We have raised the SR with ORACLE, after uploading the trace & alert log, reply from oracle as follows:
Generic Note
I couldn't find any issue in the trace file.
I think you need to open a ticket to the O/S vendor to identify which process is locking the file.
====================================================================================
We have move the database from F: to G:, problem got resolved, but we cant keep the database in G: for more time as the space issue, We have to move the database back to F: , and we are facing the issue on F:
can any body help, how to monitor the windows process locking the database files,
or the utility that can log the errors at the same time when database goes down.
Thanks,

Hello,
You can have a look to the windows Event Viewer, see if something happens around 03:30.
Do you have an antivirus on your server ?
At what time does your backup run ?

Sylvie

    Since it is a <b>write</b> error, I'd look at permissions on the target directory, and available disk space on the target file system.

    That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
    XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
    Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
    Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

  • Converting WAV files to AAC  Error convert Can't read from or write to disk

    For several weeks I had no problem converting WAV files (from an Olympus Digital Recorder) to AAC format in iTunes, then one day I clicked "Convert Selection to AAC" and received the message "Error occured while converting the file. The disk could not be read from or written to." There is no Error # associated with the Error message.

    I recently spent over 14 hours converting all my CD songs to WAV. WAV conversion was the only one of two options available with my older Nero software, and MP3 conversion was not an option. I intended to make mixed CD's. By the time I was done, I had over 300 songs that take up over 17 GB in this WAV format.
    The thought of sitting even more endless hours making these CD's made me even more exhausted, and I realized that I should get with the times and get an MP3 player. So, I bought an iPod directly from Apple two days ago (12/16), and get this, MaclessInAZ, the sales person told me that I all my WAV files could be imported into my iPod with iTunes. (!!!)
    I am very glad to have read this thread before I got my iPod. I would have been so upset if there was no easy solution. My new iPod is supposed to be delivered tomorrow, and I am looking forward to getting it. Many thanks to weavercs for the information on the Switch program that converts WAV to MP3. Even if I decide to buy the full version of Switch, it is a lot less expensive than other conversion programs that I just found online, like Roxio.

    O/S-Error: (OS 112) There is not enough space on the disk.
    Your available space is 264 GB and your datafile size is 317 GB. So, increase the space for that mount point and try again.

    I have an oracle testing instance on Windows NT. It went down every several months due to the same errors. The only difference is the control file number in the error message for every time. I fixed it by restarting the oracle service each time. Below is the error session in the alert log:

  • ORA-00376: file 2 cannot be read at this time

    Hi,
    Our SAP system is down. When checked I found PSAPUNDO tablespace needs recovery. (From SYSSMU1$ to SYSSMU10$ NEEDS RECOVERY and SYSSMU11$ to SYSSMU17$ are offline).
    So I have created another tablespace PSAPUNDO2 and altered the system.
    SQL >create undo tablespace PSAPUNDO2 datafile 'D:\Oracle\SOL\sapdata1\undo_2\UNDO.DATA2' size 700MB;
    SQL>alter system set undo_tablespace=PSAPUNDO2 scope=spfile;
    I have changed undo_management to Manual. And I have not dropped old tablespace PSAPUNDO yet,
    I have restarted the system and initially the database was not open.
    I gave command alter database open and opened it.
    The oracle has been started normally. But still SAP instance cannot be started.
    Last few lines of aler log:

    Now when i give command:
    show parameter undo, I got the table_space name as PSAPUNDO2.But if I give command
    SQL> select segment_name,owner,tablespace_name,status from dba_rollback_segs;
    I am getting PSAPUNDO as the tablespace insteadof PSAPUNDO2. PSAPUNDO tablespace needs recovery. (From SYSSMU1$ to SYSSMU10$ NEEDS RECOVERY and SYSSMU11$ to SYSSMU17$ are offline).
    Also
    In BRTOOLS, in show tablespace command I cannot see the new tablespace PSAPUNDO2.
    Kindly suggest how to resolve this issue.

    Hi,
    Thanks for your reply. When I checked SAP down issue(around 6th Dec) I had exteneded the tablespace PSAPUNO and PSAPSR3 with brtools and restarted the server.
    Then I checked further and found the problem was PSAPUNDO needs recovery.
    Then I created another tablespace PSAPUNDO2 and altered system. (See my previous post).
    Now as you told I checked alert log history to check when the problem started and found the following:

    I did what Prabhu told me..But i recovered using backup controlfile and when i was asked to apply logs..i applied my oldest logs and it worked
    Like i have two groups with two members each
    I applied log1a.dbf and it said media recovery completee
    I opened the database But then it started giving me errors for undo tablespace
    I made another undo tablespace..tried dropping the old one but it did not permitted as it had some segments with status "needs recovery"
    Than i added this parameter in pfile with the correupted segment and than tried to drop the segment but it still did not permit
    corruptedrollback_segments =(corrupted_undo segment_name)
    Next what i did was I mounted the database, ran another session of media recovery and opened the databse using resetlogs
    Than i dropped the old undo and it went through successfully..
    If you think anything i did wrong than please advice..
    I hope this action plans helps you in case you come across same errors some day
    I would be very thankful if you can refer me a document of recovery which covers all kinds of recoveries and scenarios and commands too
    Thanks alot

    Hello joy,
    So, still looking for solution. I suggest you a sloution and it works well only if as you mentioned (in your previous post) that file causing error is temp file. So, get rid of this better you create new temporary table space and drop old one and then delete the old files manually.
    But this will work only for Temp Tablespace not for normal tablespaces and datafiles. Prepare new temporary tablespace at different location from the previous one, try to make it on different disk beacuse it may be due to corruption of physical medium too.
    Try this. If it works... you are through... otherwise i have no other options...
    Please update.....

    Some questions:
    1. OS type?
    2. File System type? Check the size of datafile #557 and check the FS limits.
    4. Are there entries when you issue following command "select * from v$recover_file"?
    5. Did you check the file permissions? (Oracle owner must have write permission)

    2. run this query and verify it VALID status.
    select COMP_NAME,VERSION,STATUS from dba_registry where COMP_NAME='Oracle Data Mining';
    is any thing else require?

  • Ora-27072

    Hi:
    Running 9.2 on 64bit Itanium
    In SQLPlus, I'm getting.....
    SQL> select count(*) from imp_insts;
    select count(*) from imp_insts
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-01115: IO error reading block from file 2 (block # 273118)

    ORA-27072: skgfdisp: I/O error
    Linux-ia64 Error: 5: Input/output error
    Additional information: 273117
    I get this after a successful "shutdown immediate" and then "open".
    Appears to trace back to the OS (can't read somethign from the disk). Would a rebuild of the undotbs fix this?

    Dave
    You might want to check the maximum filesize that has been set at the OS level. Check "ulimit" for the Oracle user.
    You haven't given any additional details so my guess here will be that your undo file must have tried to grow beyond the "allowed" size. Either change the ulimit to unlimited or set the autoextend off for that undo file and add a new data file to the tablespace.
    Ofcourse, if you have good backup and all archived logs since the last backup, you can restore the good file and recover the tablespace.
