the

    We have servers with the following configuration. Is there a way to get the
    count of processors on which the Cache software could be installed and/or
    running? Please assist.

    Pre-production box with 8 core 2 duo processors (16 cores)

  • Why do I not get the checkout option for a pdf type document when clicking on the document link in the SharePoint workflow task?

    We are trying to use workflows to review and edit pdf files in sharepoint 2010. We are having a couple of issues and am hoping someone has the answer.....
    1)  When myself and coworkers click on the pdf document in the library, we get the check out option as expected.  However when we click on the document
    link in a workflow task (on the sharepoint site), the pdf opens as a temporary file and we do not get the check out option.  Why does this happen????? 
    2)  The same thing happens when we click on the document link in the workflow task email;   HOWEVER,  one of our co-workers does get the
    check out option when clicking on the link in the email task.  Why would she get the checkout option using the email and not when clicking on the link in the task list on the sharepoint site ????  We have compared our internet settings and adobe
    settings to ours and found no differences.
    We are using Sharepoint 2010, Windows 7, IE8, Adobe Reader X or XI.  Some of us have Adobe Pro X and have the same issues.

    According to your post, my understanding is that you could not get the checkout option for a pdf type document when clicking on the document link in the SharePoint workflow task.
    I try to reproduce the issue, however, no matter when I click the pdf type document in the library or click on the pdf document link in the workflow task email, it download the pdf doucment and then I can open it.
    It will be better if you can descript how you
    get the check out option as expected when you click on the pdf document in the library.
    Then I upload a
    word type document to the library, no matter when I click the word type document in the library or click on the word document link in the workflow task email, I can open the word document directly and get the check out option as expected.
    I recommend to use the other type docuemts to check whether the check out option works.

  • Sharepoint publishing - different options for Webhelp and HTML5

    Hi all,
    publishing HTML5 output to Sharepoint 2010 workes fine for me, I can select the path and enter a log-in. However, the publishing options for Webhelp apparently do not allow for user authentification. I can only enter a path and Robohelp always says that is is invalid.
    Can someone provide a hint how I would proceed? Is it possible that Webhelp only supports Sharepoint 2007?

    I don't have access to either version of Sharepoint so this is a shot in the dark. Can you use the FTP option to publish to Sharepoint? That does have user authentication.

    Installing Oracle is not easy for the beginner. Please consider asking Oracle Sales to assist you, as they have technical consultants who can do that for free.
    All Oracle software that can be downloaded if available from http://otn.oracle.com ... look for the Downloads link at the top.
    Partitioning Option is included in the Enterprise Edition software, but using Partitioning Option requires purchasing a separate license for the option. It can NOT be licensed for use with the Standard Edition.

    Hi, Caner.
    When you are installing Integration Kit you have 3 options: Desktop, Server, Custom.
    Of course your choice depends on your requirements.
    1. Desktop. If you plan to work with BW-source locally in Crystal or in WebI Rich Client this option for you. You donnt need to install BOE, it is working with client tools.
    2. Server. This variant is suitable for work with BOE. If you plan to share your reports that based on BW-sources via BOE you MUST to install this on your BOE.
    3. Custom. For "power"-users. If you choose this point by default it works like Desktop options, but it doesnt ask you to install Crystal reports. Usually I work with this kind installation.
