ORA-20876: Stop APEX Engine message in CSV download from Interactive Report

Hi,
1 particular Interactive Report in our application produces the following error message in the CSV file, if we attempt to download the report: -
ORA-20876: Stop APEX Engine
All other reports work OK, there is another thread here with the same issue, but no resolution was posted: APEX 4.1 ORA-20876: Stop APEX Engine
Has anyone else come across this issue?
Apex version is 4.1.0.00.32
Thanks,
Mike

Hi,
what happens if you take the query from IR report and create a new classic report?
On this report enable csv export and then try the export.
Maybe that (format) data are causing export to fail.
Try to export just one row in your IR report (and classic report), so that you add where rownum < 2.

Aljaz

  • Error when refreshing report region: ORA-20876: Stop APEX Engine

I'm using Apex 4.2. On click of a button, I refresh 2 Standard Region Reports with a Dynamic Action. This dynamic action has been working without problems for WEEKS and all of a sudden i'm getting the ORA-20876: Stop APEX Engine error when I click the button.
In the dynamic action, I removed the refresh of the second report and now the error does not occur. If I add the second refresh action back in, it throws the above error. I've even tried making the second report identical to the first and the refresh action fails. I don't understand why this is failing on the second refresh action since the second report & region is IDENTICAL to the first report now.
    Please help!
    Thanks,
    John

I would use something like firebug to see how the AJAX call for the refresh is working. I would want to see what is begin posted and what's being returned from the call.
That should shed some light on the issue.

  • Htmldb_application.g_excel_format for CSV download from Interactive Report

I have an Interactive Report which I would like to modify so that it downloads to CSV different fields than it displays (some of the online displayed fields are hypertext links). In the past, dealing with "classic" APEX reports, I did this by defining 2 versions of the relevant fields, one for display and one for download. I then used a PLSQL condition checking htmldb_application.g_excel_format to determine which version of the field to use. I have tried this using the Interactive Report, and it does not work for me. I would greatly appreciate any help in resolving this issue. In both the online and downloaded version of the report, I am seeing the hypertext links.
I am using APEX 3.1.1, running on Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bit Production With the Partitioning, OLAP, Data Mining and Real Application Testing options.

Your CSV-File use "comma" as separator. But Excel think, that CSV-File separator is "semicolon".
Try to set "CSV Separator"=";" in section "Report Attributes" - "Download".

  • ORA-20876 in csv export from interactive report = Possibly a bug?

    Hi Apex team,
yesterday i tried to download data to csv from an interactive report. The resulting csv file contained a "ORA-20876: Stop APEX Engine" only and no other data. I played around with other reports in my application and had no problems with exports.
After some investigation i found out that the buggy report contains a column of display type "Display as text (based on a LOV, escape special characters)". When I changed this column type to "Standard Report Column" for example, the error didn't appear anymore and the csv export contained complete data.
Maybe this is a bug? The environment is Apex 4.1.1.00.23 on 11g (UTF-8). Is there a workaround available?
    Regards,
    Jens

    Additional Information
The problem seems to occur only if a Shared Components LOV of type "Static" is referenced in the IR column.

  • Unable to open PDF output (PDF downloaded from Interactive Report--APEX)

    Hi,
I'm getting below error while opening a PDF file downloaded from an interactive report (APEX).
Adobe reader cound not open "TEST.pdf"because it is either not supportd file or because the file has been damaged.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Ramamuni.

Steps of pdf Printing of Report from FOP:
    1) Download and unzip the following needed files in D:\Apex_fop directory.
    2) Open your command prompt .
    Change the directory to D:\Apex_fop\cocoon-2.1.11.
Set the Java_Home environment variable as: set JAVA_HOME= C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_21
    then type build war
    3) After getting the prompt back as D:>Apex_fop>cocoon-2.1.11>
Copy coocon.war file from the folder D:\Apex_fop\cocoon-2.1.11\build\cocoon.
Paste this file into webapps subdirectory in main tomcat directory having path as D:\APEX_FOP\apache-tomcat-6.0.26\webapps.....place it in the top
    level of webapps directory.
    4) Now just startup tomcat as D:>APEX_FOP>apache-tomcat-6.0.26>bin>startup.bat
The cocoon.war file will automatically uncompressed as directory.
    5) To change the port of apache tomcat , edit apache-tomcat-6.0.26\conf\server.xml & change port attribute of Connector element from 8080 to 8181.
Just check whether Tomcat is running or not as http://localhost:8181/
& to check cocoon type http://localhost:8181/cocoon/
    6) Now copy fop_post directory & paste it undes new cocoon directory in webapps having path as D:\APEX_FOP\apache-tomcat-6.0.26\webapps
    \cocoon.
    7) Now you need to do some apex settings as follows:
In APEX, just log in as ADMIN into apex/apex_admin and went to Instance Settings and did the following:
    - Print Serverr: Standard Support
    - Print Server Protocol: HTTP
    - Print Server Host Address:localhost
    - Print Server Port: 8181
    - Print Server Script: /cocoon/fop_post
In your APEX application, in the Regions section, Click on the Print link next to your report and do the following settings:
    - Enable Report Printing: Yes
    - Link Label: Print
    - Response Header: Report Settings
    - View File As: Attachment
    - Output Format: PDF
    - Report Layout: Default Report Layout
    - Print URL: f?p=&APP_ID.:1:&SESSION.:FLOW_XMLP_OUTPUT_R1063230002781575
    8) Open up the Report Page and click Print , You will get the pdf report.
I am sure this will help you

  • Download from Interactive Report to csv is not working

    Hi there,
when I try to create a download form my interactive report I get an empty csv/pdf.
I just checked with other report pages where the download functionality is working - but the settings seem the same.
In the interactive report properties I've set the check boxes for csv and pdf and it is also displayed properly then on the report page. But when I click on the download (csv or pdf) just an empty document is opened.
What settings can I check now - what might be the reason for the error?
    BR & thank you,
    Lena

    Keerti,
You're using the "Display Condition" of the Interactive Report Region (IRR) to show the report or not.
If you have multiple selects just use a PL/SQL expression as in:
    :P1_MULTI_1 IS NOT NULL
AND :P1_MULTI_2 IS NOT NULLNow, if that works for you lets take things a little further... You don't need the second submit button all the time (I'd get rid of it entirely but you seem to really want to hide the region until a selection is made). I did the following:
    1. Updated the display condition of the report to use a PL/SQL expression.
    2. Set the display condition of the submit button to the opposite of the IRR.
    3. Added the item name of the select to the interactive report attributes > Advanced Attributes > Page Items to Submit.
Now the go button can be used for everything.

Updated as only clicking "go" works with Page Items to Submit.

  • Download to CSV format in Interactive report

    Hi all,
We have APEX 4.2. We have created Interactive report on a table. When we download that report to csv, everything is fine except for loan number which is a varchar2(50 Byte) (e.g. 210568900000000012). It is shown as 2.10569E+15. When we try to format the cell as text, it rounds off the number (e.g 210568900000000000).
    Please advice.
    Regards,
    Andy

I encountered this issue previously, but regarding leading zeroes. It was really a battle with Excel - not APEX.
Although I'd be interested to see if anyone has found a workaround that made Excel interpret it as a character instead of a number. We tried a few leads but to no avail.

    Hi
We have a requirement to generate .csv file from abap report.

  • How to Customize the Message "No Row Returned" from a Report

    Hi,
I've been trying to customize the Message "No Row Returned" from a Report.
First i followed the instructions in Note:183131.1 -
How to Customize the Message "No Row Returned" from a Report
But of course the OWA_UTIL.REDIRECT_URL in this solution did not work (in a portlet) and i found the metalink document 228620.1 which described how to fix it.
So i followed the "fix" in the document above and now my output is,..
"Portlet 38,70711 responded with content-type text/plain when the client was requesting content-type text/html"
So i search in Metalink for the above and come up with,...
    Bug 3548276 PORTLET X,Y RESPONDED WITH CONTENT-TYPE TEXT/PLAIN INSTEAD OF TEXT/HTML
And i've read it and read it and read it and read it and can't make heads or tails of what it's saying.
Every "solution" seems to cause another problem that i have to fix. And all i want to do is customize the Message "No Row Returned" from a Report. Please,...does anyone know how to do this?

My guess is that it only shows the number of rows it has retrieved. I believe the defailt is for it to only retrieve 50 rows and as you page through your report it retrieves more. So this would just tell you how many rows was retireved, but probably not how many rows the report would contain if you pages to the end. Oracle doesn't really have a notion of total number of rows until the whole result set has been materialized.

  • Email message won't download from server since installing IOS7

Some of my emails both on my iPad and iPhone won't download from server since installing IOS7!

I'm having the same problem with both my iPhone and iPad after installing iOS7.  Checked all the settings and spoke to my email  provider and everything is set up properly.  It's hit or miss which messages don't download from the server too.  And occasionally, a message that does download to my iPad, won't download on my iPhone.  Everything on my PC downloads properly, it just seems to be an ios7 issue as this wasn't a problem before.  My wife uses the same email provider and is still on iOS6.x with no issues.  Any help or suggestions would be great.

  • XLS download of interactive report - error after upgrade to apex 4.1.1

    Hello!
When trying to download a certain IR with e.g. 10 columns as XLS, I get the following error in the Excel in Apex 4.1.1:
ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small
If I change it to two columns it works.
    BI Publisher 11.1.1.5.0
    Apex 4.1.1.00.23
Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.3.0
In Apex 4.0.2.00.07 the exact same IR works with any number of columns.
    Any ideas?
    BR Paul

    BR Paul,
I am experiencing the same issue after upgrading to 4.1.1.00.23 and trying to download pdf via bi pub xmlpserver. Seems if i reduce the columns to what fits on an 8.5X11 page then it works without error. Were you able to find a workaround in 4.1.1? Just trying to save some effort if you already found the solution. I wasn't successful in finding many others with this issue, so i appreciate the post but unfortunately don't have an answer to our problem. I'm using the standard csv download option and this works but of course it isn't going through bi pub.
    thanks,
    Jeff

  • Apex Advisor does not like comments within interactive reports

If I have some comments within interactive reports,
    example:
    /* comment */
    select * from dual
apex advisor shows me an error message like this:
    Compilation error - ORA-06550: line 3, column 1:
PLS-00428: an INTO clause is expected in this SELECT statement
Does anyone has the same problem?
    Thank you!

    Hi "user1139516",
the problem is that if the first word isn't "SELECT" or "WITH" the statement it's not detected as a SQL statement and we fallback to try to handle it as an anonymous PL/SQL block.
For now as a workaround, but your comments after the SELECT keyword like
    select /* comment */
from dualWe try to change that behavior in a future version of APEX.
    Thanks

  • Blank csv from interactive report

I have an interactive report that shows the data just fine. but when I choose download and csv, I get a blank file, zero lenght. there is data in the report, but the download shows nothing. has anyone see this before? its just a standard report, nothing real fancy. it should be able to download data right?

    it is apex is 4.0
I'm not sure of the database, I believe it is 11g
I have no clue as to the web server, I'd have to say whatever comes with 11g or apex. I don't have access rights to see that.
browser is IE 7 and firefox 3. both have the same issue.
I can't export it to a different instance at this time.. however, I created a new page, created a report in it and used a simple query, it allows me to download it. so something is odd about the actual report I have now. its a simple query, so I'm not sure what it wrong yet.
something must be interfering with the process.
