  • ORA-00313: open failed for members of log group 1 of thread 1

    Hi
    I'm restoring a database on a different host. I have the backups, from which I want to restore the database. I made the corresponding changes in the initSID.ora file and started the script to do the restore.These are the steps I followed:
    connect target=/
    run{
    startup nomount;
    allocate channel c1 type disk;
    allocate channel c2 type disk;
    allocate channel c3 type disk;
    allocate channel c4 type disk;
    restore controlfile from '/tmp_backups/rman/lev0_open_cf_SID_2826_1';
    alter database mount;
    set newname for all datafiles
    restore database;
    set until logseq = 29317 thread = 1;
    switch datafile all;
    recover database;
    alter database open resetlogs;
    One mistake I made here is that logseq should have been last seq+1, which I did not do. I have it as last seq.
    Restore of datafiles and switching of datafiles was fine. But I get error for redo log files.
    ORA-00313: open failed for members of log group 1 of thread 1
    ORA-00312: online log 1 thread 1: '/u13/oradata/SID/redo02a.log'
    ORA-27037: unable to obtain file status
    SVR4 Error: 2: No such file or directory
    Additional information: 3
    Why is it looking for at the old path yet?
    I'm not sure what I missed and how to proceed. Please help.
    Thanks,
    Mamata

    I do believe that set newname for all datafiles only means actual datafiles and no redo logs. So with open resetlogs, Oracle tries to create new redo logfiles where the backup controlfiles says they are.
    As with creating a auxilliary database in another filesystem, we use DB_NAME_FILE_CONVERT and LOG_FILE_NAME_CONVERT.
    I am not sure if it is possible to type "set newname for all datafiles" and expect also the redo logfiles to change location.
    You might try to set these two parameters and see if it works.
    good luck.

    I now realized what happened and how this happened. During a clean-up effort this file was accidentally deleted and unfortunately we don’t have any backups.

    All I am able to do now is to mount the database but not open it.

  • ORA-00313: open failed for members during restore from COLD backup

    Hi all,
    I took a cold backup of an 11.1 database using RMAN (database in mount state).
    I used the following command to restore it:
    restored the controlfile and then
    RESTORE DATABASE FROM TAG 'TAGxxxxxxxxxx';
    Now I'm restoring it and it's taking too much time. When checking alert log it says:
    ORA-51106: check failed to complete due to an error. See error below
    ORA-48318: ADR Relation [HM_FINDING] of version=3 cannot be supported

    RMAN is still in progress, why does it complain about redo?
    I'm not doing recovery since it was a cold backup.
    Thanks in advance.

  • ORA-00313 problem, thank you very much!!

    Hi, there,
    when I use OEM standalone to login the database, I found there is an error:
    ORA-00313:open failed for members of log group1 of thred 1
    ORA-00312:online log 1 thread 1 "c:\oracle-database-server\oradata\redo01.log"
    then I can't open the database and only can mount it.
    and then I found all the other databases on my local machine have the exact same problem. at the same time, I found the service of OracleOracle9iDB_serveManagementServer can't startup. whenever I want to start it, it warn me "start and stop, becuase there is no work connect to it". so I doublt it seems there is something wrong with my operation system, but not the database's problem. my os is WIN XP PRO.
    does there anyone who knows the reason and how can I solve it? besides, can I backup the database in mount status and how?
    thank you very much for any hint!
    I do need you help, thank you so much!!

    Does c:\oracle-database-server\oradata\redo01.log exist? Once I met a guy, who, as he said, deleted unnecessary log files :-)

    Dear Ganesh,
    What the error shows that the redologfiles r multiplexed and for some reason the oracle cant read the redo log files in Group 1.
    ALTER DATABASE ADD LOGFILE GROUP 6
    ('....ORACLE\QAS\ORILOGA\LOG_G11M6.ORA','...ORACLE\QAS\ORILOGA\LOG_G11M7.ORA') SIZE 1M;

    IF THE DATABASE ALTERED MSG COMES SHUTDOWN AND RESTART.
    WE ADDED A LOGFILE GROUP COZ ATLEAST 2 LOGFILE GROUPS ARE REQUIRED THEN WE DROPPED THE GROUP1.

  • ORA-00313: open failed for members of log group 2 of thread 1

    We have a 4 node 32bit linux RAC (Dell/EMC) system running 9.2.0.4. It is very stable but over the past couple of months we've encountered a few ORA-00313 errors, while the system is running.
    No patterns. Different loads, times of day, nodes.
    The redo can't be opened, the node crashes, we look for errors, can't find any and then restart. The file is there and the permissions are fine. No other processes are accessing the files. No other Db errors. No O/S, SAN, Fiber, errors.
    All the research I've done shows that this is an error you'd only get on startup.
    We're going to log a TAR, but I can't believe we're the only ones to ever see this occur.
    [directory and server names have been modified to protect the system. Don't get hung up on typos or possible file system config problems too much - this system has been and is running now]

    The only thing I can still think of is file permissions.
    If the system has recently been restored or Redo Log recreated, check the file permissions and ensure that Oracle has Read and Write Access to the Directory and Files.
    At least the file permissions on the directory and files should look something like this example
    $ls -l /sampledb/redo0/oradata/sampdb/
    drwxr-xr-x oracle oinstall 4096 19 May 17:46 redo
    $ls -l /sampledb/redo0/oradata/sampdb/redo/

  • Report suddenly showing ORA-20001: Error fetching column value: ORA-06502:

    Hi,
    Some reports in my applications are suddenly showing:
    ORA-20001: Error fetching column value: ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small
    instead iof the data they used to show.
    In my development system I can fix this by:
    1. changing the column alias in my sql
    select 'a' alias1 from dual becomes
    select 'a' alias2 from dual
    2. SAVE CHANGES
    3. change column alias back to original
    select 'a' alias2 from dual becomes
    select 'a' alias1 from dual
    4. reorder columns back to original in the 'report attributes' tab
    alias1 is now at the bottom of my colum list - i just bounce it up to column 4 using the up arrows
    5. SAVE CHANGES
    then everything starts working OK again.
    There seems to be nothing wrong with my sql as I can make it works on a new page or after I run the above steps, so I guess something is breaking somewhere but I cannot work out what.
    Has anyone else seen this? Does anyone know the cause? Does anyone have a fix for this that does not involve the above steps (plus redeployment to prodcution and all the work that involves)?
    I am seeing this on version 2.3 and 3.0.
    Thanks,
    Martin

  • Migration from 9i to 11g Transparent Gateway results in a) ORA-12704: character set mismatch b) ORA-02070: database ... does not support SYS_OP_C2C in this context

    Migration from 9i to 11g Transparent Gateway results in a) ORA-12704: character set mismatch b) ORA-02070: database ... does not support SYS_OP_C2C in this context
    What Transparent Gateway (TG) 11g configuration steps prevent the following errors?:
    a) ORA-12704: character set mismatch
    b) ORA-02070: database <DB_link_name> does not support SYS_OP_C2C in this context
    Hints:
    The current 9i TG works with the existing views and packages.  These same db objects will not compile using the new 11g TG.
    The db objects are on an Oracle 10g database linked to an SQL Server 2008 R2 database.
    Since the 9i TG works I assume a configuration to the 11g TG will get it working same as before.  But what...
    Is is something controlled by these parameters?  (Sorry, I don't know how this stuff works.  I'm the application developer.  My DBAs setup the Transparent Gateways.):
      Parameters in the Gateway Startup Shell script:
        ORA_NLS33
        NLS_LANG
      Parameters in the initsid.ora file:
        HS_LANGUAGE
        HS_NLS_DATE_FORMAT
        HS_NLS_DATE_LANGUAGE
    I'm avoiding the known workaround to refactor the VIEWS and PACKAGES to contain CAST() statements to explicitly match the data types.  A server side fix to the 11g TG is preferred.
    Sample code:
    a) ORA-12704: character set mismatch
       ... is caused by SQL that works with my 9i TG but not with my 11g TG.  It's a snippit from my view that won't compile:
                      select status_code                  -- Oracle VARCHAR2(30)
                      from   ora_app_interfaces
                     UNION
                      select "StatusCode" as status_code  -- SQL Server NVARCHAR(30)
                      from   SqlAppInterfaces
       Example workaround that I'm avoiding:
                      select status_code
                      from   ora_app_interfaces
                     UNION
                      select CAST("StatusCode" as VARCHAR(30)) as status_code
                      from   SqlAppInterfaces
    b) ORA-02070: database <DB_link_name> does not support SYS_OP_C2C in this context
       A line of code in the procedure that compiles correctly but fails to execute:
               -- Insert into SQL Server from Oracle
               insert into PatientMedRecNum (
                  "PatID",         -- SQL Server INT
                  "MedRecNum",     -- SQL Server NVARCHAR(11)
                  "Hospital")      -- SQL Server NVARCHAR(30)
               values (
                  pi_pat_id,       -- Oracle NUMBER
                  pi_med_rec_num,  -- Oracle VARCHAR2
                  pi_hospital);    -- Oracle VARCHAR2
    I'd guess the errors are caused by the TG's implicit conversion between the Oracle VARCHAR2 and the SQL Server NVARCHAR... but this works fine on the 9i TG... how do I set it up to work on the 11g TG?
    Thanks!

    Trace of 11g TG... generating errors due to lack of automatic mapping from SQL NVARCHAR to Oracle NVARCHAR, where the previous 9g TG mapped from SQL NVARCHAR to Oracle VARCHAR2.

    Hi,
    The issue is different this time after restarting application and database find below.
    An exception occured trying to map a column
    Exception java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException:Array index out of range:1
    occured trying to map column:Category
    in bne.log
    8/18/10 12:08 PM AJPRequestHandler-ApplicationServerThread-2 ERROR BneP

    ent Integrator: 140:FA_MASS_ADDITIONSThe same error is reported in Note: 954462.1 (which is referenced above).
    And also let me clear one doubt. v$open_cursors view is used for what?. The total number of count v$open_cursors is 60,000 whereas the parameter is defined only 2000 in the Instance.Cursors Remain Open (in V$OPEN_CURSOR View) after being Closed [ID 1020427.102]
