Options for delta deletion in SRM-MDM

Hi! I understand that MDM cannot do delta deletion unless we have full refresh. However, we usually get delta files that has a column/field that tell us whether the item is an Add, Change or Delete. We were able to use that information to delete the appropriate item in the old catalog management system (Requisite). However, with SRM-MDM we cannot do that.
One option I thought of was to create a custom field in the repository and then capture this information so that the administrator can delete it manually. However, I wonder whether there is a way to automate it? If we leave the items in the system without deleting it, then they can be potentially used by the users. Another option is to set a timeframe and create a named search to limit the catalog items by timeframe but I am wondering whether there is an easier way to automatically delete the item with the status 'Delete'?  Has anyone tried to do the same before? What options do I have in this case? Appreciate any advice on the above.

Hi SF,
I can relate to your pain. There is no automatic deletion function delivered by SAP in MDM. However, you can build a custom Java API or ABAP API program to achieve auto-deletion (if your customer is willing to invest in some development in this area).
Some other tips:
a. You don't have to create a custom field to indicate that a record is to be deleted. Simply add a new Item Status (standard lookup table), e.g. "Delete", and then populate records in your import files with this Item Status as needed.
b. For your end users not to see these "Delete" records in the WebDynpro Search UI, build a named search that excludes the Item Status "Delete" value.

  • DNL_CUST_PROD1 is in Running status for Delta Mat Grp - SRM 7.0

    Hi Experts ,
    We are configuring SRM7.0 with ECC6 ( Ehp4) having Classic Scenario
    We already done initial upload of all Mat Type , Mat Grps, Material  & Service Master data successfully. Now one Mat Grp is added in ECC, and I am tring to replicate this delta objectsin  A3AS , but the DNL_CUST_PROD1 is in Running status  from long time ( in R3AM1) where Source Site is ECC &  Destination is SRM.
    In ECC , these is no  any queue stuck  either in SMQ1 or SMQ2.
    In SMWP in SRM, it is showing message with Red color Blocked queues: Client 212 Blocked outbound queue: Client 212 Q name DNL_CUST_PROD1 status SYSFAIL dest EDACLNT112 in  section R3AI/R* Start Queues for Loads from OLTP .
    In SRM, thes is nothing  stuck in Inbound Queue in SMQ2, but I am afraid , Queue R3AI_DNL_CUST_PROD1 is stucked in Outbound Queue SMQ1 , showing destination ECC sytem , with status  SYSFAIL !!!  I tried to UNLOCK & Activate this queue , but no use.
    1. I am wondered  We are imporing Mat Grp from ECC to SRM, so in SRM ssytem, the Queue for Mat Grp ( a nd other objects should be Inbound ( i.e. SMQ2), then how/why the queue  stuck in the Outbound Queue ( SMQ1) ?
    2.Can anyone please suggest  what should be the problem a nd solution on same .

    Thanks Nikhil. I varified all steps as per Note 720819 and all seems okay. Even Material Master is replicaing in SRM successfully.
    Issue is we even unable to see the error log also. In SMQ2 stuck Queue for DNL_CUST_PROD1 from SYSFAIL ststus we can not guess the issue.Do we other hints to look ?
    I am not cleared on the processing of Queues, i.e. how this imported objects looking into SMQ2 O/B Queue , it will be very appricated if you can explain in detail how these Queing works in SRM for importing Mat Types, Mat Grp & Material master data?

  • SRM MDM Catalog Multiple Imgae (field) display in UI

    Hi MDMers,
    I have configured the SRM-MDM Catalog and I had done Import data, mapping data, OCI, SRM call structure and UI settings. Everything works fine when we call the Catalog in SRM.
    My SRM -MDM Catalog needs certain custom fields which should hold some Button indicator for item classification (Red, Amber, and Green)
    Already we used MDMSRM_IMAGE field to have pictures of Item and mapped in Display view in UI manager.
    I tried one more custom field for the Image to hold this buttons (.gif file) but unfortunately it is not bringing the indictor images, just place holder is exist without indicator image.
    Could you please help me and give some work around solution to bring that Button Indicator in My Catalog view for each item.
    Please light up something on TEXT HTML, TEXT BLOCK, HYPERLINK and mime type
    Is it possible to have the .gif Image by using above functionality? If so please guide mates.

    I have tried to set up hyperlink for my images in SRM-MDM catalog.But no luck.
    1. My MIME Type is GIF.

    The URL path contains my Images file like GREEN.GIF and RED.GIF
    Where I have to display the 2 images according to the catalog Item.
    As per forum discussion I tried the steps.
    I declared the MIME Type & Hyperlink type (rendered) in Look up table.
    I have mapped the fields in Catalog item table for MIME Type<hyper link> & URL<hyper Link> and Hyper Link.
    The data is just replicating in DATA manager, but not displaying in UI as image.
    Please can you help me to sort it out?
    Just explain me how to enable the Hyperlink field to line item.
    The steps to import thre Mime type/hyperlinku2026look up table and Qualified table.

    and when we enter the server name, and click on "Connect", it says connection to server failed.

    Have you deployed the following files in listed order:
    1. SCA file with API and Connector (File Name: MDMJAVAAPIXX_X.sca)
    2. SCA file for search and configuration UI (File Name: SRMMDMCATXX_X.sca)
    which could you know about exact version by using SAP NOTE 1083126 for version mapping of SRM-MDM CATALOG 2.0.
    Aftyer deploying the files, Restart your WEBAS
    You need to put Server name of your MDM (HostName or IP Address) and Password = your MDM Server if you have set any otherwise leave it blank. once you able to Connect to your MDM Server you need to select your corresponding Repository and Put the User = Master and Pwd leave it as blank. then you could move to screen of configuration.

  • Best Practice transport procedure for SRM-MDM Catalogue repositories change

    Hi,
    I have a question regarding SRM-MDM Catalogue repository change transports.
    We currently have two QA servers and to Production servers (main and fail-over).
    We are investigating the need of a Development server.
    Changes are being made to the repositories on the system, and I see the need of a dev server.
    What is best practice for SRM-MDM Catalogue?
    With only QA and Prod environments I guess Repository schema transport is the best option, since there has not been created a Refference file (which is needed for change file transport).
    Any other options?
    We are running MDM as well, with dev, QA and prod environments. Here we use CTS+ for transports.
    Is it best practice to use CTS+ also for SRM-MDM Catalogue transports?

    What is best practice for SRM-MDM Catalogue?
    SAP recommends to have the landscape model like DEV-QA-PROD.
    So in case of catalog as well if we follow the same technique it will help you to have a successful implementation

    As a part of proceeding with the CTS+ you need to create a reference file

    It is upto the requirement. if you feel there are many changes in catalog xml schema in various phases in an automatic manner then you can go ahead with CTS+ or you can perform the existing method of exporting and importing the schema to the repository.

  • Deletion of request from init option for source system

    Hello Experts,
    Iam using 3 IP.
    IP for init load with data transder, IP for init load without data transfer & Delta.
    now with data transfer IP is not used.
    i trigered "without data transfer IP", then accidentally "triggered with data transfer IP".
    then manually made the request red & deleted data by right clicking datasource-->manage & deleted all the requests(2) available.
    now before i load init without data transfer request exists in "init option for source system".
    when trying to delete IP
    "There are active init selections in source system for this data source. Therefore, only ALL init selections can be deleted at once. Do you want to delete all init selections (all channels)?"
    when i choose yes....it takes a long time & gives run_time error status.
    Guys, this issue is solved.
    I deleted the without data transder first.
    now when I load delta, I got error.
    "Job terminated in source system --> Request set to red"

    Hi KV.........
    U r doing init without data transfer..............it means it will not pick any records...........it will just set the init pointer and along with that Delta queue will get generated.........after that whenever any changes will be done.........or any new records will come.......it will get reflected in the Delta queue.......
    So next time when u run the delta load..........data will be fetched from the Delta queue...........
    So check the delta queue.......it may happen that there r no new or changed records..................
    So check............may be delta queue is 0..............
    Also check the update mode for the datasource in LBWE(if Logistic datasource)............if the update mode is Queued delta or unserialized V3 update........then data will first get accumulated in the Extract queue(LBWQ) or update table respectively.............so to fetch records in the Delta queue u hav to schedule the V3 jobs in LBWE............otherwise Delta queue will be empty and fetched records will be 0........

  • Initialization Flags deleted from Initialization options for Source System

    Hi BW Experts,
    We have loaded PCA data in Infocube last week with Fiscal Year/Period Selection Parameters like
    001.2004 to 016.2004
    001.2005 to 016.2005
    001.2006 to 016.2006
    001.2007 to 016.2050
    So we got 4 Initialization flags in Initialization options for Source System in SCHEDULER.
    After this we are running Deltas daily
    Accidentally All Initialization Flags deleted from SCHEDULER yesterday that we did not know yesterday.
    Deltas did not run today.
    Please can anyone tell me the solution for this.
    I have to run the Delta today. How can i get the yesterday records in my Data Target,

    Hi Anjali,
    Please delete the Init Request from your data target performed for Selection 001.2007 to 2050.
    Also delete <b>only those deltas request</b> from your Data target <b>which were performed after the above mentioned Init.</b>
    And then Re-Init with Selections on Fiscper - 001.2007 to 2050.

    As far as I know, nope. And it's logical, considering the Initialization is a "one time" process and not a repetitive one (unless you have to reinitialize, of course...)

    I want to implement a SAP SRM-MDM scenario with SRM-MDM 3.0. The SRM-MDM 3.0 has the poissiblity to create shopping carts for every 'MDM User'. But that's not enough for our users.
    Is it possible to create different shopping lists for each user?
    I already use the setting: sl_user with the attribute SY-UNAME but it doesn't work

    @Padhi: It is not a prictically solution to create every SAP SRM User (3.000) in the SAP SRM-MDM Catalog. In comparison to other catalog systems (e.g. heiler) this have to be a standard feature
    @Kanth: That's correct, you can activate the shopping list option for the MDM User. But the MDM User only defines the rights and masks. For the MDM it is not necessary to login with your SAP / SAP SRM Username.
    Note [1153525|https://websmp130.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1kZSZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=1153525] describe the long-needed function in SRM-MDM. But it seems, that this feature only work in SRM-MDM 2.0.
    Maybe anybody know anything else about this problem... I'm thankful about every hint!

  • XI Integration scenario for material replication from SRM to SRM-MDM

    Hi Guys,
    We are working with the following landscape:
    SRM Server 5.5
    ECC 6.0
    SRM-MDM 5.5 SP6
    PI 2005_1_700 SP0006
    I have a question for you about replication of the material master form SRM EBP to SRM-MDM.
    In XI we are trying to configure this scenario. For this we have imported the following XI Content:
    - SAP SRM Server 5.5
    - SAP SRM-MDM 2.0
    We have the following problem; that when tring to configure the this scenario we are getting GUID errors. Probable because some XI content is missing. In the SRM-MDM 2.0 XI content we also see that SRM 6.0 scenario's are avilable in the currenlty imported XI content, but when clicking on 'Edit action' in these scenario's we are getting the following error:
    "Software component version with GUID XXXXXXXXXX... does not exists"
    Can any one tell me why SRM 6.0 scenario's are availble in the XI content for SRM-MDM 2.0, and which additional XI content we need to import to get rid of these GUID error's?
    Becasue of this the configuration in the Integration Directory fails.Transfering the integration scenario to the Integration directory  gives a couple of errors: "Unable to load action. Check whether all necessary actions have been released in the integration repository".
    Hopefully some of you know what to do, because I am currenlty stuck....... Do we need to import additional XI content, or maybe the Xi content for SRM 6.0. If so where can I get the XI content for SRM 6.0. It is not available on the SAP Support portal as a download.

    To delete files folders or individual assests in the current incarnation of adobe creative cloud brouser/web portal rev:130626
    1 - Check mark the box on left and select files or folders you would like Deleted/Trashed and move them to the ARCHIVE folder location inside your adobe creative cloud brouser/web portal....Then navigate to the ARCHIVE SECTION
    2 - Once the files or folders you have check marked are moved to the ARCHIVE folder location you can select them for Permanant Deletion (Trash)
    ps: you can also restore them......if you so choose....
    3 - in case you missed this step after selecting/checking the files or folders in the ARCHIVE folder there is a small Triangle Selector drop down that will reviel the Permanently Delete option.... clicking that is the point of no return i think..... so do not be misled my the use of the term ARCHIVE.... DELETING PERMANANTLY IS DELETING YO!
    4 - OK DONE NOW YOU GOT IT .....

  • Schedule changes and validity dates for prices in product catalog(SRM-MDM)

    Hello!
    I'm working on a project that is going to use SRM-MDM and the question is if it is possible to schedule changes(for example to add new prices that have a validity period, can you make the changes now that are going to be valid from 1st of februari?Or can I add products today that are only going to be available to buy from a particular date?).
    The other question is if it is possible to have a validity period for prices and when the date is valid,then the product is shown in the catalog.In the same way that when the date is not valid, the product is not shown in the catalog.Can this be made automactically?Can a logic be build to choose which products are going to be shown in the catalog?
    Do you have any suggestions for those issues?

    Hi Shiv,
       The MDM Server password is needed when you are changing Webdynpro UI Configuration.
      For catalogs, all you need is the repository userid/password parameters in the call structutre.
