ORA-19511: A backup or restore session is already in progress. (100:17:0)

Hi,
I am duplicating a database as document explains. Legato support says that there's no session, neither can be seen in the target or catalog.
ORA-19870: error reading backup piece full_open_IEBDPR01_h7k7ccrn_1575

ORA-19511: Error received from media manager layer, error text:

failover to previous backup
Rman log doesn't report any error with the backup.
Thanks.

  • ORA-19612: datafile 0 not restored due to missing data

    Hello,
    I'm testing a restore of the controlfile. The database is in archivelog mode and autobackup is set to ON. I successfully did a full backup and backup as copy database.
    To test I did the following:
    - note the DBID
    - shutdown the database
    - renamed both controlfiles:
    $ mv /u02/rcat/control01.ctl /u02/rcat/control01.ctl_old
    $ mv /u02/fra/rcat/control02.ctl /u02/fra/rcat/control02.ctl_old

  • RMAN backup and restore for Disaster Recovery

    Hi Guys,
    I am very new to Oracle and have a question about RMAN backup and restore feature. I am simulating a disaster recovery scenario by having two VMs running oracle 11g, say hosta and hostb, hosta is sort of production db and the other a disaster recovery db (one that will be made primary when disaster occurs). My goal is to backup production db using RMAN and restore it on the other machine. For some reason when I restore the db on hostb, the command restores the previous backup but not the most recent one e.g. I took a backup yesterday (09/20) and applied it to the hostb that worked fine, but when I try to apply a fresh backup from today (09/21) it always picks up the old backup. Here's a dump of the screen:
    Starting restore at 21-SEP-11

    Notice that it reads the backup piece from this location /oracle/app/dev/flash_recovery_are

    whereas my latest backups are stored at a different location.
    I am executing following steps at the RMAN prompt on hosta and hostb:
    hosta (production site)

    Thanks guys, I really appreciate all your help here. I redid everything all over again to get all the information you guys wanted. Since I noticed that more eyes are looking into this I am going to reiterate my steps one more time followed by specific answers to questions. My first backup on Host B is located under ..../restore_db/backupset whereas the subsequent one is under .../restore_db/backupset/backupset2.
    I take backup on Host A using:
    rman target /
    backup as compressed backupset database plus archivelog;
    backup spfile;
    quit;
    I restore the backup on Host B using:

    restore database;

    I take another backup on Host A using (notice no spfile backup this time):
    backup as compressed backupset database plus archivelog;

    I restore the database on Host B using:
    alter database mount;

    Hi,
    If I check in TOAD, then I see that the max size of the tablespace is unlimited. Btw, Tablespace XYZ is actually an index tablespace - dont know if this makes a difference. The max size of the data tablespace is also unlimited.
    Using the query select * from user_ts_quotas or dba_ts_quotas, I dont see tablespace XYZ or its data tablespace in this result set. I'm not sure why.
    Maybe giving the user unlimited quota on the tablespace might solve the problem - i dont know, but if it does, then I have to ask why has it worked all the time without this and only now it's giving an error??
    The user has been doing the same thing everyday for the past couple of years and only now getting this error.

  • ORA-19511 Media Management Error

    I am getting following error while taking the backup to tape using OSB:
    RMAN-00571: ===========================================================
    RMAN-00569: =============== ERROR MESSAGE STACK FOLLOWS ===============
    RMAN-00571: ===========================================================
    RMAN-03009: failure of backup command on eps2_sbt channel at 02/22/2008 10:32:30
    ORA-27192: skgfcls: sbtclose2 returned error - failed to close file
    ORA-19511: Error received from media manager layer, error text:
    shmcheck: The obtar process (pid=26769) communicating with SBT has terminated.
    This might be because the job was cancelled elsewhere, or due to an internal error.
    Please check the job transcript for more information.
    ORA-19502: write error on file "0sj9beek_1_1", blockno 47105 (blocksize=512)
    I have inserted a new tape so there is lot of space available on the tape. Tape is attached to the same box, so its only 1 box with admin, media and client roles.
    The backup was working fine earlier on this box, this all started today itself and also the file system backup to tape using OSB is still working fine but not the RMAN backups, nobody changed anything in OSB or Database configurations.
    Is it time to log the TAR or is there something else which I can check??
    Daljit Singh

    Usually, that kind of error message indicates that the OSB user (with associated os privilege) does not have os privilege to access SCSI devices (ie tape devices). Believe it or not this is a common problem, especially, for the DBA user which os rights don't always include access to tape devices.
    OSB will always adhere to os privileges soooo if the os blocks a user, OSB will also block that user.

  • I accidently clicked dont restore session, I wanted to restore ... is there a way to do this after clicking no?

    I accidentally clicked don't restore session ...
    I wanted to restore, and actually needed a couple of the sites that i had open.
    Is there any way to restore now? I found the sessionstore.js file ... can i do anything with that?
    == This happened ==
    Just once or twice

    Did you also find a file sessionstore.bak from around that time?
    If that is the case then make a backup copy of sessionstore.bak elsewhere and copy sessionstore.bak to sessionstore.js

  • How to restore sessions after upgrade

    Just upgraded to FF 33. Previously I had two windows open. Upon restart only one opened, with all its tabs intact. I would like to recover the other window as well. "Restore session" is either grayed or missing on menu and start pages. Is there a way to recover the second window.

    Usually, the History menu will list closed windows you can restore below the grayed out Restore Previous Session. Anything listed?
    Before closing Firefox, please back up your session history files to a safe location for potential recovery/salvage operations.
    You can open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using either
    * "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Troubleshooting Information
    * (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
    * type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter
    In the first table on the page, click the "Show Folder" button.
    In the window that launches, scroll down and double-click into the '''sessionstore-backups''' folder. Save all files here to a safe location, such as your Documents folder. We may be able to use them to recover your lost tabs.
    The kinds of files you may find among your sessionstore files are:
    * recovery.js: the windows and tabs in your currently live Firefox session (or, if Firefox is closed, your last session)
    * recovery.bak: a backup copy of recovery.js
    * previous.js: the windows and tabs in your last Firefox session
    * upgrade.js-''build_id'': the windows and tabs in the Firefox session that was live at the time of your last update
    You might also find files Firefox created if it could not update recovery.js (but since Firefox 33 is so new, I don't know what they would be named).
    Could you take a look at what you have and the date/time of the various files to see whether you think any of them would have the missing window?
    Note: By default, Windows hides the .js extension. To ensure that you are looking at the files I mentioned, you may want to turn off that feature. This article has the steps: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hide-file-name-extensions

  • Restart Restore Session?

    How do I restart a restore session on my phone when it pauses?

    Hi drneecie,
    I apologize, I'm a bit unclear on the exact issue you are describing. If you are on a restore screen with an Apple icon and a progress bar, and the progress bar appears to have paused or stopped moving, you may find the following article helpful:
    Apple logo with progress bar after updating or restoring iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from backup - Apple Support
    If you are having other, more general restore issues with your iPhone, you may find this article more useful:
    If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
    Sincerely,

    Why it is looking old backup totobkp.rman which is not existing on disk ? My
    backup name is t1.bkp.
    Will you pl tell me where I have gone wrong ? Secondly what are the correct
    steps to be followed for taking cold backup and restoration.
    thanks & regards
    pjp

    Okay let us ponder this for a moment:-
    DB NOARCHIVELOG
    It does not matter when you take the backup of controlfile because the database is in mount state and no changes are allowed to the db ( Checkpoints etc. )
    DB ARCHIVELOG
    It does not matter when you take the backup of controlfile because the database is continuously writing to the archivelog's.
    End result should not be significantly different as to worry about whether to take backup of control file before or after backup.
    Thanks
    Gopal

    My apps store will not go online with verizon network, but on wifi it works. I am on an iphone 4, verizon.  I tried to do a complete, backup and restore on the phone 1 day before i noticed this problem,  The backup finished but the RESTORE would fail I had an error, could not access Apple server ( some server name I cant remember).
    I have plenty of space available on the iphone,
    8gb free,
    ios version- 6.1.3 ( 10B329)
    carrier - Verizon 14.0
    Modem Firmware - 3.0.04
    Can someone help.
    I tried doing my backup restore on the same computer as I once did a year ago. and THis time I cant do the restore on the iphone.
    computer osx is 10.5.8
    itunes version 10.
    I do not wish to go to ios 7 at this time.

    Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
    Basic troubleshooting is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
    If the issue continues, contact the carrier to troubleshoot the network connectivity issues.

  • Not able to sign into Blackberry Protect. Backup and Restore function not working. "Your device isn't associated with a Blackberry ID"

    Not able to sign into Blackberry Protect.  Backup and Restore function not working. Message is: "Your device isn't associated with a Blackberry ID."  My Blackberry Messenger and Blackberry World is working fine so I am sure its not an ID issue on the phone.  I can sign into Link, Blackberry.com and Protect.  I see my device in Protect but cannot send messages or view it on a map.  Times out with cannot reach device message.  BB Protect on Device has a swirling circle beside the on/of switch.  Cannot turn off.
    I have deleted Link and re-installed.
    I have reset phone to default(factory) and signed in.
    OS level is 10.2.1.3062
    BB Link is 1.2.3.56
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    I managed to figure this out myself. I had to delete the device from the Blackberry Protect website.  protect.blackberry.com.  I wiped my device again and signed in with my Blackberry ID.  I dont know if the step of wiping was necessary as I did not try my backup with the current configuration on the device following the delete.  Restore is in progress for me!
