ORA-1031 Error On Install ORAEX 2.2

Running WINDOWS XP HOME EDITION and have the most recent version Oracle Database Express 10g installed and am a new user.
Following page 2-1 on the Oracle Application Express Installation Requirements manual. When do:
SQL> STARTUP
receive the error:
ORA-1031: insufficient privileges. Before doing this, I logged into the 10g database as sys.
What do I need to do?

Hello,
If I understand correctly, you are trying to install Apex 2.2 on Oracle 10g EX, which is not a supported configuration. If you installed Oracle 10g EX, the proper Apex version – 2.1 – is already installed on your computer, as it is embedded in the 10g EX version.
For some more information, please read the following article - http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/html/xe_and_2.2.html

Arie.

  • ORA-12154 Error After Install of Enterprise Manager

I have a new new laptop with minimal software installed. Everything was fine and I was able to connect to 4 different Oracle 9i databases.
This morning I installed Oracle Enterprise Manager (10g) and now I get the dreaded ORA-12154 error.
I now find a copy of TNSNAMES.ORA in three places. I have copied the correct version to the two new 10G locations and I have verified that all three copies of TNSNAMES.ORA and SQLNET.ORA are correct and identical.
Do anybody have any idea what else could be wrong?

I am certain the TNSNAMES.ORA file is fine as it is "pushed" from a central IT department. I have compared it to the one on a second computer (which has only 9i installed) in my office and they are identical.
I examined the Oracle 9i directories and there was no LISTENER.ORA anywhere. On the 9i only computer the command - C:\>dir listener.ora /s /p executed in a DOS window returned no files.
Everything was working fine until I installed Enterprise Manager 10g (10.2.0.2.1).
I have TOAD installed and it connects to both of the 9i development and production databases, so I know the TNSNAMES.ORA is okay.
It woudl seem that there is a conflict between 10g and 9i Developer/2000.

  • ORA-01017 Error when installing Grid Control 10.2.0.3

    Hello all,
I have the following problem: I am installing the Grid Control on a Linux machine and when I get to the "Specify Repository Database Configuration" step and enter the SYS password I get an ORA-01017 error. I still can connect under SQLPLUS with the same pwd as SYSDBA.
Any clue how to get ride of this will be very appreciated.
    Best regards.

Yes this is what I do, but still receive "Insufficient privileges to write to that location". So I am forced to use normal file system to be able to continue.

    #### Therafter i run dbassist and I create the db and all went well.
When i followed the same procedure in RHEL 3.0 it goes smooth till applying patch glibc2.1.3_stub.tgz but thereafter when i try to create db using dbassist it gives me error like :
ORA-12545 Connect failed because target host or object does not exist.
Even if i tried to run svrmgrl it gives me error

Could anyone help me in resolving that ? the same installation procedure works well for Redhat 8.0/9.0

What version of gcc are you using?
    Check out this link: http://www.redhat.com/archives/taroon-list/2004-June/msg00030.html
All 8i and 9i releases are built with 2.9x versions of gcc, so you might have to downgrade gcc in order to get 8i running.

  • ORA-24324 ORA-24323 ORA-28547 errors when installing dbca on W2K

I cannot install correctly the Oracle 10g Rel 2 on my Win2K platform because when the database configuration assistant installer starts it stops while copying database files with the following errors :
    ORA-24324 Service Handle not Initialized
    ORA-24323 Value not authorized
ORA-28547 Connection to Server failed probable Oracle NET ADMIN error
With DHCP enabled on my box, I workarounded problem with installation guide solution installing the Microsoft Loopback Adapter and instanciating the hosts files.
The install was succesfully started but it keeps stoping with the above errors and the service seems to be up on port 1521.
    Any clues?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi
There are zillion programs in the market that I don't know about and that might use 1521 port. Anyways, you may want to delete the registry entries before begining the new install if they are not already deleted.
    goto Start->Run->REGEDIT
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE->SOFTWARE->ORACLE and delete it.
    Also
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE->SYSTEM->CONTROLSETxx->SERVICES and remove any service that has Oracle in it.
Additionally I would also delete the folder of Oracle_home and wipe out entries from c:\program files\oracle.
Last but not the least, remove environmental variables with Oracle entries.
    eboot your machine.
If you are using a firewall or AV then it is possible that this port is being blocked for use. Try to disable the firewall and AV atleast during installation.
    Hope it works for you.

  • ORA-01855 error

I have a table like this
    Table test
    File VARCHAR2(10),
    No NUMBER(3),
    UpdateTime DATE
When I submit the following SQL
    Insert into test values('test',1,
    to_date('2001/3/5 PM 05:35:57','YYYY/MM/DD AM HH:MI:SS'));
    I got a ORA-01855 error
I install Oracle 8i on a Win2000 trandition chinese edition.
But if I install Oracle 8i on WinNT,
same table and same sql command but no error occurs.
    null

I do not have a final how to fix, but I do know that in Windows 2000 Oracle grabs different character sets. It is possible the set it is using might not allow for the text in your varchar field. (Could be a character set issue)

  • Oracle9i Start Error: ORA-1031

Whenever I started Oracle9i in window98, it ask for a username and password. I have tried all the standard user (i.e. sys/sysdba, scott/tiger, system/manager) but nothing works and the error ORA-1031 appear.

The most probable reason is you are not logged into your machine as the administrator of the machine (or as the user who installed Oracle). You do not have sufficient privileges to start and stop the Oracle.
Log in as administrator and try to connect as :
    / as sysdba

I tried to install oracle 10g r2 in server 2008. but it gives ORA-12560: TNS: protocol adapter error when installing. how I can fix this issue??? please help me ASAP. because its urgent.
    thanks in advance.

    Welcome to the forums !
Pl indicate which version of 10g you are installing and on which version of Win 2008. Neither 10gR1 nor 10gR2 are certified to be installed on Win 2008 R1, AFAIK.
For 10gR2, only 10.2.0.5 is certified for Win 2008 R2 - see MOS Doc 1173433.1 (How to Install Oracle 10.2.0.5 on MS Windows 7 / Windows 2008R2)
Also see MOS Doc 740926.1 (Where can I find the Database / Client software to download for Microsoft Vista, or Windows 2008R1?).
Both 10gR1 and 10gR2 are now in extended support - is there a reason you are not using 11gR2 ?
