ORA-02041: client database did not begin a transaction

Hello All,
I am making calls from oracle 8i to oracle 9i.
First i am inserting values from 8i into a table in 9i.
secondly i am calling a procedure to send mail which again is in 9i database.
If i run the query ..the mail is sent...
if i run it for the second time i get this error
ORA-00164: autonomous transaction disallowed within distributed transaction
ORA-02041: client database did not begin a transaction
If i run it again...The mail is sent...
For every odd transaction the mail is sent and for every even transaction i get this error...Please advice me if you have any tips how i can resolve this..
Thanks,
AK

  • ERP database did not shutdown

    Hi
We have Oracle ERP R12.0.6 running on single node configuration. Usually we take full offline backups on friday morning. Even after issuing the command > shutdown immediate, database did not shutdown for 2 hours as some 'Create accounting' concurrent program was running for past 44 hours. Why database did not kill this session? Is our SGA or redolog files size are not proper?
    How to diagnose this issue?

Yes, you are right. Using the other session, i had issue shut abort and it has resolved the issue. We have job_queue_processes = 2 and aq_tm_processes=1.
But my concern is, i cannot add >shut abort command in my script. What is the other alternative or what parameter to be tuned? Please guide me.

  • ORA-01079: ORACLE database was not properly created, operation aborted

    Hello everyone,
On Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0
My problem is that I've to drop the database as the same is not created properly.
For that, I get the below error when I try to mount the database.
ORA-01079: ORACLE database was not properly created, operation aborted
Also, when I was starting the database specifying the pfile, it was throwing error saying
    ORA-00202: control file: 'D:\ORACLE_10G\DATABASE\CTL1SAMPLEDB.ORA'
When I specified control_files clause in init.ora I was getting above error, so I tried removing the same but still faced the same error.
Can anybody help me resolving the problem ... ???
    thanks

thanksyou should be able to do the following on windows from the command line
oradim -delete -sid sampledbthen remove the D:\ORACLE_10G\DATABASE\ folder from the filesystem (assuming there are only files relating to your db in there.
finally remove the D:\ORACLE_10G\ADMIN\SAMPLEDB folder structure assuming it exists.

  • Excpetion "You did not specify the transaction currency burden amount".

    Hi,
When I am running "PRC: Interface Supplier Costs" then its firing another Program i.e., "AUD: Supplier Costs Interface Audit". In the second Program's output I am getting a message "You did not specify the transaction currency burden amount".
I created and approved an Expense PO and then I created an Invoice (matching that PO) and did the Payment for that Invoice and generated accounting. After that I ran "PRC: Interface Supplier Costs" to transfer the amount to my Project. The Program is ending up with the exception that "You did not specify the transaction currency burden amount".
What could be the reason and how to solve it.
    Regards,
    Khan.

    Hi
Check if your project is set up as burdened, and if the expenditure organization & expenditure type of the PO distribution are supposed to be burdened. Verify that burden multiplier is available in te active burden schecule.

  • Oracle instant client & unixODBC did not work on Fedora 4

    Dear experts,
Please try to fix the following problem.
I want to connect to oracle 10g on windows XP from client that runs Fedora 4 using ODBC.
*1.     I installed oracle instant client on Fedora:*

    •     oracle-instantclient11.2-sqlplus-11.2.0.1.0-1.i386.rpm
*2.     Set the following environment variables:*

*3.     Test connection from Fedora to Windows and it works perfect.*
    sqlplus system/pass@//xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:1521/orcl
    *4.     Intsall unixODBC-2.3.0.tar.gz*
*5.     Add Oracle ODBC entry in odbc.ini*

It works now after removing listener.ora & sqlnet.ora and modifying ServerName from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx to //xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:1521/orcl.
    Thanks for your time.

  • Rebuild Database did not reduce the database size

I just completed a rebuild database. The rebuild completed much quicker than anticipated and in the end the did not reduce in size.
This is my first rebuild and since original installation I have deleted a number of masters. From my understanding thumbnails and previews are not deleted when the master is deleted. In order to delete the thumbnails and previews the db must be rebuilt. Is this correct?
The db is over 31.1gb. The rebuild took approx 10 minutes and when completed the db size was still 31.1gb. There was a message during the rebuild that read "Recovering projects". I was expecting to see stats showing previews and thumbnails being generated in the activity window but don't see it. Has the db been rebuilt?
    Thanks for any assistance.

Rebuilding the database is for disaster-recovery, not file maintenance. I certainly wouldn't do it unless something was fundamentally broken and the application didn't run.
"rebuilding" the database seems to do the following:
    (1) remove the database file completely (not even to the trash, it destroys the database utterly)
    (2) run through the plist files and reconstruct a brand-new database from them all
I checked this (on an empty library) using hard-links from the commandline, and step (1) above scared me sufficiently that I'd only rebuild the database as an absolute last resort.
Now, 31GB seems a lot for a database that only took 10 minutes to rebuild - are you sure you're not telling us the size of the library (to find the database size, right-click on the library and select view-package-contents, then open the 'Aperture.aplib' folder and find the size of the 'Library.apdb' file. That's the file you're changing when you 'rebuild database'.)
If you're telling us the size of the entire aperture library instead, then that size will be completely dominated by the master RAW files you've imported. I'd guess your library will be less than 10MB.
My understanding is that previews are deleted (since they're stored as separate files alongside the master image, if you look in the folder hierarchy), but thumbnails aren't. The thumbnails are aggregated together into one-file-per-project (presumably for speed of access), and I'd guess the space is reclaimed for future use, but the file doesn't get any smaller. That's a classic trade-off for speed-of-access, and users like us are normally very keen on things being fast

  • I have a client that did not migrate to iCloud from MobileMe when the time was right.

I got control of her AppleID and got that working again. I then setup iCloud on her MBP (running 10.7.4). In Outlook, I updated her Mac mail settings to the new iCloud IMAP settings. It returned a "updating IMAP cache" and decremented her mailfolder. After it finished, I expected it to reconnect and re-download her old mail. It did not. The mail is missing. The mail folders present as a brand new account with zero history. Her iPhone is not updated yet, so she can still browse a partial record of what was in that account.
Does anyone have words of wisdom on how to recover from this or how best to get the mail to appear on iCloud?
    Thanks.

As she did not migrate before 1 August the account has been deleted together with all the data in it, including emails and anything which was in the iDisk: this data is not recoverable by any means.
You say the iPhone has a cached copy of some of the emails. Don't update the iPhone to connect to the iCloud account or you will wipe them. You need to move them from being under MobileMe to being held on the phone. Unfortunately as I don't have an iPhone I can't advise on the specific process, but doubtless someone will chip in on this: you could also ask in the iPhone forum.
Once you've got them held locally you can connect the phone to iCloud, and then move them back to being on iCloud.

  • Lookup-table and query-database do not use global transaction

    Hi,
    following problem:
DbAdapter inserts data into DB (i.e. an invoice).
Process takes part in global transaction.
After the insert there is a transformation which uses query-database and / or lookup-table.
It seems these XPath / XSLT functions are NOT taking part in the transaction and so we can not access information from the current db transaction.
I know workarounds like using DbAdapter for every query needed, etc. but this will cost a lot of time to change.
Is there any way to share transaction in both DbAdapter insert AND lookup-table and query-database?
    Thanks, Best Regards,
    Martin

One dba contacted me and made this statement:
Import & export utilities are not independent from characterset. All
user data in text related datatypes is exported using the character set
of the source database. If the character sets of the source and target
databases do not match a single conversion is performed. So far, that does not appear to be correct.
    nls_characterset = AL32UTF8
    nls_nchar_characterset = UTF8
    Running on Windows.
EXP produces a backup in WE8MSWIN1252.
I found that if I change the setting of the NLS_LANG registry setting for my oracle home, the exp utility exports to that character set.
    I changed the nls_lang
    from AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8MSWIN1252
    to AMERICAN_AMERICA.UTF8
Unfortunately , the export isn't working right, although it did change character sets.
I get a warning on a possible character set conversion issue from AL32UTF8 to UTF8.
Plus, I get an EXP_00056 Oracle error 932 encountered
ORA-00932: inconsistent datatypes: expected BLOB, CLOB, get CHAR.
    EXP-00000: export terminated unsuccessfully.
The schema I'm exporting with has exactly one procedure in it. Nothing else.
I guess getting a new error message is progress. :)
Still can't store multi-lingual characters in data tables.

  • One of my database did not migrate in V11 (From 9.3) ?

    Hello,
we just have migrated our hyperion server from 9.3.1 to 11.1.1
We have two applications in the same application group.
When I open shared Services, In the frame "Application Management", if I click on "Application Group" I see my Application groups list. Then I click on my Application group : It open the Modify Application Group Windows and I see two lines in the Assigned Applications section :
    Myappli 1 : 9.3.1
    MyAppli2 : 9.5 (that is to say V11).
I'm just astonished that one of my application is still in 9.3.1 versions ?? But I opened it with Planning V11, there were no problems ?
It's a problem because I would like to use the LCM between the two applications and it doesn't seems to work with 9.3.1.
So do you think my application is still in 9.3.1 ?
How can I migrate it in 9.5 (V11) ? Is there or is it just a Shared Services problem ? Is there any software or utility which can helps me ?
Note : The migration has been made by one of my colleagues and he doesn't remember to have choose which database to export in 9.5
    Best regards

In fact I'm thinking that LCM doesn't work with my 9.3.1 application because :
In shared Services, Ive activated LCM
    Administration > Configure Auditing.
    (I followed your blog :)
Then if I click (in HSS) on my 9.5 application, on the right frame I see the list of available artifacts.
If I click on the 9.3 application, it displays "Loading", then I see the following message :
Error : Unable to Connect to "ESPACE", ensure that the application is up and running and the user has the appropriate rights to access this feature.
Note : I've checked that the application is running and the user is a member of an admin group.
I also tried to export by LCM date from an 9.5 application to file System then from file system to the 9.3.1 application and it's not working (no errors message but the job never stopped).
But maybe I only have a configuration problem ?
Do you have any idea ?
    Thanks for your help

  • How to award points for a topic I did not begin....

i have received an excellent reply which solved a problem. I joined the discussion part way through. I would like to award points to the contributor who solved my problem but can not see how i do this. Can you only award points if you start the thread?

Ironic that in a thread concerning the awarding of
points for helpful replies, you marked the topic as
answered without awarding any points to Adrian.
Exactly my thoughts, except rather than the points themselves, I'm more concerned with the fact that if there is a reply that solves the problem or answers the question, it should be marked as such.

How are you connecting to the database (i.e. ODBC or OLE DB, which ODBC or OLE DB driver)?
If you're connecting via ODBC and you're using the Oracle ODBC driver, you need to check the "Disable MTS" option in the DSN configuration if you want to use database links. Otherwise, Microsoft Transaction Server thinks it needs to coordinate the distributed databases, which leads to the error:
ORA-02041 client database did not begin a transaction

On Oracle knowledgebase...any search for VKRM, gives about the same 3 articles relating to RDA (Remote Diagnostic Assistant).
Not sure what went on here.
I have a 5 node RAC cluster. All other instances seem to be running just fine.
On one instance...some applications were getting an error like:
ORA-01033: ORACLE initialization or shutdown in progress
I looked in GRID...and it indicated that only two of the 5 nodes had this instance running...which was strange in that with srvctl, it showed ll 5 up and running:

    srvctl stop instance -D INSTANCE -i INSTANCE2

The ORA-01034 messages repeats a number of times...and the one with server4 and server5 repeated again too.
    I also got this:

    CRS-2675: Stop of 'ora.instance.db' on 'server5' failed
    CRS-2675: Stop of 'ora.instance.db' on 'server4' failed

I get similar messages when I try to restart.
clusters seem to be up, and other instances seem to be ok
Looking at alert log...I found some strangeness in the traces

    Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
Ok..have been on phone with Oracle support, and have them stumped so far.
I've checked..other instances are running (except one other that failed to cleanly shut down with srvctl and same error messages).
I've check...ASM is running on all 5 nodes. I've used crsctl to check CRS on all nodes..clustering seems ok.
Memory while somewhat high...should have enough room...the system has never complained before, and this has been up on this config for over a year.
I was able on node one...to fire up the first nodes instance using the pfile there...it came up. I started it restrict..and promptly ran a datapump export, and then shut back down.
While Oracle support is going through logs and trace files I sent...I've got another 11Gr2 environment (3 node RAC) I've been using as a test environment...and am recreated the instance there temporarily to allow my developers to test and get past the upcoming deadline.
But, I'm still puzzled as to the solution on the main cluster. This seem to be normal, except these two instances....
any ideas on where and what to look for?

  • Database does not  startup automatically

    Oracle8i/Windows 2000 server
we have three database ,all are 9am to 6pm database
    running on ARCHIVELOGMODE.
Few days back due to disk crash,
we have recovered our database using coldback up.
since we did not copy archive logs to different disk,
    we lost some data.
disk was under warranty ,it was replaced.
then the database did not startup automatically.
okay the problem was, during booting(since 9am to 6pm database), we were daily logging in svrmgrl and startup the database manually.
now we have automated the above(startup) script in
    windows scheduled task.
what to do to solve this problem.

    Hi
c:\document and settings\admin>ORADIM -EDIT -SID <SID> -startmode auto -pfile D:\oradata\SID\initsid.ora
This will add few entries to the regedit
    Go to regedit
    HKEY_LOCALMACHINE\software\oracle
    ORA_SID_PFILE=D:\oradata\SID\initsid.ora
    ORA_SID_AUTOSTART=TRUE
    check these values
